Weblogic Startup script auto on server boot

Hi All,
I have a start up script on /etc/init.d called "wlsstart".
The script is linked to a file called S99weblogic under /etc/rc3.d
The OEL is 5.6 version.
After reboots, the script does not run for some reason.
But manual invocation works fine.
I also entered in /etc/inittab as :
h3:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/wlsstart >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
any ideas?

Hi,
You have to create Soft Links in /etc/rc3.d
If you do ls -lrt in /etc/rc3.d , you will see how soft links are created for rest of the processes.
Once you created start ans stop soft link , your script will be automatically started after machine reboot.
Cheers !
/Hammad

  • How do I sound an alarm if a thread fails to start from the weblogic startup script?

    Here's the problem. I have a critical java program for my web app that
    is its own thread and is started by the weblogic startup script when
    the weblogic server is started. The constructor of this thread will
    throw exceptions and send out emergency emails to the Sys Ops people
    if it cant instantiate itself correctly. The only time that it wont be
    able to do that is if it cant read the email property from a config
    file to know where to send sys ops email to. In that situation what
    would be the best way to alert someone that the thread failed to
    start?

    1) Post a console message to the admin (thro' net send in NT).
    2) Hard code a default email address (easiest).

  • Weblogic.admin script to alert server status

    Hi,
    Can anybody share a weblogic.admin utility script for alerting the server status in unix ?

    Below is the solaris shell script integrated with weblogic.admin utility....
    If the server status is other than running it will sends a alert mail to you.
    Sometime your server may be in shutdown mode and if you execute the below script, it says destination not reachable on specified port and then also it sends a alert mail.
    Change it according to ur env and execute...
    set -x
    export CLASSPATH=”/wl_home/server/lib/weblogic.jar”
    declare -a Port=( 8003 7072 8201 )

  • How to specify the webLogic server startup script to use different config.xml  file ??

    Hi,
    I have 2 weblogic startup scripts (startWebLogic.sh and
    startWebLogic_recovery.sh) for the same domain.
    startWebLogic.sh uses config.xml file.
    I would like to use config_recovery.xml as the configuration file for startWebLogic_recovery.sh
    How would I do this ?
    I am using WebLogic Server 6.1 on SunOS 5.8 / HP-UX 11.0.
    Appreciate any help.
    Regards
    Gunaseelan Venkateswaran

    I guess you're using Weblogic 6.1 with WLCS 3.5. I think you're supposed to work with one config.xml for the same domain, and not have a different config.xml.
    To start up different applications or EJBs, use the "target" property to control which applications to start up for the particular instance.

  • Run shell script as root on boot

    Hi!
    I have the need to run a shell script on boot up as root.
    It will not run as any other user because the software that the shell script runs requires root permissions, and I don't use my computer as root. I can't run it at login and use sudo because it would ask for a password and hang.
    How can I have the shell script auto-run at boot (or login) as root?
    Thanks
    Ross

    Hi,
    first of all you can store your shell script anywhere on your system, I prefere the location /usr/local/scripts (this doesn't exist by default).
    Second you have to create a LaunchDeamon script in /Library/LaunchDeamons which execute your shell script at boot as root.
    An example:
    -------------------------snip------------------------
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST
    1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>YOURIDENTIFIERNAME</string>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>/usr/local/scripts/YOUR_SCRIPT.sh</string>
    </array>
    <key>RunAtLoad</key>
    <true/>
    <key>UserName</key>
    <string>ROOT</string>
    <key>GroupName</key>
    <string>WHEEL</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>

    To run a script as root during a user login you can configure a LoginHook. To create a LoginHook login as the relating user and type the following commad:
    sudo defaults write com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook /Path/To/Your/Script

  • Managed server startup script not reading login info from boot.properties

    To encrypt the username and password in weblogic admin server, I used a boot.properties file and setting some properties like StoreBootIdentity=true. This works as expected.
    Now, I have a weblogic managed server within the same folder i.e.
    under /bea/user_projects/domains/mydomain
    To get the similar behaviour on this managed server, I created a boot1.properties file and set the following in the startup script
    java -Djava.compiler=NONE -ms200m -mx200m $HOTSPOT_OPTIONS -classpath $CLASSPATH -Dweblogic.Domain=mydomain -Dweblogic.Name=$SERVER_NAME -Dweblogic.management.server=$ADMIN_URL -Djava.security.policy==$WL_HOME/server/lib/weblogic.policy -DRCP_PROPS=/data/css/adixit/samsung/scc612/server/cfg/RCP.props -Dlog4j.configuration=log4j.xml -Dweblogic.system.BootIdentityFile=/bea/user_projects/domains/mydomain/boot1.properties -Dweblogic.RootDirectory=/bea/user_projects/domains/mydomain weblogic.Server
    When I run the script I get the following :-
    <Jan 24, 2005 3:41:44 PM GMT+05:30> <Info> <Security> <BEA-090065> <Getting boot identity from user.>
    Enter username to boot WebLogic server:
    Why is it not able to pick the username and password from the boot1.properties file ? Any clues ? What settings can I change to make it work ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Being that you posted this problem a few months ago, I am assuming you found the cause of your problem. I too experienced this same symptom (boot.properties not being read) when trying to start a managed server on a different server than the admin JVM. I found the resolution in the following documentation:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/startstop.html#BootIdentityFiles
    Basically, you have to copy the SerializedSystemIni.dat from the server that the admin JVM is on to the secondary server where the managed JVM is going to run. I was able to do as the link says (add the boot.properties file with plain text passwords and have it encrypted). Hope this helps you or someone else down the road.

    Hi,
    Configuration: Weblogic 8.1SP2 on Windows 2000, 1 admin server and 14
    managed
    servers
    whats the right way from these 2 scenarious to create a domain on managed
    server
    1. create domain on managed server using configuration wizard. Then point
    to this
    domain from administration server remote start tab(root directory). This
    is what
    we do so far.This is the best way to create managed servers for your domain.
    >
    2. Just enter user_projects/domains folder/$domain name$ in remote start
    tab(root
    directory)
    on admin server console and when you start the managed server from
    admin console
    the domain folder and files will be created.
    Yes, the managed server is started in this case at the root directory you specified.
    The difference is in the
    1. first case we see all scripts like startManagedWeblogic, setenv, boot.properties
    etc
    this may help(we still dont know) if one wants to bring up managed
    server
    manually using
    startManagedServer.bat without using node manager.Yes, that is correct. You will need to edit the startManagedServer.bat to include
    the admin server URL, username and paswword..
    >
    2. second case only 2-3 files get created like msi-config.xml and SerializedSystemIni.dat
    Basically first case is superset of second case.
    What is the experience of people in this regard?
    thanks much

  • Script to send a mail alert whenever server boot

    hi,
    I need a shell or perl script to send a mail alert to user whenever server boot, restart and shutdown.because in my office power problem is there.So the server restarted intermediatly.Kindly any one give a script to rectify my problem.

    If the server isat all important and you have a power problem, do consider getting a UPS. It might recover OK most times from power cuts (especially if you're on ZFS), but if you get other power problems like brown-outs and spikes, you might one day regret leaving it connected to a bad mains feed. Choose a mainstream brand like APC to be sure of Solaris support. The line-interactive versions, e.g. SmartUPS will recondition the mains waveform as well as maintaining supply during a power cut.

  • Can we have seperate startup script for each managed server?

    Hi,
    Can we have a seperate startup script (startManagedWebLogic.sh) to start each
    Managed Server? for example startManagedWebLogic.sh for ms1 and startManagedWebLogic.sh
    in ms2 in another directory?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Siraj

    startManagedWebLogic.sh internally calls startWebLogic.sh with few added parameters, that's all it does. You are free to modify the startup script, the way you want.

  • Linux Startup script for Forms Services 11g with Weblogic

    Hi,
    Does anybody know where I can find info about the startup script process for Forms Service 11g under linux? I can't find it googling it... I think I have to startup weblogic first... isnt it ? or opmnctl works alone ?
    In 10g we just need to set env vars and then "opmnctl startall" and if we need enterprise manager "emctl start iasconsole" ... what about on 11g?
    Regards
    Ricardo

    You can start directly the WLS_FORMS without starting the Admin and Node manager ..
    I think if you go through this link , you will get more information ..

    I am trying to create a cron job for my backup of MySQL data. This seemed simple on linux (just a start and stop mysql statement) But I can't seem to figure it out on Mac Server 10.5 I have tried the mysql.server and MySQLCOM but that does not work.
    Where is the Mac Server OSX main startup script(s) so I can copy the line that starts MySQL?

    Hi,
    mysqldump should work. I found it referenced in CCC and elsewhere
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2978. Unless your database is huge, it does not require stopping/starting the database manually.
    Backup the entire database with:
    mysqldump -u user_name -p your_password database_name > File_name.sql
    Restore with:
    mysql - u user_name -p your_password database_name < File_name.sql

    Hi,
    I am migrating my ejb application from weblogic to oracle 9i application server.What changes are needed to be made in code and what configuration changes are required.
    In my application i use a couple of session beans wherin a session bean calls the method of the other session bean which acceses the database.I am using a jdbc thin driver for the database connection. is it possible for a session bean to call a method of another session bean which access the database??This concept works well in weblogic where the current application is running.
    The problem is that while migrating the application to the orion server, it gives an OrionCMTException ...
    memory leak..etc.
    Could any one clarify.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi Avi and Harrison,
    Cease Fire avi!!!!.First of all let me clear the issue of posting the same problem twice.Well, when i mentioned the problem the first time , i found the title session bean deployment was not right and few people would look into it as it was a common problem so i thought it would be appropriate if i mentioned the title correctly , so i posted the query again with the change in title.
    Now coming to the answer for ur questions.
    The platform used is MS Windows NT.
    The (OC4J) version is 1.0.2.2.1.
    I am not using JDeveloper.
    The database is oracle 8i and i am using the thin driver.
    The beans to be deployed are stateless session beans.
    The client involved is a web client i.e a jsp application.
    The first session bean is as follows.

    But if the DBUTILITY session bean is changed to a simple bean and accessed the code works fine and i am able to retrieve the data.Is the problem there because u one session bean cannot access a database connection method from another one or could it be because of the driver???
    I hope i am clear.Please revert back in case any more references are needed.
