Webmail Server

Hello, I am not able to use anymore the webmail server on the Mac Os Lion Server. No information available and the previous solution did not work. AppleCare is not of any good help. Anybody got any ideas how to solve it? Connection to server, mails, cal, works, however if I click view server Web site, it does not work. Safari can't open the page, because Safari can't find the server. Any solution would help. Also in the library, I don't find the apache anymore.
Thanks for letting me know any solution which might help.

The webserver is running.
Here is the result.
___:~ ___$ sudo serveradmin status web
Password:
web:state = "RUNNING"
ifas:~ ____$ sudo webappctl status -
web:webAppState = _empty_array
___:~ ___$
I tried it with AppleCare but they were not of any great help. Anyway, I am able to connect to the server via the IP, but are not able to use the online services. Wiki immediately switches off.
This might be of help. If i go onto the folder - previous system - i have there the ETC and the apache2. The folder seems to be hidden. However it might has to do with the view document root content.
But i am not sure.

What email provider are you using? Have you ever been able to connect or recieve emails on your iPhone?
Try the suggestions in this Apple doc -> iOS: Unable to send or receive email

  • Safari cannot open webmail server page

Even after Yosemite update problem not fixed. Still cannot access  emails on server webmail page.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

I'm using Pop3. I can see 4 messages on webmail.frontier.com server. I run Thunderbird, it says "Downloading 1 of 5 messages", but the green bar just sits there and never completes any of the downloads. One message is stuck in the pipeline somewhere. • Can Mail access the sent messages on my POP3 server (webmail)?

    Hi there,
I recently got a blackberry, mainly for the email etc. It's all great, but I have stumbled on an issue that I can't figure out:
When I send an email from it, it somehow gets a copy of the sent email into the sent items on my webmail server. But how can I get a copy of my sent messages into my Mac Mail?
In the Mail preferences, I see that there are settings regarding the inbox, but nothing that I have found lets me import messages that I have sent via webmail - or that are in my different webmail "sent items" folders.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!!

Blackberry/RIM has their own proprietary email service, so assuming you could access your sent messages, you would need to find out from them how you would do it. Normally, POP mail is not stored on servers, that is when you receive mail it's immediately downloaded to your computer unless you set a flag in your email application to save a copy on the server. Sent mail doesn't originate from your email server, so it's all stored locally. I would presume storing sent mail on a Blackberry wouldn't make a great deal of sense because it would eat a lot of memory space of which there's not a great deal on a cell phone.
Perhaps RIM's mail is IMAP rather than POP where everything is on the server.

  • Mail.app sending sent items to the wrong folder on server

In Mail.app, I have the following checked:
"Store sent messages on the server" (which copies messages to "Sent Messages" on the server)
"Store deleted messages on the server" checked (which copies messages to "Deleted Messages" on the server)
But when I use my webmail, it uses "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items" for sent and deleted files.
How do I set Mail.app to use the correct folders?

this is because Mail creates its own Sent and Trash folders on the server by default. they are called "Sent Messages" and "Deleted messages". a webmail server might have different default mailboxes for that. yours apparently uses "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items". You can tell Mail to use the same mailboxes as Webmail does as follows. select "Sent Items' mailbox in the imap section of your email account in the lower part of the sidebar in Mail. then go to Mailbox menu->use this mailbox for->Sent. do the same with "Deleted Items".

  • Using webmail in Mozilla Firefox 17.0.1 on Windows 8, original messages get turned into html code when I reply to or forward them. How can I fix this?

I have tried re-setting Firefox and working in Safe Mode, but the problem still recurs. I use Fastmail as my webmail server and never had this problem on Windows XP or Windows 7. When I reply to a message, the original message is turned into html code. The same happens when I forward a message.
My JavaScript is up to date, in case that's relevant. The Fastmail support team suggested the problem would be Firefox-related.
The other function of my Fastmail account that isn't working properly in Firefox 17.0.1. is the search function.
Do I need to get new plugins or something? I don't know where the HTML editor is in Firefox or if that's what's wrong.
    Regards,
    Rachel

Thanks for your reply, cor-el. Norton 360 came pre-installed on the laptop as part of the package I bought. I haven't changed the pre-set firewall or anti-virus settings. Should I change something?
I will try rebooting in Windows Safe mode as you say and report if that makes any difference.

  • Want to delete mails from Thunderbird but not from the server?

    Hi,
Please tell me how to configure the settings of Thunderbird so that if i delete any mail from Thunderbird that mail would be delete only from Thunderbird not from server. I'm using IMAP configuration for all my mail accounts and I'm using Thunderbird in my laptop and tablet both.
Currently i'm using Thunderbird 24.4.0 and i just want to delete my useless mails from Thunderbird but not from the server without using pop-3 settings.
Actually the reason for this Question arises because whenever i use to uninstall and reinstatement Thunderbird, i use to take "profiles" as a back up and its size is increasing day by day that is making a big issue to me as i cant take a back up of such a big size file.

Imap mail accounts keep the emails on the server and you see a remote view of those emails and folders.
When you subscribe to see a folder, the headers are downloaded, when you select an email to read, the entire folder is downloaded to a temp cache facilitating quicker access. If you synchronize folders, then a copy of that folder is downloaded to an mbox file in your profile, so that you have a copy of the server folder. When you make any changes to a synchronized folder, read an email, delete or move etc, then Thunderbird will resynchronize with the server to update the server. A synchronized folder allows you to work in 'offline' mode and this is the best time to perform a backup as you know there is a temporary stop on synchronizing as you are offline. They will resynchronize when you go back into 'online' mode.
So, with IMAP mail accounts, the folders you see in Thunderbird are the same folders on the webmail server. If you make any changes via Thunderbird or webmail then you are changing the same folder. You cannot delete an email without deleting it from the server, they are one and the same.
What you can do is move/copy an email into Local Folders and delete the one on the server. The Local Folders emails are kept in your Profile on your computer, these folders/emails are not on the server, unless you chose to keep a copy of them on the server.
Pop mail accounts cannot see the folders on the server. They only access the server Inbox folder and download emails not previously downloaded to the mail account Inbox in Thunderbird. These emails are kept on your computer in your profile folder. You can select to keep a copy on the server or not. You can choose to delete emails off your computer and off the server or not.
If the mail account is gmail , have you subscribed or even synchronized to see the 'All Mail' folder ? Gmail's all Mail folder is their Archive folder, it keeps a copy of all of your non-deleted emails. So, you do not need to subscribe to see this folder as it only shows you what you can already see in other folders. It doubles the disc space.
Please read section on 'All Mail' at this link.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Gmail_with_Thunderbird_and_Mozilla_Suite
You do not have to download/synchronize the entire folder. You could select to only synchronize the most recent xx days of emails.
    see info here:

  • Mail, Server Admin, MySQL running very, very slow

    Hi all,
I have this Leopard Server on a Mac Mini and I experience some big bottlenecks on mail services (especially webmail), Server Admin connections (both local and remote), and also connections with mySQL clients (remote). Local MySQL is working fine. It is not the same for mail and Server Admin. They are very slow also for local connections. Any idea? Hint: I'm using a USB-ethernet adapter (from Apple) for my public IP's (I have 2 of them) and I use built-in ethernet for local network. I've switched them, I tried only with the built-in ethernet... no change. Please help... my enthusiasm about this server solution is getting lower and lower... Thank you very much

Have a look at system.log and mailaccess.log for clues to begin with.
Server Admin is usually slow (locally and remotely) when the DNS (forward and reverse) setup is not correct.
Since mySQL seems to have only problems when used remotely, I'd look at bandwidth, routers and switches involved.
Is mail only slow when used via webmail or via any IMAP client?
    You're a genius as usually
It seems that I removed my reverse zone accidentally... I didn't even think to look at DNS setting before you told me... Thank you very much

  • Webmail in Solaris

Hi we have Solaris 5.7 on a SparcClassic server, and we would like to know if its possible to have a WEBMail service in Solaris???
    Thank's Junior

    HI
I thought that Sparc Classic was history !!! Anyway, what would you
be looking at as a Webmail server ? Do you want your server as mail host ? Or do you want to use it as a client ?
You can always use the good old sendmail to set up your server as a mail server. Also, there are any number of free email softwares that run well on Sun SOlaris like Eudora,Procmail etc. You can get a good idea on them at http://www.sunfreeware.com.
You can use the dtmail or mailtool or even mailx to compose, send and recieve mails if you want to use your system as a mila client.

  • Unable to access webmail in browser and Mac Mail

I am a Mac convert from PC and I love my Macbook Pro with Retina display that came with Mountal Lion. Until recently after my visit overseas, I am neither able to access my ISPs webmail through Safari or Firefox on my laptop nor through Mac Mail app with unchanged settings provided by Road Runner, such as webmail.kc.rr.com, apop-server.kc.rr.com/smtp-server.kc.rr.com/110/25. Safari is too slow and hangs with connection errors for webmail. My ISPs id is my business id I use as I travel overseas constantly. I spent several hours and had my spouse call in local tech support and it is a pain having to call your spouse to login and forward email to a public email. Any help is appreciated as my ISP has been anything but helpful in resolving this issue blaming the OS.

Thanks for your reply, Sig. I spent over three hours with my ISPs support tech, deleted and added my account, and even rebuild was of no avail. From Terminal, I am able to ping and I get an IP address but when I try connecting to webmail server, the browser returns an connection error, in Mac Mail I get the following message,
    "Unable to receive Mail -
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Road Runner” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop-server.kc.rr.com” on port 110 timed out." The tech asked me to check with the local ISP who directed me to ask Road Runner to clear the block off SMTP port.
I have not used mail2web until now, but would give it a try if it resolves my issue. Thanks for your help and assistance.

HI - so far as I know it's a standard webmail operation. In this case it is with Virginmedia. The problem is that i have closed my account with them and a 3 month grace-period where my email account is still active is about to come to an end. After that I won't have access to my emails. So I need to download them from the server. I can currently access them but i do not know what settings to put into either the webmail or my Mac Mail app.
(in other words I want to store all my emails permanently on my Macbook and not on any server).
I'm very grateful for any guidance on this. I don't want to lose the emails.
