Webmethods to SAP PI

Hi All,
we have a requirement to replace/migrate the existing interfaces in web methods to SAP PI. Could you please provide me with details of how do we go about doing this implementation and what are the measure that we need to consider when we go in for this migration.
Is there a possibility of using the existing details in webmethods as such in PI, or should we completely create new interfaces in PI understanding the existing interface logic.
Also I have seen few blogs showing we need to use the webMethods XI Adapter,  do we need to apply some patches when we are using it in PI 7.1
Please provide your inputs.
Regards,
Nithiyanandam

refer my blog, let us know still you need any info.

  • Migration from webmethods to SAP PI 7.1

    Hi All,
I need some information on migrating webmethods to PI 7.1.
We have our interfaces currently working in webmethods which call webservices in SAP.Currently legacy systems call SAP webservices through webmethods which we would like to migrate to PI 7.1.
Could I get some information on how to proceed with this?
    1.Could I get the overview
2.Can I import the same structure and mappings into SAP PI?
3.Do I need to recreate the mappings or use the same from webmethods ..if they are XSLT mappings?
4.Can I use the mapping transformation done in webmethods ?
Any thoughts would be of great help
    Thanks,
    C

1)Only XSLT Mapping program can be reused in PI7.1,most of the times without change, sometimes it required change when you have java functions in  XSLT Mapping.
Adjust your XSLT mapping programs compatible to without using XML TOOL kit option in Operation mapping.
    2) To understand the web methods flow , you should have some basic /medium level of knowledge , then you can easily understand the mapping logic implemented in Web Methods.
    3) When you developing interface use Web methods for only mapping logic, donu2019t try to implement the same design what developed in Web Methods. Think PI prospective. The way web methods execute interface is differ compare to PI (execution process).
4)If any java services existing in current web method interfaces, you canu2019t use the same as java mapping program in PI,in web methods we can perform state full operation from java services in web methods. But in PI it is strictly avoided performing state full operation like retrieving the data/sending data to Data base using Java map.
    5) If your client forcing you to use XSLT mappings then only use, else implement the same logic using GUI mapping in PI.
    6) Connecting to SAP systems and non SAP system use Adapters in PI,it is very easy . Follow standard way of communication using PI ,donu2019t try to copy from Web METHODS.

  • Is webmethods for sap (extension to SAP BC)support ECC 5.0 or not ?

    Hi All ,
SAP stopped Business Connector usage at 4.7 and the users of it having a choice to migrate to XI but the integration services already done in business connector must be redevolped when you migrate.
But there is another option ...Webmethods for SAP which provides advanced features for the business connector users without switching over to XI.
This solution is cost effective when compared to migrating to XI.
But the question is ....whether Webmethods for SAP support ECC 5.0 are not?
    http://www1.webmethods.com/PDF/webMethods_for_SAP-wp.pdf
in this document no info regarding this.....

  • ABAP Debug Mode in SAP and webMethods

    HI,
Can anyone help resolve why I am receiving this message when I set the ABAP debug mode to yes on the SAP server? com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (105) ERROR_NO_DIALOG_USER: ERROR_NO_DIALOG

    HI,
Very possibly the webMethods generic "SAP User" is set up as a "CPI-C" user in SAP. This means that this user can never log directly onto the SAP system, or participate in a 'dialog process' (actual GUI interraction). This is a common approach to ensure that no one can actually log onto the SAP system using this user id (other licensing issues may apply).
    Reward Points if found helpfull..

  • Integrating with SAP SRM 4.0

    Hi all,
I'm currently involved in an e-procurement project that will have to integrate SAP SRM 4.0 with the EAI solution of our company (webMethods).
As I don't know much about SRM 4.0 technology, I'd like to know the standard way of integration with SRM 4.0:
    - Is SRM 4.0 capable of exposing IDocs?
    - Is SRM 4.0 capable of invoking BAPIs?
    - If so, how can a Purchase Order put into the arguments of the BAPI?
    - Is SRM 4.0 compelled to talk with XML messages (particularly SOAP XI) or are IDocs and BAPIs a suitable solution?
    - Is SRM 4.0 standard output xCBL?
    - Can SRM 4.0 expose and invoke Web Services natively?
In other words, I'd like to know whether we are obliged to use the XI Content of SRM 4.0 in order to integrate with webMethods. We have already done integration with R/3 4.6 and we used IDocs with the SAP Adapter. We would like to capitalize on our previous experience and save us from having to assess the feasibility of an integration with SRM via XI.
Thank you in advance for all your answers.
    Regards,
    /ML

    Hi Marcel,
Underlying technology is WAS (Web Application Server) which is an enhanced version of the middleware BASIS technology used by 46C. XI is a replacement for messaging platforms like webmethods, so if you are using webmethods with SAP adaptor you don't need to use XI because you are already using a messaging platform. Only reason you may want to use XI would be if you can build upon the XI content available to you. If you are not interested in the XI content then go ahead and use webmethods using SAP adaptor to connect to SRM. I don't see any problem in that.

  • What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?

    Hi Friends,
What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Samuel Melvin ,
The SAP BC is basically WebMethod's product supplied free of charge to SAP customers.
SAP XI is a purchased product from SAP that can be used to integrate multiple systems, you would need to contact your SAP Account rep to discuss licensing issues. You cannot download it for free from sapnet.
It is probably more relevant to discuss the comparison between these solutions based on a specific scenario, but here are some basic differences. Obviously, the foremost one being that the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) belongs to the SAP Netweaver technology suite, whereas Business Connector although bundled by SAP is really a Integration tool provided by Web Methods.
Being a Netweaver solution the SAP XI is central in design and configuration. The SAP XI is really integrated as a required solution for some of new mySAP solutions like SRM. For example, the mySAP SRM business scenario for Supplier Self Services in EBP requires the implementation of SAP XI, the Business connector cannot be utilized to replace this scenario. Although the SAP Business Connector can still be utilized with SRM for all XML based communication. Both mySAP SRM and XI runs natively on the SAP WebAS Server.
The Business Connector is a point to point solution that provides messaging and routing. Currently a number of organizations using the Business Connector utilize it to communicate between its partners using XML based messaging. This can be achieved using SAP XI as well, but SAP's strategy is to utilize XI as a central hub for messaging, routing, and communication between all SAP, non-SAP systems as well as partners. As SAP XI is a relatively new solution, organizations that are looking for communicating with their partners to exchange XML based documents or other point-to-point scenarios can still utilize SAP Business connector.
Initially, when SAP announced the SAP XI, there was a notion that SAP Business Connector would be phased out and SAP XI would be the solution utilized hereon. But SAP will continue to support the Business Connector, the SAP Exchange Infrastructure will remain as the SAP's strategic integration solution. All new and or updated SAP solutions will make use of the XI for all process-centric, message based integration. As upgrades are scheduled and new solutions deployed we'll see the mandated need for XI but currently the only solution that natively requires SAP XI is mySAP SRM 2.0.
It will be interesting to see how organizations that already utilize SAP Business Connector warm up the SAP XI idea. But for the most part they will not have a choice really, as the new mySAP products are going to natively require the use of SAP XI for all process-centric integration between the different SAP solutions. But there is no reason why organizations cannot continue to utilize the SAP Business Connector for all point-to-point solutions already deployed with possibly document exchange and partner integration. Hope this helps.

  • SAP BC Vs SAP XI

    Hi,
We are currently using SAP BC and planning to migrate to SAP XI. I need to prepare a presentation which should explain the disadvantages of SAP BC and how those issues can corrected or easily implemented using SAP XI. Thanks in advance.

    hi raja..
    this wud answer u....
this was an explanation given to me by sameer...(too good)...
SAP XI belongs to SAP Netweaver Technology, whereas BC is an Integration tool provided by Webmethods.
SAP XI is based on a model called "Hub & Spoke" and Business Connectors are "point to point". So by using XI, what happens is that you do not redesign Solutions once again.
With XI you save the entire integration knowledge of a collaborative process centrally in SAP XI: Objects at design time in the Integration Repository and objects at configuration time in the Integration Directory. In this way, SAP Exchange Infrastructure follows the principle of shared collaboration knowledge: You no longer need to search for information about a collaborative process in each of the systems involved, but can call this information centrally instead. This procedure considerably reduces the costs for the development and maintenance of the shared applications.
Also SAP XI comes with pre-configured solutions bundled along with it, so you can straight-away use the solution instead of redesigning.
Also i believe SAP XI is integrated as a required solution for some new mySAP solution like SRM, there are some scenarios within SRM requires SAP XI to be used and we cannot use BC's there.
But incase if you do not have multiple systems connected and communication is between just 2 systems, BC should be sufficient, instead of investing on XI.
But i guess slowly SAP will be stopping its support for BC, as SAP XI can do everything that BC does and even much more.
    regards...
    vishal

  • What is Pre delivered content in SAP XI context ??

    1. What is Pre delivered content in SAP XI .Can some one clearly explain this.
    2. Why should a customer move from an existing middleware (webMethods) to SAP XI.What cud be the strong reasons possible.
    Regards,
    Nandini

    Hi,
Customer move from an existing middleware (webMethods) to SAP XI, because of the features of the XI.
Check this link, then you can know the all middleware features, here you can compare the features
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_business_integration_software
XI is well suited for connecting SAP systems with each other and with non-SAP. SAP XI provides an integrated workflow engine that allows defining adapters to non-XML protocols and mappings to convert data content from source to target format.
XI comes handy particularly incase of SAP - Non SAP interfaces where you can import standard integration content. Also XI has got sophisticated open standard adapter framework which is very easy to implement and custom logic can be implemented using Adapter module programming.
    Advantages
u2022Monitoring is better than any other middleware product. It offers exhaustive monitoring features like message, performance, component monitoring etc, all of which can be used to track and rectify the errors. It follows a hub and spoke model.
u2022When you need to integrate with an SAP system XI has an advantage in supporting various SAP components and so on.
u2022Process functionalities inside XI to modify content in the communication channel on own defined rules for business purposes.
u2022Mappings and adapters are good as comparable with any other middleware product.
u2022Synchronous & Asynchronous communication is possible.

Between webpages is quite simple.  It sounds like your Xacute Query template and BLS are configured to receive the properties, so make sure the web page containing your applet uses an irpt extension and then add the following lines within your applet tags to receive the tokens for the query:
    <PARAM NAME="Param.1" VALUE="{LowRange}">
    <PARAM NAME="Param.2" VALUE="{HighRange}">
Then call your page with a URL like:  ...Page.irpt?LowRange=0&HighRange=100
If you look at the web page examples in the Module Library template downloads here on SDN you'll see examples like this, as well as others.

  • Webmehods unable to lookup IDOC in SAP

    Hi
We have some IDOCS in SAP.
Webmethods is talking to SAP and looking up these IDOCS.
However it is unable to lookup all the IDOCS.
    We are using ECC6 system.
On further observation we've observed that IDOCS with release 4.6 are lookedup by Webmethods but IDOCS with release 700 ae not looked up.
What is the reason for this?
This is the error message that Webmethods gets

    HI,

Maybe you have the wrong Messagetype or reimport the Metadato for ORDERS05.ZGSLSITE_CO.

  • SAP BC End-of-life?

It appears that SAP Business Connector is effectively coming to end-of-life next March.  Can this be the case?
    1)  SUN has started the Java 1.3.1 end-of-life process.  The end-of-life is currently set to March 30, 2006.  See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html for details.
    2)  SAP Business Connector 4.7 supports JDK 1.3.1 but has no planned support for subsequent JDKs.  See SAP Note 309834 for details.

This is true. Business connector is based on Third Party product ( Webmethods ), now SAP has it's own Exchange Infrastructure (XI) component in Netweaver. Nothing new about this.

I think a few years back, it would have had a greater impact. "Back in the day", WebMethods and SAP had their partnership....basically, they created a "stripped down" version of the WebMethods product and that was the "Business Connector". However, since then, that Business Connector was pretty much replaced (and greatly improved/enchanced) with SAP's own XI. So now, I don't see it having more than a small ripple effect.
Take notice though....this is just a small example of the battlegrounds...In the Oracle vs. SAP war, both sides have been snatching up smaller "strategic" companies. The struggle is FARRRRR from over. =)
*note: I still have my WebMethods t-shirt that came vacum sealed in the shape of a gear from TechEd back in 1998 or 99. =)

  • Webmethods and Software AG

When I heard that a rival software company had bought Webmethods I thought "Oracle" but was surprised to hear that it was a german unit, Software AG that was the buyer.  My company uses webmethods quite a lot so I am happy that my initial idea was wrong but I am interested in hearing your thought on this market.  Will this have any effect in the marketplace?  Who is next to be bought and why?
