Webogic cluster query

Hi,
We are implementing our application on weblogic cluster. Earlier it was on single instance. Had some question's regarding WLcluster working.
1> Do we need separate path for application files or can it be at shared location used different managed servers.
2> If there are two app server say server1 (ip 10.10.10.10 port 7002) and server2 (ip 10.10.10.11 port 7002) in single cluster, where should we hit the request and how the load is equally balanced among both server.
3> It is better to create different resources (jdbc, jms) for each server in a cluster or should we create single and assign it to whole cluster (what is best practice).
Thanks in advance..

1> Do we need separate path for application files or can it be at shared location used different managed servers.
NO. Its Not Required. Basically, you login into weblogic admin console, and from Deployments section you will Deploy your App to the Cluster. So at that time, when you browse and choose your app ear file, weblogic will store it internally in one of the folder structures under your domain root folder. Usually, it goes to like domain/servers/adminserver/upload folder structure. Or it can be anything. But the point is, you do not need to specify any particular location. Some people what they do is, upload the ear file using like ftp client to a folder on the machine having admin server. And at time of deployment, they choose this location. You do not need to worry about how this gets shared across another managed server on a different host. Weblogic will take care of this.
2> If there are two app server say server1 (ip 10.10.10.10 port 7002) and server2 (ip 10.10.10.11 port 7002) in single cluster, where should we hit the request and how the load is equally balanced among both server.
NOW, this is where you need to configure something called Web Server or Load Balancer in front of the cluster. Many customers use Apache HTTP Server as Web Server and configure one file like httpd.conf file to give above details. Now end users will access this Apache host and port like apachehost and port 80. Apache internally will do Load Balancing, fail over etc. So you need to configure a load balancer in front. Generally, we do not give individual host, port to access the application on cluster. Refer online docs for more details.
3> It is better to create different resources (jdbc, jms) for each server in a cluster or should we create single and assign it to whole cluster (what is best practice).
Assign Single and Target to the Entire Cluster. Say create a DataSource, give all db connection pools, and Target this to Entire Cluster (internally, it will replicate and accessible to both managed servers). Now for JMS Queues, I guess you do specific to each managed server with some prefixes like _1, _2 etc. I do not have all details. But general practice is to target to cluster.

  • Enterprise bpm cluster query urgent please

    Hello
I have 3 machines one 1st machine it is admin server and other 2 are managed servers
I will install weblogic on all 3 machines and then create a domain but my query is to do with BPM enterprise.Should I install bpm enterprise on all 3 machines as well or just on 1 machine(admin machine/1st machine) ? this is my doubt can you please clarify..
    it is pretty urgent
    thanks

With one machine is enough, then you will deploy to the WLS cluster at the end of the day you do not need to have BPM installed except for the Process Administrator.

  • Cluster query

I have got a query regarding adding an additional L2 switch to a network.
I look after a manufacturing site which has 1 main comms room and 5 subcomms.
A total of 25 L2 switches and 2 L3 switches with redundant ISDN
I needed to had an additional L2 switch to an exiting cluster, in one of the sub comms. which I have dome before.
I preconfigured this new switch before hand, but left the vlan config out.
The one thing I forgot to do was change the vtp mode, which was set to client. I was intending to change it to a transparent status before i introduced it to the live network.
Anyway I added the switch to the existing stack and had problems adding it as a cluster member.
Looking at the current cluster config, I noticed that the cluster was configured incorrectly regarding a non exit cluster commander mac address. I presume this was down to this stack, being first preconfigured in a lab and then put in to a live environment.
Anyway I decide to go a head and remove the exiting cluster and create a new one.
One of the existing life stack switches was a vtp server, but for some reason (which I hope you people will enlighten me on this)
As soon as I removed this cluster config all the switches inherited the new switch vlan’s config, which in turn brought the network to a stand still.
Why would a vtp client overwrite a vtp server config when the cluster for that stack is removed?
I have since recreated this problem in a lab environment with the new switch in a vtp transparent status from the start and then change it to a client status to inherit the life vlan config and it all work correctly.
can some one enlighten me VTP once again.

Unfortunately, a VTP client can update a VTP server if it has a higher revision level when you attach it to the network. In fact, both client and server anounce their configurations, and there is nothing in the protocol format that tells you whether it is a client or a server talking. In fact, the only difference between client and server is whether the CLI will allow you to manipulate the database.
Here is a document with a really neat flash animation that tells you about it:

    Hi AliahMurfy,
Could you capture a screen of “active node and resource” like, does the found two printer are published in AD? Does the found active cluster node is one of the printer cluster?
If you are trying to publish printer please install the following hotfix first.

  • How to Setup Multicast Address on Solaris 2.6 (Back to the well again)

              Basic Cluster Query,
Several weeks ago, I was thrashing about trying to verify the syntax for setting
up a multicast address on Solaris 2.6 in preparation for implementing Weblogic
6.0 clustering. The command syntax was:
              ifconfig {interface}:{virtual#} plumb
              ifconfig {interface}:{virtual#} {multicast_address} up
The commands succeeded on the first and second servers without errors, but unbeknownst
to me there were errors reported on the second host concerning duplicate address.
              The errors were:
unix: WARNING: IP: Hardware address '08:00:20:a6:ed:0a'
trying to be our address 237.000.000.008!
The server halted today after several weeks; however, it is not clear whether
the multicast address caused the halt. Neither Weblogic nor Sun documentation
have been helpful. Can anyone provide guidance on setting up multicast address
              on Solaris 2.6?
              Bewildered,
              Dan

    Dan,
I don't think that BEA specifically takes any stand regarding the
configuration of operating systems. The problem is that the
administration of Unix machines and networking is a very complex and
sensitive subject for most companies (e.g., they have entire departments
dedicated to this) and BEA tries not to enforce any more configuration
              specifications than it has to.
With regards to multicast, most newer versions of the major operating
systems (including Solaris) have support for multicast turned on "out of
the box". However, it is possible for your administrator to muck around
with your machine's network settings so that multicast does not work
properly or is disabled entirely. Most people in BEA support do not
know enough about low-level Unix TCP/IP administration to be able to
properly guide you to "configure multicast" if it is not working
properly. Even if they did, we wouldn't know what your administrator
might have done or why they did what they did so it is generally best to
get your Unix administrators involved because they really (should) have
the knowledge of the machine's configuration.
We do, however, provide a Java utility program called
utils.MulticastTest that can help you to determine whether or not
multicast is working correctly on your machine.
              Hope this helps,
              Robert

  • Clustering a JMS Topic

I'm trying to create a distributed JMS topic using the wlconfig ant task (MBean).
I can create a topic on a single server fine, but I can't figure out how to create a distributed topic that I could access on any server in the cluster.
This is what I have so far, which seems to run, but I can't lookup the topic under the JNDI name in the server,

Hi, We configured a distributed cache. 2 nodes in the cache will have local storage and the local node without the local storage. Some times it works and some times We are getting the following error:

    Hi Kris,
I can't tell from the exchange so far if this is a possibility, but I've seen very similar behavior when launching JVMs from a shell script like:
    java com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer &
    java com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer &
    java -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=false test.Test
The problem is that the background spawn process is fast enough (and the discovery process slow enough) that the storage disabled node can in some cases start up, join its own cluster, query for membership, and exit before the storage-enabled nodes have even joined the cluster.
The simplest solution (for testing) is to place a polling loop at the beginning of the storage-disabled main() which blocks until storage-enabled nodes have been started:
    NamedCache cache = ...;
    DistributedCacheService service = (DistributedCacheService)cache.getCacheService();
    while (service.getStorageEnabledMembers().size() == 0) { Thread.sleep(1000); }Jon Purdy

    Hi experts,

    Hi Viswanathan,
It is not recommended to access them directly due to there size like tables BSEG, CDPOS.
Report may run smooth on dev but will slow down as data increases in case of production server.
There are alternative tables available for their substitution. Which table(s) are you trying to access anyways ?

  • RedHat Enterprise Cluster and Cisco IGMP Snooping/Querying

Has anyone else had any experience with IGMP Snooping/Querying and RedHat Enterprise Cluster?
We have been experiencing a large amount of problems with this functionality.
We are running IGMP Querying in our environment and we recently set up a second querier.
    Here's the steps we took
    Existing querier:  192.168.3.248
    Everything was running fine.
Added a new querier on a different switch: 192.168.3.247
At this point, all of our RedHat Enterprise Clusters fenced themselves and needed to be restarted in order to restore
access.  In order to restart the RedHat Enterprise Clusters, the physical servers must be rebooted.
Are there any known issues with RedHat Enterprise Clustering and Cisco Switches (3750
series)?  I would expect the querier change to be seamless, but it does not seem that this
    is the case.

    Hi,
In our organizaiton we have Red Hat Cluster with 2 cisco switch (Model: cisco WS-C2960S-24TD-L, Version: "flash:/ c2960s-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3/c2960s-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin").
    - We are using HP Chassis c7000 and Server is on the chassis. There are 2 service IC & Med. Each server has one service primary and other secondary running.
    - The two cluster switches are connected each other with Ether channer trunk (1+1) link. Also these 2 switches are connected to our Mgmt switch for Server Admin access to HP Chassis via OA port. The Red Hat system has cluster lan (pri & sec) & OA lan (01 & 02 of HP chassis) connected to Cluster switches. The Mgmt VLAN is 501 - 172.31.10.0/24.
    Problem:
When the CluserSW01 goes down the cluser shifted to CluseterSW02 with Cluser_Secondary_LAN and OA2. But when the ClusterSW01 switch comes again than the communication breaks and cluster don come up.
I was thinking this is either STP or IGMP, well sure though. As these are production systems hence we also couldn't do much more test as well.
If you have face any such issue or have experience with it or know what the problem might be... kindly share with me.
    Thanks,
    Adnan

  • Performance Tuning for A016 (cluster table) Query

    Dear SDNers,
    Issue:
The report runs  successfully sometimes and sometimes the report gets timed out.
    My findings
Query which is taking a  long time to execute is the query on A016(cluster Table) to fetch the condition details
    SELECT kschl
             evrtn
             evrtp
             knumh
             FROM a016 INTO TABLE t_a016
             FOR ALL ENTRIES IN t_ekpo
             WHERE
             kappl EQ c_m (Application)
             AND kschl IN s_kschl
             AND evrtn = t_ekpo-ebeln
             AND evrtp = t_ekpo-ebelp.
where t_ekpo contains entries (4354)from ekko and ekpo based on the selection screen entries.
I see that a016 is a cluster table that is being used here and t_a016 contains (390*) records after the above fetch.
Dear readers,Please help me as to what has to be taken care of inorder to fine tune this select query?
what are the things that i need to make corrections in.
How can i make this fetch effective and faster?
Please help me with your inputs.
    Regards,
    SuryaD.

    Hi,
    1) Try to hit the table A016 with only unique entries of t_ekpo for EBELN and EBELP...
    Use some temp table lt_ekpo = t_ekpo
i.e. sort lt_ekpo by ebeln ebelp
delete adjacent duplicates from lt_ekpo comparing ebeln ebelp.
Now write you select query as below...So that the table might be hit with less number of entries...
    SELECT kschl
    evrtn
    evrtp
    knumh
    FROM a016 INTO TABLE t_a016
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN lt_ekpo
    WHERE
    kappl EQ c_m (Application)
    AND kschl IN s_kschl
    AND evrtn = lt_ekpo-ebeln
    AND evrtp = lt_ekpo-ebelp.
Please note that there will be no change in the output data if you hit with duplicate entries/unique as FOR ALL ENTRIES will fetch only unique entries matching the where condition.
    2) Order of where conditon fields should be same as the order in table for better performance...
    3) If you find any index on the table, try to include the fields in where condition(if possible) for better performance
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Shiva

  • Cluster bar chart- sql query please help-

    Hi,
I am trying to create cluster bar chart and am stumped with this sql query.Any help is appreciated.
    Here is my table
    city     region      issue     value
    c1     north     i1     y
    c1     north     i2     y
    c2     north     i1     n
    c2     north     i2     y
    c3     south     i1     y
    c3     south     i2     n
    c4     east     i1     n
    c4     east     i2     n
The bar chart will have 3 series, north south and east.
And labels will be i1 and i2. value will be number of times this issue was encountered(y) in this region.
How can I get something like this from the above table-
    region     issue     count(yes)
    north     i1     1
    north     i2     2
    south     i1     1
    south     i2     0
    east     i1     0
    east     i2     0
    thanks
