Ho do I create complex data types in my WSDL when using
returntype="xml"??
I have tried a few different things but for the life of me I
cannot figure it out.

If you open the Developer Guide of CFMX7
(cfmx7_dev_guide.pdf) page 909, there is a description how to
handle complex data types.

Hello all,
Question from customer:
"...Its not possible to user webservices in htmldb, that user complex types for paramater or return.
Creation htmldb webservice formulars work only with literal soap data types. But soap xsd support complex types or arrays. Thus, we can not use htmldb for accessing such services. .."
If customer uses complex datatypes it appears a ora-20001.
Is there a way to use complex datatypes for webservices in htmldb or will it be included in a new release or patch?

I'm having the exact same problem, trying to communicate with Oracle Wireless webservices from htmldb,
which kind of made me dissapointed because they are both Oracle products! Basically what wireless wants is an array input and htmldb complains about this!
Any solutions?

Web Service Complex Datatypes

Does ColdFusion support nested complex data types when building Web Services? See example CFCs below. I keep getting a ServiceMethodNotFoundException. In my SubmitNoticeOfAppt.cfc, the cfargument data type is NoticeOfAppointment.CFC which references other CFCs that define complex data types. The complex types are needed to support a really complex XML document that must be NIEM (National Information Exchange Model) compliant. Originally tried passing the NIEM XML doument as a string, but receive deserialization errors, encounter child element. Could get around the error by wrapping the XML string in <![CDATA[ ... ]]>, but this convention is not NIEM compliant.

Coldfusion should be able to nest complex data types in your web service (after all, that's what the cfproperty tag was designed for). Unfortunately, I have more experience consuming complex web services than designing them in CF. My Recommendation - inspect your web service WSDL using a tool that will generate the sample SOAP XML that will be needed to consume your web service. You should be able to tell from that XML what the issue is - could be a missing namespace in your XML or strange nesting, etc.
We use SOAPSonar from Crosscheck networks - they have a feww personal version that will allow you to inspect your web service interface and it will even generate the sample XML needed to call it via SOAP.

Complex datatype in Web Services

The work involved in handling complex datatype as part of the Web Services
(JDev 9.0.3) seems to be very complex and not very well documented. (as
far as I can tell).
Is there an easy way for a Java client to bypass the deserialization altogether
and just get the raw SOAP XML as returned from a Web Service.
From the Raw XML, we could use the regular parsing tools to do whatever
is necessary with the data. For example, I would like to transform the
XML returned by using a simple XSL transformation.
This would bypass the complexity of mapping all elements of an object that
I would not really use in Java anyway. (I would pass the result of the XSL
transformation to a 'C' program (yes I know it's ugly, but I still use 'C' for
processing data...)
I would really appreciate if anybody had experience in doing something like
that.

Hi Denis - I think I might have run into a similar prob. I have been able create and successfully test a web service as long as the input object types are Strings. When I try to do this with a complex data type it fails. "Complex" in this case means an object containing 2 string and 1 double (i.e. not a standard java.lang objects for which serializers are predefined).
Did you encounter the following error message?
[SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Client; msg=No Deserializer found to deserialize a 'http://IWidgetConsumer.xsd:Widget' using encoding style 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/'. [java.lang.IllegalArgumentException]]

Exception in XML Parser (format problem?)

I am working on IDOC -> AS2 Configuration and the AS2 Configuration has the below structure

We are getting the expected Structure when we AS2 Receiver has the xml format. But while doing module development with the strctxml2Plain, we are getting the below error in RWB CC Monitoring.
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.trans.TransformException: Error converting Message: 'java.lang.Exception: Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.NullPointerException''; nested exception caused by: java.lang.Exception: Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.NullPointerException'
Any ideas, why this error we are getting.....

Hi Vasu,
Not in the Mapping of IR.
In BIC Mapping Designer you have to test with the standard Mappings by providing the sample file whether the Conversion is happening correctly or not.
You have to take the same input file that what ever you are having now.
So that it will say clearly what is the problem in converting the XMLto the required EDI Format...
Check whether you have any Date Format Values are comming from the input file.

My scenerio iam posting IDOC to a flat file with content conversion in the receiver side,the mapping got executed successfully and in the audit log i found that the error was after the 'Start converting XML document content to plain text'.
This means that error occured during content conversion of XML to the prescribed file format.
Can anyone suggest any better approach using which we may trace the junk data in IDoc. Manual adhoc approach could take time and is error prone.

Thanks for the early reply. I checked the mapping and everything is fine and the output is also in valid XML format.
The audit log shows that the mapping got executed successfully and the error is after the step 'Start converting XML document content to plain text '. Is there any constraint in the file adapter regarding the message size for parsing.

Xml schema validation problem

How to tackle this xml schema validation problem
i am using the sample code provided by ORacle technet for xml
schema validation in the Oracle database(817).
The sample code works perfectly fine.

It works fine for normal xml files validated against

if you are in the context of a J2EE 1.4 container, you do not need to generate any stub, you can use either a dynamic proxy mechanism or dynamic invocation.

External definition import WSDL complex type problem

Hi,
i have created a webservice using apache axis and created an external definition for the service. You can see the respective WSDL recognized by XI below. The service takes an array of adresses. Unfortunately, when I want to define the message mapping, theres only the array but not the address attributes. What would be a proper definition of the service?

Complex datatypes - WebServices/APIs

I'm attempting to learn how to manage Web Services/APIs. I'm using ColdFusion 8 and the webservice is open (no key or password required). With my createobject I don't see where to include the operation or method (see list below) like was done with the <cfinvoke>. With <cfinvoke> I had save the document as wscfc.cfm is it the same with createobject? Thanks for the suggestions TheRealAgentK.

How to pass values to XML complex type of a Webservice using PL/SQL

Have you tried doing a google search on "SOAP_API.add_parameter" to see what comes back? I see a lot of hits come back so hopefully one of those will help you. I've never used soap_api as I used utl_http to make WS calls. This required me to build the SOAP message (aka XML of a specific nature) by hand and then pass it to the WS using utl_http. How this approach is done via SOAP_API, I can't say.

Include xml schema in the WSDL of the web service

I have a bpel process where I want to call several web service, so therefore the web services should reference the same xsd schema. I use JDeveloper and Oracle PM 10.1.3.3.0.
I have a problem with including the schema in the wsdl of the web service, and I receive an error at deploying the web service.

(261705413) Q RPCC-21 Missing text/xml MIME-type for WSDL files?

Q<RPCC-21> Would it mess up the SOAP operations that clients do when using the
WSDL in a dynamic client to put a text/xml mime type in the WSDL-providing jsp?
A<RPCC-21>: It is a known issue that the MIME-type for WSDL files is not appropriately
transmitted so some web browsers will not identify an appropriate helper application
when they are viewed (for Netscape just press Ctrl-U to view the source). This,
however, does not affect the dynamic client as evidenced by the example code seen
in the code demonstration.

You probably already have the answer by now, but I just came across the same problem and found the answer elsewhere.
The trick is to have the JavaMail jar in your classpath BEFORE the JAF jar. Given the habit of my development environment to sort jars alphabetifally it had me stumped for a bit.
