Webservice client as a java webstart application

Hi
I have a webserviceclient which is a web start, so it has a jnlp in which i pass in the wsdl argument. But i get this exception saying that the wsdl could not be found. But i am sure it is deployed in the server, because when i enter that in the web browser it shows me. This application works fine when it runs within eclipse. It is the same argument i am passing through the jnlp file, but still get this error. Could any one please say what could be wrong.

  • How to launch a Java WebStart application with older JREs when Java 7u25 is on the client?

    How can I launch older versions of my Java WebStart application, that are built and run with Java 7u21 or earlier, even if Java 7u25 is installed locally on the client? Application launch and behaviour must be reliable and consistent.
    Background:
    As of 7u25 (and later), Java Webstart applications launch with a different class loader than pre-7u25.
    My Java Webstart application has supported versions that were built with older versions of the JDK (e.g. Java 5, 6, 7u21 or earlier). These applications run with their required JRE version, enforced through JNLP. Once Java 7u25 is installed locally, these older applications fail to launch, due to classloader differences.
    The question is: what is required to run older Java WebStart applications even if 7u25 (or later) Java Webstart is installed locally on the client?

    I confirm your findings when using shortcuts to try specific versions of JavaWS with 7u25 or later installed:
    JRE 5u14 launched and the classloader was as pre 7u25
    JRE 6u43 would not launch
    JRE 7u21 launched but the classloader was not as pre 7u25
    You can launch the shortcut with the JavaWS -verbose option to display a messagebox with valuable information.
    I am keeping a close watch on this thread.

  • I need to sign a java webstart application but Im no coder

    Hi
    I have a java webstart application that was writen for me by a coder that I can no longer contact. I was given all the souce code for the application including an unsigned jar file. What I would like to know is how do I go about getting the application signed by a trusted authority so that the people who use the app for the first time dont get the big ugly warnings. I have no java programing experience at all so any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Dean

    Please note that users will still get a message, because signing does not infer trust, it only establishes identity.

  • Java Webstart application problem with TLS certificate revocation checks (Java 1.7.0_76)

    We have a problem with our Java Web Start Application regarding the TLS certificate revocation check:
    The application is running on a server within a wide area network which is separated from the internet.
    The application users have access to the WAN, and also access to the internet over some corporate proxy/firewall.
    The user has to enter, for example "https://my-site.de/myapp/ma.jnlp" within a webbrowser or could also call  "javaws https://my-site.de/myapp/ma.jnlp" to start the application client.
    The webserver has a certificate from a trusted certificate authority. This certificate seems to be ok, the browser is even configured to perform OCSP status check.
    The application files are signed with a certificate from another trusted certificate authority. This certificate seems also to be ok. Regarding this certificate there
    are no problems with certificate revocation checks.
    The problem is, while starting the application client there is a message box which tell us something like "the connection to this website ist not trustworthy",
    "Website: https://my-site.de:80", and something about an invalid certificate, meaning the webserver certificate.
    Obviously the jvm runtime, which is executed on the users workstation, tries to perform a revocation check for the webservers certificate, but this fails because
    it cannot fetch the certificate under https://my-site.de:80.
    The application will execute without further problems after that message but the users are very concerned about the "invalid" certificate, so here are my questions:
    - Why is the application trying to get the webserver certificate over Port 80. Our application developers told me, there is no corresponding statement. Calling this address
      has to fail while "https://my-site.de:443" or "https://my-site.de" would not have a problem.
    - Is there a way to make the application go on without performing a tls revocation check? I mean, by adjusting the application sourcecode and not by configuring the users Java Control Panel.
      While disabling the TLS Certificate Revocation check in the Java Control Panel, the Webstart Application executes without a warning message, but this is not a workable solution for
      our users.
    It would be great if someone can help me with a hint so i can send our developers into the right direction;-)
    Many thanks!
    This is a part from a java console output after calling "javaws -verbose https://my-site.de/myapp/"

  • Webservice deployed on Sun Java System Application Server PE 8.2 (b06-fcs)

    I have deployed a simple web service on Sun One AS PE 8.2 (Can see the WSDL file on URL invocation). I am getting the following server side runtime exception when a standalone client tries to invoke the web service endpoint.
    A similar exception is reported in the following : http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4916266. The bug evaluation suggests that i use wscompile with -infix option. I did that but the same exception was raised. Can anybody throw light on this? Is there something which I missed out in the application. Thanks.

  • How to consume SOAP webservice in to my java/j2ee application

    Hi,
          I am a java developer. how to i consume SAP soap webservice in to my java application.
    scenario : 1
    We are migrating 2 specific java modules in to SAP System.But master details are stored in to my java application database.Those details are require
    to SAP application. So that they provide me WSDL file,  How to i consume soap webservice in to my java application and also, How to i provide master data details to SAP system through SOAP webservice.
    Any body provide me a detail instruction how to integrate SAP Application in to my java application using SOAP webservice. or
    In this scenario i will go for any one open source ESB to consume the soap webservice in to my java application, and provide master data to
    SAP application, can any one guide to me.

    Hi,
    What IDE are you using?, for example with Eclipse i used WSDL2JAVA plugin in this way i converted the WSDL in java classes easily. Depending your development environment you can use different tools that makes easier the integration using the WSDL.

  • Java WebStart application fails to load when cache is disabled.

    We have a problem with our application when using the latest version of Java (Update 20). We a lanching a jnlp file using Java WebStart.
    Until to the early release Update 21 b05, we had the following exception:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at java.util.jar.JarVerifier.mapSignersToCodeSource(Unknown Source)
         at java.util.jar.JarVerifier.mapSignersToCodeSources(Unknown Source)

    Which was fixed with the following bug resolution: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6943522
    Now with that latest version that initial problem got resolved, but a new one appeared. The problem described below, only appears when the "Java Cache"
    of the control panel is disabled. We tested all the following scenarios:
    - Cached data cleaned / Cache enabled: Works
    - Cached data / Cache enabled: Works
    - Cached data cleaned / Cache disabled -> Exception
    - Cached data / Cache disabled -> Exception
    * We have already check the signature of the resource manually and it is correctly signed.
    * We have checked the jnlp with JaNeLA, and it's good.
    * No matter what we change, every time Java Cache is disabled, we get the exception.
    The exception thrown is the following:

    Can someone give any light on this issue?
    For me it look very clearly like another bug related the first fix, but I wanted to pop the question here first.
    For now we are recommending our customers, to keep with Java Update 18 (Last working version),
    but it's becoming a bigger issue, since more and more customers are trying to update to the latest version.
    Regards.

    For me it look very clearly like another bug related the first fix, but I wanted to pop the question here first.Normally I would ask a lot of questions and demand more evidence before thinking of agreeing to such an assessment, but you seem to have put in the research needed to cover most of that.
    There were some recent (last month or three) reports of broken cache management, but AFAIR they were supposed to be fixed by update _20. Try update _21, and if that does not resolve the issue, raise a bug report with Sun.

  • Adding a WebService Client to a Web Application

    Hi, Everybody,
    I built a Bepl Module in which I had a ECHO WebService and the response parameter is a complex type.
    Then I built a Web application, and used the WSDL file to add a WebService Client to a this Web Application,
    but I found that the WebService Referrence dose not contain any method, so I could not add it in my jsp page.
    But when I changed the Response Message Part Type into a simple one, everything worked fine.
    *All the progress is the same as " [Using a Manually Created WSDL as a Web Service Client|https://open-esb.dev.java.net/kb/v2/javaeesetut.html] ", but change the simple type into complex type.*
    I want to know if the WebService Client Referrence dose not support generating java code which contains complex type or I had a wrong operation?
    thanks

    There are current limitations with the wsimport functionality and an issue has been logged.
    If you have a look at the blog entry from Andrew Hopkinson.....
    [http://blogs.sun.com/toxophily/entry/javacaps_tip_migrating_a_simple]
    ...you'll see part way down what the WSDL must look like to work with wsimport, i.e.....
    Message parts must be created using an Element rather than a specific type and the element must be defined in a local in-line schema.
    This in-line element can only contain a sequence with a single sub-element of a specific Complex Type.
    The name of the input element must be the same as the operation it will be used in.
    nillable element option should not be used because this will cause your strings to be returned as JAXBElements and not Strings.
    ...etc....
    Bit painful I know, but this is the only workaround until the bug is fixed.

  • How can I change java.policy at runtim on client machines using java webst?

    Hi,
    I have to change java.policy to launch my application through webstart to provide one RuntimePermission "permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "getClassLoader";"
    Its because of a bug in java bug "_http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4809366_"
    So, my problem here is, how can I do this dynamically on each client machine's java.policy.
    I have spent time on this and found some alternatives
    1. Specifying an Additional Policy File at Runtime by launching application "java -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=someURL SomeApp"
    Please refer more on this "http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/PolicyFiles.html"
    But, here the problem is, how can I do this using webstart (expert.jnlp) file even though I have the "java-vm-args" tag, its not supporting this argument.
    Please refer "http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/javaws/developersguide/syntax.html#security";
    2. Implementing the Policy in code.
    But, not sure how to do this..
    How can I grant the runtime permission on every user's machine dynamycally?
    Here are some background details on this:
    I am using java6 and weblogic 10.3.3.
    Here is thing that I tried,
    My application downloads a few jars to the client machines using java webstart and then it will get the initial context using the t3 protocal. The jars include wlclient.jar and ojdbc6.jar initially.
    The problem here I was facing, when I tried request a bean, it is giving me the following exception in the client logs.It is requesting one state less session bean and I checked the server logs as well and the bean has returned the expected values properly.
    But here I observed one more thing, before this request, one session bean(state less) has been requested successfully.

    The same is working in some other machine which are in different network. So, I have replaced the wlclient.jar with the wlthint3client.jar.
    After replacing this jar I was getting the below exception in client logs while requesting a state less session bean.I also checked whether the request is reaching the server (bean) or not, but its not reaching the server.The problem is same at all the machines irrespective of the networks.

    I have tried one more thing, I have taken all the required jars to one of the client machines and executed the main class (by setting the required class path) from cmd using java instead of javaws. Surprisingly, its working fine with out any problem using the wlthint3client.jar.
    I also tried the same, by placing wlclient.jar using java in the same way(from cmd instead of javaws ), but I was facing the same exception while requesting the second session bean and found the same above exception in client logs.
    To resolve this, I come across the java bug that I have given earlier "_http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4809366_".
    In that page, I found a work around for this; suggested by bea to add the Runtime permission "permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "getClassLoader";" to the clients java.policy
    So, please suggest me a way to resolve this problem.
    Please suggest me if you have any other solutions for this problem.
    Thanks in advance :)

    I still think your problem is nothing to do with that ancient non-bug and that you should be looking elsewhere. You might be lucky and find someone here who can say "Ah, I know what that is" but I doubt it because since Oracle took over Sun this site has gone down hill big time.

  • Automatic detection of installed version of Java WebStart

    Hi,
    1) In my html file I detect if Java webStart is installed on the client machine
    2) Is there a way to determine which version of Java webstart is installed?
    eg: Let's say the client machine has Java WebStart 1.0.1.01 installed and Java webStart 1.0.2.01 is available and supported, is there a way to prompt the client to upgarde to the latest version of WebStart.
    Is there a JavaScript or VBScript to detect installed version of Java WebStart?
    Thanks

    here is the detecting...
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    var javawsInstalled = 0;
    var javaws12Installed = 0;
    var javaws142Installed=0;
    isIE = "false";
    if (navigator.mimeTypes && navigator.mimeTypes.length) {
    x = navigator.mimeTypes['application/x-java-jnlp-file'];
    if (x) {
    javawsInstalled = 1;
    javaws12Installed=1;
    javaws142Installed=1;
    } else {
    isIE = "true";
    </SCRIPT>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">
    on error resume next
    If isIE = "true" Then
    If Not(IsObject(CreateObject("JavaWebStart.isInstalled"))) Then
    javawsInstalled = 0
    Else
    javawsInstalled = 1
    End If
    If Not(IsObject(CreateObject("JavaWebStart.isInstalled.1.4.2.0"))) Then
    javaws142Installed = 0
    Else
    javaws142Installed = 1
    End If
    End If
    </SCRIPT>
    and in the next page this is autdownload (for IE only)
    <OBJECT CODEBASE="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4_2-windows-i586.cab"
    CLASSID="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA" HEIGHT="0" WIDTH="0">

  • Certificate support in Java Swing application

    Hi There,
    I am new to this Certificate thing and running into issues! Would appreciate for all the help and please ignore for any stupid questions.
    Here is my scenario.
    1. I do have a client server application and client is a java swing application which connects to a Server application (Using Jetty 4.2.22 as embedded server)
    2. Initially, it had a self signed certificate but goal is to support third party certificate (i.e import in the server and then show warning to the client during login)
    If somebody has already done this or point me to some example (using Jetty APIs) that would be great help. If not, here is what I am trying to do and some questions.
    1. I tried to get some free SSL certificate from the web and imported into the server's KeyStore.
    If I do a list from the server using Keystore, this is what it looks like
    keytool -list -keystore /tmp/keystore -storepass genview
    Keystore type: JKS
    Keystore provider: SUN
    Your keystore contains 2 entries
    self, Dec 3, 2008, PrivateKeyEntry,
    Certificate fingerprint (MD5): 0D:58:E8:77:89:09:F8:2B:37:64:37:D5:03:AD:C9:0B
    rapid, Jan 6, 2009, trustedCertEntry,
    Certificate fingerprint (MD5): 64:9C:EF:2E:44:FC:C6:8F:52:07:D0:51:73:8F:CB:3
    QUESTION 1 : why the third party certificate's entry as "trustedCertEntry"? Is it always like this? Do I need to have only one certificate at a time? (If so, just remove the self signed and have 3rd party one)
    My Jetty server comes up but when I connect from Client Swing App, the "getServerCertificates()" method only returns one entry i.e self signed one but not the third party one.
    I am using like this
    URL url = new URL("https://127.0.0.1:port");
    HttpsURLConnection conn = (HttpsURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    conn.connect();
    Certificate[] certs = conn.getServerCertificates();
    Is not this API supposed to return all the server's certificate?
    Please guide me or instruct me what to do.
    Thanks,
    CRB

  • Java Webstart in Windows 7

    I have a Java Webstart application running on a Windows 7 Laptop. An Apache Tomcat webserver is also installed on this laptop so everything is self contained. When the laptop is not connected to a network and I start the application, Webstart gives me two instances of the application. When the laptop is connected to a network, I get one instance.
    I also have an identical installation on a Windows Vista PC. Irrespective of whether or not this PC is connected to a network, I always get one instance of the application when I start it.
    I would like to hear from anyone who has noticed similar behaviour and whether they have an explanation and whether they can advise if this is a 'bug' or a 'feature'.

    Thanks a lot for your reply.

  • Calling SAP GUI Client from a Java Webdynpro app.

    Hello experts,
    We would like to call the SAP GUI client from a java WebDynpro application running without portal or ITS. Can it be done by having a web link, with mime registration in internet explorer to kick off the SAP GUI ? (similar behavior with a SAP favorite link saved on the desktop).
    many Thanks.

    Hi,
    Webdynpro possibilities:
    1. You can try to use LinkToUrl.
    with reference to file://<exefile> or your weblink with the mime type (possibly some java coding can be required; I can try to help).
    2. other option is to use IFrame and you can use either href to your exe or weblink
    Web Explorers:
    1. IE: It should work. if you point to exe file popup window will be displayed asking for action (run, save, cance).
    2. Firefox: the only way I know to make it work is to modify nsHelperAppDlg.js file (if you need Firefox I can tell you how to modify the file).
    Kind Regards, Jack

  • Java WebStart and Mac OS X 10.8

    I'm a bit afraid that Java WebStart applications are encountering a problem with the latest OS X release because of the Gatekeeper settings preventing Java WebStart applications from running. Is it really true that if an application is not signed with an apple developer id that it will no longer be allowed to start unless changes are made to the Gatekeeper settings?
    https://blogs.oracle.com/talkingjavadeployment/entry/java_applications_and_gatekeeper
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/mac-faq.html#gatekeeper
    If this is the case then of course my question would be how can I additionally sign my webstart application built with maven on windows with a free apple developer id?

    doing a test app where you replace the .png with a .jpg might be a good idea. If you do not have a "test app", you probably should for JWS. It does not have to do much.
