Has anyone gotten the webservice.htc to work with Coldfusion?
If so, how did you do it. I'm trying to create a very complex form

  • Open letter to HTC and VZW

I'm a die hard VZW fan.  I have been with them for over 5 years.  Never had any problems with their network, no dropped calls, excellent signal, and quality hardware from its makers.  I even "converted" a couple of my friends over to the VZW network from one of their competitors.  My initial android device was Motorola Droid.  Yes the first droid.  Finally VZW offered a third choice to my phone selection, the other being Microsoft and Apple.  I love the network and heard rave reviews about HTC devices and how open they were.  Great battery life and the rest.
When time came about for me to upgrade to a new phone.  My Moto Droid still works but was dying for the latest and greatest.  I jumped right on over to the HTC thunderbolt.  At the time, there wasn't any other choice for me.  It didn't make sense to me to jump to another 3g phone since in two years time all phone will probably be on 4g.  I ordered the Thunderbolt the second week it came out.  I was stoked.  I knew that I couldn't use 4g yet.  I live in Portage, MI but I travel to Grand Rapids, MI every weekend.  So I knew sometime in 2011 I could use 4g.
A couple weeks ago I went on vacation and the very first city I used 4g in was Denver.  I was stoked at how fast it was. I switched it between using 4g to 3g cause I noticed my battery draining very fast.  But wow. . . even the 3g was faster in Denver than it was where I live.  I loved the thunderbolt except for the battery life.
I knew that a OTA would come out and was checking for a software update every now and then during my vacation.  I was hoping this would fix the battery issue.  It kinda did but. . . . now I'm suffering from random reboots.  Im looking on forum sites and saw an article on Engadget about the reboots.
The camel's back is slowly breaking here.  I got home and went back to work.  I noticed that my phone would reboot about 8 times all before noon.  The first day it has done that I went to the local verizon store.  The rep told me that VZW is working with HTC for a fix and it wouldn't be 3 to 4 months out either.   It would be sooner than that.
So what is happening now withe my thunderbolt?  I cannot do data from my home from whence I could get a 3g data signal.  Sometimes its 1x, sometimes its 3g but unable to do any data transfers.  I'm unable to do data while I'm on the phone.  My calls drop because my phone will reboot during a call from time to time.  And just this last weekend, my phone got stuck in a reboot cycle, HTC white screen, the thunderbolt animation, the cloud screen and then poof, back to the HTC white screen.  I ended up calling Verizon tech support, for help.  I took out my battery and put it back in.  Ok I'm back to the homescreen and it seems to be responsive.  And then I was told by the VZW tech support person that no one else is having reboot issues.  My jaw dropped.
Service and quality of software (firmware included)  have been quite subpar from what I am used to.  I know that implementing a new technology takes lots of testing yet some how I don't think enough testing was done.  Even from the design aspect, the thunderbolt seems to have its pit falls.  For instance:  the inability to charge the Thunderbolt while using the kickstand.   I know not every device is going to be perfect.
I some how feel that VZW or HTC owes Thunderbolt users something.  No I don't want a refurbished phone.  I would like a brand new HTC thunderbolt with the ability to:  1.  not have reboots  2. no dropped calls  3.  Ability to do data and voice at the same time (hence why there are two radios inside)   4.  Have network reliability back
Or offer me the 2 year discounted price to jump over to another HTC 4g device or even another 4g phone.  My confidence is waning with HTC and VZW.  I'm also seriously considering paying the amount to break my contract if you don't break it for me when you go to tiered data.  I'd even be happy with you offering to pay one month's bill or a portion of it to hold me over for the next month or so til we have a fix OTA update.
    dwindling loyalty,
    Benjamin

brief explaination of REST,Webservices,CSON and JSON

    http://www.simplecodestuffs.com/what-is-the-difference-between-http-and-rest-and-soap-in-web-services/
SOAP uses WSDL for communication between consumer and provider, whereas REST just uses XML or JSON to send and receive data
WSDL Defines contract between client and service and is static by its nature. In case of REST contract is somewhat complicated and is defined by HTTP, URI, Media Formats and Application Specific Coordination
Protocol. It’s highly dynamic unlike WSDL.
SOAP doesn’t return human readable result, while REST result is readable with is just plain XML or JSON
This is not true. Plain XML or JSON are not RESTful at all. None of them define any controls(i.e. links and link relations, method information, encoding information etc…) which is against REST as far as messages must be self contained and coordinate interaction
    between agent/client and service.
With links + semantic link relations clients should be able to determine what is next interaction step and follow these links and continue communication with service.
It is not necessary that messages be human readable, it’s possible to use cryptic format and build perfectly valid REST applications. It doesn’t matter whether message is human readable or not.
Thus, plain XML(application/xml) or JSON(application/json) are not sufficient formats for building REST applications. It’s always reasonable to use subset of these generic media types which have strong semantic meaning and offer enough control information(links
etc…) to coordinate interactions between client and server.
REST is over only HTTP. HTTP is most widely used and when we talk about REST web services we just assume HTTP. HTTP defines interface with it’s methods(GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH etc) and various headers
which can be used uniformly for interacting with resources. This uniformity can be achieved with other protocols as well.
REST permits many different data formats where as SOAP only permits XML.
While this may seem like it adds complexity to REST because you need to handle multiple formats, in my experience it has actually been quite beneficial. JSON usually is a better fit for data and parses much faster. REST allows better support for browser clients
due to it’€™s support for JSON.

  • BI webservice datasource and informatica integration

    Hi,
I have a requirement to extract data from Informatica using BI webservice datasource.
I haven't worked on webservice before and I am wondering if any one knows what I need to do on  BI side and Informatica to successfully get the connection working and load data successfully to BI.
    detailed steps will be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi Bhat:
Just to clarify that the Web Service Interface enables extraction from XML files. To extract data using Informatica PowerCenter you need to use the BAPI Interface.

  • Difference between webservices model and adaptive  webservices model

    hi
Can any one explain me regarding Difference between webservices model and adaptive  webservices model.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In old WS Model, ithere was no concept of logical destinations.
There if you are using a WSDL located on a server and if the location of the WSDL
changes, your application won't run. The deployed application using the WS Model will have trouble finding
the WSDL. As a result you'll have to again import the
model. Moreover old WS Model does not have re-import functionality.
But incase of AWS Model, you can desine logical destinations and even if the location of the WSDL changes, all you have to do is change the new url in the Visual Admin and not import the model again.
You can visit the following link for more details:

I know the flow -- like both webservices will be impoted as External Definations and will me mapped.
    I was asking about Webserver.
    a. XI --- System B (WebService)
    System B is providing wsdl.
WebServer is required at System B -- fine.
    b. System A (WebService) -- XI
System A is providing WebService(wsdl) to XI
XI is NOT providing WebService to System A.
So It is a webservice(wsdl) of System A. It will be given to XI and XI will import it as wsdl.

Pls tell System A (WebService) -- XI

  • Doesn't the HTC M8 have a camera shortcut with pinlock on... was a feature with my previous HTC and Lumia's

With my previous Lumia and HTC Windows phones the camera could be turned on via a shortcut (3rd button) when the screen was pinlocked. I thought the ability to do this was a Windows phone requirement, but I've only seen mention of it with Anderoid using the volume control. It doesn't work for Windows 8.1. Am I missing anything?

        DT2014,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us today. I would like to check a few settings in the phone. Would you be able to go into your Settings, Tap on Lock Screen, There should be an option for "Choose apps to show quick status". Would you be able to make one of these a camera? Keep us posted.

  • XI to webservice(async) and Webservice to XI (Async)

    Here is my requirement.
I want to send some details from XI async and i do not want any reponse from webservice.
I need to have some basic information about webservice like how it stores the data, how it receives the data from XI(don mention by SOAP adater),how it sends data to XI incase of async..etc..
Please make me clear about the basics of webservice.

The SOAP adapter FAQ on service market place explain Asynch SOAP calls the best, and I quote,
    2. Sender Asynchronous Calls
        * Q: What are the correct sender options for asynchronous calls?
A: The setting in the channel configuration determines how the message is passed to the XI infrastructure. Setting the channel's quality of service to ExactlyOnce guarantees the delivery of the message exactly once between the adapter and the back end. This will not automatically guarantee the delivery with exactly once between the client and the back end. The behavior of the client determines the level of quality of service achieved.
When the client sends a SOAP message and ignores the response completely as in "fire-and-forget", the quality of service with AtMostOnce may be realized.
When the client sends a SOAP message and checks if the response is an HTTP 200 response message, the quality of service with AtLeastOnce can be realized. In this case, the client must resend the message until such a successful response is returned. When the message successfully accepted by the adapter, an HTTP 200 response with an empty SOAP envelope is returned.
When the client resends the message, there is a possibility that the message may arrive more than once. However, this possible duplicate only happens, when the client previously received no response message at all or an HTTP 500 with duplicate message ID error. For all other cases, the client can resend the message without resulting any duplicate. In order to eliminate duplicates for all cases, the client may send the message with a unique message ID. This message ID will be used to create an XI message so that the identity of the created XI message and that of the original SOAP message are coupled. The client must resend the message with the same message ID until an HTTP 200 reponse is returned or an HTTP 500 response with SOAP fault DuplicateMessageException. In either case, the client can assume that the message is delivered exactly once (theoretically the message ID could be identical to another message ID used previously but the probability of this is extremely low).
    Receiver Asynchronous Calls
        * Q: What are the correct receiver options for asynchronous calls?
A: The processing mode of the receiver is determined by the message that reaches the receiver. If you are sending a message with some quality of service, to provide this service of quality to the server, your must make sure two things. First, your receiver channel must be configured to pass the XI message ID to the server. Second, your web service must check duplicates using this message ID.

  • Local URL in WebService address and WSDL file

    Hi everyone,
I developed, built and deployed my webservice on a machine. To reach the webservice from the web it has a specific IP (binded to point to a local IP) , but when i access to it the URL inside the webservice address, the reference to the wsdl file and the SOAP:ADDRESS property inside WSDL refer to my local network IP instead of "external" url ..... how is it possible? how can i change things to make Web Service always refere to the external url from which has been invoked?

just a little precisation : i deployed the webservice on tomcat, simply putting dist war file ... not using the ant deploy task.

    Bruce,
We are trying to setup X509 Client Cert to involve CAC(Smart Card) processing as a part of the initial part of our Jdev 10 or 11g app utilizing jsf/toplink. We are running OAS 10.1.2.0.2 presently but we can move to OAS 10.1.3 or OAS 10.1.4 without any problem.
I am hearing a lot of references to Jdev and creating the WebService.
Do you know if I am better off using what comes with OAS for the authentication or using Jdeveloper? If there is any good document you can refer me to we'll greatly appreciate it.

  • Webservice storing and JSP reading

    Hi Folks,
I have a EJB turned into a webservice and deployed in Weblogic 8.1. Now when this webservice is invoked, I want to show the received message in a browser. What I want to do is write a java class with 'setmessage' and 'getmessage' methods. Then I would use setmessage method to set the received message. My JSP then would ping the variable every 10 sec or so and show it in the browser. Is this feasible?
I tried creating an EAR with EJBJAR and WAR and a COMMON.jar which had the java class. It worked.
But with EJB turning into a webserivce...(using servicegen), it automatically creates a EAR, with the web-services.war coming in.
I tried to include the common.jar and my war in the generated EAR, but then the JSP/servlet in the war AND the ejb-jar doesnt seem to know anything abt the java class in the common.jar
Any clues, other ways to do this?

    This code
    Map<Integer, Object> readMap = Collections.synchronizedMap(new TreeMap<Integer, Object>());
    //read from input stream
    readMap = input.readObject();Should be
    Map<Integer, Object> readMap = (Map<Integer, Object>)input.readObject();

  • WebService generation and polymorphic behavior

    I have a simple problem.
Class A has an attribute of type Class B
Class B has 2 subclasses, Class C and Class D.
(it holds only a reference to Class B, but at runtime will be assigned
instances of Class C and Class D).
Lets say Stateless EJB has a method called getMyClassA() : Class A
The servicegen tool will not generate mappings or serializers/deserializers
for Class C and Class D because they are not referenced directly
(statically) from within serialized chain of classes. If I make a fake
(unused) attribute in Class A of type Class C and Class D, everything is
    created and all works fine.
I tried to use the <autotype> and <source2wsdd> but I need to run then it
twice. Once with the EJB interface, and once with the supporting classes
(class C & D). Unfortunately I then have to manually merge the 2 deployment
descriptors because the <source2wsdd> task doesn't support the
"mergeWithExistingWs" attribute as specified in the documentation.
    Has anybody encountered this problem?

Thanks for trying out my suggestion.
It looks like the problem is because you are
using 8.1beta. WLS 8.1 GA is available for
    download. Please try it out.
I wrote an example similar to your usecase
and it seems to work fine in WLS 8.1.

    Yes, i'm using the WLS8.1beta.
Originally, I was using the "copied.xml" file. That does not "merge".
    It
works as stated in the autotype documentation, it excludes the types
specified in the "typeMapping" file so the new types.xml file onlycontains
types that are not in the "copied.xml" file.
The source2wsdd task is needed to merge two deployment descriptors intoone,
but unfortunately the documented parameter "mergeExistingWS" doesn't
    work
    in
    8.1 (documented bug).
Is there any workaround for this other than manually merging thedeployment
    descriptors.

    You are using WLS 8.1?
Also can you please try the secound autotype with

I tried running autotype for both class C & D, and for the EJB. It
    simply
    overwrites the first types.xml.
To confirm the problem I copied the result of autotype C & D to aseparate
file and saw that its contents were not merged.
    Here are my tasks:

In 8.1 you can run autotype on class C and D to generate
the types.xml file. Then run autotype on the ejb interface
by passing in the types.xml file generated before. The
secound autotype should merge the type.xml files. I have
not tried this out, but a similar example is here.
