WebUtil file transfer in multiple user implementation

Hi
Installed WebUtil and able to integrate forms/reports in Web enviroenment 10gAs.
Around 30 to 40 people will use this application, Now to do client side integration (To Save generated output to Cleint m/c) we are geerating file on AppServer and transferring using Webutil file transfer but my question if multiple users running same report from form and generates two different date ranges to generate to same file on Appserver, How Can I use WebUtil file tranfer for two people running same report. Is that going to be problem in concurrent user environment.
Setup 10gAs, User A select report A and run with two different data ranges and file saved on Appserver as test.pdf and now user b want to run same report with time range little bit different time range and file has to be saved to same test.pdf on ApopServer, Now how oracle going to handle this ???????.
Pl answer this is very important as we are running this reports in Web implementation with more than 30 users.
Many thanks in advance.
Murthy

Surely the real issue is that you are always generating to the same filename? Incorporate an identifier into the filename. e.g. the username

  • WebUtil File Transfer - file size limit

    Does anybody know what the file size limit is if I want to transfer it from the client to the application server using WebUtil? The fileupload bean had a limit of 4 Mb.
    Anton Weindl

    Webutil is only supported for 10g. THe following is added to the release notes:
    When using Oracle Forms Webutil File transfer function, you must take into consideration performance and resources issues. The current implementation is that the size of the Forms application server process will increase in correlation with the size of the file that is being transferred. This, of course, has minimum impact with file sizes of tens or hundreds of kilobytes. However, transfers of tens or hundreds of megabytes will impact the server side process. This is currently tracked in bug 3151489.
    Note that current testing up to 150MB has shown no specific limits for transfers between the database and the client using WebUtil. Testing file transfers from the client to the application server has shown no specific limit up to 400Mb; however, a limit of 23Mb has been identified for application server to client file transfers.

  • File sharing with multiple users on one Mac

    I have two Macs, both of which ca seen each other across the network. My question regards file sharing with multiple users on the same computer. When file sharing, are the files from all users available across the network, or just those of the user presently logged in? The issue is that I am trying to access files from a user who isn't currently logged in, but another user on that computer is. I need to get into that person's documents, but I don't see a way to navigate to their documents folder.

    Right, I got that. But the computer is in constant use by User A, while I need access to User B's files. I could need access at anytime, and it would be a pain to make User A log off and log in as User B everytime. I was just wondering if there is anyway to access User B's files in this situation, without logging User B in.

  • File sharing across multiple user accounts on the same machine

    Hello,
    I try to figure out how multiple users (my wife and I) on the same mac can have equal access to files on the local drive without granting that access to all users on that machine or even the rest of the world.
    My research sofar hasn't come up with a satisfying solution. Here are the solutions that I am looking at:
    1. Enable a permission system that ensures access to both users in all cases (file/directory creation, copy and move).
    I only found a suitable solution for creating and copying files/directories but not for moving them.
    See the following articles for reference:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20787617#20787617 Setting up a shared structure that works e.g. for iPhoto Library but not for moving files to and from
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/4005647#4005647 Helpful information on POSIX Permissions, ACL's an Permission inheritance
    This would be my first choice if I can get around the problem of moving files...
    2. Disk Image
    Create a disk image which ignores persmissions and set permissions for the file that contains the image instead.
    Read this article to get further details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
    This solution will work but has a few disadvatages:
    There's no mutual access from multiple user accounts since an image may only be mounted by one user at a time.
    One has to create a startup script that mounts the image upon login which would create a first come first serve for access to the image content.
    3. Using a file sharing protocol (e.g. afp or smb) locally.
    The idea behind it is to have a server providing the files mutually to multiple users one the same machine. At them moment this seems to be the most promising approach to me.
    Unfortunately I can get acces from another machine but not from the same machine. Has anyone ever tried to access the file sharing (afp or smb) from the same machine on which the server is located?
    Has anyone got some helpful hints for me?
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry, but you didn't specify details, and it was worth checking whether or not you had overlooked this approach.
    The problem you're having (as I suppose you already know) is that any new disk item inherits the permissions of the folder it is originally created in in.  These permissions (sensibly enough) need owner or administrator permission to change once they've been established; that will happen when you copy a file to a new location (because that's essentially creating a new file) but not when you move it. any of the following would work:
    changing the permissions on newly created files for both users so that they all explicitly give r/w access to a particular group.
    writing a droplet that would change the permissions of files dropped on it and move them programmatically to the shared folder
    set up a folder action or launchd job that would watch the shared folder and automatically convert permissions on files placed in it.
    The last would be the approach I would take, but...  which appeals to you?

  • Oracle.forms.webutil.file Transfer.File Transfer bean not found

    I've followed tons of instructions for 2 days to install and configure webutil and I finally have success with the demo. However, when I add this to my own form and use the CLIENT_IMAGE.READ_FILE_IMAGE
    I end up with error oracle.forms.webutil.file Transfer.File Transfer bean not found WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.getMaxTransfer will not work.
    What am I missing? Thanks for any help.

    Make sure your form subclasses object group webutil.olb, and that webutil.pll is also attached. Make sure that your forms folder contains webutil.plx (a compiled version of webutil.pll). Unless the default config (in formsweb.cfg) includes the entries required for webutil support, you must specify a config that does have these entries. 10g, which comes configured for webutil, provides a config called webutil for this. An example URL might look like:
    http://myappserver/forms/frmservlet?form=myform.fmx&config=webutil
    There could be other problems, but since you're able to run the demo forms, I'm guessing that what I've mentioned are the first things for you to check.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can InDesign indicate who has a file open among multiple users?

    No. All you'll know is that it's open.

  • The Windows SMB feature has file locking if multiple users are accessing the same file.  Does Snow Leopard Server File Sharing (AFP) provide similar features?

    The Windows SMB feature has file locking if multiple users are accessing the same file.  Does File Sharing (AFP) on Snow Leopard Server provide similar services?

    Were you ever able to solve this problem. I'm having similar issues since upgrading to snow leopard. Four macs connect to a Windows Server 2003 for shared files. Each user has full permissions & when we "get info" it shows read & write permissions. Two of the computers were running 10.4, two were running 10.5. Everything worked properly until upgrading to snow leopard. Some files let me copy, move, delete. Others either just hang up or we get a "no permission" error. Also getting a "pdf is in use" error, even when the file/folder doesn't contain a pdf. We had our IT rep check the server who said everything is in working order. They don't represent macs any longer but feel that it's a mac problem. I would have to agree since this problem only started after the upgrade, and the one machine that was not upgraded (still running 10.5.8) is not dealing with these problems.
    Lastly, I would install 10.5 back on all of the computers if I could, but the leopard disk that came with one of the computers wouldn't work with the 2 machines running 10.4 and I didn't see it available at the apple store. I'll buy it if it's still available, but why wouldn't the disks that I have work?
    Thanks for any help

  • File transfer using tcp that  implements in swing

    Can anybody send me the file transfer using tcp that implements in swing codes

    I'm assuming that you're inputing a plain ASCII text SQL file. It's easier to use Readers if you're dealing with plain text, the Output and Input Streams are for Byte input and output. So:
    BufferedReader myReader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("myFile.sql"));
    BufferedWriter myWriter = new BufferedWriter(new InputStreamWriter(mySocket.getInputStream()));
    String inString;
    while((inString = myReader.readLine()) != null)
    myServerWriter.write(inString);
    myServerWriter.writeLine();
    myServerWriter.flush();
    Then, in the server you can use the same method that I'm using for the Buffered Reader to read in the file, and use a BufferedWriter wraped around a FileWriter to output the text to that file. Bravo.

  • How do I make the webutil file transfer works correctly?

    Hello,
    I'm using Oracle 10g Database and form builder in developer suite 10g release 2. Running on Windows XP SP2.
    I've created a database user, executed the create_webutil_db.sql , and created a table as below:
    CREATE TABLE DOCS
    (DOC_ID VARCHAR2(15) NOT NULL,
    DOC_IMAGE BLOB,
    TEXT_DESCRIPTION CLOB,
    FILENAME VARCHAR2(80),
    FILE_SIZE NUMBER NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT PK_DOCS PRIMARY KEY (DOC_ID)
    I've created two buttons in the from, one for upload and one for download
    the upload code:
    DECLARE
         fname VARCHAR2(1000);
         fext VARCHAR2(1000);
         result BOOLEAN;
    BEGIN
         fname := Client_Get_File_Name(null,null,null,null,OPEN_FILE,TRUE);
         fext := fname;
         WHILE instr(fext,'.') <> 0 LOOP
              fext := substr(fext,instr(fext,'.')+1);
         END LOOP;
         IF LOWER(fext) <> 'doc' THEN
              message('Only Microsoft Word Document (*.doc) can be uploaded');
         ELSE
              result := Webutil_File_Transfer.Client_To_DB
              (trim(fname),'DOCS','DOC_IMAGE','DOC_ID = ' || '''' || :DOC_ID || '''');
              IF result THEN
                   message ('Upload success');
                   :FILENAME := fname;
                   :FILE_SIZE := WebUtil_file.file_size(:FILENAME);
                   WHILE instr(:FILENAME,'\') <> 0 LOOP
                        :FILENAME := substr(:FILENAME,instr(:FILENAME,'\')+1);
                   END LOOP;
              ELSE
                   message ('Upload failed');
              END IF;
         END IF;
    END;
    and the download code:
    DECLARE
         result BOOLEAN ;
    BEGIN
         IF :FILE_SIZE > 0 THEN
              result := Webutil_File_Transfer.DB_To_Client
         (trim(Client_Get_File_Name(null,:FILENAME,null,null,SAVE_FILE,TRUE)),'DOCS','DOC_IMAGE','DOC_ID = ' || '''' || :DOC_ID || '''');
              IF result THEN
                   message ('Download success');
              ELSE
                   message ('Download failed');
              END IF;
         ELSE
              message('No file to download');
         END IF;
    END;
    I can upload the file to the database, and download the file.
    However, the file being downloaded is corrupted. I don't know why this will happen. I've tried to rebuild the form, re-attach the webutil library, rebuild the database users and tables, but all these doesn't work.
    Please help, thank you.

  • Illustrator CS6 - File Links Lost & Multiple Users Can Open File Simultaneously

    Hi,
    We've been using Illustrator for years, working off of a local file server for storing all Illustrator and support files.
    But  we've been noticing with Illustrator CS6 some frustrating behavior:
    A) When a user creates a file and attaches a number of images, if a separate user then opens that file all links show up as missing. If nothing is changed or saved, then the original user will still see the links OK. But if another user fixes all the broken links and saves, then the original user shows missing links.
    B) When a user has an Illustrator file open, another user is able to open the file as well (no warnings). This is dangerous and never happened with previous versions of Illustrator.
    We did test to see if either of these issues occurs with InDesign CS6 and they do not. Linked files are kept between users, and only 1 user can have a file open at a time.
    - What changed with Illustrator CS6???
    Thanks. This is maddening for us and wastes a lot of time.

    Hi,
    I think we can use the locks shared or exclusive locks concept here
    you can find examples in this section on how to implement them -
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/41/7af4c5a79e11d1950f0000e82de14a/frameset.htm
    There are two types of lock in the R/3 System:
    Shared lock
    Shared locks (or read locks) allow you to prevent data from being changed while you are reading it. They prevent other programs from setting an exclusive lock (write lock) to change the object. It does not, however, prevent other programs from setting further read locks.
    Exclusive lock
    Exclusive locks (or write locks) allow you to prevent data from being changed while you are changing it yourself. An exclusive lock, as its name suggests, locks an application object for exclusive use by the program that sets it. No other program can then set either a shared lock or an exclusive lock for the same application object.

  • File accessability for multiple users

    I am designing a we application in which each and every updation done by the users will be written in a text file. I have a question that since this is a web based application there will be multiple users accessing the application. And when many users are trying to update a record then they will be accessing the same file.i.e., writing into the same file at the same time and that will be a problem... Please suggest me a solution for this issue.... Some people suggested to use synchronized methods for writing and some suggested like writing into a temporary file and then once the user has finished updating we have to write from the temporary file to the main text file. So the main file is not directly updated by the users..
    Please suggest me if you have any new ideas...Thanks in advance..

    Hi Thanks for your explanation...Since I am new to this field i have a doubt. Could you please explain it.
    Question:
    Will Session affect this logic?
    Consider a user A is performing the update action at location 1 and a user B is performing another update action at location 2. My doubt here is will both the updated records will be present in the same Vector even if the users closes the session? Because what if the user closes the application before the "WorkerThread" runs method "performNextUpdate()". And also will the thread start running from the moment the user logs into the application for every 25ms.
    Sorry if it is a silly question or if you dont understand it properly.

  • Form settings transfer to multiple users

    Hello,
    I know that this question has been asked before in the forum. But I could not find any definite answer to it.
    Can the form and other UDF settings be transferred to multiple users automatically? Or do I need to manually make those settings for each user login. If it can be done, then how to do it?
    Thanks!
    Ash

    Gents,
    I have still this SAP note and my computer and I have rewritten the query to be a bit more controlled. However, I do not guarantee that this query will work and remember that SAP does not support direct SQL on a database so be extremely careful about this.
    <b>Definition of the query</b>
    DELETE  FROM [CPRF_EVO]
    INSERT INTO [CPRF_EVO]([FormID], [ItemID], [ColID], [Width], [VisInForm], [VisualIndx], [EditInForm], [VisInExpnd], [ExpandIndx], [EditInEXP], [Folded], [UserSign], [ExtDisable], [ExtInvsbl])
    SELECT * FROM [CPRF] WHERE UserSign=1
    DELETE FROM CPRF WHERE UserSign=2
    UPDATE CPRF_EVO SET UserSign=2 WHERE UserSign=1
    INSERT INTO [CPRF]([FormID], [ItemID], [ColID], [Width], [VisInForm], [VisualIndx], [EditInForm], [VisInExpnd], [ExpandIndx], [EditInEXP], [Folded], [UserSign], [ExtDisable], [ExtInvsbl])
    SELECT * FROM [CPRF_EVO] WHERE UserSign=2
    <b>Remarks</b>
    This query will read the column settings for user 1 (usually the user manager) and will copy them to user 2. When you perform this, ensure user 2 is not connected to SAP.
    If you need to copy the configuration of user 1 to all users, you can add a loop in the query or replace 2 by 3 and then 3 by 4 etc.

  • The application suspends in webutil file transfer

    Dear all,
    I have an application that reads pdf files from the harddisk and uploads them to the database using
    WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.CLIENT_TO_DB_WITH_PROGRESS( doc_path_v, table_name_v, 'DOC', 'DOC_ID = ' || doc_id_v,
                   'Saving the file to the database..', 'Please wait..');
    but, when there are a lot of files the application suspends as if the session has expired and I need to log in agnain..
    Is there any help with this problem?
    thanks.

    Hi,
    sometime it happens with webutil in 10g. I also faced the same problem. If i transfer a big file. Then system
    shows the progress bar when progress bar reaches upto 30% then system stops transferring the file. Then
    i need to relogin again and when i try to transfer again. It shows one error "Already transfer in progress".
    Then i need to kill the session from AS Console.

  • File transfer to multiple clients from server socket

    I have multiple clients connected to my server socket and I need to copy more than 200mb documents from server to all clients over socket. Can we design the issue considering scalability and performance factor? What I am thinking of we should use thread for transferring file from server to client. But at the same time if we have large number of clients then we can't initialize a thread for each client. I think in this case we should initialize less than 10 threads in the pool as the file size is very large. If we keep number of threads in the pool low then probably we have to read multiple times the large server file (once for each group) which might again be a performance bottleneck. Please pour in your suggestions.

    File would be same for an instance only. For example say I have a "SEND File" button & File Path text box. In File Path suppose user enters the absolute path of the file and then clicks on Send File button. The responsibility of Send File button would be sending the file mentioned in the "File Path" text box to all connected client. But next time user can choose a different file.
