WebUtil with ActiveX

Can webUtil used to deploy form with activeX control (Image capture ActiveX control). hope to find a demo form

What do you do with the active/X is it embedded in your Forms UI or are you just calling to it using OLE2 package to activate the image capturing?
The second option will work with WebUtil.

  • How to list all currently open Excel files with ActiveX?

    Hello all!
I would like to program with ActiveX a way to retrieve a list (array of strings) of the filenames of the currently opened Excel files in windows. However, I am fairly new to the ActiveX/Excel business in LV and after hours looking at the "millions" of objects in the property nodes I give up and hope some kind soul here can help me. I couldn't find any information in this forum regarding the same issue, although some were close
I am using LV 7.1 without the Report Generation Toolkit.
    Thanks!

    Hi KC,
thanks for your reply. I have in fact been able to find the desired things in the ActiveX properties/methods for Excel in LabView. It took me some looong work going through the functions which I suspected to be the ones. Anyway, I post a little jpeg here of the code if someone ever needs the same functionality. What it does is that it checks how many Excel workbooks are open and controls if each of them matches the searched Excel filename, if one does, it is closed.
    Enjoy

  • WebUtil and ActiveX

What is the correlation between WebUtil and ActiveX?
The reason I ask is that we have successfully installed WebUtil on our 9iAS R2 apps server and the Webutil forms that were created all work perfectly on site.
However our WAN covers sites all over the UK and the majoiry of these sites have all ActiveX settings disabled for security reasons. When accessing from one of these sites the form correctly loads all the .dll and .jar files but the CLIENT_TEXT_IO procedure will not operate.

... one thing I forgot. Duncan Mills, who could answer this question a lot better than I can, is on vacation this week.

  • Problems with ActiveX Callbacks in LabVIEW 7

Have encountered an interesting problem with ActiveX "Reg Event Callback" in LV7 (WinXP):
In a nutshell, when a lot of events fire in rapid succession, the user-interface locks up.
The events still fire, and the front panel controls update, but the front panel will not respond to clicks. Interestingly, if the block diagram is open, you can stop it and turn on execution highlighting, etc...
    - I've discovered that the problem we're encountering is related to multiple events firing before the (reentrant) callback VI has finished executing from the 1st event.
    - by watching the Performance data in task manager, and tracking the # of handles used by LabVIEW, I find that when this happens, the # of handles increases, b
ut never decreases until you stop the VI
    - I would expect several (nearly) instantaneous events to launch multiple copies of that callback VI, and I can believe that would increase the # handles, but I would expect that LabVIEW would catchup shortly thereafter and the # handles would return to its starting count.
As an aside, using the old ActiveX event and callback method with the exact same version of the activeX control does not have this problem, events just queue up and then fire appropriately.
    Anyone seen anything like this?
Anyone (NI guys) have any ideas?
Follow up question (NI guys): when will the support for the old ActiveX event stuff dry up?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Ben,
The error message warns about the use of three ActiveX Event VIs that will no longer be supported in future versions of Labview. Following version 6 of Labview, the use of ActiveX Event VIs is shifting to the use of Register Event Callback VI instead. In looking at your screenshots, I did not see any use of the older ActiveX Event VIs. If possible, try attaching the actual VI to the post and I will take a look at that.
At least in terms of support, phone support currently exists for Labview 6 and 7. With the release of Labview 8, support for Labview 6 will slowly be phased out. In this case, phone support for the ActiveX Event VIs will no longer continue as they are no longer included in the versions of Labview for
which phone support is provided. However, Discussion Forums and web-based resources would be your best venue of support for those features.
I would strongly recommend that you migrate to replacing ActiveX Event VIs to using the Register Event Callback VI. The following is a KnowledgeBase article describing the transition of ActiveX in Labview:
Migrating from the ActiveX Event VIs to Using the Register Event Callback Node
Also, are you using the Automation Open/Close VIs? These two VIs will allow acquire/release informatio nof the ActiveX object. I have attached a couple example programs that are included in Labview to help demonstrate this concept.
    Hope this helps!

  • Webutil  with application server 10.1.2.0.2

    hello for all
how i deploy webutil with application server 10.1.2.0.2

I think the question was about requirements to create and run WebCenter centric applications and portlets in general. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the context of the question about reuse of an existing AS 10gR2 platform? This would only make sense if the existing platform could be used for any parts of the Webcenter application - JSF runtime and portlets. Webcenter has to be setup on a 10gR3 container so you have at least one 10gR3 instance involved - at least for the Webcenter app. So why should you have an interest to mix up your application architecture with a 10gR2 based portlet deployment
Also, if you want to use a 10gR2 container for your portlets you can only build portlets based on a 10gR2 PDK/portlet container. A 10gR3 PDK requires a 10.1.3.1 minimum release of the OC4J. Hence a 10gR2 for portlets doesn't make any sense for a Webcenter application.

  • Can we use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i

Can any one tell me if we can use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i..I have 11.5.9 instance of oracle apps and i want to use some features of WebUtil to customize one of seeded Oracle Form.
Any pointers in this regard are quiet welcome.
    Thanks,

Strictly speaking no...however you could "backport" the webutil code and in theory you could get some of the functionality to work - this is not supported in the context of oracleForms although Oracle Applications may have their own specific solution/certification of this.

  • Help with ACTIVEX Crystal Reports

I have been using Crystal in my app since 2001; We had stabilized over the years with RAS 9.0 and the ActiveX viewer.
Now I am migrating to Business Objects XI R2. and I cant use the ActiveX viewer (because i am using RAS to change the report source...)
So i am stuck with the rest of the world with the .NET free viewer.
    OK- it stinks but OK.
everything is cool until time to print.
My users are HATING the PDF printing that is standard .
So we turned on ACTIVEX printing.
My users are having a devil of a time downloading the proper controls.
Now- if i put the site in my trusted sites- all is good- but this is crazy.
The ActiveX control can load to the clients machine.
It affects all OS/ all levels of access (Admins too)
    It is a browser issue ;
I have about 20% of my (20,000 daily) users who are being affected by this .. So we quickly go back to PDF (for now)
Anyone else having trouble with ActiveX Crystal XI download for PRINTING only?
I know that we used to distribute npviewer.exe under my old RAS 9 days to Admins who had network consideration. I'd hate to have to contact 20,000 people and say "hey ; remember all that trouble we had getting Crystal Reports to run on your machine....well....we kinda upgraded....and...well....we are gonna have to do it again.....sorry"
    HELP!!
    I am looking for:
    1) best practices
    2) what is min requirements for the activex printing.
    3) a possible download (like npviewer.exe)

  • Using Notification service with ActiveX

    Hi all,
Can you use the Notification service with ActiveX clients??
Any small exaples would be great.
    John Graville

    Hi John,
You should be able to do this as callbacks are supported by the ActiveX
    support.
Look at the Visual Basic chatroom client for an example of how to use
    callbacks in ActiveX.

  • Snmp with ActiveX

I bought IP*Works! S/SNMP V6 ActiveX,but I cannot get the message of snmp ,who have the example of snmp with Activex? could you send it to me?thank you very much

I got the full answer from NI support, here it:
Exceptions thrown from external code modules will be stored in Step.Result.Error .  You can select in TestStand how you want it to handle the error by going to Configure>>Station Options>>Execution, and then setting the drop down for 'On Run-time Error' to the behavior you want.
You can program your own error handling by using the SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError callback.  There is an example on how to use this callback in the example below.
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\Examples\Callbacks\PostStepRuntimeErrorCallback
This sequence will allow the user to choose how to handle the error.  You can customize this sequence, or create your own, to handle exceptions how you desire.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank you & Best Regards

  • Problems with activeX and native

    Hello SDN Community,
    i use NW04S SP11, NWDS 7.0.11 and Adobe LifecycleDesigner 7.1.
I want to generate an Interactive Form with WebDynpro for Java only for Printing and Saving. Also I don't want to display the document in the browser so I set the displayType to activeX, because this isn't possible with native (ZCI). I have also installed the Active Component Framework. But when I deploy the application with activeX and start the application the Form is not displayed and the AcroRd32.exe runs with 98% in the TaskManager. When I deploy the Application with displayType native, the document is displayed but I can't save and open the document (Adobe Reader 8.0.0).
I hope that anybody can help me. It's very urgent.
    Thanks
    Stefan

    Hello Tweety,
I've installed the software for the IRtrans module. Unfortunately, I can't start a server, because for this I have to connect this module.
If You can select the methods of the IRtrans objects in LabVIEW, the activex connection should be OK. Make sure, that You use the right parameters and the right data types.
Here is a link to the software, I've installed. Do You have the same Version?

  • Has somebody got an example for writing datas with ActiveX to MsAccess?

    Hello,
I'm working with LabView 6i and MsAccess 2000.
At first, I attempted it with SQL-Toolkit, but my SQL-Software is just for Windows '95.
I have no experience with ActiveX. I measure with LabView a SineWave and want to write it to MsAccess.
    Has somebody an example?
    Thanks

Attached is a VI that shows basically how to connect to Access using ADO (ActiveX Data Objects). To use this you absolutely only need one piece of information: the connection string. The easiest thing to do is create a DNS to define the connection, then the connection string is only something like:
    DSN=myDBlink;
Where "myDBlink" is the name you gave the DSN when you created it. You might also need a user id and password depending on how (or if) the security is set on the database.

  • Need help with ActiveX

I am having trouble with an application that I built in Labview 8.5 on Windows XP machine using ActiveX to communicate with Microsoft Outlook 2007. The application uses ActiveX to open a reference to the Outlook application. With the reference to the Outlook application my code gets all kinds of information from the calendar in Outlook. My application works fine on my computer as LabVIEW VIs and also as a built executable. The executable works fine on another colleagues computer too when running as a built executable. But on another computer, this application is just not working and not producing any error messages. It seems to run fine but it seems there is no communication with Outlook 2007 at all. There is no errors, but no data is pulled in from Outlook. LabVIEW is installed on the 2 computers where the application is working fine, only the run-time engine is installed on the 1 computer where the application isn't working. But it would be silly to have to install LabVIEW on any machine that I want to run this application, if that is even the problem, not sure if it is.
Any ideas on this.... When LabVIEW is installed, is there certain things that are installed with it that enable ActiveX communication? Is there some way to enable ActiveX communication within Outlook 2007? (I have looked around for this but cant find the option anywhere).
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank you very much for your reply Burt. It turns out that the issue wasn't with ActiveX communication at all. The one computer that the application wasn't working on had some events in the Outlook calendar that had some strange settings and caused some loops in the application to continuously run. I put an indicator that showed how many items the ActiveX communication was grabbing from Outlook, and when I ran it on this one computer, sure enough it was greater than 0. So I then knew the error was somewhere else. I was able to debug it by copying the events from their calendar into mine and then running the code in the development environment.

  • Help with quitting Excel with activex (save-dialog)

    Hello.
    I have following question.
I have a VI that writes data from measurement devices into an excel file. Afterwards I want to change the order of the entries with the help of activex.
All that works fine, but when I quit excel the save-dialolg always pops up. I searched this board for possible solutions and experimented quite a bit but I still get one dialog at the end.
Well, now at least it is only one and not multiple ones. The loop in my the implementation for the data manipulation might be the cause, but if it is it, i don't know why or how to solve it. But maybe it is something different. Anyway, I cannot find the reason.
Some help would be really appreciated .
Thank you very much in advance.

Now I have to two problems.
First, after running it in highlight modus, I now know the dialog pops up at the _Workbook.close invoke node. Despite setting true to SaveChanges.
Second, I now get an error code -2147352565 - unknown error at invalid index. and nothing gets saved.

  • Closing Excel with ActiveX causes problem

    Hallo,
I am having a problem using ActiveX and Excel. I
am using NT 4.0, Service Pack 3, Excel 97, Service
    Release SR1 and LabVIEW 5.1.
My LV application opens an Excel worksheet,
operates on the sheet and then closes it by using
ActiveX. Everything works fine until I try to
start Excel from the desktop after running my LV
application. Then I get an "Exception access
violation" generated by excel.exe. It seems like
my application does not manage to end the
excel.exe process which leads to the "violation
error" next time Excel is to be opened. To quit
Excel I call the "quit" method in
Excel_Application and then call the "Automation
    Close".
Anyone knows how to solve this?

Greg, this is the problem: Granted that Excel closes properly when users try to close all opened refnums, when this VI is used as subvi (loop) "Excel.exe" does not close (every instance opened). It stays in the Task Manager until the program that uses this subVI ends. This is not good because "Excel.exe" uses a large memory.Just think what will happen if I try to use this "Excel" subVI a couple of hundred times in an application VI. It leaves at least 6000kb of memory for every instance multiply it by a couple of hundreds, then your PC crashes.
Another, open only one instance, the "Excel.exe" process remain in the Task Manager.
What can you say? You haven't tried?
Try this: create a vi which will open the Excel Application (wire the "open new instance
" terminal to TRUE), open an existing Excel workbook, add sheet, write numbers 1 to 255 from A1 to A255 and B1 to B255 to the added and close the ranges where the numbers are written, close the added sheet, close the opened workbook and close the Excel application. Then use this vi in a loop that iterates 500 times so that 500 sheets (plus three as default to Excel) will be added to the opened workbook. Before running the VI with the loop, open your Task Manager>>Processes. Run the VI and monitor how many "Excel.exe" while the loop is running and the memory usage it consumes. And take note of the "Excel.exe" which will remain in the Task Manager after the vi with loops ends. Then e-mail me ([email protected] OR [email protected]) of things that went wrong and how to solve the problems that causes for things to go wrong.
Of course you can also send your VI.
    This my main problem.
