Weekday & Weekday Name Calculated Field giving error

Hi all,
I'm trying to learn how SSRS works, but I've reached an issue or error I just cannot find the solution for.
What I'm trying to do is create a calculated field that shows me the number of the day of the week and the name of the weekday. The problem: instead of calculating for example 14/06/2002 as the 5th day of the week Friday, it calculated it as the 6th day, Saturday.
Below is the example of my problem:
Can somebody please explain to me, how can I overcome this issue?

Hi Ellie55,
According to your description that the you want to get the number of the weekday and also the name of it, but when you are using the expression in the calculated fields, the result always show the value one more days ahead of the exact day, right?
I have tested in my local environment and can reproduce your problem, the problem related to the method WEEKDAY(date) you use in the expression which Week begins on Sunday (1) and ends on Saturday (7),This article will give details information:
WEEKDAY Function
WeekdayName Function
So you will get the day one more ahead. You can take below expression for reference to do a little modification to your expression:
Get the weekday number, we can make the “WEEKDAY(Date)-1 “ and make the Sunday to be the number of 7,then the number will be Monday(1)and ends on Sunday(7) :
=IIF(WEEKDAY(Fields!YourDate.Value)="1",7,WEEKDAY(Fields!YourDate.Value)-1)
Get the weekday name(This method base on the exact date, it is not based on the number of the week, so will not have the problem you have faced ):
=WeekdayName(weekday(Fields!YourDate.Value),true)
If you still have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Email Attachment SQL field giving error without attachment...

    Hi All,
    I'm running Apex 4.1.0.X on 10g and trying to solve the following problem with little success.
    After reviewing the OBE on Viewing and Downloading BLOBS within Apex 3.1 from here -http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm...
    I was able to create a simple form to send an email with an attachment as well as a simple report from which to view the stored email messages send and the attachments associated with them. All good, all working just fine. Problem comes about when I try to send a message without an attachment. When I do this, I get the following error:
    ~~~
    ORA-20022: Null value supplied for parameter p_attachment.
    ~~~
    I have two process...one to store the message content in the table (Process Row of EMAIL_NOTIFICATIONS with source type as Automatic Row Processing DML) and a second to send the email which is just the canned mailer in Apex. I have defined the Attachment SQL field as follows:
    select attachment, att_file_name, att_mime_type from email_notifications where subject = '&P88_SUBJECT.' and body = '&P88_BODY.' and sender = '&P88_SENDER.'...There is no primary key on the table as there is a high likelihood that duplicate messages will be sent....so I am attempting to use the combination of three fields together to make sure that the correct BLOB is attached to the outgoing email....with no where condition...the wrong BLOBS were being attached....tried using ROWID as a unique record but it kept coming back null and no BLOBS could be attached.
    Anyway....hope I haven't made the issue too unclear.
    Thanks for any help. Mike
    Quick Edit...Just want to reiterate...as strange as the above "Attachment SQL" used in the canned Email Process seems...in testing it does seem to do the job....only snag is when no attachment is added....in case the error is presented and no record was saved to the table or sent in email.....My hope would be some crafty way in which to NOT use attachment SQL when there is no attachment.
    Thanks!

    Yes...you can attach BLOBS to emails...there is a MIME_TYPE attribute which is automatically inserted with the BLOB...I have this successfully working emails with attachments stored as BLOBS....so long as: 1.) There "MUST" be an attachment 2.) I use the syntax you said should work... where subject = '&P88_SUBJECT.' The documentation talks of using pl/sql method which I'll now try instead of what I was using:

  • Field name is not know error when trying to add a filter

    Hello all!
    I need to add a filter dinamically to display a report. I'm using Crystal Reports 10 w/ RAS server.
    There is an sql statement in Database Fields > Command. It uses a join and a correlation name for table name: TT.START_TIME.
    I am getting a "Field name is not known" error:
    "This field name is not known. Details: errorKind Error in File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\{D375AB61-F7AE-4BCC-AF5E-6702C0EFDE10}.rpt: Error in formula . '{Command.TT.START_TIME} in DateTime (2007, 08, 01, 09, 00, 00) to DateTime (2007, 08, 24, 04, 45, 00)' This field name is not known. Details: errorKind"
    I tried to specify the field the following ways:
    Command.START_TIME
    TT.START_TIME
    START_TIME
    TIME_TRACKER.START_TIME (time_tracker being the table name)
    MAIN.TIME_TRACKER.START_TIME (main being the schema)
    All of the above is giving the same field name not known error.
    I am adding the filter the following way:
            String whereClause = "{Command.TT.START_TIME} in DateTime (2007, 08, 01, 09, 00, 00) to DateTime (2007, 08, 24, 04, 45, 00)";
            IFilter filter = rptClientDoc.getDataDefinition().getRecordFilter();
            filter.setFreeEditingText(whereClause);
            rptClientDoc.getDataDefController().getRecordFilterController().modify(filter);
    I also tried the following where clause:
    String whereClause = "{Command.TT.START_TIME} > DateTime (2006, 08, 01, 09, 00, 00) AND {Command.TT.START_TIME} < DateTime (2007, 08, 24, 04, 45, 00)";
    still doing the same thing.
    If anyone could please help me w/ this I'd really appreciate it!
    Thank you!
    Anastasia

    The first formula was created using the selection formula expert. I only added the TT part after it didn't work giving the same message. The name the expert gives it after I click on the field is {Command.START_TIME}. Still gives the invalid field name error. -_- Could the rest of the forumula be causing the problem?
    In regards to parameterizing the SQL Command, I spoke w/ the gentleman who creates these reports in Crystal, he says it's not possible, because sometimes we don't want a where clause and sometimes we do.
    Is there a way to directly edit the SQL string itself which is in the Command through java?
    Thank you very much for taking time to respond.

  • Calculation Field to be mapped to different data object's column name in Oracle BAM 12c

    Hi,
    I am having a challenge to enable drill down to 2nd level report by passing calculation field as parameter.
    As an alternative, I am thinking to point calculation field to another data object’s column name and generate report so that I would be able to pass that as parameter to drilling report view.
    Is there any way to map calculation field to different Data object’s column name? Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Amik Basu

    1. Yes, you can.
    SQL> create table ÜÝÞ( ßàá number(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into ÜÝÞ values (10);
    1 row created.1.1 and 1.2 and 2. You can choose UTF as your default character set. It allows the user of non-English characters in VARCHAR columns in your whole database. It is not per tablespace.
    SQL> create table ÜÝÞ( ßàá varchar2(100));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into ÜÝÞ values ('âãäçìé');
    1 row created.

  • Answers - would like to use calculated field's name, not expression

    Hi Everyone,
    I'am trying to make several calculated fields in a single query in Answers. Each field references the previous one, and the expression of the first one is already 5 rows long.
    Now I reference it in the second calculated field by using "Edit Formula" -> "Column" -> 'Colum name'.
    My problem is, that it puts the expression of the previous field, not it's name. I have to use it for almost 10 times in this single expression, so -although it works fine- it is totally unreadable, and very hard to debug for example.
    And after all, I should use this field again, in several next calculated fields.
    Does anyobody have an idea, how to make calculated fields having only the name of referenced other fields in it?
    The repo is set for ad hoc reporting also, so using session variables which need to be set in Administrator Tool, is not an option.
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi Venkat,
    thanks for the response. It would work, no doubt, in this special case, the problem is, that users use the repo for ad-hoc reporting aswell (and they don't have access to repo administration of course), so one can count on it, that there would be a new request of this kind every day to change the repo with customized user variables. I would like to avoid this of course.
    Having the name of a referenced field in a new expression would be a simple solution. Is it possible, that it can't be done?

  • Field name is not known Error in formula field...

    Hi,
    I have a report in CR11.5 r2 that I call from VB6.
    The report works fine, until a I create this formula, Trim ({RSE.PatName}).
    When I put this formula field in a section in the report, I have this error, "Field name is not known Error".
    Any idea?

    Make sure you have SP 6:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100015859952009E/crxir2win_sp6.exe
    Does the formula work in the designer?
    Are you changing datasource at runtime? If so, can you change to that datasource in the designer and run the report there?
    If you do not use the Trim function, does it work?
    If you do not use the field in a formula abd place it in say, the detail section as a test, does the report work?
    But remember that what ever the report is doing at runtime, must work in the designer 1st.

  • Making field input editable after giving error msg from table event 01

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement of giving error msg and making that row or the particular field input editable by writing code in table event 01 i.e before saving any record in a z-table i have to chk some condition for a column value and if that condition fails then i have to give error msg and make that column input editable.
    I have created a routine for event 01 and written the code to give error msg. But my problem is that column is not becoming input editable. Could you pls tell me how can i make that field editable?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Piyali,
    Use SET PARAMETER & GET PARAMETER ID  .
    You will get it.

  • Identify What are the days present in weekdays value of recurrenceinfo field

    Hi,
          I want the particular days based on weekdays values in recurrenceinfo field for appointment.The values of days as sunday 1,monday 2,tuesday 4,wednesday 8,thursday 16,friday 32 and saturday 64.Now the weekdays = 65 which means in this
    saturday 64 and sunday 1 is contained.So i want the query for identifying days in weekdays values.

    Just do a boolean and operator with 65 (64 | 1 ie both saturday and sunday) to check the presence
    For example say recurrenceinfo field is set for Mon,Wed and Fri
    then value would be 2 | 8 | 32 = 42
    Now & with 65 and you will get 0 as there are no overlaps
    SELECT 2 | 8 | 32
    SELECT 42 & 65
    So your filter should be like this
    WHERE recurrenceinfo & 65 = 0
    for no overlap

  • How to get error's field name when execute sql error

    I want to get the error's field name when execute sql error,but SQLException is not provide corresponding function to get it.
    How can I do for it?

    user523110,
    I believe the "unique constraint" error message displays the name of the constraint, not the column name, as you have posted.
    As far as I know, the only way to extract the column(s) would be to query the data dictionary using the constraint name provided in the error message.
    Also, as far as I know, there is nothing in the JDBC API that can return the names of the columns associated with a given unique constraint.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Calculated fields in ssrs

    Hi friends,
    hope everyone had a good weekend.
    I have one requirement to call the value from different datasets within the same report.But the value should be returned based on multiple column join values.
    Ex: Main dataset query
      SELECT *  FROM   table a
     WHERE  a.ChargeDate>=@TransactionDateFrom AND a.ChargeDate<=@TransactionDateTo AND a.DebtorID= @DebtorID
    dataset 2:
    SELECT * FROM  table b
     WHERE  b.ChargeDate>=@GLStartYearDate AND b.ChargeDate<=@TransactionDateTo AND b.DebtorID= @DebtorID
    here i have tried to create a calculated field by joining multiple columns to use the lookup to display the value from dataset 2
    My approach:
    calculated field in main dataset as Join1
    =Parameters!TransactionDateFrom.Value + "||" + Parameters!TransactionDateTo.Value + "||" + Parameters!DebtorID.Value
    calculated field in main dataset 2 as JoinArrears
    =Parameters!GLStartYearDate.Value + "||" + Parameters!TransactionDateTo.Value + "||" + Parameters!DebtorID.Value
    to display:
    =LookupSet(Fields!Join1.Value, Fields!JoinArrears.Value, AllocatedAmount.Value, "dataset2")
    but it is giving error..Please suggest me any solution for this.
    Thanks,
    sam.

    Hi Sam,
    I have copied the RDL code , please copy and save as .RDL file. Using Lookup I did this.

  • SharePoint Calculated Fields Column Question (ISBLANK)

    I have created a formula (that works) assuming all the rows have data in it..... If the date isn't entered (and there are reasons it might not be) it throws in a time before the Internet..ha10/31/1899Example:=IF([Type of Approval]="Final Plan",[Expiration Date]-60,IF([Type of Approval]="Joint Permit",[Expiration Date]-120,IF([Type of Approval]="Misc Permit",[Expiration Date]-120,IF([Type of Approval]="NPDES Permit",[Expiration Date]-120,IF([Type of Approval]="PennDOT Permit",[Expiration Date]-30,IF([Type of Approval]="Preliminary Plan",[Expiration Date]-60,IF([Type of Approval]="Zoning Approval",[Expiration Date]-90)))))))I tired about every variation I could think of to add an (ISBLANK( to just leave the calculated column blank if no date was entered but I keep getting the syntax error message.Just a basic: =IF(ISBLANK(""),"Yes","No")...

    Hi,
    To exclude the weekends and do the subtractions, you can try to use the YEAR, MONTH, DAY and WEEKDAY function to handle the date in use and use IF function to perform the subtractions
    accordingly.
    Calculated Field Formulas
    Another workaround is that we can create an Event Receiver for this, with SharePoint Object Model and other powerful APIs, we can update the Board Date column with the calculated
    value when there is a new item added to this list.

  • Updatable property of Calculated Field in ViewObject does not work

    Hello,
    I have set the Updatable property of some ViewObject attributes to "while new".
    In the page those attributes are shown as <af:inputListOfValues> components.
    When creating a new row, those components properly appear as enabled and let me insert any values, since the row is new.
    However, after a following commit, once the table in the page is refreshed, I still see some components enabled on the row I committed before. This only happens with attributes based on calculated fields, not with those based on real table fields, as if the "while new" property specified on the ViewObject calculated fields was ignored.
    Do you know why? Is there a solution or work around?
    Below are the ViewObject XML section and the af:component definition based on the attribute.
    <ViewAttribute
    Name="Cod"
    IsPersistent="false"
    PrecisionRule="true"
    Precision="15"
    Type="java.lang.String"
    ColumnType="VARCHAR2"
    AliasName="COD"
    Expression="COD"
    SQLType="VARCHAR"
    IsUpdateable="while_insert"
    LOVName="LOV_Cod">
    <DesignTime>
    <Attr Name="_DisplaySize" Value="15"/>
    </DesignTime>
    <Properties>
    <SchemaBasedProperties>
    <CONTROLTYPE
    Value="input_text_lov"/>
    </SchemaBasedProperties>
    </Properties>
    </ViewAttribute>
    <af:inputListOfValues id="ilov1"
    popupTitle="Search and Select: #{bindings.BLOCK.hints.Cod.label}"
    value="#{row.bindings.Cod.inputValue}"
    model="#{row.bindings.Cod.listOfValuesModel}"
    required="#{bindings.BLOCK.hints.Cod.mandatory}"
    columns="#{bindings.BLOCK.hints.Cod.displayWidth}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.BLOCK.hints.Cod.tooltip}"
    autoSubmit="true">
    <f:validator binding="#{row.bindings.Cod.validator}"/>
    </af:inputListOfValues>

    Helga,
    The question is what does this "require" flag do? We read the book of life (cl_htmlb_inputfield), and see that this flag only controls in the first instance a little red * that is rendered next to the input field. This is a pure visualization for the user of the page.
    In addition you can ask that a check be done in the browser. This you can do with:
      <htmlb:inputField  id = "wander"
                         value = "E"
                         required = "TRUE"
                         doValidate="true" />
    However, I would not serious recommend this. Now even if you user presses a cancel button, or link, or breadcrumb, or..., the check will still complain.
    What we currectly do (and recommend), is to set the required flag on the <htmlb:<b>label</b>/> tag. And then do the actual checking on the server (must be done in anycase). If no value, or not correct, then also set the "invalid" flag, render out error message and redo page.
