Weird behavior in master-detail

Dear Forum,
I need to implement an application but I still have a halting error.
I have this strange problem and I'll try to explain.
I have this masterscreen with search functionality. When I do a search, I get a result. When I now enter the details screen of the second row of the search result and I change the fields on the details screen and do a commit, I get the message that the changes were made successfully, but I see the primary key jump to the value of the primary key from the details of the first row of the search results on the masterscreen.
And when I look at the details of the first row, the changes were made in this details, and NOT in the details in which I needed to make the changes.
And now more weird... I can only reproduce the problem in Internet Explorer and whatever I try, it works correct in Firefox.
So the functionality should work as supposed, as it wouldn't work in Firefox.
Has anyone encountered this problem before or does anyone has a solution or tip to get to the solution?
Your help is much appreciated.
Arjen

Steven,
When I tried to create the logs you requested, I ran up to a different problem, also affecting this behavior. When I repaired this, still the weird behavior took place in Internet Explorer. And in Firefox the problem was solved. So I tried to disable the cache in Internet Explorer. This solved the problem there as well..
So this behavior doesn't happen anymore with the cache disabled, thus solved this problem.
Thanks for the effort anyway.

  • 30EA2/30EA1 : Selection Behavior on Master-Detail Result Grid

    Hi,
    Tested on both Win XP and Win 7, SQL Dev with the included jre.
    I notice quite annoying behavior on Master-Detail Result Grid.
    This happen on either Report with master-detail layout (i.e Active Session from the built-in report), popup describe on several tabs, and objet viewer especially on Table's Partition tab.
    Here are the things :
    1. Why made the selection on header result cell lose its focus after selecting one?
    I understand, that SQL Dev needs to re-query for displaying the detail.
    But why not made the selection focus, goes back to the selected (shown by the rectangular yellow line around the cell) header cell ?
    2. Point 1 leads to another problem.
    In order to copy the cell value, we have to click once again to select the cell value (shown by the rectangular yellow line around the cell) from the master grid and press CTRL + C.
    What a waste extra effort here.
    Moreover, I noticed some strange thing on object viewer Table - Partition tab.
    It is really hard to copy the cell value from this tab, i.e copying the partition name value.
    Everytime I press CTRL + C to copy its content, suddenly the cell goes to edit mode, which is read-only of course. CTRL + V to paste seems does not work, like it has nothing in the clipboard to be copied.
    And, navigating the cursor from this point would cause the pointer goes to the last character of the cell content, as well as selecting the content using CTRL + Home, is useless.
    Is it because there is no detail record on the detail (in this case Subpartition) tab?
    However Partition tab on Popup Describe, which supposed to have the same behavior, CTRL + C works just fine.
    Is this an expected behavior?

    When changing selection in Master grid, the Child grid is repopulated. This also cause the Master grid to lose focus which makes navigating & copying from master requiring to select a cell in it again.
    Right ?
    Yes. That's right.
    I see, you use Child as referred to me as Detail, on which I get the name from Reports (when create User Defined Reports on SQL Dev, there shows Master on the top panel and below is Detail. :-)
    If yes, this is the same issue as reported in other thread where executing Statement Runner in worksheet, the worksheet loses the focus & the results grid gets the focus.
    The grid has got focus hungry & I am fixing it.Maybe this explains, why there is a small delay before showing the result grid.
    I tried to compare from SQL Dev 2.1.1 and 3.0EA1.
    3.0EA1 gets a little late (a second maybe) when displaying the result.
    For the last item, here are the things :
    1. From the Schema Browser (Left Hand Side), expand Tables.
    2. Select a partitioned table from the tree, there shown Object Viewer (on Right Hand Side) for that Table. -- I use the term Object Viewer as shown on the Preferences : Automatically Freeze Object Viewer Windows
    3. Select Partitions tab
    4. Click a cell on Master grid, there you go the losen focus
    5. Now, click once again to select
    6. Press Ctrl + C
    7. It suddenly change to cell's edit mode (of course its read-only cell)
    Navigating the cursor from this point would cause the pointer goes to the last character of the cell content, as well as selecting the content using CTRL + Home, is useless
    8. Now, go to the worksheet, and press Ctrl + V, nothing happens as if the copied cell doesn't get into the clipboard.

  • Weird Problem with Add Row Button in Master Detail Page

    I have a page that was created with a Master Detail Wizard. When I click the Add Row button on our Production Environment, the row counter increments BUT no blank row shows on the screen.
    In our Development Environment, when I click the Add Row button, a blank row appears as expected. Thinking there was some problem with the production app, I exported the Dev version and imported into Production. Still no blank row.
    Thinking perhaps it had something to do with the data, I copied our production application data back into the development application tables. Still, the development app creates the blank row where the production version does not.
    I even used the same browser window for both environments and still get the same results. This was working fine in production then just stopped one day.
    The only clue I have is that the Add Row WILL work if the Master Record has no details or less than a page worth. It seems to happen when the detail records are more than one page worth. Also, when I click the Add Row button, it goes to the last page of the list (say three pages of 10, 10, 6) but no blank row shows up. Again, works fine in the development environment no matter how many pages.
    Any ideas or suggestions why this is happening? Could there be some environment setting that is causing this to happen?

  • Master-Detail form Problem

    Hi,
    I've made a Master-Detail form, but I'm getting a weird behavior... When I query a record from the master block it shows the rocords associated from the deatil block, but if I move to the deatil block and click on any field of the records queried, the block gets cleared and the cursor moves to the first line and enters in insert mode, like if I wanted to insert a new record. This same thing happens when I click on an empty line of the detail block... the rows queried get cleared and it moves the cursor to the first line to insert a new record. I don't want this to happen... When I click an empty line to insert a new record, I want the other records to remain there, not to be cleared from grid... I don't know if that's a property or something, I've checked triggers trying to find something weird, but nothing.
    I want to add that the records are not deleted from the tables, just cleared from the grid.
    Thanks for your help!

    It would help knowing how you have set up your data blocks.  Are they Base Table blocks or do you populate the blocks manually through code?
    If your tables are Base Table blocks, do you have a Releationship created between your Master and Detail blocks?  How many records are displayed in your Detail Block?
    Too many questions...not enough information.

  • Master-Detail Detail does not refresh after it's been empty

    I have a master detail page (both are tables) that works just fine, until I click a master record that has no details.
    After that the panelHeader of teh detail is refreshed with the PPT but the table underneath it is not, I keep seeing "no rows yet", no matter which master record I click.
    When I go to a different page and return it's fine again.
    Only one of my pages has this behavior, I tested this on another and it was fine. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
    My console has this message:
    May 11, 2007 10:52:38 AM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.binding.FacesCtrlRangeBinding$FacesModel getSelectedRow
    WARNING: rowIterator is null

    Ok I found it,
    My details iterator had the following properties:
    <iterator id="AfdelingMedewerkersIterator" RangeSize="-1"
    Binds="AfdelingMedewerkers"
    DataControl="PRBAppModuleDataControl"
    Refresh="IfNeeded" RefreshCondition="#{!adfFacesContext.postback}" />
    I have no idea why I set it like that, but removing the Refresh properties fixed my problem.
    I am still clueless as of why this led to the behavior as described above. I could have understood it if my iterator was not refreshed at all, but I have no idea why it stopped working only after the details were empty and not a second before...
    Anyway, problem solved!

  • ADF master-detail master selection not updating detail tables properly

    Hi All,
    I am using JDev version : 11.1.2.0.0
    I created new Fusion Web Application Module. In that module I created a master-detail data model and added them to a page fragment with a query panel. When I run it as a separate module, It works perfectly and Master selection correctly updates detail tables.
    But when I integrate that module to another Fusion Application(Add application jar file to the Master Application libraries), Master-details master selection not updating detail tables properly. This problem occurred sequentially.
    The problem is that.
    After the page load, first selection of the Master Table works correctly and detail tables update correctly.
    But second selection doesn't work, means detail table doesn't get update according to the Master table.
    And again in the third selection works correctly.
    This happens in a sequential manner. I monitor the behavior using Firebug. Observations are as follows,
    When running correctly, Response of the Post Definition is

    Can you please help me to rectify this problem.

    Hi,
    sound to be an implementation specific issue that is hard to comment on without knowing how to reproduce it. If you have a rerooducible test case based on the Oracle HR schema using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, zip it up, rename the "zip "extension to "unzip" and sent it to the mail address you find in my OTN profile. If you don't have that test case, explain how this can be reproduced

  • I need to understand how to get my master-detail html dataset to refresh.

    My SPRY master-detail dataset does not refresh.  Following is a description of what I have and what I am trying to do.
    The data source is an embedded table.  Each row of the table has two fields: a thumbnail (for the master section) and a full size image (for the detail section).  Each "tr" tag has a class which identifies the category of photos to be displayed.  This feature of the applicaation is loacated on a panel of a SPRY tabbed panel object.  I have links from other pages to open specific tabbed panels.  this part works just fine.
    To select the various categories of photos I have a radio button group.  By default the first category.in the group is selected and when the page initially loads it selects the correct photos and the thumbnails are displayed in the master section and the first full size photo displays in the detail section. All is well to this point.
    Each radio button has an "onClick" behavior which calls a javascript function with an argument specifying the desired category.  The javascript function uses "window.location.assign" to refresh the page passing URL parameters to open the appopriate tab (this works properly) and to pass along the selected category.  The URL parameters show up in the browser just as they should, but the page does not seem to refresh.  I have disabled the caching of the data and that doesn't help.  I put an alert() function in to examine the incoming URL parameters but it does not process at all.  This convinces me that the page just isn't reloading.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    I have something similar, but instead of clicking a radio button, I click the tab of a Spry TabbedPanel widget. Clicking the tab activates a function that changes the XPath and reloads the data. All very simple.
    function newXPath(thepath) {
        ds1.setXPath(thepath);
        ds1.loadData();
    Incidently the above is for a SpryXMLDataSet.
    For a SpryHTMLDataSet you would use setDataSelector("theDataSelector") or setRowSelector("theRowSelector"). For more info see here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/html_dataset/index.html
    I hope this helps.

  • Creating a new row in a master detail VO relation and its consequences.

    Hi,
    I'm currently facing a lot of problems which make me doubt if my perception about the whole ADF entity-view object mechanism is right.
    I have a page which displays data from a master detail VO relation (master offer - detail officeinfo). I also have a small dialog LOV window which makes it possible for me to select an office to match up with the current offer... Both the office LOV and the officeInfo detail use the same Office entity object.
    This worked perfectly fine until I wanted to add create NEW offers. I created my own insert method which basically performs a createRow on the master VO and inserts the newly created row in this VO. On a sidenote, I also fill out some default data read from a property file, which is why I decided to implement my own insert method in the first place.
    Initially, the problem was that the inputText fields of the detail VO (OfficeInfo) were not displayed at all. I imagined that I also had to perform the create and insert methods on the detail VO and indeed, from that point on all inputText fields were displayed and my page was ready for input.
    Yet today, I notice that in my Office LOV which is based on the same entity as the one my detail OfficeInfo VO uses, this newly created row is ALSO visible. To me this is quite unwanted and surprising behavior. I did not expect the row already to be visible in the LOV, since basically it's just an empty row ready for input...
    Am I perceiving things wrong? Or anyone has a nice solution to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Douglas

    Hi Douglas,
    It is happening because you have created an updateable office LOV which is based on same entity object used to save your newly created records.
    Use readonly LOV based on plsql query in your page and you can keep rest of the thing as it is.
    I think it will solve your problem.
    Cheers,
    Suyog

  • Weird behavior in opening Aperture images in Photoshop

    I have found a lot of really weird behavior when opening Aperture images in an external editor (in my case, Photoshop, so I'll use PS to refer to it):
    1) If the master image is opened in PS, a new version is created when the file is opened, not saved. So quitting PS without saving leaves you with a new version of the file, regardless of whether you actually saved any changes or not.
    2) If a version (not the master) is opened in PS, a new version is not created, either on open, or on save. So in other words, changes to that version in PS when saved overwrite that version, and the previous condition of that version is lost (with respect to versioning).
    3) If multiple versions of the same image are opened simultaneously in PS, there doesn't seem to be a way to tell the difference between them in PS, except for visually (possibly meta-data, but I haven't checked that, nor would I want to be forced to). The file names of all versions are exactly the same.
    I'm looking for feedback from anyone out there who can explain why this isn't completely quacky version control. I've been using version control almost my entire career (as a software programmer) and here's how I have seen almost invariably version control work:
    1) New versions of files are always created upon commit, i.e. saving of the file, not on opening a file. (Do not confuse this with working copies, think about what is present in the repository).
    2) Opening / editing any file version is never destructive. Any change to that file version that is saved (committed) results in a new version, not an overwrite to the same version.
    Aperture's interface basically has combined what traditional version management has represented separately, that being the client and repository views of a project. They are showing all versions of a file simultaneously. This is fine, but I'm really not liking the fact that some changes create new versions, other changes overwrite versions, and one case, merely opening the file creates a new version, whether there are any changes saved or not. In addition, when working with multiple versions in the editor, the file name and/or interface doesn't give any indication of what version you are working with. Easy to say that's the fault of the external editor, but I disagree -- all external editors are going to work with filenames, so Aperture should produce a unique namespace for any file version so that any external tool will be able to distinguish (visually) one file from another.
    Is this completely wacky version management, or is it just me?

    Hi Bradley,
    Due to the way I personally use Photoshop, I want Aperture to behave as it does.
    That's because, with Photoshop, I use layers extensively. Any edits I do (levels, curves, saturation, sharpening) I do on layers. I can delete the layers at any time (or select to show or hide them). Because of this, I actually WANT Aperture to behave the way it does. Once I've done a bunch of edits in Photoshop, if I select again to edit that file in the external editor, I want to work on that specific file (to add another layer, or change one). I don't want another duplicate. I tinkered with this over the weekend, and it worked very nicely for me.
    Perhaps you work differently from within Photoshop? Do you ever use layers? If I were to have a bunch of Photoshop "versions," each with 5 layers, I'd have like 5 GB of "versions" for my original 8 MB RAW file, due to the size of PSD files. Yuck

  • Weird Behavior in Form

    Hi everybody,
    I have foud weired behavior in my form. I created master detail relation ship between two tables. I kept Deffered and Automatic query property of realtion to NO.
    I run the form and i clicked on execute query. it works properly.
    When fire the execute query command in same session then it brough to first record of the master table but detail record for that master record not shown. Even i gone for the next records. It does'nt show any value or record.
    Please help me on this.
    Regards,
    Amit.

    Didn't you see the forms' help??
    Deferred=No,Automatic Query ignored
    The default setting. When a coordination-causing event occurs in the master block, the detail records are fetched immediately.
    Deferred=Yes, Automatic Query=Yes
    When a coordination-causing event occurs, Form Builder defers fetching the associated detail records until the operator navigates to the detail block.
    Deferred=Yes, Automatic Query=No
    When a coordination-causing event occurs, Form Builder defers fetching the associated detail records until the operator navigates to the detail block and explicitly executes a query.
    Deferred=No,Automatic Query=Yes
    Not a valid setting.

  • Refresh problem by combination of programmatic view and master-detail page

    I am using the latest versions of both ADF (10.1.3.2.0.4066) and JHeadstart (10.1.3.1.26) and I have an application with 1 page in which I have as root page a programmatic view (table-form) which I fill with request parameters.
    Under that programmatic view I have a master (table) with 3 detail pages (table).
    The programmatic view is populated with always 1 row, which goes always correct.
    The problem is occuring when iterating through the first entity based master table which contains lots of rows. Then the problem is that when you navigate through the master table the detail pages are refreshed correctly, but when you navigate back to the first row that row won't get updated.
    The next thing I tried is create a new jheadstart application with only the master-detail pages (entity based), so without the programmatic view, and then the iterating through the master table and the refresh of the child tables is working correct.
    What can be the problem here.

    Have you tested this in the ADF Business Components Browser? That's the tester that you can find by right-clicking your ADF BC Application Module and choosing Test. If you go to the View Object instance for the programmatic view, and using the ViewLinks to its children, do you get the same behavior as in the JHeadstart application?

  • More than 5 rows in the detail table for a Master Detail Portlet

    I have a Master Detail Portlet.   I originally had 5 fields in the detail portlet.  I have added a column to the detail portlet and now the last column is wrapped around in the portlet.  I do not see a way to force it to be on the same line as the rest of the columns for the detail table.
    Do I need to just delete it and re-create the portlet?
    Below is the from the browser when executing the portlet.

  • Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 : Master Detail Using Fragment Error

    Hi
    When developing a master detail solution, using a page fragment, I have encountered the following issues. I have followed forum articles and My Support solutions with success. The steps I used to create the solution is as follows;
    1. Create ADF model project with 2 entities sharing a master detail relatiuonship.
    2. Ensure that FK assocation has Behavior property Composition Association checked.
    3. Test application module. Create works on both master and detail tables.
    4. Create ADF view controller project.
    5. Create a new task flow, with page fragments and add page to flow.
    6. Add master detail VO to created page fragment.
    7. Surround tables with Panel Collection components.
    8. Add toolbar and buttons to createinsert into master and detail tables.
    9. Add PPR to both tables for refresh when createinsert actions are performed.
    10. Create test page.
    11. Add task flow as region to page.
    12. Run adfc-config.xml
    13. Click on createinsert of master table. Capture data.
    14. Click on createinsert of detail table.
    15. Error stack is generated, JBO-25030 Detail entity with row key null cannot find or invalidate it's owning entity.
    I then created a JSF page and added the tables directly onto the page. I successfully created a master and a detail record.
    I then checked the Cascade Update Key attributes on the association and added the following code to the master ViewRowImpl class;
    @Override
    public void setNewRowState(byte state) {
    if (state != Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED || getNewRowState() != Row.STATUS_NEW) {
    super.setNewRowState(state);
    I ran the page containing the region and the following error was generated;
    <Utils><buildFacesMessage> ADF: Adding the following JSF error message: Attribute RegionId in Regions is required.
    oracle.jbo.AttrValException: JBO-27014: Attribute RegionId in Regions is required.
    I then changed auto-submit to true for the PK on the master table. This produced no error, however only the master records PK is committed to the database, other attribute values are ignored and the detail record is not committed.

    Leon.

  • TextField in Master/Detail. How to set content master dependend?

    Hey guys,
    I have a Master/Detail App. In the Master view I have different delivery-items. If I click on one Item I get the detail view loaded with information (among others a TextField for notes).
    If I enter some Text in this TextField it is shown in every delivery-items. How can I set it dependend on the selected item?
    Thanks
    Chris

    In that case the behavior is as expected : since the textfield is not bound to one of the delivery items, it is simply part of the detail view. Any changes to the selection (which changes the selected delivery item) would thus not change the value of the textfield.
    I would rather bind the textfield to the delivery item nodes as well, so your notes are being kept there as well

  • URGENT Please help with weird behavior of test suite

    Hi All,
    I have a composite involving three operations of two different services. The weird behavior comes by the time on which I run the test suite on the EM, if I try to emulate two different operation response from one service, by the time that the flow, tries to emulate the second one, I always receive this error:
    part name="summary">
    <summary>oracle.fabric.common.FabricException: javax.wsdl.WSDLException: WSDLException: faultCode=OTHER_ERROR: Error writing stream: java.io.IOException: Can only write attribute within a tag.: WSDLException: faultCode=OTHER_ERROR: Error writing stream: java.io.IOException: Can only write attribute within a tag.</summary>
    </part>
    On the other hand if I emulate two responses of the same operation it works.
    Does any one have any idea of how to deal with this kind of test? Which seems a very simple test.
    Best regards,
