Weird black bars between divs?

Okay, so I was working on my website earlier and it was going fine, intill I previewed it in Live View, and these strange black lines popped up in between me different div tags.   Here's the code, if anyone knows what's gong on, it would be great if you could leave a reply. =)  (And yes, I know the colors are ugly as sin, I'm going to change them.)

  • Just updated, and now I'm getting weird black bars framing my open windows and distorting some applications.

    I don't know if this is a bug in the new OS system, but it never happened before I updated. What is this and how can I stop it?
    It doesn't happen all the time, but pops up most often when I exit out of full screen, like after watching a video in full screen. Sometimes it goes away on its own, or after I either restart all of the open applications or the computer itself.
    This is what it looks like:

    This is a graphics chip issue.  It is independent of the operating system, in spite of the simultaneous occurrence.

  • Black bars on iMac? (Late 2006)

    Hi,
    I've been getting weird black bars on my iMac. They seem to appear when there are alot of applications loaded. Some times they're on the side of windows. Sometimes on text. Sometimes my mouse turns green. Sometimes my dock is discolored completely. Take a look: http://imgur.com/RqpVOGY,UgOIlLA,ImwHxHg,ioGfArs
    It's just plain annoying, really. Anyone out there know what it could be? I did a Apple Store chat (not knowing they wouldn't know) and they directed me to Tech Support, but warranty is out on my Mac so I'd have to pay $19.00 to find out. :/
    Specs of my iMac:
    OS X Lion (10.7.5)
    iMac Late 2006
    20.1-inch (1680 x 1050)
    Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB
    Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Thanks!

    Hi rosalarose
    To check how much memory you have and your memory usage go to: Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and select System Memory.
    Your problem sounds more like a Software problem with Safari than a Hardware issue with the Memory. Instead of piggybacking on someone else's thread you should post a New Topic of your own here or in the Safari section of the Forum with a more detailed explanation of your problem.

  • COPY and PASTE POBLEM - BLACK BARS!

    After successfully importing a MiniDV from my Canon digital video recorder I am encountering a weird problem. Everything works fine until I open Create A New Movie and drag a clip from the imported movie to the new movie. The clip then appears in what I assume is widescreen format with black bars above and below the clip. There are no black bars on the imported movie. I have checked preferences etc for a widescreen setting and I can't find anything.
    Why is this happening?
    I am slightly bewildered and your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    David.

    Update:
    Sadly, even after updating to 8.2, the problem persists. Between this issue and the problem of Safari refreshing when you switch between tabs (resulting in anything in active Safari browser forms getting erased), using Safari has not been a good experience since upgrading to iOS 8. It was much better in the past.
    If you are also having these problems, I urge you to report them to Apple:

  • Black bar showing up at bottom of screen during the editing?

    When I add some video for editing to Adobe Premiere, it is fine for a while, after some seconds (when there is a gap between two videos) video moves up a bit and a black bar shows on the bottom of the video. How do I remove this? Thanks for the answers in advance.

    When Premiere is acting weird, restart computer, open Premiere while holding down shift+alt until welcome screen.
    Then clean out media cache.
    See if the will resolve the issue.

  • CSS wierds - spaces between div tags

    Safari v4.0.4
    I'm seeing spaces between div tags that are not appearing in FF3.x or IE7&8
    I have inspected these tags and I can not locate where or what might be pushing the div's appart..
    Example: http://dev7.esonicspider.net/facility_overview.html
    Notice the black bar under "Prepare For Frequent Infection Control...." sub title in the header
    The image is 800x209px and the div is defined as the same:
    div#splashfacilityov { position:relative;
    background:url('images/facility_header.jpg') 0 0 no-repeat;
    width:800px;
    height:209px;}
    ..the next div in the stack is:
    div#submenubar { position:relative;
    background:url('images/submenu_bkgr.jpg') 0 0 no-repeat;
    width:800px;
    height:24px;}
    I have played around with both and can not see why that 20px bar is there between the two div's
    Any hints as to what Safari needs here..??
    Thanks John...

    Found that
    @charset "UTF-8";
    in the style sheet was the main problem..

  • Macbook to HDTV black bars

    Hello,
    I am running my macbook in clamshell mode connected to my new 40 inch Samsung LN40A500TF TV, I am using the mini dvi to VGA connector and have the resolution set to 1920*1080, everything works pretty well except the screen is sandwiched and centered between black bars perhaps an inch thick on either side... (Other than this it looks good, no distortion etc.)
    Anyone encountered this before? I have played with the TV options and the macbook resolution looks right... if anyone has had a similar issue any guidance is welcome.
    Thanks.

    You could try the below trick that others have successfully used to try and get 1080p on your MB.
    Open Displays Preferences and put a check mark in the "Show displays in menu bar" box.
    Click on the resulting display icon that shows up in the menu bar to get the drop-down menu.
    Scroll to "Number of Recent Items" and set it to 10.
    Now drop the menu again from the menu bar and see if another 1080 resolution has shown up. Some people claimed they needed to restart, too. Often times a second 1080 resolution shows up and it is 1080p, although it may not say so. But you can confirm it from the TV, which will often have a setting like INFO or something like that where is shows the format it is receiving.

  • How do I get CS4 Change Quality Presets to be used and remove black bars?

    In Encore CS4 I CAN change the quality preset to what I want, but then when I go back to the project it does not stick.  I tried to get to transcode settings, but they are greyed out.  There does not seem to be a way to "USE" the quality preset I have saved!
    This is a single video clip that I sent to Encore from Premier Pro CS4 so I could make DVD and BD's.  However it seems I am unable to make a DVD at 4 Mbps (so I can combine this Premier Pro Project with another on a single DVD) no matter what I try.  Also I notice the BD I made was not m2v like I am used to in CS3, and therefore are not sure I can combine it with a menu and another clip on a single BD as I have done numerous times in CS3 Encore.
    I also notice as I look at preview, and then also when a made a default setting DVD that there are black bars on either side of the picture.  This was a 1440X1080 60i project in Premier Pro CS3 and I am desireing to make ait a 1920 X 1080 DVD.
    Neither of these were problems in Premier Pro CS3 and I am thinking the way around this is to spend the day or two and redo the project in CS3.  I have done many projects successfully in CS3 and mistakenly thought I could just pick up the project in CS4 and be successful again.  If anyone knows how to resolve these in CS4, it would save this extra work, if not, I will join the crowd with CS4 "issues" and go back to CS3.

    First, on the black bars.  I do not want them at all.  I cannnot post a screenshot now as
    file attachments are turned off temporarily, but they are about 5% on either side.  Totally unacceptable especially when in CS3 when exported to Encore there are NO black bars either visible in Encore or in the resulting DVD's
    On the options and is the preset saved.  I can close Encore and open it afresh and find the preset that I saved listed in the dropdown of presets with the name I saved it as and all the settings the way I want them.
    On the issue of Transcode settings when selecting the resource...  When I select the resource in the Project panel, or in the Timeline tab, the Transcode settings is greyed out.  I have consulted the help screens and forums for various ways to change the transcode settings and none of the suggested ways work.
    It looks like my CS4 install does not work the way yours does.  I am about to completely unistall CS4 and CS3 and all other Adobe products and try a fresh reinstall to see if that works.  Most likely I will simply reinstall CS#, since that works, and abandon CS4 for now as I am getting way behind on my work, and know I can finish with CS3.  I have also heard form others that Sony Vegas is really solid and does not have all these weird bugs such as seen in CS4 and CS5, and is a much less bloated product and does the encodings faster.  Since it is also less expensive, this seems too good to be true, but work a trial.  So first rip every Adobe product off  my PC and format the HD and start fress with JUST CS3 and get my work done.  Then try Vegas to see if it is as good as my buddies say, if so bye bye Adobe!

  • Aspect ratio: 4:3 material being exported with black bars (on the sides!)

    Hi all
    I'm fairly new to using FinalCut Express: previously I've used other non-linear video editors on Windows.
    I'm having a bit of a weird problem: I've got a sequence which was shot entirely in 4:3 (PAL). However, when I try to export that to a QuickTime movie it appears squashed from either side — black bars appear at the sides of the frame and everyone looks very tall and thin. The frame itself is still 4:3 but everything is being squashed to fit in the bars.
    I've fiddled with as many settings as are immediately obvious to me to see if I can rectify this, but so far no banana: the sequence is about 90 minutes long and takes about 30 minutes to render each time when exporting.
    Has anyone got any ideas what to do about this? I've been trying to do some research into how FCP/FCE handle different aspect ratios, and it seems to be a very complicated topic. In fact, in the same project I've got a sequence which contains almost entirely 16:9 anamorphic material. Ideally I'd like this to be output in a 16:9 frame with the few 4:3 clips appearing with bars on the side. However, it's only being output as 4:3 where the 4:3 clips appear full-frame and the 16:9 clips have bars at top and bottom...
    Hope someone can help!
    Mac Pro: 3GHz, 6GB RAM, X1900XT, BT, AirPort   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Tom, thanks for the reply.
    Everything looks absolutely fine when played back in FCE; it's only when exporting to QuickTime that my problems start. The point is that this 4:3 sequence isn't being output into a 16:9 frame as a pillarbox: what's actually happening is that it's being put into a 4:3 frame with bars, with the result that the content is in fact being squeezed (it looks wrong).
    How can you modify the aspect-ratio settings for a given sequence? I've looked through all the obvious sequence properties settings but have never found anything.
    I'll just reiterate — it plays back fine within the viewer; only when output does it all go awry.

  • SWF/FLV files show white/black bars on sides of frame

    I have a recurring issue of bars showing up on the left and right side of my swf/flv frames.  The good news is the video plays on our site.  The bad news is the bars show up on some of the flash files (like on testimonials.html) and not on others (like wedding.html), even though I perceive I'm copying in the same code.

    Hi
    1st. I like many other will not download a zip file, can you post a link to the site?
    It may be if you are using the same code but only changing the swf/flv file name, that the swf/flv's are smaller than the size specified in your object code - width="600" height="366".
    If the swf/flv's size is smaller then the player will be the size specified, but your swf/flv will be centralized inside the player, (unless otherwise specified) resulting in the white/black bars.

  • A narrow black bar with text in it telling me what I am doing, has appeared on my screen. Also, there's a voice over speaking the same thing. How can I get rid of it?

    I was checking out some keyboard shortcuts when a black bar appeared with white letters repeating letters as i type. Then telling me where i am and what I'm doing. Also a voice over started, telling me what I was doing. How can I stop this and get rid of the black text bar? It even creates text boxes and things without asking. Help!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This is the first time I've had a question and it was answered within the first click.  Silly cat decided he wanted to play on my computer and turned on a bunch of weird stuff. Including this.

  • Stumping You with Pulsing Dissolves and Black Bars

    To start at the beginning...
    I have been having problems with imported footage recently. I usually import footage from three sources. A Sony VX2100, A little Canon ZR 200 and Quicktime output from Photo to Movie (I use this software to animate still photos - very good).
    In the pasts few weeks all of the footage I import has thin black bars on either side of the frame. (If we assume that the actual size is 720x480 the "image" might be 700x420...resulting in these these black bars being consistantly there regardless of where I am importing from...and on the footage I import from the Canon there is a thin black bar accross the bottom of the frame as well!
    I posted this problem a few weeks back here and on some other forums and the consensus opinion was to reset my easy setup. I trashed preferences and followed this specific advice..."The easiest way to sort this out is to start FCP but close all open projects so that only the menu bar is showing. Now choose Easy Setup from the FCP menu. Check the Show All box if needed and choose your desired setting - this insures that clip, capture and sequence settings are all the same. Now start a new project and capture a test clip. Drop it into a sequence." I selected the basic DV NTSC 720x480. WHich is waht all of teh source material was shot/created at.
    I did all of this and no joy... the black bars are still there after I import it into FCP (there are no black bars in the original source material. It is at true dimensions, so the problem lies in FCP).
    While I have been trying to figure this out I did a simple workaround by blowing the footage up 103% which fills the 720x480 frame. For TV I would not care because the evil bars would be out of TV, but for internet stuff I (obviously) want full frame. The problem when I do this is that when I insert a dissolve between two segments that have been resized (at 103%) the image pulses after the transition. It appears that the stock dissolves only work with footage that is at 100% size...the image pulses back to the 103% size the instant the dissove is complete. Baffling.
    So here is where I am. I can't figure what the deal is with FCP importing footage that is full frame out of the camera or software and getting these black bars...and If try to do a workaround and blow the footage up I get this pulsing after the transitions. The footage is fine if I do manual cross dissolves using the opacity levels but who has the time do do that?
    Any suggestion kids?...this is really annoying.
    MS

    Thanks but that was one of the first (and most obvious) things I tried. That is the thing that is baffling is look liike a window size image but it is not. The black bars are in the image and they occur somewhere in the importing process.
    The only thing I can think of is it is a settings issue as I did not have this problem a couple of months ago.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Black bar in 32-bit comps!?

    Hi,
    Most of my work I do as 8-bit comps in Ae. However, I recently wanted to play with some overbrights in Trapcode 3D Stroke, which can only be realised in a 32-bit composition.
    Whenever I watch the comp, scrub through it it looks OK, but as soon as I play it as a RAM preview, a black bar appears at the top 3rd of the screen (and no, there's no mask or solid covering that area). I thought I had to update my nVidia drivers (I have a Quadro FX 4800-card), but alas, to no avail.
    This also works its way through the rendered out versions.
    The problem persists (or perhaps worsens) whenever I switch the comp back to 16-bit color space:
    Now the top half of the screen is repeated and divided up into a repetitive cycle.
    Only when I switch the comp back to 8-bit, the problem is solved.
    In this comp, I did use a sequence of JPEG (8-bit files). But the problem seems to exist in any new comp or project set to 16 or 32-bit.
    I have a 64-bit windows 7 professional quad-core workstation with 18GB of RAM.
    Any ideas?

    I thought I had to update my nVidia drivers (I have a Quadro FX 4800-card), but alas, to no avail.
    But you're still using OpenGL?! Why not simply turn it off? AE can happily go without it. You're right on the money as far as I can tell - from what it looks like, it's a graphics card issues. Either a color space conversion issue on teh graphics card or some weird stuff with shader programs not being executed fully. Hard to tell, but as a start realyl do try to turn off OpenGL and then look into your driver config. Many times the latest driver is not the best one, so try an older driver version...

  • How to get rid of black bars on top, bottom and sides??

    I am exporting a project from Adobe Premiere Pro (CS3) that is in HD (widescreen) format. The original video is HD, the size option I chose for the project is HD, everything is showing fine when I look at it in the Program window. I admit I am a bit of a novice Premiere user, so I do need a little help with the exporting as there are a ton of options. This is what is happening: When I export, whether to AVI or Quicktime my project comes out with black bars all the way around. Not like letterboxing on top and bottom as when you have a widescreen video exported to a standard 4:3 size, but almost like a 16:9 video, shrunken down a little with a 16:9 black box put around it. What the heck am I doing wrong. I'm sure it has something to do with some option on exporting, but I've tried messing around with the export options about 20 different ways. I'm desperate! Please help!
    Thanks in advance!

    I have several video clips from iStockPhoto. I don't know what camera's/settings were used, but know that they are all 640x360 px and vary between 25 fps and 30 fps. I also have 3 still images that I have insterted that I formatted to be 640x360 to keep everything the same size. Everything appears correct when viewing the project as I've built it. I'm attaching a few screen shots of the most recent settings for export, though these are not the only that I have tried. Everything comes out with the same result.
    I can't insert screen shots of my settings for some reason (?) but here is some info on my most recent try. I chose to export as a Microsoft DV AVI. Then in the Video options I'm using the DV NTSC codec. For size, I chose the D1/NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2) option.
    As for other times I've tried this, there are only 2 other codecs to choose from when saving as a DV AVI. I've tried both of them too. Everything has had the same result. I've tried a Quicktime file as well.
    Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best file/codec/setting combination?
    Thanks,
    Holli
