Weird internet airport issue.

5 computers running on a network.
3 imac 24"s all on OSX 10.5.6
2 G5 towers 1 on 10.5.6 the other on 10.4
3 iMacs are on wifi
the G5 towers are hard lined.
The one G5 tower running 10.4 keeps losing internet and then it kills the signal for the rest of the network.
then a window will pop up saying..
"IP configuration
192.xxx.x.x in use by
00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, DHCP
server 192.xxx.x.y
this only happens once he turns on the computer.. everything dominos down hill from there for the rest of the day.
any help would be greatly appreciated seeing I'm trying to help my boss who's comp is doing it and I keep getting pulled from illustrations to fix issues.

Hi
Change that users network setting to DHCP rather than manual. That way everyone is assigned an IP address from the DHCP Server (probably your router) and no two clients will have the same address. If everyone is on a Static address make sure no two are the same.

  • Weird Internet Explorer Issue: Elements not in place after going live

Has anyone run into this? I am working on my elements and pages in Dreamweaver (CS5) and they are now live at:
    http://www.blackcreekisc.com/TEST/index.html
Unfortunately, sometimes in internet explorer the elements are nowhere near where they should be. I have to click "refresh" several times to get them to "jump" back where they should be. The frequency and elements that are out of place is not consistent. This is very strange and frustrating. Can anyone help?

Rock On! I found what seems to be a fix for the "jumping" problem. Forcing
the browser to open in IE7 with the meta tag:
DOES fix the jumping problem. It does open up a can of slightly lesser
paragraph placement issues, but these are mild comparitively.

  • Weird airport issue

i'm not quite sure if this is my computer or the network i'm using, but i'm having some weird erratic airport issues. i am on a wireless network at my university, and it usually works just fine. however, a few weeks ago it sporadically started to drop the connection (making my internet slow to non-functional, 1 or 2 bars of signal). the thing that's weird about all of this is that when this happens and i click on "open network preferences", the internet then picks back up without me doing anything further than opening the preferences window. it only lasts a minute, but every time i open the network preferences it somehow jump-starts my internet again (making me think that it's possibly my computer, not just the network). this is probably a stupid question, but i am not entirely savvy with the inner workings of my macbook. i have a 15" macbook pro, and i got it around march of 2008.

Well I tried changing it but to no avail.....
Another piece of info. It's not running N it's running b/g.

  • Internet - AirPort Extreme (b/g) - Time Capsule - File Server

I've got a small office network where files are served off a Mac mini, and iMacs connected via 802.11n wifi to the wired mini via Time Capsule. I have a spare AEBS (b/g) that I was thinking of setting it up for iPhone and guest access of internet. To keep the mini and iMacs secure, the set-up would be:
Internet -> AirPort Extreme (b/g) -> Time Capsule -> Mac mini and iMacs
The only issue I'm contemplating - the slower Ethernet ports on the Extreme - which I don't think is a problem for connecting to the Internet. Is there anything else I should be concerned about regarding network performance?
Thanks in advance for the collective wisdom!

That would work. The Ethernet ports on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is faster than your internet connection so you shouldn't have a problem.

  • MBP Santa Rosa Airport Issues w/ Leopard

    Hi everyone,
I've noticed a few "quirks" since upgrading to Leopard. Whenever my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa, 2.4 GHz, 17", 4GB RAM) is searching for a wireless network to join, the system becomes completely unresponsive. The mouse pointer stutters and jumps around the screen and it's impossible to precisely control its movement. When I can finally manage to click on the Airport icon in the menu bar and select the appropriate network to join, the problems stop as soon as a connection to a wireless network is established. It only happens when the system is searching for a Network. I should mention that it does this when I am at work (where I connect via 802.1x and TTLS) and at home (where I connect via an Airport Express Router).
Also, my computer no longer automatically connects to my work network (it does at home, though) after a restart or waking from sleep). I have my MBP set to prompt me for a password when it wakes from sleep, but it's near next to impossible to enter in the password because the system hangs so badly as it tries to establish a network connection. Of course, it doesn't connect unless I manage to click the Airport icon and specify the network I wish to join. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
All of this is a little frustrating since the latest updates to Airport in Tiger fixed all of the connection issues I had had previously with my MBP. When I first bought the machine I had many issues with network connections (as did many thousands of others who bought this model). I was wondering if other MBP Santa Rosa owners have observed similar behavior since upgrading to Leopard, and if so, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this issue?
I should also mention that my Mac Mini C2D 1.83GHz (latest model) has no such issues so I think this is something that is still linked to this particular model of MBP.
    Many thanks!

I am moving this over here, from the boot camp section. Hopefully this is more the location that this needs to be in. Well, my problem is not as extreme as some, but still an annoyance. I installed Leopard the first day, and immediately had HUGE airport issues. The computer would lose my hub. I run an Airport Extreme with an Express as a WDS. The computer would see the express, but lose the extreme completely. So no internet. If I messed with it long enough, I could get the computer to recognize the extreme, but as soon as the computer went to sleep, it would lose it again. I installed the keychain update, and the situation didn't get much better. Most of the time I get the "You are not connected to the Internet" error in Safari, and when I run network diagnostics the computer "finds" the internet again, and I get a "Network configuration change detected" message and all my lights go green.
After I installed the Keychain update, I repaired disk permissions. Any ideas?

  • Windows 7 has **bleep** terrible internet connectivy issues due to linksys router!!!

Well, its a really long story that lasts for a total of 6 months, and I solved some of the problems, but more just kept coming.I will tell you the problems I am having now, to shorten up the story. So In late Nov of 2009 I upgraded my toshiba windows vista 64-bit computer to windows 7 64-bit, with 4GB ram. So anyway, this computer is pretty good, fast, and I keep it in good care. However, internet connectivy issues are the only bad thing. From my 6 month experience with these ongoing internet issues, I have concluded that that problems now are: the computer cannot connect to the home network because authication has failed, but I KNOW for a fact the I typed in the secuity password to my network correctly and got all the secuity settings and network name correct!!! Secondly, I am having the ip conflict with another pc on my network, but I dont think this is the cause for preventing me from loading any pages on the internet, since I changed the ip address manuelly of the other pc to something else.
So right now I really only have that one problem. I figure this is due to miscommucations with my pc and the router. The weird thing is sometimes I am able to do everything on the internet with no problems, but only sometimes. This is what happens, I cannot connect to my network or get disconnected, my internet is very very slow, the pages will load but be blank.
I am using wireless, and roadrunner, so yes broadband.
I dont know the soluation really, but I do know that all the other computer and devices on my network(2 wireless pcs, one wired into the router, 2 ipods, a wii, xbox360) all connect great, but my computer is the only one that runs windows 7 and was made by toshiba.
Other information I need to tell you???
    Please help me!
You will be making me very happy, and destroying my stress.
Thanks, and best regurads to you all struggling with issues or helping resolve them.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for the help guys, but I finally was able to buy a new router. All I know is linksys routers dont work so well, espeically bad with windows 7-
this is what my experiences would tell me. Anyway the new router works pretty good so far. I haven't been disconnected from the internet yet, so
    that's a good sign.
    Thanks, again.
p.s  So I didn't  try any of your guys methods of solving the issue, but thanks.

  • Airport Issue After Waking From Sleep (White Unibody MacBook)

Hi all. On my new white unibody MacBook I have an Airport issue that always occurs after I wake the MacBook from sleep. I'm wondering if any of you have a similar issue and/or might not how to solve it.
Basically, when I wake the MacBook from sleep, it connects to my wireless network (and to whichever network I happen to be using at the time). A few seconds later, it will drop the connection, an exclamation mark will appear on top of the Airport icon on the menu bar, and when I click on the icon I see "Alert: No Internet Connection."
Then, if I just sit and wait, eventually Airport will connect to the network. But I have to wait -- selecting the network from the available list or turning Airport off and on doesn't help. And sometimes waiting isn't enough -- I sometimes have to go to "Create Network ..." and start all over to get a connection.
I've upgraded to 10.6.2 and the issue persists. I'd appreciate any help.

My wife's Macbook has EXACTLY the same problem and I've been through dozens of suggestions trying to fix it and the problem still persists.
The problem started right after I upgraded to Snow Leopard but also installed an Airport Extreme router and WPA2 wireless encryption. I've deleted all the networks, changed the order to put the Airport as the highest preference, deleted all the keys on the keychain, ran DiskUtility, all to no avail.
I'm not sure if this is somehow related to the Airport Extreme or occurs with any router. Also, have another MacBook Pro (unibody), and it does't have this problem connecting to the same Airport Extreme.
The other factor is it is intermittent --- and doesn't always fail. Rebooting the Macbook or the router will get it to re-connect, as will shutting off and turning on the Airport several times. But that's not a solution to the problem.
Apple needs to pay attention to this as many people are now reporting the problem.

  • I can´t connect the internet - airport express + windows xp pack3

I have a problem to connect the internet in my computer (system Windows XP Pack 3) using Air Port Express. My roommate has a mac pc and everything was easy, but in my case it was not. I tried to use the “Airport setup assistant for windows” and nothing, I tried to update my wireless drivers and nothing. I tried to configure the wireless by hand, because it was not able to find automatically the airport base station. But, maybe I´m using incorrect IP and gateway values. I don´t know what else I can do to solve my problem. Sometimes, the internet symbol is on (when I configure ip value by hand), but when I open firefox or internet explorer … it is not connected.
    Oh… please, help-me!
    Thanks.
    p.s. PC = Acer Aspire 5315, 802.11b/g wlan

I have the same problem. My iMac talks to the Airport Express with no problem, but my PC Laptop (running Windows 7) appears to connect but I can't use the internet - same issue as the first post in this discussion. I'd love to hear from someone who can help. Apple doesn't seem to be able to provide support on this one...

  • Internet Connectivity Issues

By process of elimination, I may have the right source of my problem, but may not!
Recently purchased a Time Capsule, primarily to replace my old Airport Extreme and extend its effective range within a new house. At the same time, I upgraded my iMac OS to Snow Leopard (so maybe this has caused a problem?!)
In the last few days have been having severe internet connectivity issues - either v slow speeds or so slow that Mail and/or Safari times out. My ISP tells me that their lines are working fine (I know they would say that, wouldn't they) and, admittedly, my old Powerbook (connected to the Airport network and onto the DSL router) is running Internet applications fine. So somthing seems to be wrong with the iMac or its setup.
Have run Network Diagnostics which tell me there's no problem (except it's still really slow!) and have obviously rebooted repeatedly (including the router and Time Capsule).
    Any ideas?

    Hello AnaB4,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are getting a message to connect to server to update ink levels when printing with the 8620. This has been an issue since the weekend, server problems have been noted as the cause. The only resolution I know of at this time is to follow the steps here: Re: How do I correct the date on my HP Envy 4500?, or keep hitting OK.

  • Internet connectivity issues on Mac

I was wondering if there was any solution to an internet connectivity issue I'm having on a mac. It seemed to start when I purchased a new modem: an iPrimus AudioCodes MP252 wireless router. Basically the internet connection will either drop out or become stagnant/very slow. There have been no connection/speed issues on any Windows PC or laptop, but often when you try to use the internet on the mac it precipitates a network dropout, thus affecting the connection on Windows computers as well.
I'm trying to see if there's anything else that can be done besides taking it in to be serviced. ISP support hasn't been able to fix the issue, so perhaps it is some sort of compatibility issue between that particular modem and Apple Macs. Obviously the last resort is buying a new modem.
Modem: AudioCodes MP252 Series wireless router
Mac: Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

Hi, some Modems/Routers only like Windows PCs, also see if QoS is running on it giving most resources to PCs.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.
If that doesn't work try changing channels on your Router.

  • My brand new mac pro always had Internet connection issues at school. WHY is that? I see the school's Internet working perfectly fine on other PC's, but there is never a day where my mac doesn't have Internet connection issues at school. How do I fix it?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?

    Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input.  I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy.  I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
    Nathan.

  • Weird internet problem / ssl connection error, site loads in safari not in firefox or other way around

I really can't figure out this problem. Search the internet tried all kinds of things, nothing help so far.
I have a Macbook Pro (Lion originally installed) running on Mavericks (all latest updates). SSD installed and the DVD tray is replaced by the original HDD.
The laptop wasn't running very smooth anymore so decided to give it a fresh Mavericks install (even though I know it's not really necessary for mac, it helped, everything is much faster except a weird internet problem came up).
After freshly installing Mavericks I couldn't get into my google account anymore, just wouldn't load. Tried Safari (use this normally) and Firefox and Chrome, this last was gave a SSL connection error, both Safari and FF said the website couldn't be loaded because the server didn't respond. For Gmail I use Mailplane which is just stuck on a white page. I tried repairing the keychain, repaired disk and disk permissions, cleaned browsers, turned off firewall and antivirus (Shopos) started in safe mode, checked time settings which were all good. Nothing of this helped. I even ended up creating a usb bootdisk for Mavericks, formatted the disk and reinstalled from the start just Mavericks and nothing else, started Safari, still the same problem. As even this didn't help I figured it's not worth reinstalling all software so put back my backup.
Now I ended up somehow only being able to use Gmail normally in Firefox, Chrome still gives SSL error and Safari can load the inbox, but I can't open any messages. I get the error there is a problem with the connection. If I try in Basic HTML mode it surprisingly does work.
You would say, just use Firefox, finished...but the thing is that sometimes random websites won't load in Firefox, when I load the same site in Safari it works perfectly.
O yes, I also tried the connect to my iPhone and use the Cellular data network, then it's no problem using Gmail in Safari normally. You would say it's a router problem, but I have another Macbook Pro (just one model later running Mountain Lion) this one works perfectly with every browser. Also my iPhone does everyting logged into the WiFi network.
You can understand I really have no clue what's going on here, I don't see any logic. I can only think of a hardware problem in my Macbook, but don't see how that could cause these problems.
I hope someone is ably to help me ?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Airport issues, and "home" folder question

I'm having a problem with airport utility on my Macbook pro with OSX 10.5.3. It somehow turns itself off, and cannot be turned back on unless, the computer is restarted. Once restarted, it only stays on for a few minutes and then is turned off again. I have a time capsule, and when time machine attempts to back up, it seems to trigger it. However, even with time machine turned off, it still gets turned off. I took it to a genius bar, and the guy there seemed to think making a new account would fix it, but it didn't. It actually created another problem. He deleted my old account but saved the "home" folder. When I log into my new account, I can't access any of my music, documents, photos, etc. How do I get stuff from the saved home folder, to my new home folder???

Hey Thanks for your replies. The airport issue is being resolved. I was on the phone with applecare, and the problem was actually something with the power supply. For some reason it wasn't supplying power (or enough power) to the airport card, and that is why it would shut itself off and not turn back on. So it is being serviced right now.

  • TS1317 Internet Connectivity Issue - specifically with the DNS settings

    Hi there,
I'm wondering if someone can help me resolve an internet connectivity issue on my MacBook Pro.
It appears to be a problem specifically with the DNS settings. I am connected to the internet but can only reach a website by typing in the IP address, not the domain name. The error messahe says: "Unable to resolve server's DNS address."
Regardless of whether I use Wifi, 3G modem or cable, i get the same error.
Operating System is Mac OSX Version 10.6.7
    Please help!
    Thanks

It sounds like your MacBook Pro has either incorrect or missing DNS IP address information in it network profile. Let's start with your wireless connection. You would find these in System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > DNS tab
If your main Internet router is performing as the DHCP server, it would provide the DNS IP addresses (typically from your ISP) on this tab. You may have two or more addresses listed. If they are grayed, that means that the addresses are coming from the DHCP server.
In the following example screen shot, I am using DNS servers provided by OpenDNS. Notice that they are grayed as they are being provided by my main Internet router. Again, these should be either ones provided by your ISP or ones you purposely set up, like my OpenDNS ones.
