Weird Question -- Universal Products?

This is probably going to sound incredibly idiotic, but I just wanted to double check before I spend a lot of money. I need to buy a new battery for my Macbook Pro, as its been two years and it *****. I'm also buying a Time Capsule and Leopard for it.
*I just wanted to double check* but I bought my MBP in the States, and am now living in Scotland - are the products universal? I shouldn't worry about buying these additions in the UK for my US laptop right?
Sorry for sounding like a muppet. :\

No, they're fine. Just be sure you order the correct battery (the new, unibody MBPs have a different battery). Buying the Time Capsule in Scotland, it will come with the correct AC plug for where you are now (but the power supply itself is 100-240 V).

  • Two weird questions about BP maintenance......SOS!!!

Two weird questions about BP maintenance......SOS!!!
    The procedure is like this:
These informtion will be import to SAP:
    BP information
    Address Information of this bp.
    Communication information of this BP
    1. check if the bp exist, if yes, update the BP.Then go to 3.if no go to 2
    2. Create a bp with the Address information and communication information
    3. Check if the Address information has been existed,if yes go to 4.else go to 5
4.Update the address information with the communication information.
5.Create a new address for this BP.
And the problem I got is like this:
    1. After I changed the BP information, such as the surname, lastname etc.Use this BAPI
"BAPI_BUPA_CENTRAL_CHANGE",I commited it.Then I call the BAPI "BAPI_BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE" to change the Address of this BP,however
When I call the BAPI_BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE,it always told me the BP is locked by myself.............
I am sure I do not open the BP in the other window. And I commit it after I call the BP Change BAPI.
    2. When I change the communication information ,it always told me BAPIADTEL you want to update does not exist in this system.....I am sure it does.
    Who can help me??
    Thanks very much

    Hi,
    1) Problem with the lock. To commit the changes after the BAPI_BUPA_CENTRAL_CHANGE API, instead of using commit work to commit, Use BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT. This should solve the problem. This wil help in clearng the buffers of BP.
    2) in the BUPA_ADDRESS_CHANGE, for telephone there are two parameters to be filled IT_ADTEL, IT_ADTEL_X
IT_ADTEL : Should be filled with the telephone details etc (Consnumber should not be filled for inserts. This should be filled only for updates).
Corresponding IT_ADTEL_X structure has to be filled with update flag as 'I', 'U' or 'D' based on the task.
Hope this helps. Let me know if some more info is needed.

    Sudheer.

  • Question in Product Cost Collectors

    Hi All,
I have one question in Product Cost Collectors.
We are using REM and we have multiple products with same BOM routing. Is it possible to assign several materials to to one Product Cost Collector inorder to reduce number of cost collectors.
For example, for routing we can create  a Group and assign serveral materials to a group.
    Thanks and Regards
    Purushothaman

    Hi Purushottam,
In REM, it is required to create it for every material.
Even if material has more than one production version, need to create separate Product Cost Collector.
Some more explanation on Product Cost Collector -
u2022 Object in cost accounting used in Repetitive Manufacturing.
u2022 A separate product cost collector can be created for each production version or material. The collected costs are settled to inventory at the end of the period.
u2022 The functions performed for product cost collector during the period end closing process include :
u2022     Work in process (WIP) caculation
    u2022     Variance calculation
    u2022     Settlement
u2022 In Repetitive Manufacturing, all costs attributed to the production of a material are collected on a product cost collector and settled periodically (period-based Controlling).
u2022 The product cost collector is settled periodically according to the posting period  (for example monthly) .
u2022 For a material , product cost collector is made for each  version
u2022 The actual cost collected can be viewed through product cost collector.
    Hope it is clear now.

  • A weird question concerning iTunes?

Ok I guess this is my question. I am a huge fan of the band Tool and as some of you may know some of their songs are in two parts, like part 1 leads into part 2 (i.e. Parabol - Parabola on Lateralus) and I was wondering if it is possible when having the shuffle feature on that if Part I of a song would come on iTunes would play Part II of the song and then go back to random shuffle. I know this is kind of weird, but if this were possilbe that would be real awesome.
Thanks for you guys' time and input.

    hi Sp0t!
not a weird question at all.
there's a sort of workaround for that. reimport those two songs from the CD using the "advanced > join CD tracks" they'll be imported as a single track that will play all the way through parts one and two.
there's a worked-through example of doing this in this thread:

  • Weird question

This is a weird question, not really related to Java; so please excuse me for it. Does anyone know the ASCII value of the new line character?

Should that not be 10?Yes, sorry. 13 is \r, 10 is \n. 13 will show up as a new line on 'doze boxes. That's what I get for trusting my memory... o_O
    String s = "%" + (char) 10 + "%";
    assert "%\n%".equals(s);
    String t = "%" + (char) 13 + "%";
    assert "%\r%".equals(t);~

  • Weird question in SSIS 2012 package

    hi folks:
I've created a SSIS 2012 package in my local machine using
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer
    Version 11.0.3436.0
This package contains a script task using .NET framework 4 .
Everything works fine and I decided to deploy to the QA server.
On the QA server, the package wont' work then I decided to open in the SSIS designer with the same version 11.0.3436.0
This is when this weird things happens.
On the QA machine, when I opened this deployed pkg directly in SSIS designer and ran it, the pkg failed with the error pointing to the script task.
Then, I literally opened the script task and closed it WITHOUT changing anything .
After that, I ran the same package in SSIS designer... Guess what, it worked!!!
Weird!  could anyone here help explain what just happened? this makes my deployment process a nightmare as I have to literally opened the script task after it gets deployed and change the pkg location as SSIS designer will save the "good"
pkg in a different location other than deployed one.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi cat_ca,
According to your description, the first time you run the SSIS package in SSIS designer, the package failed with the error pointing to the script task, you opened and closed the script task and re-run the package, it worked fine.
When we debug the SSIS package, the script component will be compiled to binary. In this case, the binary reverse failed due to some reason, so the script task is not normally build. To troubleshoot the problem, we can make use of logging feature to monitor
    execution of an SSIS package.

  • Questions about product recovery DVD??

    Hi,
after having experienced an unrecoverable boot failure with Windows XP Home Edition on my Equium A60-181 I had no choice but to use the product recovery DVD. I noticed there was something called expert mode I assume this lets you create a custom installation of the factory default. So I'm wondering is it possible to format the harddrive as FAT32 instead of NTFS create a partition for Linux and still use the product recovery DVD?? In case you are wondering I want FAT32 so I can safely read and write my XP partition with Linux since NTFS writing is still experimental at the moment.
    Cheers,
    Richard S.

    Hi
If the second operation system (e.g. Windows 2000, Linux) should be installed, please change the CD-ROM to the "three of three" or "two of two". Please, see the Recovery CD-ROM.
Drive "X" is the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. With the keys "Alt+i" and the up and down cursor keys, it is possible to change the drive letter. Select the "*.GHO" file. (e.g. GAR1ENP2.GHO) and press "Enter". The "Select source partition from image file" appears. For "OK", simple press "Enter".
At the next window, it is possible to choose the Hard Drive Disk (HDD) on which the recovery file should be installed. Normally, only one HDD is in the machine. Just press "Enter". On the next window, it is posible to choose the partition on which the recovery file should be installed. If the HDD has no partition, the Recovery Utility will generate one. The size of this partition can be adjusted. The size field is marked, just insert the desired size in MB.
Mark the destination partition and press "Enter". A question appears: "Proceed with partition load?". Choose "Yes" to start the recovery process.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Recovery.
    Best regards

  • Questions About Production

I have a client that has asked me to cleanup book files for output to a printer. The container file is an InDesign file with 48 pages that have lots of linked low res graphics. He wants me to convert all the hi res RGB JPG images to CMYK, 300 ppi (no resampling), and tifs.  My questions are as follows:
Would it make sense to setup an action that does all of this at once? (I already set this up and it seems to be working well. But just wanted other's input.)
When converting files from RGB to CMYK, should I go up to Image/Mode/CMYK? Or go to "Convert to profile" or "Assign Profile"?
Should I always embed the CMYK profile? I usually would embed SWOP v2.
If I want an Action to be recorded, for example, if I want to automatically embed the color profile into the image when saving it as a tif, does the first image that I record with need to NOT have an embedded profile? Then once I click the embed profile it will record it? Same with LZW compression, does the first image need to lack LZW compression in order for it to get recorded when I click on it for the first time for that image?
    Thanks for the help!

    • Yes, that would make sense. In combinations with Image Processor or Batch or as a Droplet that should make the task a lot easier. (Personally I would use Scripting but that would hardly pay off for infrequent jobs.)
    • One cannot Assign a CMYK-profile to an RGB-image, Converting is preferable to Mode – CMYK unless You are certain that Your Color Settings fit the requirements exactly. Anyway Assigning Profiles is best avoided unless one has a certain grasp of what that means (changing display without changing pixel values as opposed to converting, where the values are changed to maintain the appearance under different conditions).
    • Embedding seems definitively advisable, otherwise people farther down the production-line will have a hard time ascertaining which print-condition the images were separated for.
    • I don’t think so. Moreover with Image Processor the saving step would not need to be part of the Action.
As regards relinking the images in bulk You might search/or post in the Indesign (Scripting) Forum.

  • Weird question on Job history

    hi there:
I've created a job and schedule it to run every 5 mins. This job contains 2 steps. This job has been running for a while and I want to check it out. I saw this log file which is very confusing.
at 9/17/2014 2:10pm, it ran for 3 steps as supposed to be 2 steps. How is that possible?
Also there is no job running history at 2:05pm which is odd. I do know that this job was running very odd( extremely slow)
    at 2:05pm...
Anyone saw this before? please feel free to share your experience.

  • Question on Product Registration

(Apologies ahead of time if this is the wrong place to ask--
please let me know where I should go?)
My company bought 10 licenses of Master Collection for PC,
which included several spares. I want to install it on my mac at
home. Can I just download the trial for mac and use my license
code, or will I run into a problem?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.
For the time being, I'm limited to a PPC and can't use software designed for Intel chips. This is my issue. It's really not about finding a cleaver & inexpensive pathway to upgrades. Would love a new MacPro, but that's not in my immediate future.
The old software I'm looking into is Final Cut Studio 2 (or FCS 5.1), as FCS 3 does not work on a PPC. So, I'm limited to after market options, which are full of potential problems and shady characters. I'm sure some folks don't really know the history of the product they're selling (e.g. a pawn shop). Honestly, this strategy is not my favorite idea, but I am doing my due diligence as best I can.
I didn't post my question on the FCS/Pro forums because I thought my question was generic and applied to any Apple software product.

  • Weird question, but it needs to be ask ( sorry )

My friend bought a G5 dual 2.5 not the new one
and i was there 2days ago to set it up, as i checked the specs of the mac it seems to be abit different from mine
mine has ATI Radeon 9600 XT for the graphic card and his is GeForce FX 5200
which one is better, i know mine came with the mac orginal so its safe but why is it the same mac with two different specs
and do you think the person that sold the G5 change the card?
its not a good place to ask this question but its needed for logic as well
because his logic crash straight on the first launch and aperture isn't working on his it says
    WARNING:
The installed graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for Aperture.
his applications crash more often than mine on the same day
we both got almost the same setup
G5 dual 2.5Ghz 3gb of rams and 2x21 inches LCD flat screens
different interface, he is using the built in I'm using M-audio 1010LT
    this really serious
and also to anyone that didn't buy the original mac from the shops please check the specs
you might be going through the same thing as him
    thanks alot
    stash

    Stash,
Check the RAM in the machine. If there is aftermarket RAM in there, it could be causing a problem. Run the Apple Hardware Test. Also, the GeForce card is the barebones card that ships with the machines. At least, it was the barebones with my dual 1.8. Not nearly enough for Aperture, I don't think. I run a lot of Motion on my machine and had to upgrade to a better ATI Radeon 9800 Mac Edition with 256MB in order to start getting any type of smooth workflow.
The graphics card shouldn't affect Logic, obviously, but it would explain the Aperture problem.
    Check the RAM!!

  • Potential new T61 user with some questions about product/support/etc.

    Hi all!
I've been using Dell Latitude's for last 7+ years and been happy with them thus far, as I was able to stay within the C-series thru 3 systems and reuse some components such as batteries, CD-ROM, etc. but now that I'd have to go to D-series, that gives me the choice of going to new vendor...and IBM/Lenovo was the only other choice due to my OS requirement: XP Pro!
So now I'm here asking some questions that I'm still having issues with:
    (I'm comparing the T61 to Dell D530 and/or my C610)
    1) Features that I've used on existing Dell that I don't see on T61 :
        a) Infared port --- I've used to transfer stuff from one sys to another
        b) S-Video out --- I've used to display on TV for some situations
        c) Serial port --- can't recall using it but with my luck, I'd need it sometime.
        d) Parallel port (C610) --- for my really old printer used on rare occasions
        e) Floppy drive --- yes, I still use it for some unusual situations
    2) On Dell, I can put a 2nd battery or floppy drive in the media bay instead of CD/DVD...what about T61?
    3) Support:
        a) Dell forums have 7+ yrs of history and are well used...this forum seems brand new...was there another one before it?
        b) My Dell's have lifetime tech support (ok, so sometimes understanding the folks from India can be an issue) but IBM seems to limit this to life of warranty.
    4) Pricing: T61 would be seem to be, at minimum, about $150 more than similar Dell even with current "sales"...I'm having trouble justifying this...
    5) Things that I see that T61 has that new Dell D530 doesn't:
       a)  built-in mike --- my current Dell has it and I use it now and then so this is a plus!
       b) keyboard light --- nice feature, but couldn't I use a USB one instead if I really needed it?
       c) fingerprint reader --- never used one...how often do people use it?
       d) 2nd card slot for Express cards --- current Dell has two standard slots and I'm using both, though one is wi-fi which C610 didn't have built-in...and other is modem to replace failed built-in...D530 has only one slot, so having 2nd of any type is good.
       e) middle mouse button --- is that what I'm seeing? Or is it something else?
       f) recovery partition --- ok, nice but how much room does it take?
    6) Things that D530 has that T61 doesn't:
       a) 4th USB --- I'm used to only 1 now so even 3 would be big step up...
       b) 15" standard screen --- T61 is only a 14.1" screen and that extra bit of size would likely help, but I'm limited on physical dimensions to 13.5" total width (unusual situation) so a 15.4" wide screen isn't possible...I'm looking at SXGA+ in either case to maximize usage.
       c) recovery CD is standard --- so I'm presuming I'd have to create my own here?
That, I think, about does it...so...any users willing to help me decide if a switch is good for me?
    Thanks!!!
Update: It seems that phone tech support is only available for warranty period with IBM, whereas with Dell, I can still call for hardware tech help (to diagnose problem at least) for "lifetime" or well past paid period, as I've already done in past...comments?
Update #2: Changed the incorrect "R"s to "T"! Duh!
Message Edited by J_Hallgren on 12-28-2007 07:50 PM
A current Dell Latitute user who was looking to maybe switch...But didn't.

I finally made the switch to Lenovo and the Thinkpad line of notebooks and think this was the best move I have ever made in years! I've spent far too much money maintaining a separate notebook (Dell Latitude L400) several custom built desktops.  This December, I sold my desktops, my laptops (I had 2 L400's), and my 20" Aquous LCD TV to finance my Thinkpad T61.  It was well worth it!  I will try to answer your questions in this checklist, which I found to be quite similar to my own .... frighteningly exactly like my own....:
    Hardware Requirements
IR: This is pretty outdated but functional.  I used to use a Palm with IR as well as an IR laser printer.  I ditched both for a PDA phone with bluetooth.  The laser printer is networked now
S-Video: You might be able to get away with a TV tuner cardbus or a expres card.  There might also be external converters that convert from your VGA/DVI (DVI via port replicator) into any variety of video outputs.
Serial: My older Palm had a serial port for the docking station - bluetooth is a good replacement
Parallel port: I currently have a USB to parallel adapter in my bag just in case.  These are cheap cables and work well.
Floppy: I keep a USB one of these just in case.  I find that having fewer input devices on my laptop and leaving them external help keep the machine lighter for my mostly mobile usage (e.g., my L400 with no inputs at all except 1 USB port).
T61 Spare Battery: Uses ultrabay battery - I rarely use the DVDRW drive and leave the ultrabay battery in there while on the go.  DVDRW drive stays in the bag until needed.  I recommend you upgrade to the 9 cell battery with the advanced ultra bay battery, which will give u something like 9 to 12 hours of operating life.  If you are not a fan of the battery pack sticking out like crazy, stick to the letter box format laptop (not widescreen), which will provide the minimum amount of battery pack stick-out with the 9 cell battery.  The 6 cell will not stick out with the letterbox laptop but will stick out with the widescreen version.
Support Options:  I rarely call support so I have no opinion here.
Pricing: Price was not really a concern for me.  I purchased mine for the business look mainly, which Lenovo maintained well.  I don't like the shiny/plastic/toy look of Dell and Apple computers these days.  If anything, consider the premium an investment in the build quality of these machines (or a premium just for the good looks).  I particularly like the roll cage as well as active protection system that stops the hard drive as soon as the system detects excessive motion.
    Included Hardware Comparison:
I like the mic, use it often for Skype and the built in 1.3MP webcam as well.
Keyboard light.... kinda cute but not as functional because it simply is too small.  It was a cute idea that could have been made better had Lenovo opted for a backlit keyboard instead.  That would have been more functional and added to the "cool" factor.
With regards to the Express Card and PCMCIA card slot, I rarely use either because everything is built in.  However, if you want that TV tuner, an express card or PCMCIA card slot is good.  If you opt for the built in media reader, you will be unable to use the express card as the media reader takes up that slot (I might be wrong, but I think the card reader is large enough that it takes up both slots, so u can't add anything anyway - but you should call pre-sales to answer that question).
Middle mouse button: The three buttons in the middle are used for the trackpoint/joystick mouse controller.  I think the middle button is configurable to do various things.  I personally hate the joystick and can only use the touchpad.  The lack of a touchpad was the only reason I did not stick to the smaller 12.1" X line of laptops, which was really more in tune with my size requirements (too used to using the L400 sized machine).
Recovery Partition: This is a cheap way for manufacturers to make it easy for people to recover their systems in case of crash - without the need for any documentation or disc media.  However, it makes it hard for people like me who only use machines after a clean format and customized install of Windows.  This partition is about 10GB and can be erased with special disk format or partition tools.  Windows itself cannot read or delete this partition.  With the minimum size of the hard drives available, this should not be an excessive space killer for most people.  I personally need only 7GB total for OS and apps.  The remaining data I work with is actually streamed from a 500GB gigabit NAS.  I might switch to a 32GB solid state disk one of these days when their performance comes more in par or exceeds traditional drives.
Recovery CD: You can create your own from the recovery partition since Lenovo does not provide any.
4th USB: I only use 1 or 2 as well.  1 for an external micro mouse (I love my touchpad, but it's just hard to use with Photoshop or CAD apps) and a second for a USB memory key.  My other devices i.e., scanner, external mouse, keyboard, are plugged in on my desktop through a USB hub that goes to a single port on my docking station.  So yes, your docking station will probably remove the need for more than 2 ports.  Although, I do find it odd there are only 3 ports... such an odd number.
Screen Size: I personally wish I could have gotten the X series of laptops but the 14.1 was the only other mobile solution.  For the larger screen size, docking station to my 24" Dell 2405FP.  The compact nature of the T series makes it pretty thin and compact though... it was not too much bigger than my L400 - at least, not uncomfortably bigger.
But yeah, I think if you make the switch, you'll be getting yourself a solid machine that will keep u going for years.  The Latitude line of Dell's were really good, but overall, I feel that the nature of Dell's manufacturing process is making it too "cookie cutter" and reducing its overall quality level.  Their earlier lines were awesome, like the D lines you mentioned.  But unless you get the ATG line, you just won't get the same level of quality they used to offer (in addition, the ATG line is wickedly too expensive - I'd rather get a Durabook for military grade spec at a fraction of the price).
    Anyway, have fun shopping! :-)
And moderators or employees of Lenovo, don't you guys get referral bonuses for giving your employee discount code to friends and family?  *wink*

  • Weird Apple Universal Dock Problems

I have had my Apple Universal Dock for about a year and a half.  I have many problems with it now.  I have an iPhone 3GS and I use my dock to charge it every night.  I have the apple remote (white).
    Problems:
    1.Will not work with remote
2.Says iPhone is Not Supported With This Accessory
3.Cannot play music through iPhone speakers
4.Cannot use Audio audio out port
The only thing I can use this dock for is to charge my iPhone.  I paid $50 for this and I could of just got the iphone 3G dock and saved $30.  Has anybody else had these problems?  Will Apple replace it even though I have had it for over a year?  I have had these problems for a long time, but thought it was just my phone.  I have 3 of these docks in my house and yesterday I plugged my phone into one of them and all of the problems I had with my dock had not been there.  I guess i just have a lemon?  If anybody else has had this experience, please let me know.  I do not want to spend another $50 on a new dock.  Any replies would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Question about product variable - is BC the right choice for me?

I have a criteria that must be met for my ecommerce solution for a new business. The customer has a product that has a variable length, and would like the price to reflect the options that are offered. For example: the produced panels are 30" wide, but the customer can choose the length of each panel. Another option may be sq. ft. for material...
How can I achieve this with Business Catalyst? Is there an easy way?
    Thank you for your time!!!

    Look into Product Attributes.
You can preset various sizes and change the price based on the size. See this KB Article.
I would recommend creating a trial site, use a template, then try Product Attributes and see if it does all of what you need.
If you believe it would work then you can go from there.
