Cache_version vs. metafile versions

HI,
after spending about two days with reading about versioning of applets I found that I can tell the plugin in the HTML Object-Tag with the parameter cache_version with version of the applet-archive I need to load from cache (if it is there) or from the website.
The plugin understands my version and displays it in its cache-tab, but it loads same the archive regardless with version I specify in the manifest.mf file.
I guess I do not fill the right parameter in the manifest, but I didnot find any hint with version is corresponding to the plugin's version.
I hope anybody out has already found a solution.

Java-plugin does not support the version specified in manifest. The only way to force the plugin to down load cached jar is to increase the version that you specify in cache_version param of your page.

We are getting an error message whenever we are accessing out online Java program. Everything works fine with earlier version of JRE 1.5; 1.4 etc. but with the new installation of 1.6.0 or 1.6_01 we are getting the new error message. FYI... The problem is with web page that hosts the Applet. The the "cache_archive" element lets the page author specify which JAR files to store in local cache. The "cache_version" specifies the version number of each of those JAR files listed in the "cache_archive" element. If the page author put 4 JAR files in the "cache_archive" element, but only put 3 versions in the "cache_version" element, then you will get this error message. You should report the error to the page author.

Ever since I've installed the latest version of Firefox onto my laptop, I've been getting a message error that reads, "unable to update files in cache," repeatedly. I was wondering if this is a settings issue?

Hello everybody, good news: after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.5 I've been able to run the installer and all went fine.
Mountain Lion allows user to force execution through the context-menu (CTRL-click) Open command and it does work, just that simple.
So my advice is: if you want to install or re-install Flash Builder 4.6 on a Mac with Lion installed, upgrade to Mountain Lion or better to avoid problems.
Apple introduced some (not all) Gatekeeper functionalities in 10.7.3 and following, but apparently you need a full-fledged 10.8 to have also what you need to circumvent a Revoked Certificate error.
Since usually OS X has auto updating active, if you are running Lion you end up with 10.7.5 and won't install FB46. If you manage somehow to hold 10.7.2 I suppose you should be able to install FB46, sincerely I didn't check it out. Anyway it's simpler and safer to move on to 10.8.x.

Jar file downloaded still the old version

If I update a new jar file in the web server, The jar file being downloaded by a remote pc is still the old jar file even if the java plugin cache has been deleted. In my source below, I have already specified applet option as plugin.

thats what I did and it updated my video card driver so windows stopped crashing

Should I use cache_version if we rename jars with each release?

We started renaming our jars with each release to avoid caching problems on the browser side which we were having. Before, we were using the cache_version to handle caching. This shouldnt be needed anymore since we will only have one release per jar name. But, I realized that without cache_archive the plugin will always check the server for newer versions at applet load time which would slow it down a little. Should I use cache_archive even though we will never have more than one version of each jar?

Sorry for reply late, forum seems to be unavailable recently. We install OGG on principal database, which has a mirror database.
We do no use any MSSSQL replication, so it's why I am asking about the MANAGESECONDARYTRUNCATIONPOINT.
I know OGG can manage truncation point if we do not use MSSQL replication, otherwise OGG should use
NOMANAGESECONDARYTRUNCATIONPOINT option to let MSSQL manage it. However, it currently
confuse us by that why OGG still warns us even if we do not use any replications(MSSQL or third-party)?

Trouble downloading the free trial of Adobe Acrobat DC! "unable to load metafile"

Currently, I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed. When I select "download", the Adobe Acrobat DC file is created in my downloads folder. However, when I choose to run the file, it first has me click continue if I'm aware that it will replace my current version of Adobe (so I click continue) but then the next thing pops up saying "unable to load metafile". Can't make it past this point. And I already downloaded Acrobat Reader DC in case that has anything to do with it. Please help!

Could you please uninstall Adobe Reader DC from your machine and download its offline installer from here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Now, try installing Adobe Acrobat DC again by running the executable file and check if the problem persists.

I am unable to install the latest version of Adobe

I keep getting an error stating: Unable to unzip metafile file. I have been trying to download to latest version of Adobe reader / flash, but keep getting this error. When i try to open certain links in web pages, that are in PDF format, i get an error saying my plug-ins are out of date. But then i cannot update them. How can i get the latest version uploaded?

As far as updating your installation of Adobe Reader, please open the application and click on Help > Check for Updates and follow the instructions on the proceeding dialogs.

DeployJava.js update JAR versions

Hello,
I am using deployJava.js to deploy my applet. It works great and correctly caches the applet locally on the users machine.
However, when I want to update the applet server-side, it does not detect that the file has changed and the client does not get the new version.
the APPLET tag had a great feature where you could go:
<param name="cache_version" value="0.0.6.B">
and incrementing the value of this would force the client to re-download that JAR since it had been changed.
I have tried adding this parameter in the deployJava.js case but it has no effect.
Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently no one has reported this is a bug on the bug parade. I did that, for what it's worth. I am shocked that this has been allowed to remain open for two years.

HT5655 Feb 2013 Adobe Flash Player Upgrade Install Does not work - metafile issue

I tried uploading the Feb 2013 update without success. Adobe troubleshooting suggested uninstalling existing version of AFP - which I did - still get "Metafile Instalation failed" - now have NO AFP. Adobe says they are aware of the issue and working on it. Any ideas as to how to reupload my old AFP version??

I've been trying to fix this issue with Adobe for 5 days now and no one is coming back to me (tried the terminal cd solution and it doesn't work).
Luigi could you expand on where you were directed to find a solution? Running
sudo ./Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player
has only given me a "command no found" message.

Metafile error when I install flash player

I am very frustrated at this point. I was able to watch videos on my computer but not read pdf files. So I uninstalled my adobe programs and reinstalled. The reader worked fine but the flash player won't install. It says metafile error. I've tried the http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html site and i downloaded and installed the exe installer. It still am not able to see videos. I'm not that great with computers. Am I doing something wrong?

Re Photo Shop 3.0 version to another version ?

At present time I have photo shop 3.0 and have lost the registration number, and it is not available anymore by the company. So is there a newer adobe photoshop that I can use to obtain my pictures and use from now on?

Was it photoshop, photoshop elements, photoshop starter, photoshop lightroom, or photoshop album?
Your pictures should be located on your hard drive, so any program can access them. Elements, starter, lightroom and album uses a database. The catalog in those programs are thumbnails and point to the file on the hard drive. Any changes made are stored in the database and can be saved in the metafile of each image on the hard drive.
So if you did not save the metafiles, then the worst case senerio would be the edits are gone, but the pictures still exist.
At this point you have some choices, photoshop elements, photoshop lightroom, or photoshop. Elements and lightroom are avaiable as a standalone purchase. Lightroom and photoshop are avaiable as a subscription. Therefore with lightroom you have a choice between standalone or subscription.
With the subscription, you can get a single app (lightroom or photoshop), a photography subscription (lightroom and photoshop) or full suite subscription (this includes all the apps that are in the previous CS6 master suite + additional apps) The subscription is version CC not CS6 incase I confused you any.

Flashplayer V10.3.181.34 Metafile download failure

We have downloaded the above version, but the videos we try to play still say we have an older version and they will not play.
When we try to reinstall we get a metafile download failure.
We are running both W7 and XP SP3. ie8

how to make jar to reload based on jar file version...
Isee some thing like this

I figured that out. The <name> should be a file name --> <name>sample1.jar</name>
I found this error from log before I made the correction:
Read resource: JnlpResource[WAR Path: /app/sample1.jar versionId=1.1 name=sample1 lastModified=Thu Sep 28 11:29:52 EDT 2006] returnVersionId=1.1]
After:
Real resource returned: JnlpResource[WAR Path: /app/sample1.jar versionId=1.1 name=sample1.jar lastModified=Thu Sep 28 12:45:40 EDT 2006] returnVersionId=1.1]
For file resource, the name should be the physical file name.
