What are the capabilities of JMX

I am a student in the final year and i want to know what are the capabilities (what can i do with it) of JMX.
Some of my teachers are interested on this subject, but unfortunately this technology lacks massive documentation. Can you give me some examples of projects that can be created with JMX ? Maybe I can use JMX in this year project.

The following resources provide useful information regarding Java Management Extensions.
[JMX Technology Overview|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jmx/overview/JMXoverviewTOC.html]: Includes sections "What is JMX Technology?" and "Why Use JMX Technology?"
[Java Tutorial: JMX Trail|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jmx/index.html]
[What is JMX?|http://blogs.sun.com/jmxetc/entry/what_is_jmx]
[JMX Documentation|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jmx/index.html]
[Online JMX Resources|http://marxsoftware.blogspot.com/2008/03/online-jmx-resources.html]
JMX can be used for many things, but an obvious strength is the ability it provides for Java-based applications to be monitored and managed by software external to the application being monitored and managed.

  • What are the capabilities of video editing in Photoshop?

I only have Photoshop CS5 and would like to edit video footage I have of my college fashion show, my portion of which is about 3-4 minutes long.  One video I have is taken by a  hand held camera and I would like to somehow blur or crop out the distracting audience, which I know will be difficult because the camera is a little unsteady. My other footage is from the official DVD and is taken straight on from a steady camera. I want to splice the two videos together so you can see all angles of my designs. I think I will need to overlay a new soundtrack (just a song in my library) as well.  How much of this is possible in Photoshop, and for an advanced Photoshop user but a complete novice at anything video related, how difficult will this be to acheive? How time intensive? Before I delve into researching tutorials and online resourses, I really would like to know if it's even a feasable project. Many thanks!

I do not do video editing but I just took a look at cs6 video timeline. It looks like it is very easy to splice video clips together and add an additional audio track that would span the entire spliced video.  That left me with the question could you blur or delete your audience.  It also looks like that would also be easy.  I dropped the sample window windows media video clip onto CS6.  In the layers palette I converted the video clip to a smart object and made a selection around the outside to represent your audience, added a smart filter a gaussian blur and rendered an mp4. http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/Wildlife.mp4

  • What are the advantages of compressor and it it even necessary

what are the advantages of compressor and it it even necessary?

Necessary for some and not for others – probably a large majority – who can by with the presets avalaible in FCX.
The users who need Compressor are those who want to control the parameters of the encodes to get the best possible trade-off between file size and quality. Or those who want to do things like standards conversions, complex frame speed changes, better re-scaling capabilities, de-interlacing, re-interlacing, output formats beyond which are available in FCX, chapter markers for DVD and Blu-Ray authoring, batch conversions for multiple purposes through droplets, access to clusters for faster rendering.

  • What are the differences between Discoverer 9i and 10g?

    Hi!
Does Discoverer 9i Plus gives the functionality of creating 'multiple graphs' like in Discoverer 10g? What are the other differences, if there are any other prominent ones?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Aparna

    Hi
Well not really. Discoverer is an end user reporting tool, providing the ability to generate high end reports, typically with a chart and drillable table. BIP is targeted at the other end of the spectrum, where Oracle Reports sits. It has some disco like capabilities but its strengths lie in generating documents e.g. invoices, POs , letters, listing reports, etc. It can also generate electronic formats, EFT, EDI, XML, etc.
In its standalone flavor, it comes as a server component, managing users, report security, scheduling, real time reports, etc.
So, it overlaps a little with Disco, it overlaps far more with Oracle Reports. It the strategic operational reporting solution going forward, its bundled with BIEE. BIEE being the Oracle BI product going forward. I dont think you'll find Disco shipping with BIEE.

  • What are the most important functions you cannot bypass in acrobat?

I would like to know what are the most important functionalities that we can not bypass in Acrobat? What makes Acrobat more worthy than other PDF reader/editor?
Personally, I notice that Acrobat (adobe products in general) takes longtime to install or uninstall. I don't find a striking feautre in Acrobat compared with other software!
Worse, Acrobat doesn't support Multiple document interface! So, I don't know why I should pays for Adobe while other free PDF viewer/reader offer this great feature!
Adobe does like Microsoft was doing long time ago in ignoring people opinions! I don't understand why adobe persists not to include MDI (Multiple Document Interface) at least as optional feature?
    Thanks

The MDI issue is caused by following Windows User Interface Guidelines. Complain to Microsoft. As to what functionality is most important. The most important is creating problem free pdfs. The other things I find important are the form related capabilities, preflight, pdf optimizer and redaction.

  • What is XI ? What are the role of an XI Consultant ?

    Hi Everybody,
I am presently working as an ABAP Consultant since 3 years.Thinking for XI.
<b>Can anybody tell me about XI.
What are the role of an XI Consultant ?
Is it a good option for an ABAPer ?</b>
    <b>Reward is assured</b>
    <b>Thanks in advance</b>

    <b>What is SAP XI?</b>
SAP Exchange Infrastructure is SAP’s platform for process integration based on the exchange of XML messages.
    1. It provides a technical infrastructure for XML based message exchange in order to connect SAP components with each other as well as with non-SAP components.
    2. It delivers business process integration knowledge to the customer in the form of SAP pre-defined business scenarios.
    3. It provides an integrated tool set for building new business scenarios by defining and maintaining all integration relevant information. (“Shared collaboration knowledge”).
Before we take a closer look at how the Exchange Infrastructure will enter into the IT landscape of every SAP customer, let’s take a closer look at the capabilities as well as the strategic direction of XI. This particular module of Net Weaver is one of the most powerful and is undeniably the most critical. Its purpose is really three-fold:
    Connect:
XI has the ability to connect all applications regardless of whether it is an application
From a 3rd party or from SAP. The solution has pre-built connectivity to all SAP modules
Such as SAP CRM and utilizes the Adapter Framework to integrate 3rd Party solutions
such as Siebel, People Soft, Legacy systems, or AS/400s and Mainframes.
    Coordinate:
XI has the ability to define a path/workflow for each business transaction that is
Integrated. The system actively routes each message to ensure that it is properly
Delivered from the source to the target destination. Active monitoring allows
Administrators to manage document exchange on an exception basis.
    Communicate:
XI has the ability to translate files into any format whether an internal file format or any
Business to Business integration standard including but not limited to an XML format, an
EDI format, a marketplace, or a Web Service. Finally, there are multiple communication
Protocols included which allow the routing of a file over protocols such as s/FTP, http/s,
SOAP, ebMS, Value-Added Networks, or EDI INT (AS1, AS2).
    Understanding The SAP Exchange Infrastructure_
Now, you might be saying to yourself, we already have solutions that provide all of this
Functionality. True, most organizations have invested previously in an integration strategy, but what we see in over 90% of organizations is that they have multiple translators and communication brokers, which they are supporting on a daily basis. This is both a resource drain as well as a monetary drain. For example, it is not uncommon to see the following even in smaller organizations:
    • Multiple Point to Point connectivity: For example, R/3 connected to a 3rd party
Warehouse Management Solution via an internally developed adapter or with the SAP
    Business Connector
    • A 3rd party EAI Integration Broker to connect legacy mainframe systems to SAP and
    WMS
    • A 3rd party EDI translator to communicate messages
    • A 3rd party XML broker to communicate XML messages to marketplaces and non-EDI
    Trading partners
    • A communication server that focuses on sending messages via FTP, Value-Added
Networks and Internet protocols such as AS2 solution of choice for SAP end users
    Interface-
    <b>Role of XI consultant</b>
As a SAP XI Developer you will be required to : Gather requirements, develop specifications and technical documentation. Perform requirement analysis and high and low level design. Perform the coding, testing and integration mapping Interface with onsite / offshore project teams ,sometimes responsible for developing java applications based on clients requirement specifications, preparing the technical design document, creating prototypes, analyzing and identifying performance bottle-necks, providing technical and user documentation and training to client, providing relevant data to the Module Leader for status reports both.
<b>It's a good option to switch to XI</b>

  • What are the advantages of Using SAP ?

what are the advantages of SAP when compared to other technologies?
what are the basic advantages of SAP

SAP's R/3, introduced in 1992, is the most used ERP system in the world.
The R/3 software package is designed to allow businesses to effectively and efficiently operate a variety of business processes within a single integrated information system.
The software is customizable using SAP's proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. R/3 is scalable and highly suited for many types and sizes of organizations and runs on six different platforms.
SAPu2019s R/3 has been designed to be the best ERP system in the four areas of human resources, financial, supply chain management, and marketing. R/3 is also an international product, and meets the local fiscal, language, and tax requirements of most countries.
SAPu2019s R/3 is very versatile, as it will operate on six different platforms, including the recently added Microsoft NT.
The R/3 package includes several very attractive features like it has a three-tier client/server system. Providing three tiers offers scalability and easier adaptation to the specific needs of large companies and fast-growing companies.
SAPu2019s R/3 is available in 14 different languages (German, English, Spanish, etc.) and also incorporates multiple currency features that provide essential information processing capabilities for multinational corporations.
R/3u2019s modules are organized by the functional areas of financial, human resources, supply chain management, and marketing. While information is entered separately for each specific module, the modules are fully-integrated and provide real-time applications. This means that data entered into one module is immediately and automatically updated and reflected in all oft the functional areas.
R/3 is composed of a single, virtual file structure with no subsystems.
In addition, SAP has released u201CMySAP.comu201D which is software that provides for data interaction and processing connections with the Web.
Financial and managerial accounting tools in SAP R/3 are contained in the financial accounting (FI) and the controlling (CO) modules. The General Ledger function in the FI module provides a comprehensive record of all information needed for external financial reporting. The accounting data is complete and accurate because the SAP system fully integrates all business transactions that were entered from all the operational areas of a company. In addition to the FI and CO modules, the SAP system includes the Investment Management (IM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), and Human Resources (HR) modules.
Management accounting tools in SAP R/3 are cost center accounting, internal orders, product costing, and activity based costing, profitability analysis and profit center accounting.
SAP R/3u2019s accounting features are modeled on German approaches to accounting, and thus they are well-organized and very efficient in processing accounting information and providing accounting statements and financial reports.
As stated previously, R/3 offers multiple currency features and a three-tier system that is capable of meeting very high demands from the accounting system for either transaction processing or financial reporting.
SAP was the first to implement integrated treasury capabilities. This attractive feature allows a corporate treasury department to function as an in-house bank by automating the control of cash flow, investment trades, and portfolio management.
R/3 provides check writing capability in its Accounts Receivable component which very few other programs offer.
Additionally, there is equal access to all data in the system. This means that personnel can access financial data directly from a computer screen rather than physically meet with the treasurer, controller, or some other similar person. In other words, R/3 offers real-time, immediately updated reporting.
R/3 also provides for a "single data entry point" where the data entered from any location is instantly sent to all other appropriate modules in the ERP system.
The accounts payable component of SAP R/3 contains four types of transaction blocks namely:
    ● The audit block● The receiving block● The vendor block● A manual block
These blocks make it much less likely that improper payments will occur.
SAP R/3 is organized with the concept that a business operates as a series of processes, which means that the company implementing R/3 may have to change and reorganize itself to properly fit with R/3 and use it effectively.

  • DNFS and ZFS Storage Appliance: What are the benefits and drawbacks

    Hello All:
I have a client who has a 4TB database and wants to easily make clones for their DEV environment. The conventional methods (RMAN duplicate) are taking too long because of the size of the db. Looking into dNFS as an alternative standalone and looking into the ZFS storage appliance as well. What are the benefits of just dNFS being configured alone? I'm sure you can clone easily based on the copy-on-write capabilities but weighing the dNFS option alone (no additional costs) vs using ZFS Storage Appliance (which used dNFS as its protocol) but costs money. Your thoughts?

    Dear Kirkladb,
as far as I understand your question you like to know the road blocks for usage of dNFS in combination with a ZFS Storage Appliance.
First I like to mention that dNFS is no feature on the appliance and the dNFS traffic is perceived as regular NFS traffic, so there is currently no feature which needs extra licenses on the ZFS Storage Appliance if you run dNFS on your client; dNFS is client driven and requires software on the client. Second the use of dNFS does not exclude to have snapshots or clones on the appliance, although cloning requires a license to be bought.
As mentioned by Nitin the appliance offers many features, some are based on ZFS, some are coming for the underlying OS and some coming form additional software. You seem to be interested in NFS, this is I guess mainly related to NFSv3 and NFSv4. The appliance will see dNFS from the clients as regular incoming NFS requests, means client side makes the difference and therefore it is important to have dNFS and maybe Infiniband drivers at a current level.
To get a copy of your production Database you could go different ways, the appliance offers to create a snapshot (free of charge) which is read-only and to create a clone (additional costs) on top of the snapshot. You have mentioned RMAN, as additional method, Snap Management Utility (Clone License) will also help here and maybe DataGuard. I am sure there are some additional ways not listed.
The point I wanted to make is that Cloning on ZFS-SA abd NFS are different are topics.
    Best Regards
    Peter

  • What are the features of RMAN

What are the features of RMAN

Then, by entering google.com, type "rman features" and you'll face tons of documents
    Or refer to documentation:
Using RMAN gives you access to several data backup and recovery techniques and features not available at all with user-managed backup and recovery. The most noteworthy are:
Incremental backups, which provide more compact backups (storing only changed blocks) and faster datafile media recovery (reducing the need to apply redo during datafile media recovery)
Block media recovery, in which a datafile with only a small number of corrupt data blocks can be repaired without being taken offline or restored from backup
Unused block compression, where RMAN can in some cases skip unused datafile blocks during backups
Binary compression, which uses a compression mechanism integrated into the Oracle database server to reduce the size of backups
Encrypted backups, which uses encryption capabilities integrated into the Oracle database to store backups in an encrypted format

  • What are the difference between TopLink and TopLink Essentials...?

What are the difference between TopLink, TopLink Essentials, EclipseLink and TopLink Essentials-GlassFish?
What is the difference of their functions?
Edited by: qkc on Nov 21, 2009 10:52 AM

Difference between TopLink and ToPLink Essentials:
TopLink Essentials are the reference implementation (RI) of JPA, is an open source effort that is licensed under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) v1.0. It can be freely downloaded and used under the terms of this license agreement. This means, you can only use it for the management of persistence and orm with Java EE and Java SE. The binary distribution of TopLink consist of 2 jars:
    * toplink-essentials-agent.jar: contains Java Persistence API; XML Schemas and TopLink essentials implementation
    * toplink-essentials.jar: contains java agent class requires in a standolane Java SE application
In addition to TopLink Essentials that makes the JPA implementation alive, Oracle offers its Oracle TopLink product (10.1.3) that contains an earlier preview binary of JPA and also offers developers additional object-relational capabilities, object-XML mapping (JAXB), non-relational mapping using Java 2.0 Connector Architecture (JCA).

  • I want to create a new customized screen layout for responsive HTML5  output. I don't want to use the ones present in the gallery. What are the steps to do so?

I don't wish to use the ones already present in the gallery. They do not meet my requirements. Therefore, I want to create/design my own screen layout for the responsive HTML5 output. Please let me know the steps to do so. How to create a SLZ file, what is the code that I need to write. What are the components that I need to create to have a complete screen layout to be used in a responsive HTML5 output.

That would require inline formatting and I doubt that is an option.
If I am following you, the header area is full width of the screen so I cannot see how it can be broader, Perhaps you mean deeper? A screenshot might help here. The change would be made in the layout.css file.
That would be a change in the layout.css.
I suspect that too is controlled by the layout.css.
To make the changes you would have to go into the layout.css and modify that. As you will see, it is a very complex CSS and that is why I said creating you own layout is not easy. Hopefully when Willam is available again, he may be able to give you some more specific information.
I think Willam will confirm that if you cannot read the existing CSS to make those changes, then creating your own skin would be beyond your capabilities. Please do not take any offence there, I am simply emphasising how complex a task it is to create a skin from scratch. It's not one I would take on.

  • What are the pro alternatives to Compressor?

I've been compressing a lot of material recently, mostly shot on DVCPRO HD and edited on FCP. What's been happening is that some - but surprisingly not all dissolves - are breaking up into pixels or rather blocks of pixels. The problem, as I've recently found out, has been documented here so I won't waste anyone's time agonizing over it. I'll just say that using Compression Master, Sorenson Squeeze and bitVice produced artifacts free files right off the bat.
What's infuriating about the Compressor is that every time I try to test a short piece from the middle of the sequence, it compresses fine but then when the whole 20 min sequence is compressed the problem comes back.
I've tried CBR, closed GOP, IP structure etc as suggested in one of the posts and it did get rid of the pixelation but I'm still not happy with the results. The picture looks a bit soft and washed out. Shockingly comparable to a well compressed random, internet downloaded DivX file that I can play on the same player. Is it the Compressor, DVDSP or the true nature of the DVCPRO HD format showing its ugly face?
What are the professional MPEG encoders that could save me all that headache? I'd rather pay good money and finally get it done right than spend my time beta testing software that is clearly not ready for the prime time.
