• Audio/MIDI Interface Compatibility with Logic Pro 7.2

Hello,
Is/are there a recommended audio/midi interface(s) that will work without audio/midi timing glitches with Logic Pro 7.2? Currently, I am using Pro Tools LE v7.1, along with the DIGI002 Rack. That combination works very well, with no glitches whatsover. The possibility of using Logic Pro 7.2 raises the question of what would be a compatible interface. I don't think the DIGI002 Rack has the necessary drivers, although I may be mistaken. However, there must be an interface that works well with Logic Pro 7.2.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

iMac Intel Dual Core Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hello,
I went to the Metric Halo Web site and was not able to find the interface that you may have been referring to. It looks like the Mobile I/O may be the correct one, however, that interface is much more than I would want to spend (http://www.mhlabs.com/metric_halo/products/mio/)
The price seems to be @ $1200. Anyway, I am somewhat confused regarding the Metric Halo.
Any additional advice/help would be appreciated.

• Audio/midi interface compatibility with Logic Express Mac osx 10.6.5

hi all, I'm looking for a compatible audio/midi interface to use with the latest mac os. I recently purchased a Ediroll UA25 but was unable to get it working . I installed the latest drivers from the Roland site but when plugged in it just wasn't being recognised. I sent it back and got a full refund but now I am insure if the Ediroll was faulty or if it wasn't compatible with os 10.6.5. I am now in the process of looking to purchase another interface but am looking for help from you guys.
Thanks in advance,
kiev

Hi,
just out of curiousity: did you use the UA-25 or the UA-25EX? I know the 25EX has a driver switch on it's back where you can enable a standard driver which should be compatible to OS X without an additional driver.
However, i didn't find another interface including a compressor except for the Yamaha Audiogram 6, if you need this feature.
If you don't need it, buy a MOTU, preferably with firewire, or a Presonus. If you want quality, maybe an Apogee Duet. I myself - due to shortage of funds - still use either my Tascam Fireone or my Alesis I/O 2. The Alesis sounds nice for it's price, but i won't buy any of these lower end interfaces anymore. You get what you pay for. I also used the Edirol UA-25EX for a time, but this was before snow leopard, so i can't really say "Yes or No", but it was definitely a very good interface compared to it's price. I won't recommend M-Audio, however, but others like it.

• Logitech Pro 4000 not working with new Imac 24"

Just migrated from a G4 to the new Imac 24"
Cannot get the Logitech Pro 4000 to work with new mac.
Contacted Logitech and they said
"please note that the QuickCam Pro 4000 currently only supports up to Mac OS X 10.2.6"
However, the cam DID work ,even under 10.4.8 with the old G4...
Any ideas people..
Thanks!

Your nwe iMac is Intel based, which is why the old driver failed/ You could try the driver from IOXperts. They do not mention Intel support, but they do list your camera, and have a free trial.

• External DVI monitor not working with new iMac 27"

I recently purchases a 27" iMac and i'm trying to get it working with a 3rd party DVI external monitor. I got the Apple mini display port (thunderbolt) to DVI adapter and connected everything via a new DVI-D cable. The iMac detects there is a monitor and even shows the display as it should.. however, the monitor has a large amount of static/snow/noise (red coloured), so much so that the monitor is unusable. There is also a considerable amount of flickering.
The monitor works fine when connected to a Mac Mini with the Mini DVI - DVI adapter, (old set up) so I know the monitor's connection is not faulty.
Also, the monitor connects fine to the iMac when using a mini display - VGA adapter. The problem really seems to be with the combonation of DVI cable and adapter.
Has anyone had any experiences with DVI monitors connected to new iMacs via the thunderbolt port?
(System: iMac 27" 2011, 3.4GHz i7, 16GB RAM, Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB. All system updates installed, running OSX 10.7.2)

I think that your assessment is right, the ATI must be on for DVI to work (so far I've only tested with an older T61p and the Quadro graphics are always running). Can't you set the machine so that when docked the ATI is used, but on battery the internal video is used? That would be what I would try.

• Lightroom not working with new iMac

I just got a new iMac and I imported everything from my old computer using time machine but now lightroom does not work at all. Does anybody know what has gone wrong? All that comes up when I open the program is a grey screen and it does not respond with anything I click, including selecting a catalog.

You need to actually install LR, not let Time Machine transfer it.
If you purchased the regular (non-CC) version of LR, then download the LR 5.3 update from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
If you have a PS+LR subscription, then click on the Lr icon after logging in at http://creative.adobe.com/products/ If CC thinks you have LR already installed, then you may need to install the www.adobe.com version, uninstall it, log out of CC, reboot, log back into CC, and then try downloading Lr from CC, again.

• Can't get old scanner to work with new iMAC

I have an old scanner, Epson Perfection 4870 Photo that I can't get my new iMAC to install in PSE6 like I've had in my older computers. I've installed all the software (plus I used my old laptop to transfer files/information when I initially started the new iMAC. When I go into PSE6 it is not under the import area that it used to be. Do I need to go manually drag the file in the hard drive to another folder? Thank you.

Most likely the problem is with the driver. I have the same scanner at work and this is what I had to do to get it to work. Because you are running PSE6 which is a Universal Application on an Intel Mac, in order for the plugin to load within PSE it must also be a Universal plugin which it's not. Epson claims these drivers that were released in 2006 are Intel and 10.5 compatible. What you have to do to get it to work is Open up Epson Scan Utility in order to scan because the Scan Utility will run as a PPC Application. You can call Epson to confirm but if they try and tell you how to run PSE in Rosetta that is not a good solution.

• Can't get HP DeskJet 3940 to work with new iMac

I have an iBook G4 and a brand new iMac sitting next to each other. The iBook has no difficulty seeing and printing to an HP DeskJet 3940 printer in another room via an Aiport Express module. When I turn Airport OFF on the iBook and turn it ON on the iMac, the same printer is visible to the iMac but when I go to Add it into Bonjour I get an "error -9672 Unable to connect to printer" message. The new Intel iMac apparently comes with knowledge of the HP 3000 series but to no avail. So I downloaded and reinstalled all "universal" software and drivers available from HP online regarding this printer and the same error message occurs. I Spotlighted '-9672' and it pointed to a header file in Xcode that defined the error as an XML problem but I'm not sure if it relates to my problem or is merely coincidental. I tried using the Airport Express module with someone else's Epson printer and it worked fine so that module is not the problem. I hate when this sort of thing happens...

According to the list of printer drivers included with Mac OS X Tiger Intel there were drivers included for two models of the HP DJ 3940 printer. It was version 3.3, but I see that is also what you probably downloaded and installed from the HP website, so no issue there.
These instructions from Mac Help in the Finder Help menu are what you have tried? Have you tried connecting the printer directly to you new iMac first and solving any direct printing problems before printing through your LAN with the AP Express?
Connecting a USB printer to an AirPort base station
If you have an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express base station, you can share a USB printer with other computers on your network, whether they connect to the network wirelessly or with a cable. The other computers must use Mac OS X v10.2.3 or later.
Follow the directions that came with your printer to set it up and install the necessary software on your computer.
Connect the printer to the USB port on your computer, and then print a test page. If you need help, click the link below.
Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort base station.
If you're setting up an AirPort Express for the first time, connect the printer to the >AirPort Express before setting up the base station.
Open a document to print, and then choose File > Print.
In the Printer pop-up menu, choose Bonjour and then choose your printer.
If you don't find your printer, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu, and then click More Printers. Select your printer and then click Add.
When you select your printer in the More Printers dialog, Mac OS X finds the printer's driver and adds the printer to the Printer pop-up menu. If Mac OS X cannot find the printer driver, "Driver not Installed" or "Gimp-print" appears in the model pop-up menu.
Usually, your computer can detect whether a printer has special accessories installed, such as additional paper trays, extra memory, or a duplex unit. If it can't, a dialog appears that lets you specify them. Make sure the settings in that dialog accurately reflect your printer's installed accessories so you can take full advantage of them.
You may not see error or status messages when using a printer connected to an AirPort base station. For example, you may not see messages like “Out of Paper” or “Printer Busy."
To use the printer utilities that came with your printer, check the status of ink cartridges, or set the printer's resolution, disconnect the printer's USB cable from the AirPort base station and connect it to your computer.

• Will my Unitor8 non USB Midi Interface work with Logic Pro 8 (MacOSX 10.5.8

I just purchased one of these Unitor8 gizmos, but have no way of connecting it with my Mac due to the absence of the USB connection on the MIDI interface. My question is....can I use a RS422 mini-din 8pin serial >>>to USB adapter converter, and will the OS and Logic recognize it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
John Bennett

The problem is not the reliability of the adapter (they're just fine), but that the Midi driver doesn't look for such an adapter. It won't work. The only chance to get your interface to work is to buy one of the emagic interfaces that came with both USB and RS port and to chain them up.

• Will old custom 30 pin car interface work with new classic?

My faithful 60GB 2004 iPod Photo just went to hard drive heaven after 10 years of faithful service, while sitting in the car continuously in weather from -10 to 110 degrees. Thank you, Apple for all the tunes!!
I still have a custom 3rd party interface that was installed in my 2004 Toyota Camry and connected to the stereo/NAV system. This was back when these interfaces were still new pieces of tech - and I paid a few hundred dollars for the device and its installation.
This device powered the iPod Photo and fed its audio (and some control functions) to the stereo/NAV system.
The manufacturer name on the connector coming out of the hole in the dash drilled for it says "Peripheral."
So... ...I plan to keep the car a few more years and I need a new iPod.
I know some of the the pinouts on the 30 pin connector have changed over the years, and my question is if there's a reasonable chance this interface will power a new iPod Classic and play its audio feed correctly?
If it won't work, I'd prefer the added functionality of an 64GB iPod touch over the Classic (Apps, camera, just enough storage, etc.), even if I have to power it via a 12v power port and find another way to get sound into the car system.
But if it will work, I'd prefer to just be able to keep using the interface I have and buy a Classic, as I have my apps and a camera, etc. on my phone already.
Other details:
1. I haven't looked into getting sound into older cars without AUX inputs for years, and the last ways I remember were FM transmitters and cassette tape adapters that plugged into the headphone jack. So I don't know if there are other ways these days. And, no, the car does not have a cassette tape player.)
2. If the interface will transmit power and sound, the control functions are less important - as I usually controlled the iPod with its own controls. But I suppose there's a chance the interface could interfere with these??
Any comments or advice are much appreciated.

46 (and counting) views... ...and no opinions?? Somebody? Anybody....?? Oh well.... ...it is an obscure question.
Anyway, I did talk to Apple Care and they suggested I go to an independent Apple vendor with a used Classic in stock and see if they'll let me plug it in to check if it works, and that may be possible in my area. So will likely "try to try" that if I don't get any other input.....

• 1st Generation iPod (5GB) not working with new iMac

Hi,
i have the Problem, that my 1st generation iPod is not detected by my new imac (20'' 2,4 Ghz). When i plug in the firewire cable, nothing happens. DiscUtility sees no disc at all.
But when i plug in the iPod "behind" another Firewire disc (acting as a fw-hub), the iPod ist detected within a second, and everything works fine.
I just wanted to know if someone else is having this Problem, or if someone else has a working iPod 1.Gen on the new iMac.
Thanks
Joerg

Hi JvdL,
I am one with a 1st gen iPod (Windows, 10GB).
But I have no problems with it and I also don't have a last gen. iMac.
However, in the iPod Forum http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=151 and in the iTunes Forum http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=149&start=0#threads there are quite some threads with similar problems.
Sorry

• IPod no longer works with Older iMac (works with new iMac)

Hi all:
First off sorry about the cross post but I got no response to this question in the other forum. Hoping for help from this group. Thanks!!!!
I have an iMac Duo (20" 2.0Ghz) running 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.0.1 which recognizes my 5g (and my wife's 4g) no problem. However when I attach either of them to my G3 (G3 500 MHz) running 10.2.8 (iTunes 6.0.5) they are not recognized.
I believe that the 5G won't work because the G3 does not have USB 2. However, I do not understand why the 4G does not work.
The 4G worked with the G3 for about 2 years. I have not tried to attach it to the G3 since we bought new computers (iMac for me, MacBook Pro for her) until today. I wanted to use it to transfer some files from the G3 to the new iMac.
I have tried forcing the 4G into disk mode and connecting it to the G3 but that did not help (I tried this with the 5G also).
I am using a USB cable with the 5G and a firewire cable with the 4G.
According to software update all of the computers are 100% current.
Thanks for any and all help!
Gary

I'm no geek but I can say that my 5G video iPod works just fine with my B&W G3 (450Mhz processor), which I am pretty sure only has USB 1. My G3 is running iTunes 7 and OS 10.4.5. Updating may solve your problem.

• Isub not working with new imac

the help menu is telling me to make sure that the isub is plugged in, and then to make certain it is selected under sound preferences... the only problem is that the imac is not picking up that the usb is even plugged in- there is no isub option that comes up on the sound preferences.
the isub works fine on my older mac, but just is not being read on the new one. any guesses other than my old isub is obsolete with my new imac?
thanks
-pd

The iSub is sweet! It's the best sub I've ever had! There's no reason for it to NOT work with the new Macs. It's a bummer. I still have my iSub, maybe they'll start supporting it again someday.

• What remote controls will work with the iMac 27inch.

Okay I hung the new iMac on the wall in my kitchen. Used the apple adapter I have a little apple remote control that works the dvd player fine. Of course the wireless keyboard and the wireless mouse work fine. I have an elgato tuner because this iMac is my dvr/tv does anyone have a remote that will work the iMac as a dvd and work the elgato hybrid tuner. Just trying to make this simple. Thanks

iTunes itself, that is it's built-in remote speaker function, will work only with an Airport Express. There may be other wireless speakers that have their own drivers or transmitter; someone else here may be able to make a recommendation.

• What racing wheels will work with my iMac for F1:2013?

I'm trying to find a racing wheel that will work with my 1-year new iMac that doesn't cost >$200 that I can use with F1:2013.
I have an old USB Xtreme Racingwheel for PS3 & PC. The steering part works but none of the buttons or pedals work or will re-map inside the game.
I've looked at the RacingSimWay S1 racing wheel, but like everything else I find, it only lists Windows requirements.
Suggestions?

Hello,
Have you tried installing an emulator on your mac, configure your xtreme racing wheel and then running the game with it. Worked for me in a flight simulator for a joystick but in principle should work with the wheels too, maybe 'Joystick Mapper'?
Hope it helps
