What cable? ASA to 3750 trunk?

Hello,
I have a ASA 5520 and will need to create a trunk to a 3750 from the one of the ASA's gigabit ports, this will allow me to create sub-interfaces on the ASA and use multiple VLAN's on the switch.  For the trunk do I need to use a crossover or straight-through?  I know switch-toswitch is crossover due to what pins they send and receive on, but am not sure with the ASA.  To be honest I think on another setup I have used a straight-through and it has worked, but would just like to know.
Thanks.

Yes.

Auto-MDI/MDIX Feature
For RJ-45 interfaces on the ASA 5500 series adaptive security appliance, the default auto-negotiation setting also includes the Auto-MDI/MDIX feature. Auto-MDI/MDIX eliminates the need for crossover cabling by performing an internal crossover when a straight cable is detected during the auto-negotiation phase. Either the speed or duplex must be set to auto-negotiate to enable Auto-MDI/MDIX for the interface. If you explicitly set both the speed and duplex to a fixed value, thus disabling auto-negotiation for both settings, then Auto-MDI/MDIX is also disabled. For Gigabit Ethernet, when the speed and duplex are set to 1000 and full, then the interface always auto-negotiates; therefore Auto-MDI/MDIX is always enabled and you cannot disable it.

    Hi,
For many 17" (or 17.3") machines such as Envy 17, dv,  Pavilion 17 .... you can add a second HDD (my old loan dv7 has two HDD's and my current loan Envy 17 also has 2 HDD's). You would need the following kit:

  • EXACTLY what cable(s) do I need to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution?

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011 w/ Intel HD 3000/ 384Mb) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution. Specifically, what cable/connections do I need to display at this resolution? I cannot get the display to work using a "Thunderbolt to HDMI" or a "Thunderbolt to DVI" connector.  Note:  I used both older and newer (uni-directional) HDMI cables on the first config, and a Dual-link DVI cable on the second config.   Apple specs state this is possible ( support.apple.com/kb/SP619 ), but I am at a loss as to how this can be done.  Thanks in advance for the help!

You use a Mini DisplayPort to either HDMI or dual-link DVI adapter. If that component doesn't work, something's wrong with either the cable or something else in the connection.

What cable/adapter do I need to connect my MacBook Pro to a Sharp Aquos TV?
I want to watch videos on youtube or read articles on my laptop, and I want a cable/adapter that will hook up the Macbook to the TV and display the webpage that is on the laptop.

Of course it doesn't. But you can buy an adaptor from HDMI to the Mini-DisplayPort port on the computer.

Actually you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. It will carry both audio and video.
This one will work: Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support

  • What cable(s) do I need to connect my late 2011 MacBook Pro to the new VIZIO HDMI tv in my classroom?

I want to use the VIZIO large-screen TV mounted on the wall of my classroom to mirror the screen on my new MacBook Pro.
I am already mirroring my iPad 2 with GREAT results using AppleTV.  Using the HD Note Taker App is a dream.
Graphing calculator apps are brilliant, too.  ( I teach Precalculus and AP Calculus)
But now I need to be able to do new things that cannot be done on the iPad.  What cables and/or adaptors do I need so that the
flat-screen TV becomes a another monitor?

You need a MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable.  The MDP adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port.

When you first connect, it will default to "extended desktop mode".   To mirror, press CMD F1 or set mirror mode in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab

  • What cables do I need to connect MacBook Pro to the TV VGA port

    Nov 6, 2014 7:01 PM
    Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working.  I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies.  What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)?  And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
    Thanks-
    Sheri
    OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    Hey Sheri Lynn,
Thanks for the question. Our online store has a helpful tool that should guide you through the process of picking the best adapter for your MacBook model. You can check it out here:
Get help choosing Mac video adapters - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/mac/mac-accessories/cables/cable-chooser#!
If you are connecting via VGA you will need a separate audio cable if your TV supports it.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display

What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display to have two displays?

It depends on what type(s) of video input you have on your TV. If you've an open HDMI port on your TV, you can use a Thunderbolt (Mini DisplayPort) to HDMI adapter and it will carry the sound also. See -> here.
    Good luck,

If you're trying to transfer the music, from the Nano to the Air, you have to either download your purchased songs again in the purchased tab of iTunes or sync them to the Air, using iTunes on your computer.
Its been a few years since I've used a Nano, but IIRC, the only way to get the music on the device to begin with is by syncing with iTunes, so the songs have to be in your iTunes library.
