What card for G5 (PCI-X) for multiple screens?

Hi
I got a G5 (2x2GHz) which has to run 5 screens. I understand that this machine has PCI-X only, so no PCI-express possible.
Which cards would I get? Screens are VGA so DVI and VGA would be OK.
I don't need 3D-acceleration, just full-screen video from Max-MSP/Jitter. Am I likely to run into bad performance problems here?
Thanks a lot
Sascha

I was recommending the ATI Radeon 9200 Mac edition
<http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9200/radeon9200me/index.html>
but it is now missing from the ATI store web-page. ATI may have stopped selling them, but they should still be available.

  • Can we use the same credit card for multiple customers???

One of my clients has a requirement where they need to use the same Credit Card number for multiple customers. I have looked into the possibility of using the 'Alternate Payer' functionality but besides that is there any other way SAP can be tweaked to accept the same credit card on multiple customer accounts?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you may provide.
    SJ

I know SAP throws an error message which is why I was looking for a solution. I do have a work around. By pointing to an 'Alternate Payer' on the Payment Transactions tab on the customer master you can have a credit card on this alternate payer master record and use this payer on several other customers. All these customers will not have any credit card stored on their master records.
    Thanks for your response though.

Can I use the same Visa card for mine and also my partners apple account? Or is it one card can be linked to only one account?

You can use one card for a few account. I would believe it you attempted to use it on too many accounts (5+), it may cause some issues. But using the same card on two accounts is fine.

  • What cards for the g5 are compatible with the A1038 display?

The Genius Bar people believe the video card (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro) in my G5 is gone. Is there a compatibility chart somewhere to figure out what card I should
buy to replace it? It needs to drive a 20in three-legged cinema display (A1038)
which has an ADC connector (the kind that also powers the display).

    Hi-
There are a few ADC equipped cards available at We Love Macs:

The above page is as close to a compatibility chart as you'll get.

  • Outputting for multiple screens / projectors

    Hello everyone
I am preparing a video installation that I would like to project through 3 projectors onto three walls side by side. I would like to slide video clips from one wall onto the next or even stretch one video footage onto all 3 walls. (with the effect that subjects from one wall glide onto the next wall without the audience perceiving any dividing lines)
How to do that? Doe anybody have experience with such set-ups? I was thinking that maybe I could define my project settings with a video frame that would have the hight of a standard 4:3 screen but its length would be 3 times as long. I then could insert three separate footages: one to the right, one in the center, and one on the left. - DOES THIS IDEA WORK?
and if it works, can I then just burn a simple DVD (using DVD studio pro)? What would be the final result: 3 small projections or one big image stretching (as intended) over the area of 3 walls/projectors?
I hope I could explain myself clearly enough! If my text seems vague, then it is because I can't really predict where during the production I could encounter problems. And it's good to start a new project with the right decisions.
thanks for your suggestions and help,
    Hynek

I had the opportunity to talk to two video-artists and this is their solution:
    *Matrox TripleHead2Go* http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/
(The company offers different multiple screen solutions)
you then just edit your film on a 2160*576 Frame = 3*long normal Frame (720*576). Just make sure your pixel aspect ratio is the same as the imported video. I use a square pixel aspect ratio.
Nevertheless, thank you for your support!

  • Creating app for multiple screen sizes?

Hello.  I've recently created an .apk file from Flash Professional using AS3 (probably obvious in this forum, but I wanted to be clear).  I've been testing it on an ASUS Android tablet.  However, I realized that even if I get the app to look fine on this tablet, there are other tablets out there with many different sizes that could have the app look weird.
I've been searching Google for tips on this, but a lot of it doesn't make sense.  Is there a pretty easy way to get your app to 'read' the tablet's dimensions and scale itself to those dimensions?  I know I could make a different file for each screen size, but wouldn't that require putting several different app files in the app store?  That seems silly.  Any tips?

first, you should check the scaleMode property of the stage which will allow you to specify how your stage is sized to fit the display.
then, you can use the stage's stageWidth and stageHeight properties to size and position your display elements, if that's needed (because with showall you probably won't need to do any sizing/positioning).

  • Redeeming gift cards for multiple users with one Apple ID

I have one Apple ID and two devices for two of my children.  Is there a way to track their gift cards separately (by device and not all to the Apple ID)?

Create separate Apple ID's for everyone here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US
Must be verified email addresses. Then use those Apple ID's for iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, Find My Phone, etc. Everyone can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, & whoever "owns" the account using that Apple ID for everything.

  • Can you use one itunes gift card for multiple app stores?

if i had one gift card and used only $10 of it, can i give the balance to a friend?

No. To use the iTunes gift card you redeem the card, which puts the entire balance of the card as a credit for you to use on your account.

  • What app for multiple stops

I need a navigation that will handle hundreds of stops.  Is there something I can download?

I think the best ones are still Numbers, Pages, and Keynote from apple. I personally use them but im sure there are other apps that will do the same thing for a fraction of the price. I used to use "Quick Office Pro HD" before i switched the Numbers, Pages, and Keynotes.

  • How do I develop for multiple screen resolutions using Adobe Air

    Hi,
I'm looking at developing mobile apps using Adobe Air but there's something I'm not quite sure. Sorry if this is a newbie question or has been repeated but I have looked at tutorials, etc but just want to get a general idea on how to prepare the assets. Here are some of my questions:-
    1) If I want to develop for the iPhone non-retina and retina resolution, do I actually need to only write the code and layout the graphics in retina(960 x 640) stage size and it will automatically scale down for non-retina resolution?
    2) How do I cater for iPhone 5 resolution? Do I actually need to swap say the background images through code by detecting the resolution size it was in? or do I actually just leave the background image longer it exceeds the stage height so when it's iPhone 5 it will show everything?
    thanks for the help!

If you are talking about regular Flash work, and not your own code-layout application, then what happens depends on the scale mode of the stage. Typically, when doing code layout the stage is set to no_scale, and you have to do all the hard work yourself, calculating the size of things, and laying them out with ActionScript.
If it's more of a typical Flash graphical scene there are two other scale modes that make life easier for you.
The default scale mode is show_all. With that you will be certain to see all of the content of your original Flash stage, and if the screen is a wider ratio than your stage, the content that is off the sides of the stage will be revealed. See this app I made, that uses that technique:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/meet-heckerty-funny-interactive/id514220257?mt=8
It works well enough, I have enough extra background graphics to go out to a 16:9 screen, including iPhone 5. That particular stage is 1024x768, and it will scale all the way from iPad 3 Retina down to iPhone 3gs.
The other scale mode that is useful is no_border. In that mode you are certain to not have any black borders around the stage. It achieves that by cropping into either the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage. See these apps I made, that work that way:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/milkshake-mayhem/id556962979?mt=8
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/p.s.-snowflake-yourself/id571384475?mt=8
In both of those cases I have content that is correct for half way between the ratio limits of 16:9 and 4:3 (or 9:16 and 3:4 for the portrait case). When the app runs on your device, some amount of the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage is cropped. I have enough background content for that to be ok, and all of the important content is within the middle 14:9 or 9:14 area of the screen. The stage size for the landscape app is 1680xx1080, exactly 14:9. This approach is better than the show_all one, in that the user doesn't feel like they are seeing a lot of blank space, as can be the case when viewing a 4:3 stage on a 16:9 screen.
One last thing, even with either of those techniques the app won't fill the iPhone 5 screen. To get that to work you have to include a splash screen that is 640x1136, and name [email protected]. With that in place iOS knows to make your app use the full width or height of the iPhone 5.

  • Editing for multiple screens

    hello all,
for a 3 channel video installation i need to edit preferably in one sequence; i need to see and here how the 3 channels interact.
hoped to do this by making a 3*720 canvas with 3 layers of video, so a bit like after effects, but this doesn't work!!
so my question is this; how could i do this? i mean is there a way to trick fcp somehow? or a good plugin? i've seen one for this a couple of years ago.. but cannot find it anymore.
my other route would be to first scale all the files to 33.3% and before rendering remove all the scales... but somehow i cannot believe that this cannot be done more proper!
    thanks for all the tips!

thanks for the suggestions; looked into watchout, and looks very interesting but it's not what i'm looking for really.
i'm going to use 3 dvd players; if you buy them the same brand it is possible to fire the dvd's up almost in sync; will not be SPOT ON but works for what i'm going to do.
and i get the native video format idea, but what i've hoped for is that it would be possible to trick fcp somehow into a custom size with a, lets say, animation compression.. get all the material into the animation compression, get it on the timeline, cut&pase between middle left an right, and NOT need to render.
it seems to me this should be possible somehow; it works if you scale the the clips in the timeline to 33.3%..
afterwards copying the sequences 3 times, removing all the positioning data, and scaling back to 100% before render works but feels like a work around.
but guess this is my way to go!

  • What dimensions for big-screen presentation?

Almost everything I do is for presentations for either my employer or my church. I've experimented with WMV, MOV, and AVI but I'm still not sure what will look best that large. Since there are no rulers in FCE's Canvas or Viewer and I haven't found a place when creating a project to specify the dimensions like in Flash. The only time I'm "sort of" prompted for dimensions is when exporting from QuickTime Pro and those settings don't seem large enough but perhaps I'm mistaken. Is there a web site I could go to for such info?

FCE is a fixed resolution application, DV or HDV only.
How is the material you're presenting getting onto a screen? Computer playback? Projector? Playing back from a deck? That's the governing factor, that and the format you're working in. Video formats have fixed sizes unless they're being put on a web, where they can be any shape you want.
The higher resolution format you start with the better the end display will look. Shoot in DV and there's a limit to how large you can make the image before it becomes objectionable. Good shooting and good lighting will go a long, long way to making even DV material look good on a big screen.

  • More Info and Support for Multiple Screen Projections?

I've been reading all posts related to this topic because I'm composing a video for four wall monitors in a gallery setting and will be outputting to dvdr and use NTSC standard def. anamorphic video.
I wanted to email some of you who have posted helpful instructions in case I need more information, but there are no emails listed which I understand, but the posts about this issue are fairly old: from 2005 and 2006,....that is the posts I've read thus far.
I know that I will need a controller and know where to get one and four dvd players.
I'm not absolutely sure of my composition size, but I assume that I will need four times 720x480? this is where I'm a little confused at this point. And, I don't see why I really need separate sequences? What I've done is in my timeline I just have separate tracks and I would render each track to a movie using the same in and out points. So, I don't see why I need separate sequences as was advised here on the Forum.
Lastly, I'm wondering is if there is anyone here who has done video art installations, or any sort of video installations such as what I'm about to do then could I get in touch with that person if I need any technical advice or help? I promise it won't be often or too much, but it would help if I could have someone out there who knows more than I do at this point.
Thanks in advance for your response.
    Lucin

I've done this sort of thing a couple of times. Ideally you set up a master sequence
whose format is four times 720x480 (you didn't say how they are arranged),
make sure it's good, then slice it up. You can do that in Shake quite easily.
    I don't think it's possible in FCP.
When I've done it in FCP, I made four video tracks at 720x480, and enabled
one at a time for output rendering. This way you can at least make sure the
timing syncs up. If each track contains more that one layer, you should nest
them before assembling the four-track sequence. Another workaround with
FCP is to temporarily resize and move (in the motion tab for each nested track)
the tracks so you can see all four at once in one 720x480 frame. Verify
your edit is OK, then disable the resizing and render out one track at a time.
If you want the edges to match up perfectly, you have to find out how much
of the picture gets cut off by around the edges by the projector. If you express
this as a percentage, you can shrink the nested track by that amount just before
    you export.
The DVD controller I used had very specific requirements which I forget now:
stuff like first play vs. large black button. Make sure you can do tests
and that you have time to re-render and re-author your DVDs if necessary.
Once I consulted on an installation where the artist wanted perfect frame
synchronization between two projectors. In that case, I built a Jitter patch
that played two Quicktime files (far better quality than DVD, by the way!)
and drove the two video outputs of the computer. You could also use
Jitter to do the slicing and resizing of the master movie. To drive
four video outputs, you would need additional hardware, like the
Matrox TripleHead2Go. Another approach would be to have a second
computer, like a MacMini, which has two separate video outs.
You can sync Jitter patches on two machines using UDP.

  • One application for multiple screen sizes ??

    Hi All,
We are working on digital photo frame(DPF) project where we need to run DPF on 3 different resolutions, i.e., 800x480, 1024x600 and 1024x768. Is it possible to maintain only one .fla file for all resolutions? How can we go for it? We will be publishing it for flashlite 3 and using AS2. The application runs on a processor of 800MHz.... and total available memory is 128MB... Please suggest which method would be good to follow..i mean vector or bitmap?.. share the links if available....
    Thanks,
    Manjunath

For this scenario you have to evaluate which things are static on stage and which are moving you can according use bitmap and vector.
This is the common question people ask while doing development.
You can set movieclip property to cacheAsBitmap by doing this your movieclip will render like bitmap you can check this in flash help files also
