What event to catch?

hi all,
I have 3 user defined fields on my form. Let's call them A, B, C. Now, A can be 1 or 2. If A=1 than I need to disable (oItem.Enabled=false) controls B,C once form has been loaded before user can make any change to B or C . If A=2 than all controls are avalaible. What would be most efficient way of implementing this? tried using et_FORM_LOAD ,et_FORM_ACTIVATE ,et_GOT_FOCUS events but solution becams awkward. Any one has solved similar problem?
thanks

if pval.itemuid = "A" and pval.itemchanged and pval.eventtype = et_VALIDATE then
    select case oform.items("A").specific.selected.value 'it is combobox type item that A
    case 1:
        oform.items("B").Enabled = false
        oform.items("C").Enabled = false
    case 2:
        oform.items("B").Enabled = true
        oform.items("C").Enabled = true
    end select
end if

• What is the "catch" in writing Variants to a Binary file?

I'm saving "event" data associated with an experiment that LabVIEW is "controlling".  The data includes such things as the State of several State Machines, Messages to Queued Message Handlers, digital data from hardware (such as Button Pushes), etc.  My "Event Type" is a cluster with three components -- Event Time (an I32 representing ticks of a 1KHz clock), Event ID (an Enum with values such as State, Message, Digital In), and Event Data, a Variant that is the State Enum or Message String or Digital U8 port value.
I wrote a test routine in which I generated some known data of Event Type, wrote it to disk using Binary Writes, then read it back in to an Array of Events doing a "Read to End-of-File" Binary Read.
Somewhat to my surprise, the array of Events looked exactly correct, including the Variant data.
What is the "catch" in storing data this way?  I can see one obvious problem -- if I change the Event ID Enum, I could mis-identify the Events.  Are there things I need to worry about in handling the Variant data?
[I'm now thinking about hare-brained schemes to save the Event ID data in the file, itself, perhaps as a header of some sort.  And before you ask, I'm not quite ready to think about using TDMS ...]

Deleting and/or adding in the middle could mess things up.
Oh, yeah, I got a little burned with that one.  Good thing it was just something I was pracicing on.  Because changing stuff in the middle actually changes the values that the text is associated with, it can throw off all the the selections throughout your project!  I was dismayed to find all the typedef'd enum constants were changed to reflect the new text associated with the values.  For instance, if the value for "Init" was "1" and "Exit" was "2" and I added "Test" in between, "Test" would become "2" and "Exit" would move to "3" and all the contstants that had "Exit" selected before now showed "Test" as the selection!
So if you have to add something, add it to the end, no matter how unintuitive it makes the enum.  If you decide to delete something from the middle, don't delete it; replace it with something like <not used> to keep the values aligned with the text.  It may look funky on the enum, but it will save you lots of heartache.
Is there a better way to do this?

• What event fires when a captivate ends?

Hello,
I'm a web app developer and I'm working with Captivate. I'm not a captivate designer myself, just a programmer, so I don't know the first thing about Captivate (though I'm working with someone who does). I'm wonder if there's an event that fires when the captivate is done--that is, when the user clicks on the "submit" button on the last slide after which there is nothing more for the captivate to do.
My friend the Captivate designer says the submit button is wired up to an event handler in the CPM.js file. The script is named "assessment_Pass" and we've located the event handler in CPM.js. However, I can't work with this. I can't manually manipulate minimized javascript that Captivate generates, especially when we've got hundreds of captivate files and keep getting updated. I need to work in the javascript in my Visual Studios project. If I could know what event fires (if an event fires) when the captivate is done, I can then wire it up to a javascript event handler in my development environment.
I found this list of Captivate events (they're actually for the Captivate API Interface, which I'd prefer to work with, but any event will do), but none of the one's I tried seem to fire.
Any help is much appreciated.
Events are exposed only for interactive objects (buttons, button smartshapes, etc.) and ON_SLIDE_ENTER and ON_SLIDE_EXIT (the latter of which actually fires on the first frame of the *following* slide, unless it's been fixed in Cp8).
Well, it's a submit button on the captivate that's supposed to fire the event. Is that an interactive object?
Maybe if you explained what you are trying to accomplish I could point you in the right direction. Maybe you could use the CPAPI_MOVIESTOP or CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED events and check if on the last slide.
I would like to know when the captivate ends (i.e. when the user has gone through all the slides and has clicked the submit button) and to do some processing in javascript afterwards (essentially, calculate the user's score and figure out whether they passed or failed).
I'm trying the CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED event on a captivate variable called "result". My friend the Captivate designer says that when the user clicks the last submit button, a script is run to change the value of this variable. When it changes, this event should be fired and I should be able to catch it, no?
I'm doing it like this:
_captivateWindow.cpAPIEventEmitter.addEventListener("CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED", "result", ResultChanged);
var ResultChanged = function()
alert("hello");
but I'm not getting my hello message.
I will try the timer idea that andreleal suggested and get back to you.

• What events change the Created field in, finder, get info

On my laptop, in finder, in the get info screen there are 2 fields the Created Date and Modified Date fields.
I was looking at these fields for an app that I use on my iPhone, it was listed in finder, so I clicked the get info option.
The created date and modified date were 10/16 both the same.
I have not used this app in a long time, my question is this.
What event changes the created field?  If the app was downloaded on the Iphone will the created field get updated in finder?
or if it was an update on itunes, would that change the created date in finder?
Does the created date mean that the app was downloaded and installed on that date?

Thank you so much.  That works just fine.  However, I also just discovered something.  Evidently, at least some of the fields in list view are editable.  By adding Grouping to the columns shown and clicking on the empty field, I was actually able to type whatever I needed into the field.
I have not yet tried it with other fields, but will do so to see if it works for all fields in the list view.

• How can I find what Event a photo is in when that photo is found via Faces?

I've stumbled upon a photo via the Faces category. I do not know what Event this photo exists in, but I'd like to know (this same issue can occur with a photo found via Places of course too). How do I find out what Event this photo exists in? Of course I can pull the date or title data from the photo and then search for that data and visually find the photo from the search results, but I would assume there would be a much much easier method.
None of the information data seems to contain any event data. I would think each photo would contain information as to what Event it currently resides in.

Wait until iPhoto is done scanning for new images in the ".. might also be in the photos below" section, then right click (or Option-Click if your mouse has no right button) on the image, and in the last group of the menu that pops up should be an item "Show Event". While it's still scanning for more faces, the "Show Event" menu item isn't shown yet.

Hi Everyone,
I have a page that is displayed using

So when this is done on the CompleteAuditWindow page

What event (if any) is fired on the caller page??
in essence, I need to know when this page become the active page on the stack.

• What event will be triggered by check button on ALV?

Hi,
What event will be triggered by the standard check button on ALV? ON_DATA_CHECK is only triggered by a change in an editable field on ALV, so if no change were made, ON_DATA_CHECK wouldn't be triggered. I also tried events for before and after standard function but neither were triggered. How can I use the standard check function?
Regards,
ts

Hi ts,
The event ON_DATA_CHECK would trigger only if the content on alv is dirtly i.e. user modified something.
If there are no changes done for the contents, whats your requirement to use check button?
You can create a custom alv toolbar button and use event ON_FUNCTION on click of tool bar button.
Regards,
Rama

• Locating what event a photo is in ...

I can't for the life of me figure this out, but here's my issue:
Due to a software glitch over a year ago, i have about 2000 photos that all have the date 5/22/05 for their date. I've been slowly trying to correct them, so I created a smart album that has all the images from that date in it. This works well, and I can easily change the date on the spot as I find them.
My issue is when I want to delete an image, or go to the event that all the photo is in, I can't. The delete option is grayed out anywhere but in the event, but I can't find a way for iPhoto to tell me what event a picture is in. Am I missing some hidden option or something that would tell me this? It seems pretty basic, and I thought Aperture could do it (I haven't used Aperture since 1.5 was first released, so I could be mistaken)

Tom:
Create a regular album and call it Delete photo. Drag those photos you want to delete into that regular album. Go to that album, select the photos and type CommandOptionDelete. That will move those photos to the iPhoto Trash where you can empty it.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• What Event is Triggered When a Title Window is Shown?

I am creating the Title Window Component once, and then
showing it with PopUpManager.addPopUp, and hiding it with
PopUpManager.removePopUp. I need to run some logic each time the
PopUp is shown. However, I can't figure out what Event is triggered
when the TitleWindow is "opened". The window is there, it's just
not being displayed. This make me think that "show" would be
triggered, but it is not. I also tried "add", but this threw a RTE.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Since I couldn't find an Event to trigger, I am instead using
an override of protected function commitProperties() to run my
logic.

• What event tells me when any data changes in a mx:datagrid?

I have a mx:datagrid that I need to have an event tell me when anything at all changes in the datagrid. The datagrid can be empty and as such may not have a dataprovider (=null) some of the time. I have looked at a variety of events but none seem to do what i want - can anyone suggest what event i should be listening for please?
many thanks,
Mark.

We have not formalized the concept of nested collections in Flex.  However,
let me amend my recommendation a bit.
Typically in a nested collection, the objects in the top-level collection
are not just collections but an object with some other reference data and
then a collection like:
        public class FamilyTreeItem
            public var name:String;
            public var children:ArrayCollection;
The top-level collection is listening for propertyChange events.  Typically,
as a data item gets modified, a propertyChange event is dispatched.  If the
data items do not dispatch propertyChange events, then the itemUpdated()
method is used.  Either way, the result is a COLLECTION_CHANGE event from
the top-level collection.
When you have a nested ArrayCollection, while that sub-ArrayCollection is
dispatching COLLECTION_CHANGE, nobody is listening for it at the top-level.
You can dispatch it yourself, or you can call itemUpdated() on the top-level
or dispatch a propertyChange.
The latter will be the most work, but most general.  Code in FamilyTreeItem
would attach a listener to the collection for COLLECTION_CHANGE and then
dispatch a propertyChange as appropriate.

• What event is called when the handle next to a tree node is clicked

Hi,
I have a JTree...and the nodes in the tree have a little handle next to them. When i click on the handle, the children of that node, are shown below (as expected). However, what event occurs before the treeExpanded event is fired?? it seems like something happens just before it.
thanks

Post your code, I dont think any event except treeExpanded is fired.

• What event does LoginProcess generates?

I have a login portlet. After a user successfully logged in, a different jsp page--Home.jsp
need to be displayed in the login portlet.
I am using the same webflow as the sampleportal. When the security webflow reached
the LoginProcess Input Processor (com.bea.portal.appflow.processor.security.LoginProcessor),
it should connect to Home.jsp upon certain event.
The question is : What event does this LoginProcess IP generates upon success. I
tried "success" and "login". None worked.
Please Help or give any suggestions!
Ellen

I'm assuming you both are using Portal 4.0 and having trouble creating login
portlets. This is a known issue with 4.0 because of the way that it handles
login. There are ways to fix this, but they are not the cleanest in the
world.
Login in 4.0 uses the standard form based authentication from the J2EE spec.
To make a long story short, there is some magic that is happening in the
Security webflow to get this to work because this functionality is in the
weblogic server. Therefore, the LoginProcessor IP does not return a value.
It "escapes" the webflow so that weblogic server can do the login (roughly).
Then weblogic server uses the welcome-page entry in the web.xml file to
determine what page to redirect the user to upon successful login. Normally
this page is index.jsp, which places the user back into the webflow.
So, what you can do to make this work is to add an IP before the
LoginProcessor that adds something to the session that denotes the fact that
someone is attempting to login. Then you can check this in index.jsp and if
it exists, forward the request to a webflow URL that will cause the portlet
to display the home.jsp page or whatever.
You also have to be careful of the dreaded form-error-page parameter in the
web.xml file. If the user unsuccessfully logins in, weblogic server
redirects them to this page (which is not in the webflow obviously). Another
little trick you can do is edit the badlogin.jsp page (which is the default
form-error-page) so that it forwards the request to a webflow URL that
displays a bad login message in the login portlet.
Hope that helps.

Same Issue here, I opened a case and BEA said to add my process beforeLoginProcessor.
This is of little value because the flow goes thru this point if it avalid signon
or an invalid signon.
If there is a return value from LoginProcessor that identifies a validlogin that
you can hang a new pipe from it would make life very simple.

I have a login portlet. After a user successfully logged in, a different

need to be displayed in the login portlet.
I am using the same webflow as the sampleportal. When the security
webflow
reached
the LoginProcess Input Processor(com.bea.portal.appflow.processor.security.LoginProcessor),
it should connect to Home.jsp upon certain event.
The question is : What event does this LoginProcess IP generates uponsuccess.
I
tried "success" and "login". None worked.

• What event to use

I have a field that calculates a total. I'd like for the total if it's less than or equal to 250.00 to make a subform visible. The end user does not put their cursor in or leave the total field. What event should I use for my script?
Here's the script:
if (this.rawValue <= 250.00) {
        page1.superVisor.presence = "visible";
else {
        page1.superVisor.presence = "hidden";
Thanks,

This is a total field for a column of numbers. I'm using a FormCalc script in the Calculate event to provide the total in the field. It works fine.
Now I need to make a signature field visible if the total amount in the field is <- $250. I have a JavaScript that will make a subform visible.
I can't use the click or change events because the user does not put their cursor in or enter anything in the Total field.
I tried putting the JavaScript in the Validate event but it validates too many times than needed. That's why I posted originally.
Hope this helps.
