What generation do I have?

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a used MBA on eBay and want to verify which generation it is. The system profiler says MacBook Air 1,1. Is this first-generation, early 2008? The other technical specs seem to indicate this. Is there any other way to tell, such as a serial number? Thanks!

Is there a way to tell what generation ipod you have? I have a 2 GB ipod Nano and I want to buy a CD player that also plays music from your ipod, but it only supports 2nd generation and up.

There is a chart here, but if your Nano is plastic on front (white or black) and chrome on the back it is a 1st Generation, if it is all aluminum front and back and tall and thin it is a 2nd Generation, if it is aluminum on the front, chrome on the back, and sort of short and squatty it is a 3rd generation.

Secondly, depending on that info, I was wondering how much this iPad now costs (a hyperlink would be great) and third, what kind of keyboard (Zaragoza or Taurus) is compatible with it? I have a brookstone case with built in keyboard. I hate it. So skip that one.
( for what it's worth, after a while you get used to the on screen keyboard and don't really need the external.)

Is the back a silver mirror-like plate or is it a color? If it is a silver plating, it is a 1st gen. If it is 1 color all the way around, it is a 2nd gen.

I just "inherited" an Airport Extreme and I want to try it in my new place to see if it provides better performance than the cheezy G class WIFI built in to the router from my ISP.
I have the hardware but no documentation or software. It was years ago that I set this thing up the first time.

At the risk of looking really stupid what do I do now?

1st gen - It is white plastic and looks like a USB "thumb drive." It as a full USB connector on it, so you don't need a cable to connect it to the computer.
2nd gen - It is a clip-on design. It has separate switches for setting playback order (shuffle or in order) and for turning ON/OFF.
3rd gen - It is a narrow clip-on design, with no playback control buttons on the shuffle itself. You use the "remote control" buttons on the ear buds cord. It has the new VoiceOver feature.
4th gen - Apple went back to the 2nd gen style, except smaller. It has only one switch that is both for setting playback order (shuffle or in order) and turning ON/OFF, plus a small VoiceOver button (for using the VoiceOver feature introduced in 3rd gen)
