What happend to files from Today, Yesterday, Last Week

One of the things I liked in OS X Lion was the ability to sort through files chronologically for things created the same day, "yesterday" or the past week.
In the FInder window in Mountain Lion, I do noot see where that is anymore.
Where did those options go?
When I look at preferences for the Finder window, I do not see that as an option that I can enable.
Did I miss it? How do I get that back.
I work with a lot of files in several of my bigger folders. I don't want to waste the time scrolling or searching when I only created a few that day.

Display delimiters for incoming mail - Today, Yesterday, Last Week...

Hello,
Is there a way to make Mail show a delimiter for mail received today, yesterday and so on? I mean...all I see is a looooooong list of mail and no delimiters (like Outlook used to do, or even Entourage). I can see the google-type of organizing (by thread) but there's no easy way to tell that email came in today or yesterday.
Can I replace those numbers with a "today" ?

and the short answer is no.
Funny how we hanker after the unimportant little details. If you want to suggest to Apple that this feature should be included in a future release, use OS X Feedback.

what format is the external drive? How is it connected?
The drive must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - if it is try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
Note that multiple libraries is not necessary and is generally a bad idea.

How to pass relative dates (Yesterday, Last week) via Command Parameters in a linked subreport

I have been struggling with this one and would sure appreciate your help
I have a report that runs fine but takes to long when running, to optimise it have setup it up as a subreport , created a main report which I linked to it via a relative field ({?ServiceID}) field, this has reduced the report time but I would like to go even further by user selecting date e.g startdate, enddate or relative field eg ‘yesterday’, ‘Last Week’
I can do the selectable start and end date fine but I’m failing to make use of the ‘Yesterday’,’ last week’ within the command parameters, below is an example of the code I have on the reports select expert but I want a semiliar filtering on the command parameter to avoid the filtering taking place on crystal but straight from the DB.

Is there a way to collapse the library history view so instead of seeing individual entries they are all grouped by Today, Yesterday, This Week, etc.?

In a previous version of Firefox, when I brought up history using Ctrl+Shift+H, the library would show my history collapsed into Today, Yesterday, This Week, etc. In the current version of Firefox I am using, it shows each individual entry. Is there a way to change this view?

There are two panes one on the left one on the right.
*The right-hand one shows content of folders from the tree on the left.
*Clicking the black arrow-head on the clock denoting the top of the History collapses or expands that part of the tree.
*Clicking the clock itself displays the top content on the right i.e. it will display the folders for Today etc.
*Click any folder and the content of that folder then displays on the right.If you have used the browser quite a bit you probably need to scroll the righthand pane to see all the content.
The bookmarks are also within folders that behave in a similar manner. With certain viewing options you will even see that type of behaviour when looking at some Windows files and folders.

Where did you purchase this. The US phones do not come with the SIM removal tool anymore. They haven't for some time now. I'm not even sure it comes with any of the devices anymore. You can just straighten out a paper clip and do the same thing.

Yesterday & Last week on repots

Hi,
1. How to calculate yesterday date from todays date?, need to view yesterday report on 2days login.
monday i shoud view saturdays.not sundays.
2. Mondays login i need to view last week reports, but on tuesday need to view mondays & tuesday only,
on saturday this weeks only.
How to set the filter on date.

I am trying to run a report that always shows the "last full week" Sun-Sat no matter what day of the week you run it. I have tried to apply the CASE statement to my currently "rolling past week" but still get an error message when running.

Lost my photos from April through last week...

I went to look at a couple of pictures last night, and everything I had taken since last April until the last few pics I loaded last week are gone. Now, everytime I try and open up the Library, or last roll, or any slideshow on the left causes iPhoto 5 to crash. I still have all the photos in finder. I've restarted, verified disk permissions and repaired disk permissions, but nothing has helped.
I gotta say, ever since I upgraded to Tiger, I've been having problems. Is it just me?

It looks like a data file/files go messed up somehow.
Do you have a recent backup of the iPhoto Library folder?
Try a rebuild first:
Try this:
Before doing a rebuild make sure iPhoto's trash bin is emptied. You can do this by control clicking on the trash bin, or from the menu bar under iPhoto.
Close iPhoto
Duplicate the iPhoto Library folder
Drag the duplicate to the desktop (hopefully you have enough room on your hard drive for the duplicate.)
Launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys until you see the rebuild options screen.
Choose the first three options. If you were missing photos in your library, also choose the last option. Be advised that you will get a roll of orphaned photos and it might be quite huge. Most of them will already be in your iPhoto library, but use caution when deleting anything from this roll until you are sure the photos are still in your library in another place. It might be a good idea to share/export this roll of photos just in case you need to import them again.
Back to the rebuild, depending on the size of your library it might take some time. When it is done, hopefully your photos will be there.
You might see some unexpected results as I did when I did a rebuild. Photos had been moved to wrong dates, video clips had lost their duration info and some were even orphaned from the jpg pointer file. It took me some time to straighten it out again.
This is the reason to make a duplicate before you rebuild, in case you do not like the result. If you don't like the result, close iPhoto, then delete the rebuilt library and drag the duplicate back into the Pictures folder making sure the name is iPhoto Library. Launch iPhoto and it should open the library in the Pictures folder.
iPhoto 4 or later: Rebuilding the iPhoto Library
Come back with the results from the rebuild.
If that doesn't work then try creating a new library;
Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and choose it.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.

Hi, I need to switch off the Today - Yestarday - Past week smart folders, in the sidebar. How can I do it? I need more privacy on my mac, since it's used by different people (and don't start immediately to think dirty!).

You can turn these off using the Finder's preferences (choose Finder -> Preferences). However, note that this will do precisely squat for giving you more privacy against people using your account on your Mac. You need to create separate accounts for the other people using your Mac. (Go to System Preferences -> Accounts.) DO NOT allow them to use your account, especially if it is the administrator account!

I cannot open the today, yesterday, last 7 days etc., in history. What can I do?

They have opened before, I THINK.... I usually have Firefox & Safari both open at once.

If you do not see those entries then that means that the history was deleted.
This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

All I get now is a full month of history.

Sorry about that, not sure what may have happened, but it sounds as if the database is corrupt &/or you have lost information due to lack of capacity.
Unfortunately Firefox does not backup the History, so unless you have yourself backedup the databse file or your profile there may not be much that can be done.
The file may be one that Windows saves previous versions of so you could look into that as a method of restoring information.The file is places.sqlite

Before doing that make copies of the current file. The file resides in the Firefox profile. The quickest method of finding the profile is to use

IPhoto crashes lost all imported files from today

Upon re-launching iPhoto dos not display the newely accoried media files that were imported and my SD card shows they were imported? I look at events and the media not their then I goto photos nothing. SO I go back to my SD card and click show all media even if imported. I then re-import the files but then iPhoto says do you want to add this file with the file you are trying to add already is in iphoto but it's not cause the first try iPhoto crashed and the photo that iphoto shows as duplicate is a gray space? Were are the 1st imported media?

In Snow Leopard, finder's sidebar used to have search by [downloaded] today, yesterday,past week, all images. I depended on this feature and it seems to be gone from Lion. Has anyone found this?

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

PSE 13 crashes whenever I try to save a file. It worked last week and no longer works. I tried trashing the preference file. That didn't fix the problem.

I installed PSE 13 three weeks ago. It worked well for a while, then started to crash whenever I tried to save a file for the web. I trashed the preferences. That didn't seem to help. PSE 11 still works well on my Mac, so I think it's a software problem. I also ran the permissions repair on Disk Utility. I have Yosemite on a MacBook Pro with 4 GB of RAM.

I've not used Keynote 5.3 in OS 10.7.5 in quite some time, but I do know that in more current OS versions there is a Saved Application State folder in the Username/Library folder which can get corrupted/ messed up when an application crashes. The User Library folder, as I recall, is hidden in the Finder, but accessible by pressing and holding the Option key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder.
"com.apple.Keynote.savedState" is the folder, or perhaps file, you want to find and delete- making sure Keynote is not open at that time, which if it can't start without crashing will not be a problem.
This is a "trick" I've used with other applications that got stuck in a loop of trying to restore a pre-crash state, and obviously couldn't start as that state led to the crash. I do not see that savedState file for Keynote on my 10.9 computer, but that is where I would look.
