What happened to auto layout in iOS 6 beta 3?

I just downloaded the newest beta version (3) of iOS 6. After I continued work on my projects, which uses auto layout on iOS, I noticed something was wrong. After about 5 hours of testing I figured out that the behaviour of iOS deviced changed between beta 2 and beta 3.
It's very easy to see for yourself. Download the sample code from WWDC 2012 and find project called LineLayout. Run it in Xcode 4.5 Dev Preview 2 (bundled with iOS 6 beta 2) and then run the same project in Xcode 4.5 Dev Preview (bundled with iOS 6 beta 3). You get very different behaviour. The problem is that I couldn't find an explanation of this in the API diffs and I'm not sure if it's a bug or a desired (though changed) behaviour.
Thanks for any advice. I suspect this must have happened to a lot of people who are already using auto layout in iOS apps.

What happened to Auto-Correct in the iOS 7 update & can it be fixed?

I am sooo frustrated & I can't take it anymore!!!
My keyboard has essentially taken on a mind of it's own since I did the iOS 7 update. And by the 'coded' messages I receive from family & friends, followed by "#%*+ed Auto-Correct!!!" I know I'm not the only one!
I find it changes words that are spelled correctly & are grammatically sound into something different. It doesn't know what an apostrophe is anymore. It has no sense of humor 'cause it can't figure out how to lol without capitalizing or turning it into something else. (My sister Quoll'ed at me earlier!)
What's goin' on & how can I get it back to the only sorta-sucky, but mostly funny stuff it did in iOS 6?

I've observed this too and have written to Apple feedback. Suggest everyone else do so as well.
What's happening is they've attempted to implement an autocorrect system that doesn't just look at the current word but the current word and the previous word. In theory that's a great idea, as sometimes the correct spelling will be dependent on context. Mostly, though, its effects are too aggressive and I find I'm ending up with many more errors than under iOS 6 (and I'm fairly accurate on the iP*).
The thing I specifically complained out – since it makes no sense at all – is the way iOS 7 autocorrect seems to hate commas!
If I type a phrase like "the line, therefore" iOS 7 will attempt to turn "line," into some a word without punctuation, e.g. "lines" or "lined". Only after I've typed "therefore" will it offer me the possibility of returning to what I actually typed ("line,"). And if I'm in a rush and don't tap the [x] on the proposed "correction" in time then I'm stuck with it and have to go back and manually edit. (Or I don't notice and end up sending someone a complete nonsense of a sentence.)
This kind of autocorrect is completely nuts. Especially on the iPhone, where you have to go to a different screen of the keyboard to type a comma, so you're hardly going to do it by accident! And on the iPad the corrections almost never involve adding letters that are physically close to the comma key on the keyboard, so again, you're hardly going to hit the comma key by accident if you want, for example, "lines".
My recommendation to Apple was that auto-correct should always respect all punctuation. (Or there should be a setting we switch on for "respect punctuation".)
And that autocorrect should focus on trying to correct the kinds of "real" errors that are made by tapping on adjacent keys instead of aggressively trying to predict what we're about to say and actually changing our words.
In the meantime, I've set up a custom shortcut [,,] which resolves to [, ] – basically on the same principle as two spaces resolving to a period. When I remember to use it, it mostly works quite well at giving me commas that stay stuck.

What happened to "pass lock" after ios 7.1 update? No longer on my iP4S. :(

(iPhone 4S) Downloaded iOS 7.1 last night and today can't find "pass lock" in my Settings - used to appear below Auto-Lock. "Restrictions" is now there, but it doesn't lock my device. Got answers?

Passcode is in the main settings area now. It is no longer in the general area. Tap the settings icon, passcode will be 3 items down from the general tab.

What happened to auto adding appointments from Mail to iCal?

I've just upgraded and might have missed a setting somewhere but Mail 3.6 used to auto detect possible appointments in the body text of an email and provide an mouse over option to automatically add the info (if in fact it was an invitation) to iCal. Similarly it offered this function when one mouse overed somebody's signature at the end of an email, to automatically add their info to Addressbook.
I don't have this functionality in Mail 4.
Any ideas?

Why do I now have a dull grey slate with my apps on it on my iPhone 5? My iPad Air seems no different except for the keyboard.

Can you provide a screenshot to show what you are referring to? This might make it easier for diagnosing. I have iOS 7.0.6 on my iPhone 5S and am out of town away from my regular computer so I do not want to update right now, and my dock is just a gray rectangle behind the icons on the dock.

Same thing happened to me, though mine now says 10/7, I think because I ordered the 64gb version of the 6 plus. So disappointing that Verizon can't shoot straight with answers to these questions, and who knows why mine order was caught in the fraud department. It's never happened before and seemed to be awfully coincidental that it happened as stock for these was limited. Using it as excuse for delaying this shipment? I learned my lesson though and will be ordering through Apple directly or somewhere like BestBuy in the future.
I've filed a complaint with the BBB in regards to this issue with them. Chances are nothing will come of it and I'll never see a resolution till after they get their heads out of the arses.

What happened to auto-lock in mountain lion? I need it back.

I had my whole company upgrade to Lion, so we could use the well thought out source control features of the desktop. One of the key features was auto-lock. This prevents someone from accenditally changing a document without commiting to it. The auto-locking made the other changes such as duplicate make sense.
Now these are gone in Mountain lion. Which also makes the other changes to the file system like duplicate superfluous.
How do we get them back? Do we have to be stuck in Lion forever? Who puts in new features in an OS, just to remove them wihtout an option in the next cycle? That is inane.
Is there any way to turn this back on?

Go through each of the sources Music, Movies etc. and select Playlists. Use the elipsis ... to enable sources. Apps, Tones, and Internet Radio don't have a Playlists button, the others do and remember your selection. Not exactly the same as the old sidebar, but not too different.

What happened to auto type ?

The auto type function in iTunes no longer works and I cannot find any adjustments to change it.
Did they do away with it ?
I am not referring to the new "finishing a word" feature.
I am asking about words that are already in iTunes and it gives you the ability to complete the name of the artist or song that has previously been typed in (stored) in the column.

What happened to my audiobook in ios 6 on my iphone?

I updated to ios 6 and I see where the podcasts have their own app. But now all my music and audiobooks are gone. Where are they?

Hi, all!
I was facing the same issue and I must confess it was annoying me. I have tried some alternatives and eventually one of them have worked for me.
I am sharing with you guys here below so that maybe this approach works for you as well!
1- Open Itunes and connect your iphone.
2- Click on your iphone under devices in itunes
3- On the menu at the top of its screen, click on books
4- Then, scroll down to audiobook sync options
5- Now the tricky part, uncheck it at all and then sync your iphone. Somehow it has vanished while updating iOS however when simply trying to sync again the system I don't know why seems to understand it is already there and doesn't copy the files. That said, when removing it firstly, itunes will erase it from your device wherever it is and then you will be able to actually sync your audiobooks as a second step, hopefully without any trouble.
6- Hence, last but not least, after 'unsync' as a first step, finally check the audiobook option and sync it again! Voilà! Your audiobooks are there in Music App > More as usual!
I hope this silly but necessary routine works for you all as well!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Confused about what happened to layout tools in CC

I'm wondering what happened to the tools that used to be in DW CS6 on the bottom of the layout window? It seems that many of the tools have been eliminated? Is there someway to get them back? I've attached screenshots of the same doc in CS6 and CC. Please note that the option to make the view 100% is gone as well as the pointer and the hand tool. Please help! Thanks!!!

I re-worked the code a bit. And I can see the layout just fine but I can't see the oversized background-image in Design view. I suspect it's just too big.

What happened to the labels in Contacts with iOS 6?

When I choose to add a new contact in my Contacts list, the contact label options are the following: mobile, home, work, home fax, work fax, pager, assistant, car, company main, radio.
My custom labels are gone, and the option to "Add Custom Label" is not there, either.
However, when I choose to edit a current contact and try to choose a contact label, the options are as follows: mobile, iPhone, home, work, main, home fax, work fax, other fax, pager, other.
I also have my custom labels and the option to "Add Custom Label."
Has anyone else noticed this? If not, try it. You'll see what I mean.

Back up everything to iCloud. You will have to restore your device, but do NOT "Restore from Backup." You will have to "Setup as New [iDevice]" and then use iCloud to retrieve all your data.
It's a little inconvenient, but this actually fixed the Contacts labels and battery drainage problems.
There's some glitch with a direct update to iOS 6 through either Wi-Fi or iTunes. Those are the two problems that this method fixed, at least for me.
I don't know what other bugs are present in iOS 6, but those were the two that bothered me the most.

If you downloaded the correct version for your iPad model (and the different models have different ipsw files), then you should be able to navigate to it in iTunes by pressing and holding the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button.

Siri Can't Post To Facebook "Sorry I'm afraid I can't post to your Facebook, I'm not sure what happened" iOS 8.3

I've had trouble with this for quite a while now. Not sure what the issue is. I have an iPhone 6+ running the current software iOS 8.3 & when I try to post a Facebook status through Siri she responds with something along the lines of "I'm sorry. I can't post to your Facebook. I'm not sure what happened." Not sure what's causing this issue as I have the Facebook app installed on my iPhone as well as being signed in through the settings app. Note: this is an issue only with Facebook. She is able to post tweets with no with no issue.
