What happened to new Vista Audigy Drive

Okay, so I check for new Vista drivers (with apps so I can use MIDI and soundfonts!) for my Audigy card every night. I was hopeful when X-Fi drivers were released last week. No Audigy drivers? Did I miss something? WILL there be new Vista 32 drivers with apps for Audigy cards or is CL abandoning them completely?
If CL goes down that path, what X-Fi cards will do MIDI with soundfont apps (like XP soundfont manager - loading soundfont banks into computer memory)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. So much frustration!

dear one and all! greetings to all who are breaking their head after buying vista and trying to make their 5. system woking. i downloaded the vista audigy driver from the support site of creative but i have lets say only 0 per cent of the performance. there is no 5. output, no add on drivers and no mixers , the usual hoopla hapla one gets while buying new hardware! i was wondering if the moderators could help me ! what shoud i do get 5. audio with vista and audigy. i already have the vista driver. it doesnt seem to help. please help! thanks in advance!

What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?

I'm on my second iMac. My first one (G5, 1984) died, and I replaced it early 2010 with an Intel mac. The transition when exceedingly well largely due to Time Machine. I just hooked the Time Machine drive to the new system, and I was soon back up running!
My home folder has 70GB of data. The Macintosh drive has 105GB of data and 395GB free. The Time Machine drive has 220GB used and 30GB free.
1. What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?
2. Do I have control over what backups get deleted?
3. If lightning strikes twice, will I still be able to restore my Intel mac like my G5 mac, even if backups get deleted?
4. Is there anyway to control what backups/backup files get deleted?
5. Any other thoughts?

Do you mean all of them? The entire Backups.backupdb folder?
That's a large mess. First, even a normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of files. Your best bet by far is to simply erase them with Disk Utility -- that will only take a few moments. If your TM drive has a single partition, see #1 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html]. If there are other partition(s) on the drive, see #2 there.
If not, and you only deleted some of the folders, you have a different, worse problem. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't do a very good job of warning folks: +*Never move, change, or delete anything in your backups via the Finder or Terminal.+*
You shouldn't have to delete backups at all, since Time Machine will do that automatically when the disk/partition gets full. But you can do it without harm via Time Machine. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
A normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably tens or hundreds of thousands of items, each of which must be individually deleted. A secure delete will take much, much longer, as each deleted file must be overwritten with zeros.

Download the full version of the software then shift click the restore button. This will ask you where the firmware files are. Once you point to the firmware then you can install the official version

What happened with new firmware

Last time I visit download page there was a new firmware for my MuVo v200 : MuVoV200_PCFW_LF__0_04.exe (November 2005)
And now only MuVoV200_PCFW_LF__05_02.exe (September 2005) is available...

Creative removed it - they've done the same for a few of the latest firmware versions. No-one has mentioned why but you can bet that it wasn't because it was the best firmware ever and cured all known problems.

What happened to my external hard drive?

All of a sudden, it appears that my iMac is not recognizong my external hard drive used for Time Machine. When I open Time Machine, I get an error stating that it is not set up. It also shows that my last back-up was 08/04. There is no data in Time Machine. Did my drive die?

you might have to but it's not clear that your drive is dead. try reformatting it by booting from the leopard install DVD and using disk utility from there.

An encrypted disk using Apple's FileVault technology will be encrypted underneath the OS, meaning that OS X will not be aware of the encryption. The sytem sets up a pre-boot volume manager that manages the encryption and loads when you first start the system. When you provide your login information the manager unlocks the disk and then passes your login information to the OS so it will log in to your account when it is done loading.
Encrypting the drive underneath the OS means that everything the system writes to the disk will be encrypted, with no additional steps or support needing to be implimented in the OS. In essence, you will not notice a difference when running your system on the encrypted disk. The only drawback is the inability to boot to Safe Mode, and of course read the drive from another system if it gets corrupted and cannot boot (but that's what encryption is for, and that's also why we have backups).

From a architectual point of view, when does the WAE delete old cache. When the hard drive fills up how does it know what information to delete?

In WAAS, the oldest DRE and CIFS cache data ages out and is deleted when a partition full threshold is reached. This is also true for the /local1/ directory where the log files are kept, so if transaction logging is being done, it should delete the older files first when newer ones are being written. However, each cache aging algorithm is slightly different.
The WAE should be running at maximum efficiency when the disks are actually full and some aging out is happening. You should be getting the most cache hits at this point.

What happened to new songs in my Library?

I "signed" new agreement that popped up while downloading a song in iTunes today. Not only did 28 American Express Gift card points disappear, but that song, and songs subsequently downloaded, appear only under "Purchased" file but not under "Music" library. Will these songs be able to be synced to iPod? I forgot, does iPod sync from Music Library or Purchased? Has anyone else had this problem where songs appear under "Purchased" but not in "Music" Library? How does one rectify this? Many thanks.

Thank you Diane, while they are still not appearing on the "full list" , I did what you suggested, and they certainly exist as separate line items in the music Library. You stated that when I sync to the iPod, just put it on "automatic", so I assume that will take care of the problem. And that is what I will do. My deepest appreciation.

I just redid my comp i go to install my Creative driver and find out that the driver available in April 07 which i think was released in March is no longer available. So i try this new one and it gives me nothing but static. So what happens if you lost your driver disc? S

My brother had future shop install soundblaster card and didnt get the driver disc. Now he cant install his sound card because he has no drivers. Needless to say these drivers seem to be too precious imo. So what do people do what have lost their drivers?
IS there somewhere to download them? And what is teh point of not providing that service? I consider this a total turn off as now I figure I better hold onto my driver disc because its as valuable as the sound card, isnt that rediculous?
I tried using my platinum z disc but it wont recognize his sound card.

I did manage to find SB drivers that work, but it was a few months ago (last reformat) I found them burned on a disc. It didnt come come from a Creative web site though but **bleep** if I can remember where or I would give you all a heads up.
I consider this driver issues extremely poor service. What are alternates to creative products? I actually never heard of any other name brand sound cards, but I dont think I'll buy another creative product.

I moved my iTunes media/library (as well as iPhoto) to an external hard drive many moons ago. It's been a great decision up until today, when the portable hard drive I was using decided to commit suicide. Is it possible to restore the lost media and library files from Time Machine, or are all of my music (and picture) files officially gone??? Help!!

If you have been doing the basics and backing up your computer, then they are not gone. They are in your backup.
Use your backup to put them back.

What happened to "news", etc. and "most visited" at top of home page?

I used to have items on the home page that I could click on such as "news" which would take me to a site with news sources where I could search for news topics and get the latest info on a topic. There was also a "most visited" tab I could click that took me to a list of some sites that I most went to. These have disappeared w/ the latest update.

As far as the "Most Visited", that should still be on the Bookmarks Toolbar, AFAIK. I know I have to delete that in every new Profile I create, but then again I am using Windows, not Mac OSX.

What happened to my external LaCie drives?

I have two LaCie external drives attached to my iMac. Unfortunately, they are both named LaCie (poor planning on my part). I wanted to rename them and didn't know how. When I opened finder I clicked on the arrows to the right of the drive names thinking that might do it. I did it to both of them and now they are gone from finder and gone from the desktop. Since they are in the same place and the blue lights are on I have reason to believe that someone can help me get them back and, perhaps, even rename them.

What happened to New Every 2?

I'm past my upgrade date and the site says I can upgrade with discounted pricing.
But when I start the upgrade process, I'm offered a HTC One at $199 which is the standard 2 year pricing.
Verizon used to have a $50 discount on phones if you waited until your contract expired. Is that gone? (I was expecting to see a price of $149 for this phone).
Does Verizon offer any incentive/reward for loyal customers anymore (10+ years now)?

The New Every Two program was retired in the first half of 2011. Around January 16, 2011 I believe. If you upgraded and renewed prior to that date, you were allowed one last discount. However the discount also had an expiration date attached to it as well. You had to use it within six months of becoming upgrade eligible. What happened to Attansic L1 (atl1) driver?

Recently discovered I have no ethernet support on my P5K-E box, which is strange because it worked fine when I installed Gentoo back in 2009. Makes hardwiring at LAN parties a bit difficult. Doesn't even show up in lspci but I know it's Attansic L1 and the driver was called atl1. Did support for this hardware suddenly die or is there some way to get it working again?

The kernel still provides atl1. If it's not already loaded, modprobe it - if it is, check dmesg for clues.
