What happens if I delete a site in iweb?  site still on the web? system?

B/c of my various issues i'm having since upgrading iweb, I created two test sites on iweb09. I was able to upload them to the web and to a folder.
I deleted both. Later, I created another test site with the same name (site 2). I noticed this one was acting weird.
I'm wondering what happens to the sites after they are deleted.
1. Are they available on the web?
2. Are they somewhere else on my system that I should make sure to delete?
Thx.

Deleting sites inside iweb does not have any effect on what has been published on a server or to a folder on your local drive. It just changes what is in iWeb's domain file.

Nothing. You will lose that backup but you will still be able to make backups in the future if you want to. You can also remove things you do not need from the backup, so you do not have to lose everything from your backup.

  • What happens if I delete CalDAV in iCal? I'm getting a persistent error message

What happens if I delete CalDAV in iCal? I'm getting a persistent error message that says something like the server doesn't recognize my account or username, or some such thing.
Background: This all started after I (a) decided to try a free trial of MobileMe and then (b) decided against buying it.
At first it was saying it didn't recognize my .me account or something, and then I went and played around with changing the user name and password, but it still doesn't like that, so my instinct is to delete the entire CalDAV account.....but I don't know what the account IS, exactly. In other words, if I delete the CalDAV account, will my calendars disappear entirely? Or is all this nonsense just related to my nonexistent MobileMe account? In other words, if this is something that had to do with MobileMe, but I cancelled MobileMe and don't care about it, can I just delete it and go on with my life?
Thanks! The error messages are torture.

If you don't have a MobileMe account then iCal has nothing to connect to, and you should remove any accounts from iCal Preferences>Accounts.
I assume that given this you can't have any calendars listed under an @me.com account name: all your calendars should be listed either under 'On My Mac' or under no heading (other than any subscribed calendars).
if you do have any calendars listed under an @me.com account name you should move them back to 'On My Mac' before deleting the account. the process is explained in the second set of numbered instructions on this page:

The timing of a Commit doesn't depend on the size of transaction.

     cost, cardinality, rows, etc...Oracle documentation should help you, just google for that. You should also visit 'asktom.oracle.com' for the topic. I'm going through a book 'Troubleshooting Oracle Performance' written by Christian Antognini and I feel it contains very good explanation on such topics.

  • What happens when we delete task

    Hi.
What happens when we delete task from the request? Does the changes get deleted?

No.. The changes wo'nt get deleted. Instead the TASK will be detached from the Request number. That means it will delete task related entries from the E070, E071... tables.
However when the next time if you save the Object it will ask for a new TASK.
    Cheers,

  • If I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive, what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home?

if I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive (i.e. Time Capsule), what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home?  I'm afraid I know the answer, but I'm hoping Apple has a great solution to my problem.

What if this little piggy goes to market but this little piggy stays home?
The computer on a trip will do snapshot backups on the hard drive that will then be incorporated into the Time Machine backup once you get it back home. See
OS X Lion- About Time Machine's "local snapshots" on portable Macs
Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal
To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal
Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots.

I just installed LR CC and am having trouble opening catalogs where I followed the instructions to upgrade.  Just posted a question about it.
Discovered a problem when I went looking for some images that were not included in the most recent catalog.  After opening up a couple of older ones and upgrading, I went back to the most recent and couldn't opening.  Message says it is not writable.  And also says it may be due to incorrect permissions.  If you have any suggestions for this, I would love to hear them.

  • I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks. Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't help. The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.

I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks.
Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't rectify it either.
The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.
Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== the Firefox is being used

    I think I have a solution.
First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.
Look for the file '''moz_hosts''' in the folder '''places.sqlite'''.
Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....
    Wa-la...History Gone!!!
As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.
Please tell me if you see any flaw in this.

  • When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder, what happens if I delete the photo in Iphoto ? Will the original file in the folder be deleted too?

When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder to iphoto, what happens if:
    1. I delete that photo in iphoto? will the original file in the folder be deleted too ?
    2.  when importing, does the hard disk store 2 versions of the photo, hence occupying additional space in the harddisk?

1 - no  --  iPhoto only manages fiel within the iPhoto library - it does not ever do anything with files outside the library
2 - No idea what you are asking - by default (and strongly recommended) iPhoto copies the original to the iPhoto library and you delete the source file outside the iPhoto library - iPhoto alwasy has at least two versions of every photo and some times three - it always have the original, a thumbnail and once a photo is modified a preview - this is not optional - if it is not what you want then iPhoto is not the correct progrtam to be using for phopto management

  • What happens if i delete pictures on iCloud

    Hi There,
I used to have round about 400 pictures on my phone, long story with me restoring my MacBook Pro.
I ended up losing the pictures not overal fussed, i now have about 170 on all my devices, yet when i go on my iCloud settings it says 3.1GB is being stored within iCloud, what happens if i turn off / delete that setting from iCloud, will the 170 photo's i have get deleted from the iCloud, i can i backup again so my 170 odd photo's are just on the iCloud?

If you remove photos from the camera roll, they will be removed from your back up.
before removing photos from the camera roll you should copy them to a computer, an online storage service or put them into shared streams in iCloud.

  • What happen when I delete STMS?

    Dear gurus,
When I delete STMS configuration from all system (DEV, QA, PRD), is the stms queue also deleted?
When I reconfigure (change transport domain from DEV to QA), will the queue will be there again?
And what happen in SE01? Will the transport request will still be there in the Development system?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best Regards,

    What if there's this scenario:
    From network perspective:
Network / Port from DEV -> QA = allowed
Network / Port from QA -> PRD = allowed
Network / Port from DEV -> PRD = closed
    Transport Domain is DEV.
    Transport Domain Controller is QA.
When I configure STMS in Production, PRD can't be included in the transport domain.
What's the solution when we want to leave the network configuration remain unchanged?
    Best Regards,

  • What happens after TM deletes full backup & only incrementals are left?

If I understand this correctly, Time Machine does 1 complete backup & then incremental backups after that. If that's correct, what happens when the full backup is about to be erased because the backup drive is full? Does TM alert you to this & ask if you want to create a new full backup instead of another incremental one? Also, is there any way to get TM to create a log so you can see at a glance what's in the incremental backups without having to click through all the folders in each one?
    TIA,
    Elllen

Answering this dives into how files are represented on a disk. Basically, a disk is a huge expanse of storage space and an index/catalogue/"table of contents". When you copy data to a disk you physically copy the data into the storage space and then make a reference in the index as to where it resides on the disk. The operating system sees the reference, and doesnt go scouring the disk for files whenever you open a folder. This makes finding files and tracking their locations in the directory tree much easier. A single index-link to a storage chunk is called a "hard link". When the operating system "deletes" a file, it doesnt erase it from storage, but instead just removes the "hard link" index entry.
Since files are referenced through an index instead of reading the actual storage space of the disk itself, you can have multiple references in the index to the same chunk of storage space. Hence, you can have multiple hard links which are essentially the same file.
Keeping that in mind, read on...
Every "incremental" backup is a representation of the full backup, including the first "full" backup. Its no different than any other backup (the only difference is that it was the first one so it took longer to copy everything over). Once a file is copied over to the backup disk, it is referred to by a "hard link" in the disk's index. This is essentially how a disk points to a file on any drive. It copies the data over and then creates a hard link to the file's physical location on the disk, which is how the file is accessed by the operating system (or rather, howe the operating system knows the file exists on the disk). You can have multiple hard links to a file, where the same allocation of disk space is pointed to by two different hard links in the index. As such, you can have two representations of the same file (and therefore two links to it) represented on the same disk. If you delete one of the hard links, it will behave as if it's deleted the file, but in fact the file will still remain on disk and will be accessible through the second hard link.
Note that this is different from an Alias (which is also called a "soft link"), which is a file in itself that points to a single hard link. An alias can be removed without the original file being touched.
When TM does the initial backup it copies all the contents over to the backup disk, and then creates hard links to those files which it represents in the first backup folder. When the next backup occurs, any changed files are copied over with new hard links created. The unchanged files, however, are not copied again but instead are just referred to again with new hard links in the new backup folder. As such, new files have one hard link to them (until the next backup), and the old files have two (one in the current backup folder and one in the previous folder). This creates a situation where if the first backup folder is deleted, the original files that were copied are not lost, as they are still represented by hard links in the newer backup folder, and can be accessed that way.
So, why is this different than creating aliases to the original files in the initial backup? Since aliases are just files that point to hard links, if Aliases to the original backups were used instead of hard links, when the original hard links in the initial backup folder are removed the aliases would no longer point to anything anymore and the files would be gone. This defeats the purpose of a backup.
When a file changes from the initial backup, on the next backup the newer version will be copied over and a new hard link to it will be created. If you delete all hard links to the initial backup (by deleting the initial backup folder) the newer file will still be there in the new folder but all references to the old file will be gone and you'll be left with only the new file (along with everything else that was unchanged).
Now to answer your question: Basically, when the old backups are deleted by Time Machine, its not the full/initial backup that's deleted, but only the old versions of files that have been changed. All the original files that were not changed are still there, represented in every backup (new and old) by hard links.
