What is 11.1.2.2 installation's best practice????

Hi All- we need to install the following component for 11.1.2.2 version.
Foundation piece (HSS and workspace)
EPMA
FDM
Essbase
Planning
BI+
To install all the above pieces we have 2 servers, 1 windows server 2008 and the other is AIX. Both are having very good H/W configuration. Now gurus what do you think what component should be installed where and WHY?.I know for a fact that EPMA and FDM can only be configured on windows. Please share any documentation URL.
Thanks in advance

Try calling in a consultant to provide the options to you as it is important that the installation/configuration is done correctly.
Cheers

  • SQL Server installation paths best practices

In my company we're planning to setup a new (consolidated) SQL Server 2012 server (on Windows 2012 R2, VMWare). Current situation is there is a SQL Server 2000, a few SQL Server 2008 Express and a lot of Access databases. For the installation I'm wondering
what the best selections for the various installation paths are. Our infra colleagues (offshore) have the following standard partition setup for SQL Server servers:
    C:\ OS
    E:\ Application
    L:\ Logs
    S:\ DB
    T:\ TEMPDB
And during the installation I have to make a choice for the following
    Shared feature directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    Shared feature directory (x86): x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
Instance root directory (SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services): x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    Database Engine Configuration Data Directories:
    Data root directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    User database directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
User database log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
Temp DB log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Backup directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Analysis Services Configuration Data Directories:
    User database directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
User database log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
Temp DB log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Backup directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Distributed Replay Client:
    Working Directory: x:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\DReplayClient\WorkingDir\
    Result Directory: x:\Program Files (86)\Microsoft SQL Server\DReplayClient\ResultDir\
So I'd like some on assistance on the filling in the x drive letters. I understand it's best practice to seperate the data files and the logs files. But should that also be the case for TempDB? And should both the database and tempdb log files go to the
same log paritition then? What about the backup directories? Any input is very much appreciated!
Btw, I followed the http://www.sqlservercentral.com/blogs/basits-sql-server-tips/2012/06/23/sql-server-2012-installation-guide/ guide for the installation (Test server now).

You can place all installation libraries on E:\ Drive.

You can place tempdb data files on T drive and I prefer to place tempdb log and user database log file
on the same drive i.e is L:\ Drive.

If you are not using any third party tool then i would prefer to create separate drive for backup.

    Hi,
I also want to know what kind of monitoring scripts I can use to setup as cron jobs to monitor or detect any failure or problems?
    To monitor Cluster (OS Level):
I suggest you use a powerful tool "CHM" that already comes with product Grid Infrastructure.
What do you do to configure? Nothing ... Just use.
Cluster Health Monitor (CHM) FAQ [ID 1328466.1]
    See this example:
    http://levipereira.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/monitoring-the-cluster-in-real-time-with-chm-cluster-health-monitor/
    To monitor Database:
PERFORMANCE TUNING USING ADVISORS AND MANAGEABILITY FEATURES: AWR, ASH, and ADDM and Sql Tuning Advisor. [ID 276103.1]
The purpose of this article is to illustrate how to use the new 10g manageability features to diagnose
and resolve performance problems in the Oracle Database.
Oracle10g has powerful tools to help the DBA identify and resolve performance issues
without the hassle of analyzing complex statistical data and extensive reports.

  • Installation and best practices

I saw this link being discussed in a thread about "Live Type," but I think it needs a thread of its own, so I'm going to begin it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4722?viewlocale=en_US
I have Motion 4 (and everything else with FCS 2, of course), and just purchased Motion 5 via the App Store. (I'm sure I'll be buying FCP X also at some point, but decided to hold off for now.)
When I was reading the "Live Type" thread there was some discussion about Motion 5 overwriting Motion 4 projects or something like that, so I started freaking out. I've opened both 5 and 4, but am closing them until I understand what's going on.
Since I purchased Motion 5 from the App Store, I'm just under the assumption that my Mac took care of everything correctly. I see that Motion 4 resides in the FCS folder and Motion 5 is a stand-alone in the Applications folder.
So I guess my questions are these ...
    1) What's so important about having FCS 2009 on a separate drive? I have a couple other internal drives with more than enough lots and lots of free space, so that isn't an issue for me. I just wonder why this is a "best practice." The two programs CAN share the same drive ...the link says so.
    2) I supppose that I'll let 4 and 5 reside side by side for now. How do I make sure Motion 5 won't screw up my Motion 4 projects? (My hunch is that you can open a M4 project in M5 and do a "save as" ...this will create an M5 version and leave the M4 alone. Am I correct about that?) Maybe the answer to this is related to my first question.
    3) I want to make sure I'm not missing something my the words "startup disk." Although I have 3 drives in my MacPro, only is a "startup disk" ...the other two are for storage. If I move everything from FCS to a different internal drive, does it make any difference that the destination drive is NOT a starup disk.
**I'm gonna separate this part out a bit because it may or may not be related to the previous quesitons.**
I noticed the Motion 5 came with very little content and only a few templates, but I read in another thread that additional content/t can be downloaded free when I do an update. I also read that thread that this free content is pretty much the same as the content that I have with Motion 4.
    1) If I download this additional content (which is basically the same as what's in Motion 4), will I just have a duplicate of all that material?
    2) Could this be part of the reason that Apple reccomends that Motion 5 be on a separate drive ...so that the content and templates don't get mixed up?
--Just a couple months ago, I finally got around to cleaning out all the FCS content, throwing away duplicates and organinzing thins properly. If I've got to got through this process again, I want to do it correclty the first time.

When you install Motion 5 or FCP X, all your Final Cut Studio apps are moved into a folder called Final Cut Studio.  This is because you can't have two apps with the same name in the same folder.  I'm running them both on the same drive, no problems.
Motion 5 does not automatically overwrite any Motion project files, that is hogwash.  When you open a v.4 file into 5, it will ask if you want to convert the original to 5, or open a copy called Untilted and make it a v.5 project.  Very simple.  If you're super paranoid, Duplicate the original Motion project file, and open the copy into v.5 to be extra safe.  Remember once a project file is version 5, it can't be opened into previous versions.
You can't launch both at the same time, duh.
The System Drive, or OS drive, is just that, the drive your operating system is installed on.  All applicactions should be on that drive, and NOT be moved to other drives.  Especiall pro apps like these.  Move them to a non-OS drive, and you'll regret it.  Trust me.
Yes, run Software Update (Apple Menu) and you'll get additional content for Motion 5 that v.4 doesn't have.  It won't be any problem with space on your drive.  That stuff takes up very little space.
Apple recommends two different OS drives, or partitions, only to avoid an overwhelming flood of people screaming "What happened to my Final Cut Studio legacy apps?" and other such problems.  Hey, they're put into a new folder, that's all, breath...
If you're having excessive problems, you may not have hardware up to speed.  CPU speed is needed, at least 8GB RAM (if not 12 or 16 for serious work), but your graphics card needs to really be up to speed.  iMacs and MacBook Pros barely meet up, and will work well.  Mac Pros can get much more powerful graphics cards.  Airs and Minis should be avoided like the plauge.
After checking hardware, be sure to run Disk Utility to "repair" all drives.  Then, get the free app "Preference Manager" by Digital Rebellion (dot com) to safely trash your app's preference files, which resets it, and can fix a lot of current bugs.

  • What is the Account and Contact workflow or best practice?

I'm just learning the use of the web services. I have written something to upload my customers into accounts using the web services. I need to now include a contact for each account. I'm trying to understand the workflow. It looks like I need to first call the web service to create the account, then call a separate web service to create the contact and include the account's ID with the contact to that they are linked, is this correct?
Is there a place I can go to find the "best practices" for work flows?
Can I automatically create the contact within my call to create the account in the web service?
    Thanks,

Probably a poor choice of words. Sorry.
So basically, I have gotten further, but I just noticed related problem.
I'm using the WebServices(WS) 1.0. I insert an account, then, on a separate WS call, I insert my contacts for the account. I include the AccountID, and a user defined key from the Account when creating the Contact.
When I look at my Contact on the CRMOD web page, it shows the appropriate links back to the Account. But when I look at my Account on the CRMOD web page, it shows no Contacts.
So when I say workflow or Best Practice, I was hoping for guidance on how to properly write my code to accomplish all of the necessary steps. As in this is how you insert an account with a contact(s) and it updates the appropriate IDs so that it shows up properly on the CRMOD web pages.
Based on the above, it looks like I need to, as the next step, take the ContactID and update the Account with it so that their is a bi-directional link.
I'm thinking there is a better way in doing this.
    Here is my psuedocode:
    AccountInsert()
    AccountID = NewAcctRec
    ContactInsert(NewAcctRec)
    ContactID = NewContRec
    AccountUpdate(NewContRec)
    Thanks,

  • What are the size limitations, if any? Best practices?

Are there any limitations on the size of the Spiceworks database (including knowledge base), outside of the system it lives on, or a point at which it might begin to affect performance?  If so, is there an archive feature, or is the solution deleting old tickets and kb articles?

    Hi Astrid,
Thanks for reaching out.It could be a out of memory issue.
If you increase the memory that SAP Predictive Analysis is allowed to consume.
Go to the location where SAP Predictive Analysis was installed. In my case it is:
    C:\Program Files\SAP Predictive Analysis\Desktop
Here you find a file "SAPPredictiveAnalysis.ini" - open this in Notepad and change the
"-Xmx" parameter to approximately half of our PC/laptops memory.
For instance in your case you could try with: -Xmx4096m
I have outlined this is a few more steps here:

    Hope it works for you.

  • Best practice implementation. What are the steps for this?.

We had an upgrade from CRM 4 to 7 undertaken by some outfit (name deleted). After the upgrade was complete it would look as though the comapny carried on using the GUI interface rather than the WebUI interface, mainly because that's how CRM 4 worked. Now they would like to use the WebUI interface of CRM 7, as the GUI interface is no longer supported, but are receiving a number of errors when using certain features of teh WebUI. It would look as though a lot of config is missing, especially in the UI Framework area. I can only assume that whichever company performed the upgarde simply skipped this section when upgrading.
I assume that I could download the best practice install/upgrade (?) and then just execute the section regarding the UI Framework, if such a section exists. bearing in mind that there seems to be a lot of config missing in the UI Framework section, would you recommend the course of action that I have mentioned?.
Our WebUI Interaction centre is giving errors when we go in and I have been informed that I need to complete the config for:
Customer Relationship Management->UI Framework->UI Framework Definition->Maintain Runtime Framework Profile
But as I mentioned, there are lots of other sections in the UI Framework area that are empty and hence the suggestion I made above. Hopwever, I would specifically be interested to hear from anyone who can tell me what the entries are in the view table BSPWDV_RF_PROF_C and possibly the table BSPWDV_CTRL_REPL and BSPWDV_DEF_CC.
I know this only completes part of the config, but it might be enough so that the WebUI IC can be viewed.
On another subject, I have just come into this company and if I wanted to see what had been installed how do I go about that. for example, if I wanted to know if there had been an upgrade from 4 to 7 for a particular Industry solution, where do I check this?.
    Jason

I have been through the following steps:
    Entered this URL http://help.sap.com/bp/initial/index.htm
    Clicked on 'Cross-industry Packages'
    Clicked on 'CRM'
    Clicked on 'Englilsh'
Then the following page is displayed:
    http://help.sap.com/bp_crm70/CRM_DE/HTML/index.htm displayed
But now what?. How do I get the Best practice instructions for a CRM implemenation?.

  • What is the best practice in securing deployed source files

    hi guys,
Just yesterday, I developed a simple image cropper using ajax
and flash. After compiling the package, I notice the
package/installer delivers the same exact source files as in
    developed to the installed folder.
This doesnt concern me much at first, but coming to think of
it. This question keeps coming out of my head.
"What is the best practice in securing deployed source
    files?"
How do we secure application installed source files from
being tampered. Especially, when it comes to tampering of the
source files after it's been installed. E.g. modifying spraydata.js
files for example can be done easily with an editor.

    Hi,
You could compute a SHA or MD5 hash of your source files on
first run and save these hashes to EncryptedLocalStore.
On startup, recompute and verify. (This, of course, fails to
address when the main app's swf / swc / html itself is
    decompiled)
