What is a DTU exactly?

I know that a DTU "[...]represents the power of the database engine as a blended measure of CPU, memory, and
read and write rates." But this means nothing to me.
When planning my application development, how am I supposed to plan around such an arbitrary definition? Can someone explain to me exactly how these units are computed?
Is there any way I can estimate, using my on-premise SQL server's activity now, how many DTUs would be used if the database was moved to the cloud instead of on-premise?

Hi Zach,
I suggest you to analyse your application, and number of users you might expect. It would be a guess initiallty. You can use the below three plans to decide which one to choose. At on premises, you can use sql profiler, to get an idea about which all queries
are being used and the performance cost associated with each on of them.
Basic: Best suited for a small size database, supporting typically one single active operation at a given time. Examples include databases used for development or testing, or small scale infrequently used applications.
Standard: The go-to option for most cloud applications, supporting multiple concurrent queries. Examples include workgroup or web applications.
Premium: Designed for high transactional volume, supporting a large number of concurrent users and requiring the highest level of business continuity capabilities. Examples are databases supporting mission critical applications.
Have a nice day.

There may be a couple Apps that may help, but I understand they don't work very well.  The best solution would be to contact the owners of the websites and let them know they need to update their site.
The alternative I use, is to download the problem video onto my computer, and convert it to M4V or MP4 format using a program like HandBrake <HandBrake>.  Then it can be added to iTunes and synced with the iPad.

  • What is Lead , Opportunity exactly?

    Hello All,
        I am new to CRM.
I want to know what is Lead & Opportunity exactly?
        Thanks in advance.

    Hi Abhijit
Nice to know that you have entered the CRM world. Well, Lead and Opportunity are two different Business transactions in mySAP CRM. The system defines those business partners as Leads who are good prospects and finally give a profitable business. Lead is part of both marketing and sales modules of CRM. Leads can be created by sending surveys to the target groups of people and can be assigned some scores on the basis of which these leads can qualify as hot, warm or cold or any other category as defined in the system. Depending on the qualification level, we can either create an opportunity from the existing lead or can create a fresh opportunity.
If you want to know more on leads and opportunities, dosend in your individual id,  will try to send a good document on the same.
    Thanks

  • What is the policy EXACTLY since Ive been told 2 seperate things?

I got a BB Bold 9650 in Nov of last year. Since then, I have had SEVEN refurbs. Each one with different problems. My first refurb was 6 weeks after I got my NEW device. Ive had a myriad of problems, each phone with a different issue, although some had some of the same. Around the fourth I started asking if I could get a comperable phone (since I had done that in the past) after 3 phones. They said the had stopped doing that. They sent me my 5th. (it was either right before the 5th or right after I got fed up, cancelled the whole account with 5 lines. I then decided I didnt want to pay 835 in ETF fees, and restarted them within the alloted 60 days). The 5th phone, OUT OF THE BOX had issues and I told them that. Ended up taking it into the store, they deemed it inrepairable (again) and sent me a new one AFTER FIVE DAYS. I receive my 6th blackberry three days ago.
36 hours into having the phone, the mic goes COMPLETELY OUT. I call VZW in a rage. I was told (in our local store, from an employee) between phones 5-6 (or possibly 6-7) that while VZW does no longer do the comparible after THREE broken devices, it WILL do it after approx 5 of them. Since I was on my (7th i believe) one, the guy said there should be NO PROBLEM in getting a comparible device. (Back to calling in a rage now). The girl auto offered me before I even asked, a comparible device, and I thought "gee, that guy must have been right!" we fill the order, she tells me it will be overnighted, and that the battery comes in one box, the phone in another, and it will be on my doorstep today.
Fedex comes, and only the battery has came. I call verizon, and was informed the PHONE ORDER was never put through, JUST THE BATTERY (coz im supposed to do WHAT with a battery to a droid x 2, when I have a blackberry bold 9650??) I call and ask what exactly is going on, they send me to a supervisor since I was demanding compensation for the fact that while *I* have done my part in paying my bill on time, considering all the down time I have had with non working phones, dropped calls, missed messages, freeze ups, 3 days (now 4) wasted waiting for FedEx to show up, etc, I get a 'supervisor' that informs me that hes doing me a FAVOR by "going out of the way" to give me something other then a blackberry, and was well into the way of telling me I WASNT going to get the droid x 2 and he was going to send me ANOTHER BLACKBERRY, when I pointed out, obviously the order was already cleared since I have the BATTERY that was sent to me. He continued making it sound like he was doing something "in my favor" and that he "wasnt supposed to do" by giving me a comparible phone, like the girl whom I already had talked to and had gotten a confirmation code on.
***What I want to know is, what is the ACTUAL POLICY on comparible devices after recieving X amount of broken refurbs? Ive been told that three is no longer correct. Was told in the store that 5+ was the "actual" comparible table. And this guy today tells me they DO NOT DO IT. EVER. ***
Part of the reason I cancelled my service to BEGIN with is I have been there for over five years. In the last year or so, customer service has just gotten pathetic and rude (I had a girl in the store say "Whatever" roll her eyes and walk away, last week). Service has went downhill, and the devices alone are just horrible! I havent been able to keep a phone from just shorting out or breaking past six months, and some have lasted 2 weeks, a few weeks, five days, 36 hours, etc. When I went to come back to verizon I had representatives make it HARD to come back. Im confused, do they want our service or not? Why are they telling me one thing in a store, one thing on the phone? I have held conversations with people that I now write downtheir name, number, time, date, office they are in, and most of the conversation, otherwise nothing ever gets accomplished and they try to weasel out of things that should be done like they were told to be.

    Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your problems.  I can relate, since I have a 9650 Bold that reboots on its own, whenever it gets a notion to do so.  Enough of my problem, I will see what I can do for you.  These forums are for the most part community forums, by which Verizon does not for the most part read these forums.  It is peer to peer.  However, in your case, I will see if I can get a Verizon employee to send you a Private Message here in these forums.  They will probably want to get in touch with you via telephone and they will give you some personal service.  Again, sorry about your problem.  Hang in there.

  • What does it mean exactly when the file quarantine feature warns you about unsafe file types?

It says here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3662 that "when you open a potentially unsafe file in Finder, Spotlight, or from the Dock, the file quarantine feature will warn you about unsafe file types. If you open a quarantined file, you will receive an alert asking, "Are you sure you want to open it?" You should click Cancel if you have any doubts about its safety."
Am I correct in thinking that when this ^ appears on the screen, it means the file you're trying to open is unsafe but not totally harmful to the Mac? Which means you can still open it and it won't be much of a problem?

If you know that you went to web site shown and downloaded the file shown at the date & time shown, then it's most probably exactly what you think it is.  If a panel pops up for some software that should NOT have been downloaded -- as in a file that's part of the operating system -- then all sorts of alarms should go off.  This is a classic technique for password grabbers -- you open something like Software Update and are completely expecting to have to type in the username and password of an account with Administrator priviledges, but if it is some nefarious program that you somehow downloaded and has substituted itself in the place of Software Update, then who knows where your password and username are going to get sent off to!  If you got a panel like that and it said "Software Update" is an application downloaded from the internet.  Or "Mail" is an application downloaded from the internet.  Or "TextEdit".  Big alarms!!!
This is why when you are downloading software you should  type in urls directly, or click on them from a search page rather than some random link in an email/ad/etc.  If I type get.adobe.com/flashplayer into the url bar on the browser then I know that I really went to adobe's web site and got the real flashplayer (unless something is REALLY wrong!).  When you click on some link it might be going to anyplace at all -- including places that you don't want to go!  This panel gives you one last chance to double-check that the file you are opening is what you think it is and it came from where you think it came from.

  • What is a sync exactly? (does it include photos?)

Newbie here and trying to get organized. What exactly is meant by "sync" and why is it that I can't sync my phone to my laptop while I am on the road.
Are photos completely excluded from a sync? I am traveling with an iPhoto Library on an external HD and my intention is to upload photos to this database from the phone. Won't any downloaded photos to my iPhone stay synced via MobileMe if I am basically still using the same database?
If I have previously synced my phone to my desktop - and am now organizing music on my laptop - can I sync the phone to the laptop now?
Will I lose all my Apps if I do this?
Does all the data from MobileMe stay completely independent of any of these computer syncs?

    Hi. Thanks.
Thanks for the clarification on MobileMe. My understanding is that you just have to keep Calendar and Contact sync off when syncing with iTunes if you use MobileMe. Whether to check Notes in iTunes is another question which I don't understand yet.
I think the part that I was missing was that you could transfer your Apps from your phone to the laptop and then sync to the laptop. This way you keep your Apps.
This way I can work on my iTunes Library on my laptop (which I have with me).
Since I am accessing my iPhoto Library off an external Hard Drive (it was copied from my desktop to the external hd) I have access to all my photo information if I need it on the phone.
    Thanks...

  • Recovery disc - what do they do exactly?? Help!

I have a Satellite P25 S507.  Had all sorts of problems to the point where I couldn't do anything.
I found my discs and ran them according to instructions (see below).  After 14 hours it said it
was finished and I removed the disc, hit "any key" and absolutely nothing happened.  I rebooted
and nothing happened.  What exactly was it supposed to "re-install"??  Any suggestions on what I should
do now??  Is my laptop just ready for the junkyard even though I hate the thought of that??
    Information:
The printed instructions included with the Recovery and Applications/Drivers Media disc are correct for most computer models. For some models, however -- including those listed above -- booting from the Recovery disc requires pressing the F12 key, rather than the 'C' key. The instructions below are correct for these models.
CAUTION: The Recovery process reformats the computer's hard disk drive, which completely erases its contents -- including all applications, all documents, and all other data stored on the drive. Be sure to back up your documents and other data before following the instructions below.
Follow these steps to erase the current contents of the hard disk drive and to re-install all of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured:
    1. With the computer on, insert the first Recovery disc into the optical drive.
    2. Shut down the computer (click the Start button, click Shut Down, select Shut Down, click OK).
    3. Press the computer's power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press and hold the F12 key. Release the F12 key when the menu of boot options appears.
    4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the CD/DVD option. Press the Enter key to select it.
The computer will restart, and will boot from the Recovery disc.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to start the Recovery process.
CAUTION: Once the Recovery process has begun, do not interrupt it.
The computer's hard drive will be formatted, erasing its contents. All of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured will then be re-installed.
    6. Once the Recovery process is complete, remove the Recovery disc, and press any key to restart the computer.

Figure out what brand of hard drive is installed.
Go to their website and download their self booting diagnostic utility.
Create the self booting disk and run it on your system to test the drive.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • What am I missing exactly?

Hello everyone, so I have coded this a couple of different ways and I am looking for the most efficient way of doing this (I'm new to PS so please bear with my incompetence -- I am going through PS training so one day I will be answering questions rather
    than asking them :) )
Essentially I need to be able to recurse a directory and log all files to a txt document when matched against an array. My code currently looks like this, however, it's not returning any results:
    $audioFileExtensions = @(".aac",".aif",".aiff",".asf",".asx",".au",".avi",".flac",".m3u",".m4a",".mid",".midi",".mov",".mp1",".mp2",".mp3",".mp4",".mpa",".mpe",".mpeg2",".mpeg3",".mpg",".ogg",".qt",".qtw",".ram",".rm",".mi",".mvb",".snd",".swf",".vob",".wav",".wax",".wma",".wmv",".wvx")
    Get-ChildItem -Path \\MHT-FS1\UserHomeDrives -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.Extension -contains $audioFileExtensions} | Select-Object FullName > C:\audioFileResults.txt
I've also created a forEach statement and although this works, it seems to be very inefficient and slow as it is looping through each item in the array and performing the recursive GCI method.
How would I best write this code to produce the results I am looking for in the most efficient manner?
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    G-

    Listen,
Your question tells everyone you are ignorant in PowerShell, because the solution is quite simple.
You declare yourself completely ignorant in REGEX, even though you suggest me to look into his REGEX example - don't you think you're to naive and stupid suggesting something you don't understand?
Look at his REGEX example: it's an abusive use of REGEX, because it' unnecessary! PowerShell will automatically convert it back to
    string!
And you dare to suggest me code from this rubbishell coder, after I posted almost 20 reasons why his code is rubbishel!
You should just shut your mouth up and cross your hands to not expose your low IQ and retarded mental maturity, thinking you are someone capable of suggesting anything to anyone (let alone about REGEX that I know more you and him together).
The fact that you posted in favor of him and against me, just shows you are one more idiot joining the rubbishell coders brotherhood!
Next time you think to advise someone, ask your parents first, or your brothers, sisters, husbands and wifes, and they'll tell you: '' hey little kid, it's not your business, so keep your huge curvy S out of this. ''
I suppose if I had the attitude you have I wouldn't have any friends; I say that because I've trolled your posts just because I was curious if you were really so cynical and as it turns out, you seem to make more enemies than friends. I'm really not
too sure why you feel it necessary to teach in such a mean-spirited way. Seriously, man, you're a smart dude act like one. Calling people idiots, stupid, ignorant (although I understand the English meaning of ignorant, it's not something you call people) and
the like... you will go no where in life no matter how smart you think you are. When you start putting yourself above others by degrading them, the only thing you are doing is putting yourself beneath them and you lose effectiveness with those you are trying
to teach. Once you lose effectiveness, you've lost communication. Once you've lost communication no one wants or has the desire to listen to you or your way of doing things any longer.
You can call me anything you want, I do not know you and I will not lose any sleep over your comments. I only wish I could get through to you so that maybe you can succeed in building relationships rather than destroying them. You may be smart, however, that
smart brain does not match your nasty behavior towards others. You may want to think about building your interpersonal skills rather than your PowerShell/coding skills; I can guarantee your personal skills will get you much further than your coding skills.
You're behavior seems to match that of a school yard bully and no one likes a bully.
Think about it. Think why are people so against me? What am I saying that offends them? How can I get people to like me and how can I spread my knowledge in a more effective way? How do I win friends and influence people? There's a book authored by
Dale Carnegie titled exactly that: "How to Win Friends and Influence People", perhaps you could take some time to read it and learn from it just as you read and learn from the help files associated with your preferred coding language.
Just a suggestion from one human to another and in no way insulting. You'll make the forums a much more pleasant place to come ask for help and learn from others -- such as yourself.
And last but not least... You were not born into PowerShell or coding, you began as a clean slate -- nothing on it, therefore, you had to learn through experience. Give people a break by easing up on them, no one knows as much as we all do. "Who am
I to tell you anything?" you once asked... well, I am someone, probably the only one here, that has your best interest in mind. Be kind to people.

  • What "factory setting" mean exactly?

Sorry if I post not in the right place,
But I need to know, I have friend that like to reinstall OS in her Tecra A6,
I saw she had 3 recovery discs.
When I tried, they said, recovery to default factory software..
I scared I make wrong choice, cause
I don't know exactly what the meaning is..
Is that to reinstall OS, only repair, or delete OS?.
If I already search in this forum with keyword default factory, but I don't get the answer..
    Thanks before
NB. Sorry with my bad English

    Hello Dawie
At first welcome to this forum and please don't worry about your English. Your posting is understandable and this is most important thing. My English is also not the best but I try to help other people in hope they will understand what I want to say. :)
Every Toshiba notebook is delivered with preinstalled operating system. This preinstalled OS is so called factory state. When you use delivered recovery CD/DVD for OS installation you will have absolutely the same factory settings that you get after first start.
When you start recovery procedure at first the HDD will be erased and new partitions created.
Last step is OS installation. Repair option with recovery installation is not possible.
For your info: recovery operation on older and newer notebooks is not the same. I cannot remember how it looks like on Tecra A6 but if you want to have exact explanation please explain me exactly what happen when you start recovery installation and which options are there.
Maybe you will see standard and expert recovery option. Please let me know.
Before you start recovery installation back up all important data.
I hope you understand now what factory settings/state means.
If you have more questions you are welcome.
    Bye and good luck!

  • What does the Zoom exactly do?

    Hallo,
I am just trying to find out the possibilities I have with Encore DVD 2.0. I am working with the german version, so please excuse me if I do not translate every label and every command correctly.
First goal is to produce a DVD showing some old paintings. The slideshow seems to be a good solution for that.
To bring in a little extra, the images should move at least a little bit. Therefore I'd like to use the panning and zooming capabilities of Encore DVD 2.0.
As far as I can see, the effects "pan" and "zoom" are done for the whole duration of a slide. If a slide is shown for 30 secs and has a zoom, the zoom will take 30 secs.
So if I want the image to not move for a while at the before or after the zoom, I have to insert extra slides without the zoom before and after the zoomed slide.
Lets say I insert a first slide, set its scaling to "scale and mask". Then I insert the same image as a second slide, same scaling, but with "zoom in". If I render this, the result is the image first stalling for the duration of the first slide, then getting zoomed. But it doesn't seem to be zoomed to 100% of the image (as if I would choose no scaling at all), its just zoomed to some amount.
Now if I want to add a third slide that is shows the image at the end of the zoom, I have to know how big it will be. Otherwise there will be a visible jump in size from the end of the second slide (the end of the zoom) to the third slide (still image of zoomed picture).
Does anybody know what the zoom exactly does? Is there a formula?
    Best regards,
    Christian Kirchhoff

  • Not sure WHAT the problem is exactly. . .

Okay, so here is the situation. I go through Qwest for our wireless internet service. The router for our service is upstairs in our two-story house. We have a few different electronic devices running off of the internet at any given time, including 2 iMac G5's, an Intel Based MacBook, a Wii, and a PC Laptop that my father uses downstairs occasionally.
Well, it SEEMS like our internet service is the most reliable when all but one device is turned off. What i mean by this is that our internet seems to be the most reliable when there is only one computer on at a time. Otherwise, when either my brother and I are using the internet simultaneously, or my computer is on and i get online with the Macbook, the internet will frequently cut in and out every 5 minutes.
We have contacted Qwest and had our router changed 3 times, and still we have the same results. I dont want to go through the hassle of a 4th router, and I thought it may have something to do with the computers themselves. What could be the problem? Are the macs running on some same frequency or something that could be causing the issue? Any help is deeply appreciated, for this problem is severely annoying.
Any information will be given if asked for.
    Thanks! ^^

"the internet will frequently cut in and out every 5 minutes."
TIP: Set your email client to check for emails every 5 minutes. This will "trick" your ISP into thinking that you are not idle.
I can't tell if you have cable or dial up service.

    • Create H.264 video
Use this codec for all your video encoding needs. Create content ranging in size from HD (high definition) to 3G (for mobile devices), and everything in between.
    • Create surround audio
Create a rich multimedia experience for your customers by adding multi-channel audio to your movie. If some of your customers don’t have surround speakers, don’t worry; QuickTime automatically mixes the audio to work with the speaker setup of each user.
    • Concurrent exports
Export multiple files at once—and continue with your next playback or editing task.
    • Improved movie authoring
Editing tasks are much easier with new hot keys for in and out points. In addition, the Movie Properties interface has been completely redesigned to facilitate simple and efficient movie authoring.
    • New AAC constant-quality mode
Create AAC audio files optimized for constant quality rather than a constant bit rate for a consistently high-quality listening experience.
    • Conform to Aperture
View a movie’s aperture mode, and choose to have the movie conform to new aperture settings, including pixel shape.
    • Deinterlace Source Video
When exporting with the Movie to QuickTime Movie option, you can now deinterlace the video by setting an option in Export Size settings.
    • 3G streaming

  • GP: Display Collable Object, what does it do exactly?

    Hi all,
does anyone remember what a Display Collable Object is good for? You can add it to an action (in addition to the Execution Callable Object).
So what is the purpose of the Display Collable Object?
Could it be, and that's my own guess, just any kind of CO you define, which will be performed when you return to the respective action, once you have finished it earlier?
And then, does it have access to any parameters in GP context?
I mean, if I use the same CO as Display CO and Execution CO and having them acccessing the same data, the display CO could serve as a history record of processed steps, right?
    Thx
    Xiaoi

    Hi Xiaoi,
    your suggestions are absolutely correct.
You should just take in mind, if you put the same CO, which you have attached in execute mode into the display mode and lets say it is a WebDynpro Comp. with process controls buttons (GP Interface), you will also see the buttons in the display mode (when returning to the executed step) and by pressing them, GP will through an error, because the object is already executed (=locked).
