What is default listener port of iphone for FTP connection

I have implemented one FTP connection code in iphone apps and FTP client like cyberduck, fillzila can connect to iphone using FTP. So i am confused about port. Which port should i use for connection FTP and iphone.
Can anybody pls tell me about port.

You might want to specify that as a proxyPort when building your own app.

What is default maxdb port

can you please tell me what is the default MaxDB port on which WAS connects. is it same for DQE DB on MaxDB or DQE service connects on different port.
actually I need that port while tring to unistalling EP6.0 sneak preview sp9 on maxdb.

try port 1521 or 1526. For uninstalling the Enterprise Portal port 1521 works.

How do you configure the set of port to use for FTP passive data connection

I was able to start the ftp server xml db and connect to it locally. When I tried to connect to it from home, I was able to log in but when i do a "get" command the sessions hangs. I also tried passive mode and do a "get" command and it gives me a connection refused error. I am using the default port 2100. I think this might be a firewall issue with the data connection port. I am not sure which range of ports to open for the passive ftp connection on the server side or where to go and set them for for the ftp server to use? Or this issue might not be firewall related??? Any thoughts. Thanks.

This is a typical problem with VPN/Firewall software and FTP on ports other than 21.
When you open the FTP data connection the FTP Server identifies which port the data will be sent on using the PORT command which is sent on the command port (typically 21 with a normal FTP server, 2100 by default with XDB). THe client then opens that PORT to accept the data (file, output of an ls etc).
As I understand it most VPN/Firewall are configured to monitor 21 for 'PORT' requests. They then understand to allow connection on the PORT number passed on the command PORT. Hence with Port 21 firewall / VPN software is not a problem. However since the XDB command PORT is something other than 21 they do not see / honour the PORT commands from the server and hence the client cannot open the data connection on the specified PORT
As to how to solve it, I wish I knew (After 5 years I still can't use XDB FTP from home to a machine in the office once the VPN tunnel is open :( ). I'm sure it's going to be firewall / VPN software specific and may need the VPN servers to be configured.
The best bet would be to run the FTP server on 21...
Add the following line to your listener.ora file

and then restart the listener as root

After the listener starts listening on all of its endpoints configured in listener.ora, it will switch to the specified user and group irreversibly. Therefore, the listener will give up the root privilege that it initially had. In the current release, -user and -group command line arguments only accept user and group identifiers specified in numeric form.

You can, but only if you have that privelege through your iPhone carrier. In the US, AT&T and Verizon both charge for the ability to do this. Not sure about Sprint. Some carriers in other countries allow it at no additional fee.

I cannot get my iPhone for to connect to wi fi?

I have a linksys wireless g range expander with no security. My mac works fine and the phone usually works on other routers but not on this one.
I have reset network settings, renewed lease and all I see is the IP address and the subnet mask and then sometimes it dissappears then comes back. nothing else like the router numbers,DNS, etc..... when I back out to choose the network to to conect to it looks like it is trying but nothing still no WIFI.
What can I do to make it work?

I've built somekind of advanced ftp server, and i would now like to add SSL or TLS on the server.
Implementing implicit SSL is easy. I used some SSL sockets, and everything was working fine.
But if i want to use TLS or explicit SSL, i have a problem.
With an SSL socket, any attemps to read/write with the streams initiate an handshake.
But an explicit SSL connection is done that way:
-> Connecting to myftpserver.com port 21
-> Connected to myftpserver.com
Server: Welcome to this nice ftp
Server: Enjoy this nice server
-> AUTH SSL
Server: 234 AUTH SSL successful
-> Now negociating SSL session...
So, as u can see, some data(welcome msg, AUTH SSL command, etc) are exchanged BEFORE the SSL negociation.
I dont know how to do that since "any attemps to read/write with the streams initiate an handshake"

What's wrong with my code then?You must make sure, before trying to send the first encrypted text, that both side are ready to negociate SSL.
I'm pretty sure your problem is about that.
Did you write both side (client and server) or only the client side?
Because if you are the author of the server side, you must also make sure the server will act as the server during the SSL negociation ( ((SSLSocket)s).setUseClientMode(false)).
So far, my understanding - based on my experimentation:
The client must ask to the server to start SSL communication, but MUST wait for the server to say it is ready before creating the SSL layer. This mean the client send - over the unencrypted communication - a command saying to the server: "i want to start to talk to you over SSL". Then the server answer "Ok, ,i'm ready". Then, and only then, the client create the SSL socket (over the already connected socket - as you seem to have done) and start the SSL negociation. By the way, it is not necessary to call SSLSocket.startNegotiate() explicitly, it will be called when sending the first block of data for the new SSL session.
I'm not sure if I made it clear. But I think the problem - the reason why you get the HandshakeException - is because the client try to negotiate SSL before the server is ready to accept SSL negotiation - maybe this should have been the only sentence of my answer ;-).
About the use of SSLContext; I feel that it only have value if you want to use your own customized X509TrustManager or X509KeyManager. For me, I found it very useful because my server certificate may not be valid as per the default validation algorithm. But basicly we can use the SSLContext the following way:

You can however, in theory, use any port. In practice though, it is not that simple. And can be kind of stupid not to use the default or registered ports.
Ports 0 to 1023 are well known ports. These should never be used by any other applications like the Listener. On many kernels, only a root process can open a well known port.
Ports 1024 through 49151 are (IANA) registered ports. See RFC4340 for the registration process details. And this is where the Oracle Listener is registered as port 1527 - despite Oracle for many years using 1521 instead.
Generally speaking, keep to the default or use the the registered port. Do not arbitrarily change port numbers.
Ports 49152 through 65535 are private or dynamic ports. You should not ever use a port in this range as a listening end point for an application.
Okay, so why use specific ports for specific applications?
It comes down to network management and network performance.
Use arbitrary ports, and you mess sophisticated network designs horrible around. You can cause a negative network impact for your application due to how QoS (quality of service) are implemented. You can run into firewalls. You are not supportting the network folk in managing the underlying network infrastructure properly, enabling them to support your network application as you expect it to be supported.
So do NOT simply change the Oracle Listener port number. And no - changing it does not "improve" security either.

I want to use Intermapper to monitor the health of my Oracle server. Which port should I have Intermapper watching? How do you monitor the health of your server?

Does Interapper have some guidance? If you're using the default listener port of 1521, you may be able to verify that the listener is up, but that doesn't mean that the database is up or accepting connections. Without actually logging in, I'm not sure what sort of monitoring you'd actually get...

Changing the listener port number in a cluster environment

Hello,
I have an Oracle 10g database on a Windows cluster environment with Oracle Fail safe. I am trying to change the default listener port number - these are the steps I have done to change the port number:
1) Take the listener offline via Oracle Fail safe
2) stop the original listener from the command line
3) change the port number in the listener.ora file & save
4) start the original listener
5) bring the listener online in Fail safe
6) register the listener in the database with ALTER SYSTEM SET LOCAL_LISTENER....
After all this, when i check the status of the listener via lsnrctl, i see that the new port number is used, however in the Fail safe administrator, I still see the default port 1521. How do I go about changing the port number so that Fail safe also registers the change?

I did troubleshooting to verify the group, but this just changed the port number back to the default in the listener.ora & tnsnames.ora.
So I did all the steps again to change the port number from the default to another - via lsnrctl status, i see that the new port number is being used, I can also log in to the database via Toad using the new port number, in v$parameter i see that the local_listener is registered on the new port number....only under the Fail Safe manager, the port number (under listener parameter) has not changed....it still shows the default port number. Anyone know how to change this???
