What is Develop that suddenly appears in menu after 3.1 update?

After an automatic upgrade through Software Update, Adobe Reader doesn't work right. According to Adobe, it is current. Something called Develop appeared in the menu and something called DeBug disappeared. I can find nothing to explain these happenings. No directions as to their use. Could someone please explain? There always seems to be errors in opening web pages although most of the time the pages do load. I use Disk Utility religiously. I suddenly had Safari tell me that a security check was going to be needed. Never happened before so I said okay but then a window said I had to download a program and the certificate was expired. I refused permission to allow. It quit. I have never had a problem with 10.+ until now. I spent three hours going through forum messages and could not find anything about Develop or DeBug. Help, please.

Develop replaced the Debug menu that was always there in Safari 3.0.4 but had to be activated from Terminal or via a third party application. Now it's easier.
From Safari's Help menu:
The Develop menu provides tools for web developers creating websites for Safari and Mac OS X.
NOTE: If the Develop menu does not appear in the menu bar, open Safari preferences, click the Advanced tab, and select “Show Develop menu in menu bar.”
The Develop menu options are:
Open Page With: Lets you open the displayed webpage using a different web browser on your computer. All web browsers on your computer are listed in the submenu.
User Agent: Lets you change how your web browser is identified by the web server. Use this option to “spoof” the web server into thinking that you’re using a web browser other than Safari, to investigate whether the server is providing different content to different web browsers.
Show Web Inspector: Opens the Web Inspector. The Web Inspector lists the categories of resources found on a webpage, such as documents, style sheets, and scripts. It lets you view and search the page’s source code, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) information, DOM trees, visual DOM metrics, and DOM properties. The Web Inspector also contains the error console and network timeline.
Show Error Console: Opens the Web Inspector’s display of HTML and XML syntax errors and warnings. The error console also displays JavaScript errors output from console.log, console.error, and console.warn.
Show Network Timeline: Opens the Web Inspector’s timeline of when your page’s subresources were loaded. This is useful for investigating how to improve the speed at which your webpage loads.
Show Snippet Editor: Opens a window you can use to quickly test small fragments of HTML, without requiring you to open an entire webpage.
Disable Caches: Causes Safari to retrieve a subresource from the web server each time the subresource is accessed, rather than using a cached copy.
Disable Images: Causes Safari to show the alternate content where images would be. This is useful for making sure your webpage has appropriate alternate content.
Disable Styles: Causes Safari to ignore all Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) styles. This is useful for investigating some types of page layout problems on your website. If you have a style sheet set in Safari advanced preferences, it continues to be used.
Disable JavaScript: Causes Safari to ignore all JavaScript. This is useful for investigating certain problems with how parts of websites behave, and for testing how a website performs on web browsers that don’t support JavaScript or have JavaScript disabled. You can also turn JavaScript off and on in the Safari security preferences.
Disable Runaway JavaScript Timer: The Runaway JavaScript Timer is used to interrupt the execution of very slow JavaScripts, so you can regain control of Safari. Disabling it is useful for some types of automated testing.
Disable Site Specific Hacks: Some versions of Safari contain special-case code that allows certain webpages to behave normally while Apple engineers work with you to find a better long-term solution. This option turns off that special-case code, so you can test your long-term solutions.

The only way a file of this kind (ie., crack for software) to appear is no mystery. Someone who used your machine had to have downloaded it....
Actually, that isn't entirely correct. Some BitTorrent clients have security holes that will allow a miscreant to push a file onto a user's computer as part of the bit stream. Once there, it becomes available for download by others for as long as the file remains on the computer and the computer remains connected to the BitTorrent network.
If you do a lot of file-swapping you're going to end up downloading something that causes problems for you sooner or later and using an insecure BitTorrent client is a very good way to have your computer violated. At the very least, use one that allows filtering rules and use the bad file and IP address lists to reduce the risk.
Your absolutely corrent. I forgot about this when I was reading up when "bittorrents" starting coming into mainstream.
Good catch and good point. I guess if you 'have' to use these things a good thing to do is check files created or modified to see if anything got pushed to your machine.
But regardless someone on your machine at least used a torrent downloader to download some sort of files (good/bad/pirated/whichever) and it got placed there. They still don't mysteriously show up, they showed up due to something a user did (even if it's downloading something else and having a file pushed without your knowledge).
Good rule, buy software and don't cheat the system. (need to take my own advice sometimes LOL)

  • How can I get rid of "myV9" that suddenly appeared the other day when I started Firefox?

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Until now I have had only Google as start page from Firefox. Of course I can click on the Google icon to get there, but it is the only site that I want to use of all these. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. How can I get rid of "myv9"?
Even if it doesn´t harm my computer, I am afraid that it will slow it down, and, besides, it needs an extra click to get to Google.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • How do I get the "Bitdefender Quick Scan" box that suddenly appeared uninvited on the lower right coner of my screen to disappear??

A non-movable black box with "Bitdefender Quick Scan" "you haven't scanned your computer in a while. Would you like to start QuickScan now? appeared at the bottom right corner of my screen. How do I remove it?

Your system details list shows a "Bitdefender QuickScan Web Netscape Plugin", so you must have or had Bitdefender software installed.
You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of enabled installed plugins on the about:plugins page.

It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers via the navigator.plugins object, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started.

  • Is it possible to disable "whats new" page that shows up every time Firefox has been updated

Any time Firefox has been updated, there is a "What's new" tab. Firefox updates too often for this page to be interesting. Now it's just plain annoying.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to stop that page from loading.
EDIT: Found this after posting. May or may not work.
The purpose of the page is to keep users informed. For example, do you know the reason(s) for the upgrades to versions 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 (also 3.6.21 and 3.6.22)? Many/most users do not.
Plus, one click to close the tab isn't too much effort, is it?

  • How can I drag and drop lectures within an itunes U album so that they appear in order after syncing with my iphone?

Whenever I download audio iTunes U lectures, they don't show up in the order in which they were recorded and therefore do not sync in order on my iphone.  There is no sorting option to sort by date recorded.  All I want to do is drag and drop the individual lectures to their proper location so that they will be in order by recording date.  Anyone have the secret?
    Kristy P-S

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

  • Iphone 3G not appearing in Itunes after 4.1 update.

I'm having this problem with my Iphone 3G. I updated to 4.1 and i was going to sync all my apps and music when my iphone wouldn't appear in itunes. I've tried everything restarting my computer and everything i think it is that the ipod services and itunes helper are not running but when i try to turn them on they fail. can anyone help?

I'm having a similar problem. I was running the same update. Not only does I-Tunes fail to recognize my I-Phone, my I-Phone is not operable. It just displays the moving circular icon in the middle of a black screen, as if it's doing something. What a drag.

  • Windows 8 crashes and is stuck in blue screen help menu after trying to update to 8.1?

Hi all, after recieving a prompt yesterday by windows to update to 8.1 (about time!), I turned on my computer this morning to see that it was stuck on the HP boot logo. After 5-10 mins, I realised it must have started incorrectly so i shut it back down and booted it up again. After the boot logo passed, the windows 8 symbol appeared with "updating your system" or something along those lines. I let it there for a while (20 mins) then when I returned it said that the installation had faield and was "returning to previous version of windows" One thing led to another and when the computer restarted again, I am now stuck with the blue screen troubleshooting menu. Yes, this would be easy to fix by a refresh BUT... It says to enter the password for Admin, the non-existent admin account with a required password?I tried the start-up settings, but that just creates another blue screen of death. How am I to bypass the password and actually access my computer? Even if I were to delete everything? There is a cmd option... Anyone know any commands that would be appropriate? Thanks in advance, Josh

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  The first thing you will want to check is if there are any issues with the hard drive you put in.  Run the BIOS diagnostics for the hard drive and the hard ware to make sure there are no issues. HP Notebook PCs - System Diagnostics (F2) And. HP Notebook PCs - Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS Please let me know how things go. Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • IPhone not appearing in iTunes after 3.1 update

Hi everyone....I went to update to the 3.1 OS for my iPhone 3G but during the update it got stuck at the "connect to iTunes". I have uninstalled iTunes and AMD services multiple times. I managed to restore the phone but after the restore it doesn't appear in iTunes and the screen is now stuck at "emergency call" now and "connect to iTunes" and can not restore my back up data. My computer doesn't seem to recognize my phone at all but does recognize my iPod touch. If anyone has any sugestions on how to get it to work I would appreciate it because I really need to get my phone working properly.

I'm having a similar problem. I was running the same update. Not only does I-Tunes fail to recognize my I-Phone, my I-Phone is not operable. It just displays the moving circular icon in the middle of a black screen, as if it's doing something. What a drag.

  • Iphone 5S stuck on "connect to itunes menu" after installing new update!!!! HELP

So I'll make this simple. I hadn't updated neither my 5S nor my itunes for a while so I decided to do both of them together after doing my monthly backup. I did it whent on well. Then the phone restarted and now it shows the connect to itunes button (the itunes sign and the charger cable below it). My Itunes does not recognise my phone. My phone was on at the time of the restart and its the first time I update my phone like this. Usually I just do it from the settings menu in the phone. Please tell me how to easily fix it! Thanks so much.

Thank you for all that... But I tried everything! I checked everthying on these lists, I even reinstalled my itunes. And now I have the same problem. It still doesn't show any sign of being there on itunes. But each time I reconnect it to my computer, my computer makes the connecting usb sound. So it sees it but doesn't recongnise/display it.
Another thing, when I wanted to import pics and vids to my pc, when i'd plug my phone it, it would open a little window asking how I wanted to open it. But just before all this happened the window didn't show up so I had to put the 5 videos I wanted to get to my computer trough youtube.

  • IPhone not appearing on iTunes after IOS 5 update

After installing IOS 5 iTunes update the computer asked to re-start my PC.  I beleive that my connected iPhone 3GS was still updating so, when the computer re-started, the update to the phone terminated.  After re-booting iTunes has been updated but my iPhone just has the image of the USB cable and the iTunes logo on it.  Nothing I now do makes the iPhone appear on the iTunes directory.  I have successfully installed the new firmware onto another iPhone 3GS but the original phone is unresponsive.  Anyone know how to install the software onto the phone when it doesn't appear on the iTunes directory?

i have the same problem. although my mac didnt ask for restart, installation stopped half way through the updating, and it comes up with unknown error 1 , once ive managed to exit recovery mode( the usb and itunes logo) apple logo appears, and then its loading and THEN ITS TURNING ITSELF OFF and ON - > after that apple apears - loading... and yeah goes in circles.
I've tried to restore previous copy but itunes wont let me do it anymore, it comes up with an error.
I've edited hosts, and it's still not working.
    ... any ideas anyone?
