What is meant by the "other" segment in my ipod's summary bar?

My iPod 's memory is full but I noticed that a lot of it is taken up by "other" (1.47GB) I wondered what that is or if I can delete it somehow. My iPod is only 8GB so i need the space for music. I don't have many apps or photos and have deleted what I can. Please help.

The "other"includes thing not included in the other listed categories. Like music artwork and some app stuff.
An "other" largeer than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Hi,  This was not what I meant.     The requirement is:      Drag and drop any one of specific list

    Hi,
This was not what I meant.
    The requirement is:
Drag and drop any one of specific list of components say x, y,z in the parsys
Only after the drag and drop of these components other components can be dragged to the parsys. So we can say that the parsys should allow only the specific components to be added first and only after that other components can be added.
    Thanks ,
    Dipti

    Hi there
I'm guessing that you mean to ask if one is able to force a user to perform a drag-and-drop as part of a simulation?
Unless you program it in Flash or some other application it isn't avaiable. Check the link below for more.

More then one, of "something". So if the "active" fails, then the "backup" can take over. Depending on exactly what we are talking about, then possibly both can be active at the same time,
sharing the load, and if one fails then the one remaining will do the full load itself.
Thing "something" can be a wide variety of things, since at power agg, disk, network connection, a whole server, a whole disk subsystem, etc. The details regarding architecture etc depends on exactly what
    this "something" is.

  • How do you find out what information is in the 'other' section of itunes when iphone is connected

How do you find out what information is in the 'other' section on the bottom of itunes

    You don't
If it is much more than a gb or so, then it indicates corrupt files.  A restore should resolve.

  • What means the "OTHER" category on my iPod ?

What means the OTHER category on my iPod Touch 4th Gen ?
Because it take A LOTS of my stockage... ~7.5GB / 32GB...

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A  ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

    Hi, just about everything else...
OmniDiskSweeper is likely the easiest/best, and is now free...

And if needed, you can use Terminal to run it in admin mode to see files/folders your user can't see...

  • What is the "other" data on my ipod after i updated my os

what is the "other" data on my ipod after i updated my os? and can i remove it? and how do i pair up devices via bluetooth?

    Hi
First, the "Others" what you see in iTunes when you're iDevice was plugged in, is where the iOS installed. It's the system core of your iDevice.
2nd - That ia hevn't used before, bluetooth pairing. The last time I tested it, I failed.
and now you're not the only one who needs help in bluetooth pairing, LOL...

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

You can only uncheck the cell phone number. The only way to delete it is to use for FaceTime and Messages an Apple ID not associated with the iPhone.

  • Am trying to figure out how to use the other section in my ipod touch?

I have filled up the music and video sections of my ipod touch. An am trying to figure out if i can use the other section to load movies(how would i format that section or us that toward more movies?

Hi ghost ninja: The "other" section on your iPod Touch is most likely your operating system. Probably not a good idea to get rid of it.

  • What is stored in the other category for space?

I am showing a lot of space consumed under the other category when using iTunes.  What is consuming all this space?

    Hello ih82work
Other is comprised of Settings, Siri voices, and other system data is what is typically stored there. Also keep in mind that it may have data that may have been partially download or synced across of iTunes and potentially interrupted.

  • What is including in the other section of my memory and how do I manage it?

I'm running out of memory and I can't seem to find out what is in the section labeled as other when I connect the Ipad to itunes. Can anyone help?

that other folder is files sync'd from your pc but are not readable by the device. so try this but understand its a complete data loss and your backup will have the "other folder"  so must be set up as new.  as far a permanent fix buy a mac computer and dont sync with windows
    recovery mode
    open itunes on computer
plug cable into computer not phone
    turn phone off
hold home button and plug cable into phone.  do not release home button until an itunes graphic appears on device.
look to computer should have message about recovery mode click ok and restore

  • What items are in the "other" category on the iPad

What is in the "other" category on the iPad (i.e., there is audio, photos, etc.) and the end, there is an "other" tab.  These tabs show how much space you are using.  My "other" category is showing 8GB used.  Have no idea what that is, but it is taking up all my space on my ipad..  Thank you

See this document for a comprehensive list of what is in Other and how to deal with it.

  • HT1386 what is included in the other section of the iphone and how do you reduceit

while syncing my iphone 4s the "other" section on the bar at the bottom jumped up to take up 5.42 gb out of no where. what is in this section and how do i remove things from there?

The "other" is normally <1 GB, and includes the iOS, app data, messages and email.  If it expands, this usually means ther is either corrupted data or metadat (file system errors) in the phone.
To fix, Restore the phone, first using a backup and if needed as new (without using a backup)
