What is the best way to access my address book

Should i use the Doc, or the link

Are you talking about your Address Book application? Its icon should be in your Dock — just click that. I've no idea what "link" you're talking about.

    Hi,
if you don't have a binding the I am not sure the binding context is created. Anyway, try
BindingContext.getCurrent().findDataControl("name here as ID in DataBindings.cpx") and see if it returns a valid instance

    Hello,
I have OS X version 10.6.8. What is the best way to access to lion?

You obtain Lion by purchasing, then downloading and installing it over the internet from the Apple App Store.
    Hope this helps

  • What's the best way to access internet

I have a desktop with DSL, in my workroom. With my Powerbook, I want to access the internet from various places in my apartment. I guess this means wireless, correct? Otherwise I'd need to have a really long cord connecting to my DSL, yes? So what do I need and will I really be able to access the net from any room? The Airport bus doesn't have enough ports, altho if it's the best way, I'm open.

I don't know what the AppleCare guy was talking about. This is a quote from the Apple Store Online information about the Airport Base Station"
"Using the AirPort Extreme Base Station, up to 50 users can work and play on the Internet simultaneously up to 150 feet away from the base station. "
You only need one "port" to plug your cable or DSL modem, with an Ethernet cable, into the base station. The computers connect wirelessly, using their internal Airport cards. (I am assuming you have Airport cards in your computers, as without them, you can't do anything wirelessly.)
If you have fewer than 50 computers, and you're not planning on sitting more than 150 feet from the base station, you should pretty much be able to go online, print, and network wirelessly from almost anywhere in your home or office. Add a second base station or an Airport Express base station, and you can extend that range.
As was stated above, there are some factors that interfere with the wireless connection (steel walls, etc.) but such issues are rare and can usually be fixed by moving the location of your base station.
By the way, if you only need to connect 10 or fewer computers, I'd go for the Airport Express. It can be connected to your home stereo, so you can wirelessly play your iTunes from your computer over your sound system, as well as do all of the other things you can do with a regular Airport Base Station. It's a great feature.
I just got an Airport Express, but before that, I used a NETGEAR wireless router. It was a lot cheaper than an Airport Base Station ($50 vs. $199!!!!) and it works flawlessly with my laptops and Airport cards.
So, unless you NEED an Airport Base Station, or want the Air Tunes capabilities of the Airport Express, I'd go for a third-party router, such as a NETGEAR, or a Linksys.
By the way, my NETGEAR allows me to hard-wire up to 4 computers to the router and also use several other computers wirelessly. If you need to do something like that, again, a third-party router is a better bet. You can also get non-wireless routers, but then you'd be chained to a specific location whe you surfed the web. What's the fun in that?

  • What is the best way to share a photo book?

Here is my situation: I have created a photo book on my iMac and want my wife to be able to view and edit on her MacBook Pro while we are away on vacation. Is there a way I can move the book from my iPhoto collection to hers? I am hoping there is a way to export or copy. I originally thought of "sharing," but I have not been able get Finder to show the shared fields. I'm running the newest SL SW. Please help!

There is no way to share a book with another Library or user.
The best you can do is copy the Library containing the book to her Mac. She can then open it - Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' - and you can work on it from that.

  • What is the best way to connect a mac book air to 27 inch acer display?

I am currently connecting through a USB docking station and the monitor flickers.  I am unable to view a slideshow on the display in Keynote due to VRAM possibly being low.  Slideshow works fine on the Air.

I want to buy a hard disk (not a NAS device) and plug it into my Airport Extreme in order to share data between two Mac computers, and to stream iTunes content to my Apple TV.
One option is to purchase a hard drive (say, a 2TB Hitachi G-Technology drive) and connect it to the USB port on the back of the Apple Extreme. The other option is to purchase a drive with an ethernet connection (say, a 2TB Lacie drive) and connect it to an ethernet port on the Apple Extreme.
In the second case what you'd have actually is a NAS. Apple's AirPort routers aren't known for fast file sharing. The NAS option might be faster.
Is either option better for streaming movies from the hard drive to my Apple TV?
I could be wrong, but an AppleTV may not be able to access content directly from a network drive. It may require that a Mac serve as an intermediary.

  • What is the "best" way to configure iTunes on an iMac with personal user acounts so each user can access the media library but sync devices on their personal user account?

I am trying to determine the best way to set up our imac so each user account can access the same media (songs, movies etc.) through itunes and also back up and manage their personal devices under their own personal user account.  There are 4 users on our iMac.  Me, my wife, and our 2 children.  We have built an extensive library of music/media together using the same iTunes store account.  I would like to establish a seperate apple id and iTunes store account for each of us going forward but have the ability for each of us to share our purchases.  What is the best way to configure our system and devices in order to allow shared access to media and at the same time allow for individual management of devices including contacts, apps, photos, etc. Please help, I would like to do this once!
    Thank you in advance!

OK, seeing as no-one replied (presumably because a lot of this information is on the forums in bits elsewhere) here's how I've got on so far.
Applications - just went through them.  About the only one I needed was my media server app.  Just downloaded and re-installed, had a quick look back though my email to find the license key and it all went on fine.  Installation never seemed quite right on my old machine so solved that problem too.
Movies - New iMovies just copied across the clips and projects into their respective folders.  Seems to have worked but haven't checked it all that thoroughly.  Some duplicate footage here but I can trim this out at some point when I get a chance to go through here.
Documents - Just copied these across.
Photos - used an app called iPhoto Library Manager.  You can download for free but have to pay to use the part that consolidates your libraries.  Possibly if I was willing to spend a bit more time I could have got away without using this but given I didn't know the state of my different libraries and just how many duplicates I had this was too much of a convenience to ignore.  Also got my library into a state where I can now spend a few hours organising it a bit better with Faces / Events etc.
Not attempted Music or iPhone sync yet as been stuck trying to solve a problem with my power adapter.

  • I recently added my old mac hard drive to a new macbook with an SSD as my main OSX drive.  I am having trouble with permissions in viewing my old hard drive.  What is the best way to get complete access to my old hd installed in my new Macbook?

I recently added my old mac hard drive to a new macbook with an SSD as my main OSX drive. I am having trouble with permissions in viewing my old hard drive, when I save a permission when I reboot the full access is changed again .  What is the best way to get complete access to my old hd installed in my new Macbook?

Open the Get Info window for the old drive. Click the Lock icon on the bottom of that window and type in your password. In the permissions area click the Plus sign ( + ) and Add your Username to it and set it to Read & Write. Close that window. you should now have full access to all the files.

When you export the videos out of iPhoto be sure to select Kind = Original.  Otherwise you'll just get an image file of the first frame of the video.

  • Using Microsoft Exchange to access Gmail (Google Apps for Business) contacts, what is the best way to sync the Corporate Directory?

Using Microsoft Exchange to access Gmail (Google Apps for Business) contacts, what is the best way to sync the Corporate Directory? For instance, we have 40 staff members and wish to populate each phone with the Gmail profile. Right now we have a third party Android app that does this and copies my contacts to each phone. This is problematic. Any solutions to populate a phone with email and phone contacts? Even it it requires double entry for me...thats ok.

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.
One day SL will be better than Leo, but...
    I'd ask over in server...

    Or perhaps Collaboration Services...

They may even have a different opinion on SL.

  • What is the best way to remotely access my sister in laws Mac who lives in another city to help her with her computer problems?

    as stated above
What is the best way to remotely access my sister in laws Mac who lives in another city to help her with her computer problems?

The best way? Get her to bring it to you, especially if she makes good cakes.
Apples Back to my Mac isn't really suitable for this - it is designed for a single person who wants their Apple ID on the system. It would mean she would have to share hers with you & you would also have to setup her Apple ID on your Mac - it is messy & causes trouble with iCloud, iTunes etc.
You can try Messages if she is able to begin a session with you, see the 'invite to share screen' in the menus, weirdly you need to use a service that isn't from Apple.
    Messages (Mavericks): Share your screen
It may be better if you to setup LogMeIn or GoToMyPC. They should 'dial out' & maintain a constant connection so you can login whenever the Mac is powered up. It won't, require a human to initiate the process at the other end, just be aware that the router may cause issues depending on what is configured, you may need settings to enable automatic port forwarding - it really depend on which option you choose.

  • What is the best way or best practise to access the session scoped component in servelt pipeline?

    Hi Experts,
What is the best way or best practise to access the session scoped component in servelt pipeline?
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    ankV

To resolve components in the session scope you should be using DynamoHttpServletRequest.resolveName(). And of course the DynamoHttpServletRequest can also be used to resolve global and request scoped components so it is pretty handy to use. You can get the DynamoHttpServletRequest request associated with the current thread from ServletUtil.getCurrentRequest().
You can also reference a session scoped component from another session (or request) scoped component's property file. E.g. to access profile component (which is session scoped) from your custom session scoped component you would typically do this:
    $class=com.company.MyCustomComponent
    $scope=session
    profile=/atg/userprofiling/Profile
