What is the difference between the App Store...

Hello-
There is  an App Store on my MacBook Pro and an App Store in iTunes.  What is the difference?  Are the Apps sole in the App Store on the MBP updated behind the scenes and are they the Apps you use for the iPhone?  Or are they just Apps for the MacBook Pro?
TXS!

There is no PM feature here. The forum is not a chat venue, rather a place to post technical questions related to the use of Apple products.
Rarely would you get bullied except by a user who has not yet been chastized for doing so. You're supposed to be treated properly here.
When a purchased app (free or paid) has an update posted you are notified. For the MAS the notification is through the App Store. Of iTunes it's via the iTunes application as well as by your iDevice's App Store app. Updates are typically free. Thereafter, the one sold will be the newly updated version. In this way one always gets the latest version of the software.
Sorry, but I don't recall that I said software is not regularly updated. As for the applications included as part of OS X they are updated when the OS is updated.

  • What's the difference between mac app store, app store, iTunes store?

what's the difference between mac app store, app store and whatever itunes stores out there?

If you saying that the App Store on my phone and the App Store section of itunes on my computer are the same store,
    It is.
could you please be kind enough to show me how to reach the 724 apps on my computer (just to look at, not to buy) that I get on my iPhone when I type: "chinese transla".
If I search the iTunes Store for "chinese translation", I get dozens of apps listed. Make sure you're searching the iTunes Store, not your library. The search box should say "search store". Also confirm that both your iPhone and iTunes on your computer are pointed to the same country's iTunes Store. Different countries' stores carry different items, so it's possible your computer is pointed to a different country's store. Look at the bottom of the iTunes window and make sure the round flag icon is the one for your country.
Maybe the App Shopper has all the same apps that are on my phone?  I just looked, they say they have 1,000 apps.  Is this a safe site to buy from?
App Shopper is not a store. The only store you can buy iPhone apps from is the iTunes Store. App Shopper is just a compendium site that lists apps that are available in the iTunes Store. When you click to buy an app, you're taken to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Is there a difference between apple app store and the mac app store

i keep hearing about the mac app store, is there a difference between that and the regualr app store i use for iphone

Depends upon to whom you are speaking. There is the iTunes Store, sometimes called the App Store, from which Apple vends apps for iPhones, iPads, and iPods. Then there is the Mac App Store, MAS, also sometimes referred to as the App Store rather than the Mac App Store where Apple vends software for Mac computers.

  • What is the difference between the iPhoto that came pre-downloaded on my MacBook and the iPhoto available for download on the App Store?

I have had my MacBook for 5 years and ever since upgrading to the new system which added the App Store to my computer, I have been curious about the difference between the iPhoto that came pre-downloaded when I purchased my computer 5 years ago and the iPhoto available for purchase on the App Store. What makes the iPhoto from the App Store so different that I have to pay $15 for it, when I already have it for free on my computer?

Lots and lots of new features - and since you have upgraded to Mavericks much better operation
For information on what has changed there are many. many reviews on the web as well os a writup on the App store recapping the new features of the latest version vs the previous version
as to your choice - totally personal - do or don't - you choose - it does no involve anyone here in any way

  • What is the relationship between iCloud and the App Store?

My wife has an ipad and has purchased some apps from the App Store.  I have a new iphone5c and managed to load one of her purchased apps onto my phone by using her App Store ID and password.  When I did this, a cloud symbol appeared and I assume I was not charged for the download.  I have some questions about how all this works.
I have not, to my knowledge, set up any icloud account for my new iphone.  Did aforementioned app download from her icloud?
Does this mean that I should not set up an icloud account of my own on my new phone?  What about backing up my contacts?  I would like to continue sharing purchased apps.
Can you use the same icloud account on more than one device?  If so, would they have to have identical contacts and apps?
My wife also has a new phone; should she set up another icloud account?
Is my Apple ID related to either the icloud or App Store?
If anyone can help me sort this out it would be greatly appreciated.

ICloud and the App/iTunes Store are different services from Apple, you can use either by logging in with an Apple ID, you don't need to use the same ID for all services on the same device.
You can both share an ID for the iTunes and App stores so you can share purchased content but each use different ID's for iCloud, so you have your own contacts, calendars etc. you can use the same ID on more than one device.

  • Difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver

    Hi all,
How to get connection pooling with out application server and tomcat also?
What is the difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver supported connection pooling?
    Regards,
    Murali

maybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad.

  • Can you drop iOS 4 support for an app already in the App Store? What iOS version is good to target?

Now that AIR supports the MinimumOSVersion key, apps can set a specific minium version they will support. It wasn't available before, so it ended up in the app store with the default of 4.0.
Any device that AIR supported had to have ARMv7 anyways and I believe all ARMv7 iOS devices can update to at least 5.1.1, so would it be an issue with apple to drop iOS 4 support? Any device that could get the app before can upgrade to iOS 5+ for free to support it.
Only a small portion of people are still running iOS 4, and I get the feeling that most of those are folks with ancient ARMv6 devices that can't upgrade past iOS 4 and could never use the app anyways due to ARMv6. So why bother with testing for iOS 4 and possibly having to give iOS 4 related tech support?
If supporting 5+, is it a good idea to target 5.0 or 5.0.1 or 5.1 or 5.1.1 or what?

Any of the non-user generated resources is in the tmp or Cache folders (which are not backed up) on mine, so that shouldn't be an issue in my case.
I looked at the wiki for iOS 5 and i didn't see any developer-related features other than that 'do not back up' thing that were added between sub-versions of iOS 5, so maybe I should target 5.0?
I'm still wondering, how do you handle dropping older versions of iOS? Surly developers can't be expected to maintain support for discontinued versions of iOS forever just because their app has been around for awhile? Apps eventually need to advance and use new OS features and require performance of current devices. Just set the MinimumOSVersion key to 5.0 or whatever and that's it?

  • Ok so we bought an ipodtouch for my daughter and when she connected to the computer all of a sudden she lost all her pics and she can no longer connect to the app store on  her ipod.. any suggestions why and what can be done?

ok so we bought an ipod touch for my daughter and when she connected it to the computer after she downloaded itunes, she was asked if it was her ipod or a new one, so she clicked on her ipod and lost all her recent pics plus is unable to locate the app store on her safari on her ipod touch. any suggestions as to what went wrong or what should be done ? should we restore or what?
much appreciated if there is anyone else who had this happen to them.

    - The iPod got erased since it sounds iTunes identified that the iPod has been synced with another computer and she said yes to making this computer her syncing computer. It could also she restored the iPod from the backup of another iPod, iPhone or iPad that was in iTunes. If in iTunes you go to Preferences>Devices is there a backup listed for her iPod with a date/time when she first connected the iPod to the computer. If so then restore the iPod from that backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Note synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup,
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Regarding the App store. The App store is not in Safari. It is a separate app. Also, could the Apple store be hidden by Restrictions? Settings>General>Restrictions. Further, can you find the App store via the Spotlight search on the iPod?

  • My rue la la app for ipad suddenly dosent work so I deleted it now when I try to reinstall it the app store says that it not available in the us. It is still on my Iphone and working properly. What is this all about?

My rue la la app for ipad stopped working. I deleted the app and tried to reinstall it,  it is no longer available in the app store and when I research it on safari and find it when i try to install it says that it is not available in the us store. What is that all about?

My app did the exact same thing. It is still unavailable on the App Store and when Rue La La's site directs you to download their app, the "not available in the U.S. message appears. This happened to me last night. The app wasn't working, I deleted it and was just going to reinstall but was unable to find the app. I figured it was some glitch but I have tried multiple times this afternoon to no avail.

  • Hello i have what i think is a first generation Ipod touch which didn't not come with the app store on it already does this mean I cant get apps for my Ipod touch?

Hello i have what I think is a first generation Ipod touch which did not come with the App store already downloaded onto it, can I not download apps to my Ipod touch?

If you have a 1G iPod you can update to as far as 3.1.3.  Yu get hat paid update here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
You can identofy your iPod here:
    Identifying iPod models
What iOS is curently on your iPod (Setting>Genral>About>Version) you need as lest 2.0 for apps but most apps need 3.0 or later.

  • When i try to update my apps from the app store some of the apps wont update and ask for an Apple ID that isn't mine. Whats the problem and how do i fix it?

When i try to update my apps from the app store some of the apps wont update and ask for an Apple ID that isn't mine. Whats the problem and how do i fix it? All im trying to do is update my apps and its asking for these random apple ID's.

The apps were purchased by another user with a different Apple ID. You will have to erase them and repurchase them using your Apple ID.

  • HT4484 I have changed my apple I'd but am having a problem with iCloud and the App Store accepting the changed I'd what do I do?

I changed my apple I'd  but the App Store and iCloud are still using my old ID. What do I do to get them to use my new Id?

An iCloud acount is tied to the Apple ID, if you have created a new Apple ID then you will need to create a new iCloud account.

    https://www.apple.com/support/icloud/account/
All content that you bought using the old Apple ID is forever tied to that ID can only be redownloaded, updated and access using that Apple ID. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another and Apple does not merge Apple IDs.
