What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server?

Hello MS,
I would like to export all tables from Oracle 11.2 to MS SQL Server 2012 R1.
Using the tool "Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant v6.0 for Oracle" did not work for me because there are too many warnings and errors regarding the schema creation (MS cannot know it because they are not the schema designer). My idea is
to leave/skip the schema creation to the application designer/supplier and instead concentrate on the Oracle data export and MS SQL data import.
What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server quickly?
Is it:
- the „MS SQL Import and Export Data“ Tool
- the “MS SQL Integration Services” Tool
- not Oracle dump *.dmp format because it is a propritery binary format
- flat file *.csv (delimited format)
Thanks!

Hi lingodingo,
If you want to directly export all tables from Oracle database to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Because you just need to follow the wizard with GUI, this is the easiest way.
If you want to make some modification for the tables‘ data before loading to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Integration Services package. For more details, please refer to the following similar thread:

  • What's the easiest way to select all my files from all the folders on a hard drive and place into one folder?

    Hi there,
I have about 30,000 images all in hundreds of folders. I'm wondering what the easiest way to get them all into one folder so I can select and convert them all from .psd, .tiff, etc all to jpg. The reason I'm doing this is because the folder structure is such a mess, that I'm just going to import them all into aperture to sort everything. But the .tiffs and .psds are 100 mb each so I want to scale them to jpgs that are only 4 or 5 mb before I even think about importing them into aperture.
I tried doing a search for "kind is image" and it shows them all but a ton of them are renamed the same thing so when I try to select all and move into one folder it tells me I can skip that one or stop copying.
Any thoughts or ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Caleb

    Hi russelldav,
one note on your data handling:
When  each of the 50 participants send the same 60 "words" you don't need 3000 global variables to store them!
You can reorganize those data into a cluster for each participant, and using an array of cluster to keep all the data in one "block".
You can initialize this array at the start of the program for the max number of participants, no need to (dynamically) add or delete elements from this array...
    Edited:
When all "words" have the same representation (I16 ?) you can make a 2D array instead of an array of cluster...

  • What is the easiest way to move my iPhoto library from my macbook to my new mac pro?

What is the easiest way to move my iPhoto library from my macbook to my new mac pro?

Surprisingly easy! Go into the Finder, then into the Photos Library. In there, there will be a file called your iPhoto Library. It holds all your photos, essentially a special type of folder. Using an external hard drive transfer it to the same location on your new Mac. Now, when you boot iPhoto on the new Mac, it will recognise it and you'll see all your photos instantly!
There's a really good video on it here...

  • What's the easiest way to transfer all my pictures and music from my old PC to my new Mac?

I just recently got a Mac and wanted to know the easiest way to transfer my pictures and music from my PC to my Mac.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The best and easiest way is by using Windows Migration Assistant. Apart from that, this app allows you to transfer other things, that you can check in this page > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4796 You have also the steps to transfer your data to your Mac in that page.
If you don't want to use it, just copy your music and pictures to an external drive and transfer them to the Mac

  • I just bought a new Macbook. What's the best way to transfer all my info from the old one?

Hey everyone! I just got my new retina display Macbook Pro, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer all my music/photos/files/data/etc. from my old Mackbook Pro. I have a 1TB external drive and an 8GB flash drive that I can use if I need to. Any sugestions? Thanks!

What i did with mine, I cloned the drive of my old macbook to my external drive using carbon copy cloner.
Once i was done with the clone - i used migration assistant to transfer my apps/data/pictures/files over my new macbook....
when using migration assistant - do not transfer your old settngs and if you're doing an app transfer, only transfer the ones you need and that you know will work with your Retina...
    good luck..

  • What's the best way to handle all my data?

I have a black box system that connects directly to a PC and sends 60 words of data at 10Hz (worse case scenario). The black box continuously transmits these words, which contain a large amount of data that is continuously updated from up to 50 participants (again worst case scenario)
    i.e. 60words * 16bits * 10Hz * 50participants = 480Kbps.  All of this is via a UDP Ethernet connection.
I have LabVIEW reading the data without any problem. I now want to manipulate this data and then distribute it to other PCs on a network via TCP/IP.
My question is what is the best way of storing my data locally on the interface PC so that I can then have clients request the information they require via TCP/IP. Each message that comes in via the Ethernet will relate to one of the participants, so I need to be able to check if I already have data about that participant - if I do then I can just update it, if I don't I need to create a record for the participant, and if I havn't heard from one for a while I will need to delete it. I don't want to create unnecessary network traffic. I also want to avoid global variables if possible - especially considering that I may have up to 3000 variables to play with.
I'm not after a solution, just some ideas about how to tackle this problem... I thought I could perhaps create a database and have labview update a table with the data, adding a record for each participant. Alternatively is there a better way of storing all the data in memory besides global variables?
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is the Best way To Copy and paste data from 1 book to another

I have 18 sheets in 5 different books that I want to extract data from specific cells.  What is the best way to do this?  Example:  1 sheet is called Numbers E-O1 data in 13:WXYZ. The data updates and moves up 1 row every time I enter
a new number. So let's say I enter the number 12. Through a lot of calculations the output goes in 13:WXYZ. To what I call a counter which is a 4 digit number.  Anyways, how can I send that 4 digit number to a totally different sheet?  To bullet
    what I'm talking about
data in cells Row 13:WXYZ in book called Numbers sheet E-O1
send data to book called "Vortex Numbers" Sheet E-O row 2001:CDEF
What formula or Macro can I use to make this work?
    thank you!

    Hello Larbec,
    Syntax:
    '[BookName]SheetName'!Range
    Enter in cell  2001:CDEF:
    ='[Numbers]E-O1'!13:WXYZ
This assumes that the file is open in Excel. Otherwise you need to add the path:
    'ThePath[BookName]SheetName'!Range

  • What is the easiest way of listing all the ObjectSIDs in the FIM MA?

We have somewhere a duplicate objectSID.
A new AD account was created and has been imported into the MV... I have a MV entry with an objectSID from the Ad account.
When I try to export this MV entry to FIMMA it fails. The event viewer and request viewer indicate a constraint violation - duplicate objectSID.
What is the simplest method of identifying which FIM user has this objectSID?
When I can identify this rogue FIM user account I can fix it!

sorry.. just back from Holiday and brain not fully engaged.. of course searching the connector space does the trick.

  • What is the easiest way to move all my iPhone photos to an external hard drive?

How can I manually backup the enormous collection of photos clogging my iPhone 4?
Syncing with iTunes sounds like I'd be doing just the opposite -- and actualy adding to my iPhone's image girth.
On my laptop, I work primarily with PS Elements, iPhoto, and Aperture.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Whats the quickest way to export packages, tables etc from one enviroment

    Hi
whats the quickest way of more loads of packages, tables, indexes etc. from one enviroment to another?
I did some things in apex.oracle.com workspace to test apex now I want to move it across to my xe installation.

    Hello,
    2 'fast' options really -
    1) Export of application + Export/DataPump of schema
This works if you want a complete 'mirror' from one environment to another of the schema objects
    2) Supporting Objects
Bundle all your requirements together with the application export.
The Supporting Objects feature absolutely rocks and yet very very (very!) few people seem to use it.

  • Whats the easiest way to migrate my itunes data from old failing PC to new PC so I can sync on new PC?

I have a failing PC that I sync my Ipad and Iphone to now. I have a new PC that I want to start using for this function. How do I migrate my Itunes Data Etc...so that I can sync on the new PC and not lose my apps, music, pics etc....There has to be a simple-stupid way of doing this. I have already downloaded Itunes on the new PC and just waiting for an answer to go forward.

I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.

  • What is the best way to load and convert data from a flat file?

    Hi,
I want to load data from a flat file, convert dates, numbers and some fields with custom logic (e.g. 0,1 into N,Y) to the correct format.
The rows where all to_number, to_date and custom conversions succeed should go into table STG_OK. If some conversion fails (due to an illegal format in the flat file), those rows (where the conversion raises some exception) should go into table STG_ERR.
What is the best and easiest way to archive this?
    Thanks,
    Carsten.

    Hi,
thanks for your answers so far!
I gave them a thought and came up with two different alternatives:
    Alternative 1
I load the data from the flat file into a staging table using sqlldr. I convert the data to the target format using sqlldr expressions.
The columns of the staging table have the target format (date, number).
The rows that cannot be loaded go into a bad file. I manually load the data from the bad file (without any conversion) into the error table.
    Alternative 2
The columns of the staging table are all of type varchar2 regardless of the target format.
I define data rules for all columns that require a later conversion.
I load the data from the flat file into the staging table using external table or sqlldr without any data conversion.
The rows that cannot be loaded go automatically into the error table.
When I read the data from the staging table, I can safely convert it since it is already checked by the rules.
What I dislike in alternative 1 is that I manually have to create a second file and a second mapping (ok, I can automate this using OMB*Plus).
Further, I would prefer using expressions in the mapping for converting the data.
What I dislike in alternative 2 is that I have to create a data rule and a conversion expression and then keep the data rule and the conversion expression in sync (in case of changes of the file format).
I also would prefer to have the data in the staging table in the target format. Well, I might load it into a second staging table with columns having the target format. But that's another mapping and a lot of i/o.
As far as I know I need the data quality option for using data rules, is that true?
Is there another alternative without any of these drawbacks?
Otherwise I think I will go for alternative 1.
    Thanks,
    Carsten.

  • What is the best way to geotag photos with data from GPS Tracker Log (GPX format)?

I just returned from a 4 month trip to Southeast Asia. Before I left, I set the time on my camera, a Canon 7D, to match the GPS time on my GPS tracker, a QStarz BT-Q1000X. Both times were set to UTC, also known as GMT.
I have imported the data from the GPS log into Aperture as a GPX file. Now I would like to sync the location metadata on my photos with the data from the GPS log. How can I do this using Aperture 3?
I seem to be having two problems:
Aperture wants to shift the times based on which part of the track I drag the images onto. Since the camera and gps tracker times were sync'd, I do not want any shift.
The time shifts that are displayed are 12 hours and a few minutes, rather than 0 hours and a few minutes.
    A few additional notes:
When I imported the GPS track, Aperture automatically changed the time zone of the track to Asia/Ho Chi Minh City, which is correct (GMT+7).
I have batch changed the images from Camera Time: UTC to Actual Time: GMT+7
The time on my computer is US/Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4), or Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) when the photos where taken.
Since I was gone for so long, and my GPS tracker memory is limited, I set the tracker to record a trackpoint once every 60 seconds.
Is there a solution to my problems using Aperture 3, or should I start looking for third party applications to geotag the photos before importing them into Aperture?
    Thank you.

I think the 12 hour discrepancy is more likely a result of the 12 hour difference between GMT+5 and GMT-7. The dates and times of the photos and the GPS track are displayed properly in Aperture. See the images below.

  • Out of drive space, what's the easiest way to export?

Hi everyone. I have an easy question for you.
I'm on an iMac with a precariously small hard drive, and I'm running out of space. Is there a way to move some of my folders and/or projects from my iMac to my external hard drive? (I think I'm using a "managed" system -- I'm doing whatever it's called when you just let Aperture take care of filing stuff.) If I do move some of my projects to my external drive, will I be able to access the files easily? Or will I have to import them again to work with them?
    Thanks,
    HippieBoy

After you get all images permanently off your internal hard drive, on a single-drive Mac you will want to manage by Referencing image Masters. Hard drives slow as they fill (a good rule of thumb is not to fill any drive more than 70%, and for best speed keep important drives no more than 50% full), so you will want your Masters on one or more external Firewire 800 (not USB2) hard drives. OWC <http://www.owcomputing.com/> drives are one good source.
To "Reference" Master images, when you go to import, on the right hand side of the import window select "Store files in their current location." Trying to keep Master originals on a single internal drive usually sooner or later overfills the internal drive.
The Library itself can usually live on any connected drive, including the internal drive, so long as Masters are stored externally. A Library of in excess of 100k images will remain small enough to keep on most well-managed internal drives. As long as the internal drive is kept underfilled it is preferable from a speed standpoint to have the Referenced-Masters Library reside on the internal drive.
Note that iMacs and laptops in general are limiting to the performance of heavy graphics apps. In addition to good hard drives management, maximizing RAM will also help optimize Aperture performance on your iMac.
    Good luck!!

  • I made a complete backup disc using a dvd. I have windows 7 - what is the easiest way to load all

I have an HP G60 laptop using Windows 7.  Before I did a system recovery, I backed up all info to a dvd.  Now I'm having trouble getting the info back into the computer.  I've tried the recovery manager, and can't seem to get it to look at the E: drive.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Easy is always relative.
    Me I am lazy.
I would write a class (or three) that read the .jar files and found the common classes then created a list / file of the names.
You could look for the first portion of the package name like java, com, etc. to know when to pay attention and when to just keep on reading.
Not pretty - CPU and I/O intensive - but better than doing it by hand. And it will work over and over again on all .jars.
    Have fun and good luck.
