What is the MAX amount of DATA for JDBC?

Hello,
Did anybody had any expericence with how jdbc works with large amount of data SAY
> 1/2 GIG or more?
Any help apprecieated
Thanks.
Paul

Always depends on the driver implementation. Each
driver/database combination deals with massiveamounts
of data in a single transaction differently. Canyou
be more specific? In general Most Drivers of
commercial grade quality and/or shipped with the
top
5
RDBMS have pretty solid implementations limitedsoley
by network bandwidth to carry this info. A good
developer however will not rely on the driver to
manage this much info and will develop a scheme
to
minimize the impact of such large data transferson
an
unsuspecting database or client.
LThis is what I thought. I just need moreinformation
if for example I have a JAVA process which feedsdata
from RDMBS and the amount of data the processreceives
SAY 2GIG My guess this all get in "ResultSet"object
and thus all feeds in VM( memory) so I have to
designing my process SUCH that it takes only asmall
sample of data and iterate this until I get all the
information from my query. Ex.
select * from test where data between 1 and 2000000;I
have to brake this down by "DAYS"
so my code will be something like
for (int i=0 ;i<2000000 ;i++) {
String select=null;
select="select * from test where data="+i+;
do( something else)
Am I close far? Is there another way that may beJDBC
driver handless this behind scenes?
Well personally I think you should be structuring your
SQL better than that. Making 2000000 calls over a
network in a for loop is suicidal..and lets not forget
how something like that will block your application.
First you can do something like "select * from test
where data <= 2000000" in one shot. Now you get the
whole set and you can scroll through and do your
operation ( of course this is slow too, but its much
better than running the query 2000000 times ).
the other thing you have to consider is : is it
necessary to really block during an operation like
this? Can it be done in another thread? a daemon
process even? Some service which can be polled for
results when needed?
This is a tricky example and I'd be interested to know
more about what you are trying to do.
When you were talking about large data I was under the
impression of something like a blob, clob, or any sort
of single query with 2gb of data in the result.
Can you break up your query? Doing things in batch in
an alternative thread can yield to other processes
perhaps?
Loh, and also: Can the Database itself take care of this business? Stored Procedures and Internal Functions are all built to handle massive amounts of data with minimal impact. Can you leverage the technology within the Database to accomplish your goal? Sometimes a well written procedure can save you tons of work in your business logic tier.
The right tools for the right job..

In general, for best performance, it's best to match up the same size modules in each slot (2x2 in this case). However, given that it's only going to read 3GB, I'm not sure if that holds true here.

  • What is the Max import file size for Aperture

I'll some times shoot film and get very large scans done as Tiffs or Jpegs. 500MB+ What is the Max that Aperture can manage, or is it only determined by the Mac configuration?

I'm curious to know this as well before upgrading. Hopefully it has been improved in Aperture 3. I know Aperture 2 only supported up to 250MB which was near useless if you'd ever made any significant adjustments and edits in Ps and saved it as a .psd.
All my medium format (digital and film scans) and large format scans give me the maroon "Unsupported Image Format" error while trying to view in Aperture 2.

  • What is the typical amount of time for an iPad to fully charge?

I have a brand new iPad, third generation, WiFi/LTE, 64 GB.  It seems to take up to 6-7 hours to fully recharge.  I am concerend, only because I had a first generation iPad, and it would charge in 2 1/2 hours.  Is this normal?
    Thanks

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • What is the max supported CPU for MSI 865PE-NEO2-LS?

Can someone please tell me what is the max supported CPU speed for the MSI 865PE-NEO2-LS?  I have a P4 2.8@800Mhz, but was told that with a BIOS upgrade this motherboard can achieve up to 3.2?  Is that right, or can it support higher speeds such as the 3.4+
    Thank you!

I think A6728IMS.210 means BIOS 2.1 so it may already work with the 3.2Ghz CPU.

I was playing with my ipad settings and noted in he advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view "website databases".  When I selected this I saw a multitude of websites.
Can anyone tell me how these get there?  Can a website be posted even if it was never went to?  What does the space amount mean?  For example, 1.5 kb...is this quite a bit?  Would it indicate someone has gone to a site multiple times?
I share my ipad with my teenage daughter and I'm trying to find out if she's lying to me.  Obviously she's swearing that she has "no idea" how these got there and I'm trying to keep her safe (she's only 14).
    Thanks everyone.

Think of your PC and the 'temporary internet folder' where it keeps cached copies of web pages or elements off a web page for 'quicker display the next time you visit'. That's pretty much what that folder is. 1.5K is tiny. Probably just a basic page with some text on it. (you might be confusing 1.5K with 1.5 megabyte....megabyte is large...it's roughly 1000 kilobytes, so the 1.5K is a tiny file)
As far as I know, the only way info gets into that folder is if the browser has been to that site.
if you have a concern there are browsers out there, McGruff is one i've seen recommended, that allow some degree of parental control and supervision. That or you could passcode lock the iPad or enable the restrictions to turn off some parts of the device to have some control.

And maybe you don't talk to too many people but I've been on many forums on different websites where people have had similar problems and a lot of people in the store were having battery problems where they were draining too fast. What I learned is that all the people who did not download the updates are good. There phone is working the same. The people who have, they're having battery problems
I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. While there are a few random reports of battery problems, it is no more than I have seen for any other model or any other version of iOS in almost 8 years. Usually problems of rapid battery drain can be traced to bad apps (FaceBook is the worst offender) or corrupt data being synced from iCloud or other sources (gmail, Windows Live, Yahoo, etc).
The simple test is to restore the phone as New. Do not create any email accounts. Do not install any apps. Do not enable FaceTime or iMessage. Do not enable Twitter or any other social networking app. Use it for a day and check the battery usage. You will find that it is working well.
And also see this: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain. It is the best treatise I have seen on the subject of battery usage.

  • What is the max clob length for Forms 6i with most recent updates.

I am trying to determine what the largest clob is that can be handled by Forms 6i with the latest patches installed. I have searched the forum and the help files and have found a bunch of different answers, but nothing useful - nothing current.
I have a record that has a clob field with 28,213 characters (including spaces) or 9902 characters (without spaces). Saved as a text file, it is 29kb.
To read and work with the data in Forms, I have to set the DATA: Maximum Length to 110000, almost 3 times the length of the actual data. I can read and edit the field without problems.
    My questions are:
    1. what is the maximum size of data in a clob field that will work with Forms 6i and Oracle 10R2 database (Forms with the most recent update)?
    2. what is the Maximum Length - It certainly doesn't seem to be character. How do I set this - 3x Actual????
    Thanks for the help
    Glenn

In theory it should be 64k bytes. In practice its often a bit less than that.

  • What is the max resolution for external monitors from the intel hd 4000 graphics driver

What is the max resolution supported by the intel hd 4000 graphics driver found on the 13in MacBook Pro for EXTERNAL monitors?

OK so after doing much research... this seems to be the best workflow.
Bring HDV in to FCP as ProRes 422.
Edit show... add bells and whistles, etc.
    Export movie as ProRes 422.
Then for the client - ensure that they have latest version of Quicktime and download the Apple ProRes Quicktime Decoder (for mac or Windows). (It is assumed they have a decent computer to play back on.)
The client will then be able to play a movie encoded as proRes 422 and all will be happy.
As a back up a high resolution h264 file can't hurt.
Thanks for everyones input. We got there in the end.

    Hi Kappy,
That's not quite true. I don't think anyone has managed to get a 3TB drive working as 3TB on an Xserve yet.. Here is the official compatibility matrix from Apple http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1219
2TB seems to be the limit. Some people have had success with non Apple drives but it's very hit and miss..
