"one from him"? Don't follow
The generic point of a posted message is to store a message that doesn't
need a recipient list. Example is shared discussion notes in a shared
folder.

I am extremely upset. I purchased my iPad in SA and now I am in Greece. I cannot download free apps as I get a message that the apps are not available in the SA store and only in US stores. When I change to the US store the same thing happens. What is the point of having an iPad if I cannot use it worldwide??? I feel that I wasted my money purchasing it as I specifically purchased it to use when I travel. How can I get access to all the available apps and why are they restricted.

You can use your iPad worldwide. However, each AppleID is tied to
a specific country's store. To use the AppStore in any country, you
must be in that country and have a credit/debit card issued by a financial
institution in that country with a verified billing address in that country.
It is the developer's choice which AppStores he makes his app available
from, and some countries prohibit certain apps.
To make a purchase from the US store (including downloading a free app
available in the US store), you must be in the US and have card issued
in the US with verified billing address in the US.
You can use your purchases from the SA store worldwide, but you
cannot make purchases in other than the SA store unless you meet
    the aforesaid conditions.

    Hello Pushtheriver,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iCloud storage issues:
    Get help using iCloud storage
    This may also help:
    Understanding iOS device capacity
You can sync and download many different types of content on your device. Some types of content (such as music and videos) typically take more space than others (such as notes and books). The amount of space taken by an app depends on the app's purpose; complex or graphically intense apps usually take more space than simpler apps.
If your device is near its capacity, you can remove some of the less used content to make room for more.

  • What's the point of warranty?

I am a student coming from Hong Kong  to London for postgraduate study. Before I left Hong Kong, I decided to buy a netbook for my lecturers in the UK. Lenovo s10-2 was chosen because the version available in HK comes with 6 cell battery with international warranty and Lenovo Protection Service (against accidental damage).
This is the first Lenovo machine for me. All was well and I was starting to appreciate Lenovo. Suddenly, the LED screen started to flick with white lines moving across the it, just two weeks after I bought it from Hong Kong.
Yesterday, I called the UK support line who initially suggested replacement (because the purchase is last than 30-day old). However, when the agent found out that I bought the machine in Hong Kong, he said I could only get it repairs. Fair enough.
I packed the netbook this afternoon ready to ship it to the repair center. Being not sure about whether or not my proof of purchase was needed, I called the support line again. This time, the agent gave me a "friendly warning" or maybe a management of my expectations.
I was told that Lenovo believes that there is a 99.5% chance that these type of problems are due to “internal damages" caused by users! I was also advised that sending the machine in for repairs risk myself getting into paying 230 pounds (pretty much the purchase cost) to get the LED screen fixed because it is likely to be not covered by warranty. On top of that, I would have to pay 65 pounds even if I want my netbook back after inspection without getting fixed because again, 99.5% chance that "damages by users" would be concluded!
What's the point of warranty? Totally unacceptable. Any thoughts? Should I take the risk?
I only got the machine just over two weeks ago and used for less than 10 times!

    seblee,
This bears a bit of looking into to provide you the best answer.   Sometimes, the accidental damage policies are only valid in the home country, and I would like to check.  If that were to be the case, you would have replacement or repair options in HK, but standard warranty terms would likely apply in UK.
Your situation sounds exceptional, and I'd like to look into this and see what can be done.
Can your send me a private message with your contact information and the serial number from the bottom of the unit?
Sorry that you are having this trouble.  Will see how we can help.

  • What is the point of having indented levels in course outlines?

What is the point of having indented levels in course outlines? It's not possible to add any materials or posts to this. I want to avoid having simply a long list of topics that are difficult to manage. When I create a topic in the outline, I can indent it, but then I can't add any posts to it as it doesn't even show up as a heading in course manager.
I've been trying to have some kind of logical organisation of materials, but the only thing you seem to be able to do is have a long list of topics.
Which makes me wonder why the possibility of indenting levels is there at all - it seems to be a completely worthless item.

I guess the point of the indented lists is to provide the user with some description of the topic’s contents. It's a standard convention in the table of contents of books. It might pay to break your course down into a number of courses if the list of topics is getting too unwieldy.

  • What's the point of this code?

Hi, I'm getting an error in a program.
So I went to look in the code where the error is displayed.
    And I found this:
    z_nbjr = sy-datum - z_fromdt.
    if z_nbjr > 1.
      message is displayed.
Now, z_fromdt is the value TVARV-LOW for 'ZVDL_VBUK_LAST_RUN', and the message that is displayed is 'Please rebuild index file ZVDL_VBUK'.
Can anyone explain to me what is the point of this? What is TVARV-LOW?
And why do they make this check? And how do I rebuild the index file?

As Pushpraj has already pointed out correctly, TVARV is where the variants are stored. It's rather strange that you've never seen fields like LOW and HIGH, because they're also used in the ABAP range tables (see Help for command RANGES).
Since this is all your custom development, we, unfortunately, cannot know what is the point of all this. I'm guessing that the message to "rebuild the index" is also custom and, therefore, you would need to find a documentation for the program in question or ask your colleagues what this could mean. Also check if there is a long text available for the message (although I doubt that).
Most likely it's some kind of an internal process of running some other program.

  • What's the point of Desktop 6.2 vs 4.2?

Hi - I have a new Centro coming to replace an ailing TX so thought I would "upgrade" my desktop to 6.2. Was I in for a shock. PD 6.2 is not an upgrade, it's a downgrade. It locks up when I try to access my Note Pad files, there is no color anymore in calender events, etc. I don't want to use this with the new Centro either! I googled and found that PD 4.2 will work with Centro. But I have to wonder: what is the point of 6.2 being worse than the versions it supposedly replaces? Is there a better (than 6.2) PD coming? I'm on TMobile, so the Pre is not an option. Thanks for any insights!
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Palm Desktop 6.2.2 was provided to Palm by Access, the company that owns it now, in order to provide Windows Vista compatibility.  As far as I can see it, there are only two reasons to use it over PD 4.2:
    if you have a Vista desktop;
if you plan to migrate to a Pre, because the data transfer assistant which comes with the Pre will apparently only work with Palm Desktop 6.2.2.
I would not personally expect any further upgrades or development of Palm Desktop.  Palm is pretty much done with the Palm OS, and without any new Palm OS devices coming online, I doubt Palm would invest any resources to further develop the Palm Desktop.

  • What's the point of movie creator?

What is the point of movie creator if I can't edit or create my own movie? All it does is select it's genre (weekly, monthly, yearly ect) and compose it's own movie. To me it's a useless app either that or I'm a simpleton and haven't explored it enough to figure it out properly.

@Antman87 I felt exactly the same after I got my Z3 Compact.... but soon after, in February, I made a trip to the beach with my wife, son and his godfather, and after I took many pictures and videos for the day (including pool pictures, timeshift videos, etc) the app created an incredible mix with awesome music and almost perfect selection of my media... I was shock, so I fiddled with the app a little bit more and replace a couple of pics with others better related and the results were simply great...
After that I realize that the app has encouraged me to share those moments with friends and family (I upload them to facebook) since it is extremely simple to use and at the same time the videos are short (around 30 secs) so you will not bore everyone with 5 minutes clips...
On the other hand I do wish it included better editing tools or at least integrated the ones found on the device (photo/movie editor from Album) so we could have more control of what and how it's being displayed...
Anyway I will not post publically my family videos, but I recently made one of me parasailing with my Z3 Compact tied to my wrist! and that one I uploaded to YouTube... Take a look... Parasailing with my Xperia Z3 Compact
Here are a couple of screenshots from the original video...
I love Movie Creator... hopefully it keeps getting better

  • What's the point of updates - if..

Why do the upgrades tend to mess up my other applications? DVD Studio Pro - Bluetooth. I just feel what's the point of getting upgrades now. I did the Pro Application Support application which did take care of my DVD SP - however shouldn't upgrades be exactly that - UPGRADING - not have causes more problems. Taking time away from the work that needs to be done. Sorry - just had to rant a bit.

If you do a search on these forums it would probably boil down to doing these things.
    Permissions Repair
Whenever a program that's installed places items into the /Library folder and Applications folder, it often has to amend permissions in order to do so which is why authenticating as an 'Admin' user is required so that it's able to carry out these amendments and place files where they should be and have their correct permissions assigned. Sometimes this change is not always corrected and may affect other programs operation. To help reduce side affects like normal User account being able to change and delete programs in the 'Applications' folder. Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities has a 'Permissions Repair' routine which ensures that the proper permissions are assigned based on their package rules.
    Cron Scripts
These are scripts which the OS usually initiates itself, but performing them manually by using the Terminal can be beneficial.
Good programs worth looking into are, Onyx available at www.macupdate.com
Running it's maintenance scripts means you don't have to go into the Terminal manually and it does it's stuff very well, I've used it since 10.2 and never had a problem with it, it's updated regular, it's free and better than similar programs doing the same both free and those that charge.
    Safe Boot
Starting up the computer after the chime and holding the 'Shift' key down, runs the fsck command, which verifies and fixes any problems with a startup volume, though not all, it also deletes the font cach and databases, so some issues with fonts can be helped by doing this, also if you seem to be getting conflicts in software, this can help to make sure the Apple components are working fine as it only loads the minimum 'kexts' and drivers so the computer operates, almost the equivalent in OS9 but not exactly.
There's lots more but doing these few things can help keep a system in shape, especially if no time was spent doing it beforehand. A note though, doing Permissions repair is not part of a 'Regular' maintenance routine, if you see message like 'Do not have permission' then it's worth doing it then.

  • What's the point of keyword sets?

Hi all. My first post here, so watch out - Newbie Alert. I have scoured the forums but can't really find an answer.....
What's the point of keyword sets?
I'm a convert to Lightroom from ACDSee. I have been very pleased with Lightroom in general but I'm really struggling with Keywords and Keyword Sets.
Understand where I'm coming from. I'm not sending my photos to Stock Libraries etc but I want to tag/categorise my photos so that I can find what I want quickly.
How are people using  Keywords and Keyword Sets?
A simple example - I have a "family" and some "friends".
So I created (via the contorted mechanism) a couple of keyword sets. The Family set containes the names of me, my wife and our three sons. Great - no problems. However it turns out that we have more than nine friends. Now I know geeks are often short on real world friends but this seems to be a bit of a limitation.
On the other hand It might be that I have misunderstood what sets are all about.
I have found that it is possible to nest keywords. Perhaps that is a better mechanism?
I have not found a really good tutorial on this - any pointers?
In comparison to the rest of Lightroom the keyword and keyword set manipulation side seems to be a little clunky. Yes/No?
    Roy

It's for applying  keywords which are frequently applied as alternatives, and makes use of the keyboard to make the assignment faster - hold down Alt/Opt and hit the number.
So your family set would be an ideal set. You could set up alternative sets for certain groups of keywords you often assign to a shoot. So for example, I have a weddings one, with groom, bride, etc.

  • What's the point of the "Contact Support" button?

What's the point of having a "contact support" button when all you get is an automatic email response like this?  "Thank you for contacting BlackBerry(r) App World(tm) support. This is an automated response to your inquiry. Direct support is unavailable through the "Contact Support" button"?  Direct support is not available through "contact support"?!?!??!  WT?  This kind of "customer support"  will have me looking at Androids and iPhones when my contract is up in June..

And when you get an Android or iPhone, don't you contact your carrier for front-line support, just like with a BlackBerry?  And does Android and iPhone offer support forums such as this one?  (Perhaps they do, I'm just asking.)
Fact is, when you download an app from AppWorld, the "contact support" button does work for apps developed by third-party developers.  Because AppWorld itself is a BlackBerry product, that would go through your carrier or here.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • What Is The Point Of The Login & Keychain Update?

    I installed Leopard on Friday.
It did not and still does not recognise my Username and/or Password.
I note that a Login & Keychain Update has appeared in Software Update, its purpose being to address login & password issues "where the password is 8 or more characters".
    (1) I cannot install the Update because Leopard does not recognise my password.
    (2) My password is only 7 digits long yet I'm still unable to access my iMac properly.
What's the point of issuing an Update for people who are unable to install it?

Hopefull you will have already seen other posts explaining how to get past the login problem. This worked for me:
1 Boot up from the install disc (hold down C key when restarting).
2 Launch the installer as if you are going to install.
3 From the Utilities menu, select reset Passwords
4 In the username field type: System Administrator (root)
5 In the password field type the password you want to use
6 Quit the change passwords app
7 From utilities, select Start Up Disk. Choose you HD as the start up disc and restart
8 Once restarted, select accounts from the System Preferences menu
9 Click the lock at the bottom left
10 When asked for username and password, enter System Administrator as the username and the password you changed earlier as the password
11 Click the enable user to administer computer check box for your account. Your account should now change from Standard to Admin.
After I did that I could log in and download the software update. I was connecting via Ethernet. However, once thte update was installed my PB G4 stated that I do not have an airport card installed (which I obviously do). I still haven't found anything that works for me to fix that. I have given up for the moment.
    Hope this helps

It's a fairly safe bet the post you're looking for with a converter suggestion was in regards to BADAK. If not you'll probably find the one you seek in some thread that includes a reference to BADAK. Try a forum search with that keyword. Things sometimes move around but don't often vanish completely unless the underlying forum software changes.

  • WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS FORUM?

What is the point of this forum when over half the questions go unanswered?
In fact, what is the point of creating and selling a product that so many people can't even install without an expert looking over their shoulder?
This really sucks! I am really sorry that I elected a major in Oracle Development.

    Erin,
There are reasons for doing controlled releases, and your implementation experience with prior upgrades is one of them.
Doing an upgrade requires the management of the underlying repository, the underlying repository has changed significantly from 309 to 902 owing to the introduction of OID and other significant changes to the architecture.
Running a controlled release allows Oracle to ensure that the final upgrade scripts when made publicly available are as solid and bug-free as possible whilst allowing those customers who wish to upgrade sooner rather than later and take part in the feedback process can do so with the knowledge that Oracle can help them should they come across any issues.
We currently have over 150 customers running the upgrade scripts and providing feedback, so much so that we are hoping to release them publicly in the very near future.
On another note, I should point out that in your post you are referring to DB upgrade versions and not Application Server upgrade versions..
