What is the SQL syntax to do Where = "Parameter" ?

I have a menu list linkied to a query. I want the user to select one from the list and pass it to the data source query to return results.
Whats the syntax in the data source SQL to add this in?
My Parameter is called Param1 and I tried:
where xxxx = param1

Just a side note, a null parameter in BIP is != null. You have to coalesce the parameter to null. I had to ask a while back to find this little piece of info out.

  • What is the setVariable syntax for AS3

    Hi,
    I am having issues with setting a variable in AS3 SWF playing inside a Dir12
    spriteObjRef.setVariable(variableName, newValue)
    In the context of ActionScript 3, this method is only supported on a Flash object, not on a

    What would the Flash Object syntax be??

    What is the correct syntax for referencing a page item (P23_ID, for example) in a PL/SQL page process, after submit?
    See "About Referencing Session State" in the documentation.
    Within an anonymous block in an APEX page process, use the standard bind variable syntax:
    :P23_ID
    In general, use bind variable syntax when referencing session state values in SQL or DML:
    select
        ename
    into
        :p23_name
    from
        emp
    where
        empno = to_number(:p23_id);
    and obviously when assigning values to the item:
    :P23_ID := foo.nextval;
    PL/SQL function references v('p23_id') and nv('p23_id') [for number values] must be used to access values in stored program units called from APEX, although it's usually better to pass the values as parameters: foo(:p23_id).

  • What is the exact syntax for calling remote function module.

    Hi to all
    1.....what is the exact syntax for calling remote function module.?
    Thanks and regards,
    k.swaminath reddy

    hi
    good
    Lets do simple example where you will first create a RFC in one server (say A) and create normal program in othere server (say B). Finally you will call the RFC in A from B.
    Do the following steps for creating RFC in server A.
    1. log on to server A
    2. go to se37
    3. Edit -> function groups-> create function group and give the function group name (say ZGRP).
    4. create a FM ( say Z_TEST_RFC) in se37 providing the function group which is created just now.
    5. go to attribute tab -> choose remote-enabled module from processing type.
    so that your FM will become RFC.
    6. provide the import parameter in import tab.
    we will provide only two import parameters.
    - parameter name : P_NUM1, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value (all the parameters of RFC must pass by value).
    - parameter name : P_NUM2, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value
    7. provide the export parameter in export tab.
    parameter name : P_SUM, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value
    8. write the given simple code in source code tab.
    FUNCTION Z_TEST_RFC.
    P_TOT = P_NUM1 + P_NUM2.
    ENDFUNCTION.
    Do the following steps for creating ABAP program which will call the RFC in server B.
    1. se38 - > creat a program.
    2. write the given simple code.
    data tot type i.
    call function 'Z_TEST_RFC' destination 'XXXXXX'
    exporting
    p_num1 = 10
    p_num2 = 15
    importing
    p_tot = tot.
    write tot.
    please note that XXXXXX is RFC connection which is avialable in sm59 transaction in server A.
    -go to sm59 - > abap connection (list of RFC connection configurations are avialable). choose server B connection and replace it of XXXXXX in the code.
    finally you can execute the normal abap program that will call the RFC and display the result.
    reward point if helpful.

  • What is the expression syntax to make the visibility of a column hidden in a Tablix?

    So if my Parameter value is...
    MCCL, MCMA, MCPL, MCPR, MCRE, MCSE, MCSN, MCVA, MCCL, MCEP, MCMA, MCRE out of 43 possible choices, what is the expression syntax to hide my tablix column based on my parameter value?
    =iif(instr(Join(Parameters!ColumnVisibility.Value,","),"MCCL","MCMA","MCPL"...)>0,false,true)
    Just not sure of the syntax...or do I have to qualify each one???
    = IIf(Parameter!PF1.Value = "MCCL" OR Parameter!PF1.Value = "MCMA"..., TRUE, FALSE)

    Hi ITBobbyP,
    Per my understanding that you have create multiple values parameter "ColumnVisibility" based on the fields LineofBusiness and the fields LineofBusiness have the n to 1 relationship with the BusinessUnit like below(Sample Data):
    When you select values from the dropdown list which only include the "FM" or "MC", the column "HCFNumber" will show or it will hide, right?
    If so, If you have two many values in the lineofBusiness mapped of the BusinessUnit, you can create an new cascading parameter "BusinessUnit" based on the BusinessUnit field like below:
    select distinct a.BusinessUnit from (select 'MCCL' lineofBusiness, 'MC' BusinessUnit ,11 HCFANumber
    union
    select 'MCCS' lineofBusiness, 'MC' BusinessUnit ,11 HCFANumber
    union
    select 'COLG' lineofBusiness, 'CO' BusinessUnit ,11 HCFANumber
    union
    select 'COSM' lineofBusiness, 'CO' BusinessUnit ,22 HCFANumber
    union
    select 'FMMS' lineofBusiness, 'FM' BusinessUnit ,33 HCFANumber
    union
    select 'FMCG' lineofBusiness, 'FM' BusinessUnit ,44 HCFANumber)a
    where lineofBusiness in (@LineofBusiness)
    Add another filter in the (@BusinessUnit) and use expression below on the column visibility:
    =IIF(Join(Parameters!BusinessUnit.Value,",")="FM" or Join(Parameters!BusinessUnit.Value,",")="MC" or Join(Parameters!BusinessUnit.Value,",")="FM,MC" , false,true)
    Preview like below:
    If you still have any problem, please try to provide more details information about the expect result you want to get based on the show/hide.

  • What is the best way to handle input parameter

    When writing sub-vi's, what is the best way to handle input parameter range checking? On the front panel I can choose to have numeric values coerced to be within range, but this does not affect constants or controls wired to the vi when used as a sub-vi. I can build range checking into the vi, but this can result in a cluttered looking vi. Do you have any suggestions.

    As you discovered, the Range and Coercion properties of controls do not work when used in sub-vis.
    Your best option is to go ahead and build your range checking into your sub-vis. If its something you will be doing a lot, just make your range checking a sub-vi and drop it where needed. This will keep the clutter to a minimum. You may end up with more than one range checking VI if you need different functionality, but this will still make less clutter and easier re-use.

  • What is the correct syntax for using a variable in an ad hoc query?

    Hi all
    I am an occasional DB user and at the moment need to update about 1000+ records so that a certain column gets a unique value.
    So I thought that I would use a variable for this.
    I then built this kind of SQL statement for just a small subset of the records:
    variable recNumber number;
    exec :recNumber := 1;
    UPDATE TABLE_TO_BE_UPD
    SET COL_TO_BE_UPD = COL_TO_BE_UPD + recNumber
    WHERE COL_TO_BE_UPD IN ('VAL_A','VAL_B');
    I get the invalid SQL statement error when attempting to execute above (besides the prompt that asks for a value which I would like to omit).
    Anyway I also tried this one:
    CREATE SEQUENCE seqCounter;
    UPDATE TABLE_TO_BE_UPD
    SET COL_TO_BE_UPD = COL_TO_BE_UPD + seqCounter.NEXTVAL
    WHERE COL_TO_BE_UPD IN ('VAL_A','VAL_B');
    From this one I got the error ORA-01722: invalid number...I am guessing this comes because seqCounter is of type number and the COL_TO_BE_UPD is of type character...(?)
    So what I would like to ask is what is the correct way to define and use a counter type of variable to append a number at the end of a character string?
    Also another question that I would like to ask is that are variables that are used in ad hoc queries also called 'bind variables'?
    Thanks muchly

    If you want to append a unique number to a column then this would do it:
    UPDATE TABLE_TO_BE_UPD
    SET COL_TO_BE_UPD = COL_TO_BE_UPD ||to_char(rownum)
    WHERE COL_TO_BE_UPD IN ('VAL_A','VAL_B');

  • What is the sql statement for doing this?

    Hi,
    I am currently doing a simple search engine that allows a user to key in a filename and display all the files' name close to keyed filename(the first two letters are the same).What is the proper sql statement to select from Document according to DocumentType and the first two letters of the filename? Am i doing it the right way? I am currently use Access 2002, dunno if it will affects me.Thanks in advance
    [What i did]
    String filename="doc,txt"
    SELECT DocumentType from Rule where UserType='1' and Action='Search';
    DocumentType=1,5,9,13,17,21,25,29,33,37,41,45 // This is all the document Type the user can see.
    Next i used StringTokenizer break the DocumentType.
    DocumentType[0]=1;
    DocumentType[0]=5;
    SELECT * from Document where DocumentType and Name <<< I want to select from Document according to DocumentType and the first two letters of the filename

    One more try - from what I can follow?
    If I assume you have a table named for example "UserRules"
    which has fields UserID,UserType,UserAction
    and has records like this that controls the document types
    a user is allowed to see
    UserID UserType Action
    TOM 1 Search
    BILL 7 Search
    ROY 2 Search
    And if I assume you have a table named for example "AllowedUserDocumentTypes"
    which has fields UserType,DocumentTypes
    and has records like this that controls the document types
    a user is allowed to see
    UserType DocumentTypes
    1 1,3,4,5,6,19
    2 7,9,12,18
    3 1,19,33,27
    And you have the document table which has
    fields are DocNo,Name,Title,Date,Filename,DocumentType
    and it has records like this
    DocNo Name Title Date Filename DocumentType
    12345 BILL Cars CarTypes 18
    12346 ROY Trucks TruckTypes 2
    12347 TOM Toys ToyTypes 17
    12345 JACK Car Colors CarColors 19
    12345 TOM Car Shapes CarShapes 7
    Then the select statement
    Select DocumentTypes from AllowedUserDocumentTypes
    join UserRules where UserRules.UserType = AllowedUserDocumentTypes.UserType
    and UserRules.UserID = 'ROY' and UserRules.Action = 'Search';
    will return 7,9,12,18
    If the DocumentType field is numeric and the user entered "CarCrap" the
    select statement would have to look like this
    SELECT * from Document
    where left(Filename,2) = 'Ca' and DocumentType in (7,9,12,18);
    If the DocumentType field is say varchar
    select statement would have to look like this
    SELECT * from Document
    where left(Filename,2) = 'Ca' and DocumentType in ('7','9','12','18');
    You will have to build these select statements related to the user.
    Note you should also allow for upper and lower case differences. I
    would suggest you convert the user entry into uppercase and do a select
    like below
    SELECT * from Document
    where Ucase(left(Filename,2)) = 'CA' and DocumentType in (7,9,12,18);
    This is all written from memory, not tested and I have not done this
    in several years.
    I was showing approximately how to build the statements before.

  • What is the following syntax for?

    I saw this on the Sun tutorial for swing components and was a little baffled. I'm a "professional core java programmer" yet I did not recognized the syntax. Here it is...
    JLabel myLabel = new JLabel("A Label"){
    public void Amethod(){
    // method body
    public void AnotherMethod(){
    // method body 2
    What is the purpose of the curly bracketed code after a object declaration?
    I even tried this in eclipse and it worked....
    Object _obj = new Object(){}; // compiles
    I know you can put {} anywhere but what does it do when you have method implementation in them?

    It creates an anonymous inner class which extends something else;
    in your example the JLabel class is extended. At the same time an
    object of that extended class is created. The syntax is funny indeed
    but very handy for all sorts of Listeners used in the Swing framework.
    Note that there are other situations where such an anonymous inner
    class can come in handy. Try this for example (see below) and change
    the text in the label:JLabel label= new JLabel("initial text") {
       public void setText(String text) { // override the setText method
          super.setText(text);
          System.out.println("Changed label text: "+text);
    label.setText("new text");kind regards,
    Jos

  • Where is the sql file store in & Where can I find php.ini on Mac osx client

    In windows xp i can find the sql file in side the folder of MySQL and I can find php.ini in the C directory under the php's folder but in mac os Icannot find it could anyone tell me where it is and how can I find thanks.

    Hi--
    apples-Computer:/usr/local/mysql apple$ cd data
    -bash: cd: data: Permission denied
    apples-Computer:/usr/local/mysql apple$ sudo sh
    Password:
    apples-Computer:/usr/local/mysql apple$ cd data

    -bash: cd: data: Permission denied
    apples-Computer:/usr/local/mysql apple$ chmod +rw
    data
    chmod: data: Operation not permitted
    It looks to me like you haven't gained root access in the examples above. If you follow Niel's example:
    <pre class="command">sudo sh</pre>you should get a different prompt when you actually are the root user:
    <pre class="command">sh-2.05b#</pre>because you'd be changing shells from bash to sh.
    I'd like to set the folder /mysql/data to except me
    for coppy database folder
    How can I get the permittion to access the
    /mysql/data folder
    You should be able to do anything to those files without changing permissions if you're the root user.
    But, just for your information, I never directly move the database files. If I want to move a database between computers, I always use the mysqldump command and redirect it to a file:
    <pre class="command">/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqldump --add-drop-table -u username -p db_name > /path/to/output/file.sql</pre>That makes a single text file with all the SQL commands necessary to build your database tables and populate them with your data. If you want to restrict it to just one table from a database, you can add the table name after the db_name:
    <pre class="command">/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqldump --add-drop-table -u username -p db_name table_name > /path/to/output/file.sql</pre>To import that file into another machine, you have to create the database first, which you could do with phpAdmin. Then, just import the tables and data like this:
    <pre class="command">/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u root -p db_name < /path/to/output/file.sql</pre>That'll create all your tables and populate them with your data.
    If you copy your databases this way, you're much less likely to run into trouble with compatibility issues if you're moving between machines with different versions of MySQL.

    Hi ITBobbyP,
    As to this issue, I find that this is a known issue which you can see on the link below:
    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/649210/bids-sql-2008-r2-warnings-not-clearing
    According to the Feedback, we can workaround this known issue by Re-open the project. And if Warning was in fact resolved, it will no longer show on the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) "Error List".
    As to your former issue, please refer to the expression post by

    Hi Jyothirmayi,
    ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY <FIELD LIST>) is the function to generate row numbers.
    ORDER BY clause is mandatory to generate row numbers in HANA.
