What isASAP methodology?

Hi
What is ASAP methodology?
What is the use of ASAP?
What is the Diff b/w Solutiona manager and ASAP?
Thanks.

Dear Swaroop,
AcceleratedSAP (ASAP) is SAP's standard implementation methodology. It contains the Roadmap, a step-by-step guide that incorporates experience from many years of implementing R/3. Along with that, AcceleratedSAP contains a multitude of tools, accelerators and useful information to assist all team members in implementing R/3. Quality checks are incorporated at the end of each phase to easily monitor deliverables and critical success factors. ASAP is delivered as a PC-based package, so that - if required - an implementation project can begin prior to having an R/3 System installed.
AcceleratedSAP (ASAP): A comprehensive solution for the introduction of the R/3 System in your enterprise. ASAP and most of its tools can be used independently of an R/3 installation.
The tools available for AcceleratedSAP are:
The Project Estimator, an internal SAP tool which enables SAP consultants to accurately gauge the required resources, the costs and the time frame of implementation. The Project Estimator takes into account the project scope and several project and risk factors.
The Concept Check Tool, a tool enabling you to carry out quality checks on the project preparation, technical infrastructure and R/3 configuration settings. This is done mainly during the first two implementation phases of the R/3 project. In this way you are alerted to potential data volume and configuration conflicts that could lead to performance issues if not addressed.
The Implementation Assistant: The ASAP navigation tool that accompanies you through the five phases of implementation down to the task level. It includes a description and a detailed "how-to" for each task in the Roadmap. Along with that, many tools, templates and documents are hyperlinked to the task. The Implementation Assistant contains the following elements:
ASAP Implementation Roadmap and Project Plan. The Roadmap contains the five phases, from which you can drill down into work packages, activities and tasks. The Project Plan contains three components, a budget plan, a resource plan and a work plan. These are explained in more detail in the next chapter.
The ASAP Roadmap is the successor of the R/3-based Procedure Model, which was used until Rel. 3.1 in R/3 implementation projects.
Knowledge Corner, containing tips and tricks for configuration from consultants, detailed documentation on SAP’s implementation services, information on technical tools, as well as simplification guidebooks and R/3 Customizing wizards.
Question and Answer Database (Q&Adb). Using the R/3 Reference Model structure, the Q&Adb is used to assist in gathering requirements for business processes, conversions, reports, interfaces, enhancements and authorizations. The database provides useful questionnaires to help you define the process needs and also serves as a repository for all this information. Since it is a database, it allows for flexible reporting. The business requirements generated from the Q&Adb are collectively known as the Business Blueprint.
Business Process Master List, to manage configuration, testing and the creation of end user documentation. The Business Process Master List is linked to pre-written Business Process Procedures (BPPs), detailled end-user documentation for R/3 transactions.
Issues Database: supporting project management, this database supports the entering, monitoring and managing of issues that come up during the project.

• What is methodology in sap

what is methodology in sap

Hi,
Welcome to SDN.
The ASAP Roadmap provides the methodology for implementing and continuously optimizing your SAP System. It divides the implementation process into five phases.
Phase 1: During this phase the team goes through initial planning and preparation for SAP project.
• Define project goals and objectives
• Clarify the scope of implementation
• Define project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence
• Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources
Phase 2: Business Blueprint
The purpose of this phase is to achieve a common understanding of how the company intends to run SAP to support their business. Also, to refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase. The result is the Business Blueprint, a detailed documentation of the results gathered during requirements workshops.
Phase 3: Realization:
The purpose of this phase is to implement all the business process requirements based on the Business Blueprint. The system configuration methodology is provided in two work packages: Baseline (major scope); and Final configuration (remaining scope). Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation.
Phase 4: Final Preparation:
The purpose of this phase is to complete the final preparation (including testing, end user training, system management and cutover activities) to finalize your readiness to go live. The Final Preparation phase also serves to resolve all critical open issues. On successful completion of this phase, you are ready to run your business in your live SAP System.
Phase 5: Go Live & Support:
The purpose of this phase is to move from a project-oriented, pre-production environment to live production operation. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.

• What statistical methodology is used to create a trendline in numbers

I am doing a paper and have a trendline generated by Numbers on a scatter plot, and would like to avoid confirming my 'm' and 'b' values with a least squares calculation. Does anybody know what methodology is used in the algorithm that calculates trendlines in numbers so I can report that rather than doing the calculation myself?

Hi Michael,
It's really surprising what one can learn by reading the documentation supplied by Apple.
A search of the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide using 'least squares' as the search term brings up two hits, both describing the LINEST function.
The same search in the Numbers '09 User Guide returns no results, but a search on 'trendline' returns many, with most occuring on two consecutive pages. Clicking one of these brings up the article Showing Trendlines in Charts, which doesn't directly mention "least squares", but does imply that method in the following note (emphasis added):
To see the R-squared value that was used to calculate a trendline, select the line, and then select Show R^2 Value. You can drag this number to wherever you want it to appear on the sheet.
Both these invaluable user guides are available for download via the Help menu in Numbers '09.

• In Acrobat 6 and 7 Professional, what compression methodology is used with the "Reduce File Size"?

For example, bicubic downsampling to 72 pixels/in.?, to 150 pixels/in.?, to 300 pixels/in.?,
Are all embedded thumbnails also removed?
Are all layers also flattened?

My work around for now is "Make Compatible with…’ from Acrobat 4.0 " which does not support JPEG2000 compression.

• Impementation methodology

Dear all,
what are methodologies for sap implementation except ASAP?
what is a solution manager n what roles it plays in implementation?
How do we document ASAP methodolgy n where?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Soultion Manager is a tool, which help you in SAP implementation, it is totaly depends upon you need as you want to use the SAP soultion manager on what extend. You can use the solution manager for documentation , system customization, integration testing, UAT, cutover plan, change managment, service management, IT Financial Management, capacity Management, Service Level Management, Availibility Management, as well Project Management as per your need.
Navigate through the Solution Manager roadmap to follow the methodolog through each successive phase of an implementation project:-
Project preparation
Business Blueprint: Look at the business needs, determine gap and implications, prototype if necessary, agree and sign-off scope.
Realization : System Customization and Testing (Unit, Integration and Regration Testing)
Final preparation
Cut Over, Go Live & Support
The ASAP methodology is base but you can fine tune the same as per your requirements.
regards
Vivek.

• # of records in a full load dont square with d # in an Init with data trans

Heallo to all BI/FI SDNer's,
FI AP n AR extractors like 0FI_AR_3 & 0FI_AP_3 pull 1785 records to PSA when loaded full but an Init with datatransfer for the same pull only 1740 records to PSA.
I am very skeptical dat even a delta aft a repair full will not bring all records.
What update methodologies are qualified for AP & AR ?
OSS notes I found really dont answer my concern here......please comment SDNer's !!!

• HDV 1440 x 1080 on timeline to dvd compliant MPEG-2?

Gents, I need your help, suggestions and advice once more.
About 2 months ago, I belatedly and finally entered the HDV world by purchasing a Canon XH-A1s which all in all I’m very pleased with. Due to time constraints, limited processing resources and the complexity of the project involved, it was only earlier this month that I submitted an HDV program to be aired on local access cable.
Well, it turns out that I was under the false impression that their fairly new server that feeds their broadcast system could handle MPEG-2 files with HDV content! Instead, it’s very picky & not the case. Their head tech guru wrote me an e-mail stating that all they got was a black screen (which is embarrassing to all concerned) and that from now on I either submit a NTSC dvd spec 720 by 480 file or my program is off the air.
My Premier Pro project (only v3.2) concerned (currently on the timeline) is 1440 by 1080 shot in 60i with an FPS of 29.97. So now I’m required to downgrade it to SD & do my best to ensure that quality doesn’t take a tremendous hit. The mission is to take this project direct from the timeline (it’s finalized + fully edited) and make an MPEG-2 dvd spec file. Bottom-line, how is this best achieved & by what process/methodology or workflow?
My twin goals are to:
a) Preserve the aspect ratio since I take very tight shots, so a crop and resize probably would do more harm than good. What kind of an option is SD 16:9 over 4:3? What are the pros & cons of each? I don’t want to unintentionally crop off part of a body part for example.
b) To the extent possible, maintain image/footage quality so that it remains watchable. I’m looking for a workflow that will retain quality within reason.
What approach and solution would you take if you were in my shoes?
Am sure others have traveled this route before and would appreciate all input and pointers to mull over and try to apply them not only to this project, but those in the future as well.
Thanks so much.

• HR using multiple subtype using other new cutomized infotype.

Hello All,
I customize a new infotype which has its main infotype and the main infotype used the other customized infotype as subtype. Which makes the time constraint of the main infotype is T ( Time constraint is based on the subtype or subtype table ). Does anyone here knows whats the methodology use or step by step processes on how to customize infotype using multiple subtype?
Thank you all,

Hi
please tell me what is pupose of New infotype?
Why makes you to create IT with time constrain T?
You said you want to create subtypes subtype table is T591 T591S
If your want to create subtypes in infotype you must have created First field Data Element must be SUBTY
You can define subtypes in above said tables.
Regarding Time constraint T if you use this you need to create entries in the table t554 table

contact your local oracle university or oacle learning centre and get some training on owb. But before you undertake any training you might want to be clear on the specifics such as:
Operating system.
Versions of DB and client.
Is there a specific reasons such as data migration from legacy to owb or development of a new dw environemnt.
What BI tool are you planning to use eg, Cognos,OBI EE ,Hyperion,BO etc.
What is typically your source system and how is the data going to be interfaced(frequency , ,data rules etc).
What is the schema architecture, Star or Snowflake.
What DW methodology do you want to use, Kimball or Inmon.
How much data are you going to work with in DW en.
Is it going to be on RAC.
Once you get your specifics right and know what you want you can get the best out of the training otherwise it will be a routine exercise of chasing something without knowing what you want to achieve.
Trust this helps.

• Forecast Methodlogy

What is Forecast methodology?
How we should decide what forecast methodology is required for particular scenario?Which forecast model is suitable ?
Whether we should go for univariate or MLR ?
Thanks in advance,
Prabhat

Hi,
There is no fixed rule for selecting a forecast methodology. That is all depending on your business needs. If you want to forecast on the basis of a single variable (that is single Key figure), then we will use Univariate. If your history pattern is so regular, then you can easily choose a forecast model. But if it is not so regular, then selection of suitable FC model is complicated. For this, we can go for the automatic model selection. The system will do some test to get the correct pattern of the historical value, then it will use that pattern to forecast.
MLR will be used when we have more than one variables to be considered for forecasting.

• Fulfillment rate of CCCNet messages

Hi there
Not sure if this is in the right section, or relevant, but we are in the process of getting our CCOE, and there is a section of Message Quality and that they rate it on fulfillment rate as follow:
In order to evaluate the "fulfillment rate" of customer messages forwarded to SAP, SAP has implemented in cooperation and alignment with the SAP user-groups, a methodology to rate customer messages whether they fulfill defined quality criteria or not. A report, outlining the classification and overall fulfillment rate of your messages, can be found below.
Now i would like to know what this methodology is? is it possible to establish on what SAP rates these messages, and what decides whether it fulfills the criteria or not?

• What exactly are the SAP Testing Methodologies?

Hi,
I am researching on the various testing methodologies in SAP and came across a couple of discussions such as this link:
testing methodologies in sap
It mainly discusses:
AcceleratedSAP (ASAP) methodology, and tools available for AcceleratedSAP such as Project Estimator, ASAP Implementation Roadmap and Project Plan, etc
I do not see those as TESTING more so as approaches for implementation such as SDLC or the Accenture Development Life Cycle.
1. Am I misunderstanding what they mean in the SAP environment as u201CSAP Testing Methodologiesu201C ?
2. What does it mean when a job description indicates
"Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies (S/W life cycle)"
ii. Also, what is "S/W life cycle"
