What kstat counts does network driver need to provide to mibiisa daemon?

My network driver provides kstat counters which are read every second by the SNMP MIB-II daemon. However I don't know how to provide the MIB-II counts marked w/ "?" below.
Also I don't know how to provide info for "netstat -i" field "Queue"
v. man 1M: System Admin Commands: mibiisa and man gld(7D)
Do you have any advice? Thanks. Weimin Tchen

Whether or not you need the aim card is largely a matter of the bandwidth you need to support and the number of users.  For 5 simultaneous users at anything more than a few megabits I would definitely add the card.
as for the version, I believe you need advanced security or enterprise.  There may be others but I usually stick with advanced security.

My apologies, I read your post the wrong way. I see now that the original poster was confused about the specs and you were simply responding with the appropriate info.
I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple.

Does JDBC Driver needs to be downloaded in order to be used?

    Does JDBC Driver ....Huh?
JDBC is an inteface. It is part of the standard API that should come with most JVMs.
JDBC uses 'drivers' which are specific to the purpose at hand. The jdbc-odbc bridge driver comes with the Sun JVMs and has since at least version 1.1.4 (years ago.) Other drivers must be downloaded or acquired. For example the Oracle drivers can be downloaded from the Oracle site and they also come on the Oracle client install.

  • OS X says  D-Link DSM g-600 network drive needs a username and password.

Can connect my macbook to my wireless network, surf the net and detect network printer and shared files on my XP Home Desktop. The LAN portion consistists of a network printer, Linksys router, XPHome desktop and 500 GB external storage device. The storage device is a D-Link dsm g-600. The files therein were put there by the desktop and a now-defunct XP Home laptop over the course of 2 years. The laptop never had any trouble detecting, connecting to and reading files on the DSM-G600.
The Macbook detects it under "Finder", but fails to connect. Trying to connect elicits and demand for username and password. Connecting to the DSM from the XP computers never required a password and conecting to the device as an admin just requires the username "admin" and no password. D-Link says its an OSX problem and Apple says its a D-Link firmware problem. Before buying a ticket to India to find the phone techs that told me this, I'm wondering if anyone else had any thoughts.

    Basics - Server 2008 R2 - SP1, WDS,  MDT 2013
Well all, I've done this at least 20 times today and the deployment share info is still wrong...
Someone else built and messed with this thing so i'm trying to fix it.  We have 2 MDT servers and 1 WDS that is on the Production MDT.  I've turned the test MDT off.
It was working fine, until I updated the deployment share ... after adding some drivers for the surface pro 3 for the pxe boot

It continues to show up on the client as ||mdt901w8|deploymentshare$  (test server) (pipes for \ since it makes it a link and i'm new)
I've deleted all the .wim and associated files from all locations from the deployment share\boot folder and from the wds remote install\boot\x64\images folder where they are instead of the remote install\boot\images folder that everyone refers to.
I really can't figure this one out... I know it's something simple I'm over looking but I can't see it..

  • ITunes library on external drive won't load, iTunes says disk is full and only partial library loads. What is it doing, making another copy?

I have an archive of all my music on an external drive. I wanter to play the music on another computer. When I hooked up the drive and launched iTunes with option key, I linked up the library on the external. iTunes gets part way through linking then says can't load the rest as the disk is full. What disk? What is iTunes doing that it needs more hard drive space for files that already exist? Why can't iTunes just see the files on the external and play them without this seeming dupe process?

Tried hooking up my external drive to my Mini. This morning my Mini had all my info listed, but I couldn't play any songs, for obvious reasons. Now, my Mini is hooked up to the external, iTunes prefs are set on the path to the external - but there is no music in iTunes. No lists, no songs, nada. Just a virgin iTunes window. ***?

  • Network drives counted in internal drive??

I Use an iMac 27 with Maverick. After a recent external hard drive crash I installed a 2TB Time Machine as my replacement external drive to hold photos. (This is not a Time Machine question). Having recently cleaned up my internal drive that was nearing its 1TB capacity I was surprised to see it full again. Then I noticed my new network drive is showing up under the Mac main drive. it appears it's counting the new drive toward the 1TB capacity.  I started downloading my lost files from the cloud and as the new network drive added data the capacity of my 60% internal ran to 100%. Any ideas how to get my internal mac drive not to count the network drive?

Eric, I've tried your suggestion regarding Spotlight but not sure if I am seeing results.  In Spotlight Privacy I can add the shared folder called "Data" (has three men icon on the folder) on the external network drive but whether I add it and remove it (as suggested by the link you sent) or add it and leave it on the list  (so that Finder doesn't search there) I still get the full Macintosh HD - 995GB.
I've also been trying to use OmniDiskSweeper to locate large files but when I show the list of drives to sweep, it lists Macintosh HD and my other external drives but not the Network drive. Yet when I open the Macintosh HD to sweep, it lists the shared drive as one of the Volumes of the Macintosh HD but it doesn't list the other external drives under the Mac HD - only the network drive shows as part of the Mac HD.
I noticed at one time that the new external drive had an eject symbol next to it in Finder like my other external drives and now it doesn't show it.  I tried to "disconnect" the external but it still shows on OmniDiskSweeper and I'm thinking its in the total of the Macintosh HD as it shows as a Volume in OmniDiskSweeper.
I'm wondering if a Time Capsule can be used for anything but Time Machine as it doesn't seem to want to cooperate as an external drive.

  • What is Backup doing?

I have about 45 appl installed on my white iPhone, 571 songs, 17 videos, and 63 photos. I am using about 8.6 GB.
The size of the backup folder on my hard drive is 289 MB. It contains 5036 files. (no, that is not a typo)
All of these files were created the same date, one after another, and so I have to believe that this is all part of one backup. iTunes swears I have only one backup available.
Five thousand files? ***?!?!? What is backup doing that it needs 5 thousand files? Is this why it's taking an hour or more?

Noy just apps, but apps, contacts, emails, text messages, settings. All of those get backed up. I don't know for sure, but what if each email and each contact was a seperate backed up file. It's easier to delete one file during a backup than change lots of data in a big file (delete a file containing a contact).
I don't know that each item is a seperate file, but it would account for the large number of files that are backed up

  • How to import from network drive?

I have a macbook pro, iMac and Time Capsule.  I exported my images from macbook to Time Capsule.  A few of these images I would like to import into apeture on my iMac.  What is the best way to get images from a networked drive to import into a new project on apeture 3?  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you,
    Cathy

Is it a few images or complete folders?
If it is a few images go to File->Import->Files. Select the drive and folder where the images are and import them.
If it is whole folders of images go to File->Import->Folders as Projects.
Note in both cases the network drive needs to be attached to the Mac before you will see it in Aperture. So open Finder and select he network drive and then select a folder on the drive. You should see it in Aperture after that.

  • Home directories on a network drive

im upgrading an os 10.3 server to os 10.4. The original setup was previously upgraded from an old mac manager installation. I am having a serious problem regarding home folders. On the old system, the users home folder was stored on a snapserver(a network drive connected by ethernet).
For starters, i cant even get the osx server recongise the snapserver as a share? is there issues with using network drives?

Well, the network drive needs to support AFP 3 for home directories, and I know of none that do. Unlike with Mac Manager, there's no separate AFP login - one account cannot be used to mount every user's "home." Further, any server that will be acting as the home directory server needs to be joined to the same directory system as the server that's hosting the shared Open Directory domain.
If your network drive supports NFS, you can mount it on your server and reshare it via AFP. That's the easiest way to overcome the problem and reuse your existing drive.

  • Need to backup Time Capsule, (3rd Gen) 7.6.1 used as wireless router and network drive

I use Time Capsule, 802.11n (3rd Gen) 7.6.1 (1Tb) as a wireless router and a network drive. I do not use Time Machine at all. How do I create a backup of the files housed on the Time Capsule to an external drive?
Also, why does the use of Time Capsule as a network drive seem to be such an usual configuration? The configuration makes sense to me, aside from the inability to automatically back up the Time Capsule itself to a cloud or other drive, which, to me, is what really makes no sense at all. Is there something else I should be using? I'm not too familiar with the wisest way to set up a home network. I just know I like to wirelessly have access to my files from multiple computers within my household as opposed to saving files on any one computer locally.
Thanks for your assistance and advise!
    erinblythe

You could connect a USB hard-drive to the USB port on the TimeCapsule and Enable Disk Sharing on both the TC's Built in Drive as well as the USB connected one.
Then these drives can be mounted using finder and files copied between them as needed.
The main advantage of time-machine is - automation(like you mentioned) + to be able to go back in time - i.e. ability to restore files from a certain date/time. Multiple versions are available for restore.
Also in Mountain Lion - You can restore your mac from a time machine backup very easily - it is one of the options when you boot to the Recovery Partition (ditto when you boot ML from DVD/USB)
    Hope this helps.

Are you saying that Yos/10.10, as a volume located in a mounted external drive won't appear as an option in Snow Leopard's Startup Disc, in Sys Prefs? I've never heard this one before. AFAIK any mounted volume, regardless of OS, should appear there. I would think that, if it appears in the Boot Picker/Startup Manager it would also appear and could be booted to from Snow's Startup Disk. I can't test this myself, since I don't have Yos. Is what you are saying documented somewhere?

  • What am I doing wrong with this filter (counter/frequency issue), probably another newb question.

I extracted the part of my VI that applies here.  I have a 6602 DAQ board reading a counter for frequency, using a Cherry Corp proximity sensor.  Getting a lot of noise and errant ridiculously high readings.  Speed of shaft which it's measuring is currently 2400rpm with one pulse per revolution so 40hz.
Trying to use the express filter VI to clean up the signal and ignore anything over, say, 45hz and under 35hz.  No matter what setting I choose I continually get the  20020 error, Analysis:  The cut-off frequency, fc, must meet:  0 <= fc <= fs/2.  I know this relates to sample period somehow, but for the life of me I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I used this VI without filtering on bench tests with a hand-drill and got perfect output every time.  Now it's on the machine and being erratic.  Any help here will ease my stress level significantly, thanks.

    Still confused after 8 years.

    Hello Ralph,
I'm not sure about mounting your sensor to your rig, but I can provide a couple ideas about the filtering. Depending on the type of noise, the digital filters on the PCI-6602 could help eliminate the behavior you are seeing. If the noise manifests as a "glitches" or a bouncing signal, you could use another counter with a minimum period to help eliminate the noise. This concept is discussed in greater detail in this KnowledgeBase. I noticed that you are using NI-DAQmx; the practical application of the digital filters on the PCI-6602 in NI-DAQmx is discussed in this KnowledgeBase. A more detailed description of the behavior of these filters is provided in the NI-DAQmx Help (Start>>All Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-DAQ) in the book entitled "Digital Filtering Considerations for TIO-Based Devices".
I also wanted to comment on your original post and explain why you were receiving error -20020. For convenience, I have copied the text of the error code below.
Error -20020 occurred at an unidentified location
    Possible reason(s):
    Analysis:  The cut-off frequency, fc, must meet:  0 <= fc <= fs/2.
I think you may have misunderstood exactly what the Filter express VI does. The Filter express VI takes a series of values in a waveform and performs filtering on those signals. So, it will look at a waveform made up of X and Y values and apply the defined filter to this waveform. Specifically in your application, the cut-off frequency (fc) is the Upper Cut-Off level that you specified in the Filter express VI; any frequency components of the waveform outside of the range you have defined will be filtered. The fs is the sample rate based on the data that you wire to the Signal input of the Filter express VI. In your VI, this data is coming from the DAQ Assistant. So, fs will be the sample rate of the DAQ Assistant and is associated with the rate at which points are acquired. The sample rate does NOT relate to the bandwidth of the signal, except that the Nyquist theorem tells us that the sample rate must be at least twice the signal bandwidth in order to determine periodicity of the signal. So, in this case, the sample rate of the DAQ Assistant would need to be at least double the high cut-off frequency.
However, you are performing a frequency measurement using a counter. I think this is where the confusion comes in. For the frequency measurement using a counter, the DAQ Assistant returns a decimal value which represents the rate of the pulse train being measured by the counter. It does not return the actual waveform that is being read by the counter. It is this waveform that would be band-pass filtered to eliminate frequency content outside of the filter's bandwidth. Instead of the Filter express VI, I would recommend that you simply discard values that are outside the range you specify. I have modified the code you posted earlier to perform this operation. The image below shows the changes that I made; rather than using the Filter express VI, I simply compare the frequency to the "Low Threshold" and "High Threshold". I use a Case structure to display the value on if it is within the limits. Otherwise, I display a "NaN" value. I have also attached the modified VI to this post.
