What's means no suitable driver

i use beans to connect the ms access 2000,but when i execute the jsp file,it always said no suitable driver.i set odbc driver in system dns.
i use tomcat 5 and jsdk1.4,i put the jsp files in tomcat-home\webapps\examples\ and the bean file in tomcat-home\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\
i use different versions of tomcat,but the error always display.
what;s wrong with my jsp?do i need some configuration of jdbc-odbc?
pls help me,thanks a lot

What connection URL are you using?
I hope it's a DSN-less connection, like this:
String url = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=c:\\path\\to\\your\\AccessDatabase.mdb";Do you have the connection string hard-wired inside the JSPs? Maybe that's your problem. It's a bad idea to do database access in a JSP. Better to have a server-side object that does database interactions and simply sends the results down to the JSP. You've probably got a problem with where the database lives. The database should be on the server, but the JSPs are rendered on the client machine in a browser. - MOD

  • What is mean: No suitable driver? Thanks!

    Hi, everybody:
    I have a simple java code at below,
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.*;
    class ... {
         public static void main (...) throws SQLException {
              DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver ());
              oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection conn = (oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection) DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc.oracle.thin.@...)
    there is no error when compiled it, but launch the code will prompte one error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:532)
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:171)
    if modify the 6th line:
    oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection conn = DriverManager.getConnection (...);
    there is one error message prompts as compile it:
    incompatible types
    found: java.sql.Connection
    required: oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection
    How correct the code, Thanks very much!
    The version of jdk is j2se1.4.2 and the oracle is 9.2.0.

    Hi,
    Your lines of code look quite OK to obtain the connection. I was not able to reproduce your error unless I comment the line for registering the driver.
    i.e if the line is //DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver ()); then I get the error. Else, the connection is obtained.
    Not sure if it solves your problem.
    As far as the second error is concerned, the error is valid because, you are trying to get an oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection object using java.sql.Connection object. You need to cast the later for them to be compatible.
    Hope that helps.
    Savitha.

  • ... not suitable driver: what's????

    I installed the Postgresql(version 6.5) under Redhat Linux 6.1;
    In the System Jdk1.2.2 are also installed. When I run a java program with a connection to a database, I receive the error msg:"Java.sqlException: not suitable driver"; I think it means that jdbc driver is not correctly installed; I would like to know how to install the jdbc6.5-1.2.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I use postgress all the time with no hassels.
    Few questions have you added the jar file to your classpath?
    What class name are you using int the Class.forName call.
    What url are you trying to access.
    Have you run the createdb from the command line to add a database to Postgresql.

  • No suitable Driver.....Means?

    I have a following code trying to connect to the Database(progress).
    Class.forName("com.progress.sql.jdbc.JdbcProgressDriver"); logger.info("after loading the driver: " + driver); Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, userName, password);// Error here
    Stack Trace
    org.atcc.erpproxy.services.dao.ProxyDaoException: Error from persistData for customer Customer [] at org.atcc.erpproxy.services.dao.mock.ErpProxyMockDao.persist(ErpProxyMockDao.java:719) Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:545) at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:171) at org.atcc.erpproxy.services.dao.mock.ProxyMockDao.connectToDatabase(ErpProxyMockDao.java:223)
    So why is the error for?
    Is it because the program could not load the proper driver? or is because the driver is unavailable?
    or the
    Url specified in getConnection is wrong?
    Please help.

    In the "real" world there are only 3 driver types ever used. Sun documented another but I have never seen such a driver and more importantly I can't ever recall a question on the "database middleware" driver. Certainly could be people who use them but the effective rate is zero.
    Not to mention that that it has nothing to do with the question
    FOR communication between Java and Data Base (May be Oracle ,Sybase,Mysql .....etc......)
    For these reasons we have to go for the "JDBCODBCBridgeDriver " why we have choosen only thid driver means it is well better communicate with the DataBase
    so normally people will go for this Driver............................. No idea what you are claiming there.
    However most of the time a driver besides the bridge driver is the best choice. The only time that the bridge driver is probably a better choice when there is no other jdbc driver choice possible. That usually means some exotic data source (not necessarily even a database.)
    So your assertion is wrong.

  • I have a MacBook Pro, Matshita UJ-857E while recording music my drive reported an error: Sense Key=HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code=0x03,0x01 I have no idea what this means, and now my cd burner/player won't work. can someone help me fix this problem?

    Please Help me. I am having problems with my MATSHITA UJ-857E DVD-R burner/writer. I burned 4 cd's and then it stopped working.
    I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc,then it says,"
    The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x09,0x01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE.
    Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

    This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
    You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
    There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.

  • What is mean system driver is up to date?

    what is mean system driver is up to date?

    In computing, a system driver is a computer program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a hardware device. Hardware manufacturers release updates that would help new softwares work on the system.
    These updates are upto date.

    Hi Sherbir,
    Qs...
    1)where to find those commons-dbcp-1.1.jar, commons-pool-1.1.jar, commons-collections.jar?!
    Where should I put them under the tomcat again?! ${TOMCAT_DIR}\common\bin ?!
    2) I'm not doing conneciton poolings....I jsut wonder why I cant even CONNECT....>_<!
    (it should be just a small problem....and I used to use tomcat 4...i really dont know why)
    3) Why do I still have to import those java.io.*?! um.....
    ps. OK, everyone calls me xonxon...heh.
    THANKS X 1000
    Hi Xonxon,
    U have a funny username !! I'm sure it's not ur real
    name !!
    Anyway, jokes apart, I went thru ur problem. I think u
    r trying to implement Database Connection Pooling. And
    here's the solution to it.
    First make sure u have the Following JARs :
    1) commons-dbcp-1.1.jar
    2) commons-pool-1.1.jar
    3) commons-collections.jar
    Next, U have to add these JARs NOT UNDER
    ${TOMCAT_DIR}\common\bin ... rather under
    $(TOMCAT_HOME)\common\lib. U don't need to put it in
    ${TOMCAT_DIR}\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\lib.
    Ur server.xml is configured correctly, but in ur JSP,
    u have to import the following classes...
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.Context" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.sql.DataSource" %>
    And u're done.
    Hope this detail is enough to have u jumping
    around...!!
    Do keep me posted.
    Regards
    Sherbir

    I found a post very similar to mine -&gt; Composite is failing
    So I went and checked my parameters. Here's what I found:-
    SQL&gt; show parameter sessions
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    java_max_sessionspace_size integer 0
    java_soft_sessionspace_limit integer 0
    license_max_sessions integer 0
    license_sessions_warning integer 0
    logmnr_max_persistent_sessions integer 1
    sessions integer 170
    shared_server_sessions integer
    SQL&gt; show parameter processes
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    aq_tm_processes integer 0
    db_writer_processes integer 1
    gcs_server_processes integer 0
    job_queue_processes integer 4
    log_archive_max_processes integer 2
    processes integer 150
    So parameters is not the issue here.

    I ran the sample that you pointed out and unfortunately got the same error in the log: "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver" along with a bunch of others as well. You will have to scroll down to see the No suitable driver exception.
    But here's the weird part - the output is as expected: VALID and INVALID depending on the Credit card number I supply. Which means the database is reachable.
    The only difference is that the example performs a SELECT operation, whereas I am trying to perform an INSERT operation. Also I have a for-each node in the XSL and I am inserting multiple records from an XML to the Database.
    Here's the log for your inspection:

  • No Suitable Driver: getConnection

    Hi,
    I was using NetBeans for development and i had no problems, but i just recently started using Homesite for my editor and now when i run my program i get the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver

    Here is my code - any suggestions would be great.

    This error may mean that there's a mistake in your URL...so make sure it is correct (i.e. no spelling mistakes, ...)

  • SQLException caught: No suitable driver

    hi there,
    i'm having trouble to access my SQL database. whenever i run it using my tomcat 4.1 it states: SQLException caught: No suitable driver
    what does it mean? i have check my driver it should be fine. is there any drivers available for SQL using the bridge JDBC ODBC? here: prt of my code my code:
    try {
    // Load (and therefore register) the Oracle Driver
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    // Get a Connection to the database
    con = DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc.odbc.testing");
    // Create a Statement object
    stmt = con.createStatement();
    // Execute an SQL query, get a ResultSet
    rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM dba");
    // Display the result set as a list
    out.println("<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>TEXT</TITLE></HEAD>");
    out.println("<BODY>");
    out.println("<UL>");
    while(rs.next()) {
    out.println("<LI>" + rs.getString("text") + " " + rs.getString("numbers"));
    out.println("</UL>");
    out.println("</BODY></HTML>");
    catch(ClassNotFoundException e) {
    out.println("Couldn't load database driver: " + e.getMessage());
    catch(SQLException e) {
    out.println("SQLException caught: " + e.getMessage());
    pls asist.... thnx

    This has nothing to do with j2me... So wrong subforum...
    Probably you did not include the odbc driver jarfile

  • Connection Pool Failure: "No suitable driver"

    Hi,
    Upon server startup, I get the following result:
    <Nov 7, 2001 4:18:32 PM CST> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "ora
    cleTrufflePool" No suitable driver>
    I assumed it was a path problem, but in the startWebLogic.cmd script I've set the PATH and CLASSPATH variables to the same as in a separate command window that can successfully dbping the Oracle db.
    One thing I completely don't understand is what the URL value should be for the pool, and I can't see a pattern in the examples and docs I've found on this. Here are my pool settings, at any rate:
    Name: oracleTrufflePool
    URL: myOracleServerName
    Driver Classname: weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver
    Properties:
    user=user
    password=password
    server=myOracleServerName
    ACLName: user
    Password: password
    As you can see, I also don't understand whether the Oracle user name and password must be duplicated in the Properties section, or should they really only be listed in the ACLName and Password fields (in the Server Console UI)?
    TIA,
    Steve

    Hi. The issue is that the URL you give is not the URL the driver (weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver)
    wants. The URL should be "jdbc:webLogic:oci". The properties user, password and server
    will be passed to the driver for conenction attempts. The ACL is for who gets to use the
    pool, and the other password entry is only if you need the DBMS password to be encrypted
    in the XML. If so, set that password value, and don't have it in the driver properties.

  • My Mac is doing strange things: delaying between users, mouse flickering and bouncing, gets stuck with rainbow wheel flickering. I ran the appel hardware test and it detected an error: 4MOT/4/40000003:HDD-1233 Does anybody know what that means? HELP!

    My imac is doing strange things:
    -delaying between users: when closing session it goes to blue, then takes a while to appear users signin box, and then wont recognize mouse command to enter until a couple of minutes later... then everything seems alright until....
    -it gets stuck between things, the rainbow wheel appears and its just delays there forever....
    -and every now and then the mouse starts flickering and bouncing wildly onscreen.
    I ran the appel hardware test and it detected an error:
    4MOT/4/40000003:HDD-1233
    Does anybody know what that means? HELP!

    WZZZ answered about where to get iStat. And do check the SMART status. If it is an overheating problem due to a fan or logic board problem, your hard drive is possibly cooking itself to death. If so it isn't a faulty hard drive even though the hard drive might fail. So assuming it's a temperature problem, even if you are able to repair things on the disk with software, that is working on symptoms, not causes. I could be wrong however.
    RE: AppleCare: Your iMac came with one year of AppleCare (Apple's warranty program), but within the first year you can buy 2 more years. You have to extend by the one year anniversary of purchase of the computer. Your 10,1 is too old to still be in the first year, and since you asked what it was, I'm sure you don't have it. Bottom line meaning is that whatever this problem turns out to be, you'll have to pay for it. Unless there is something like this. It is for 2011 iMacs with certain Seagate drives. You can put in your serial number for fun, but it looks like yours is too old. Lastly, some people have had Apple help them anyway if it is just out of warranty, but many have not. Your machine is one of these. Type in 10,1 in the search box. Is there an Apple Store near you? Just b/c it's out of warranty doesn't mean you shouldn't have it looked at by Apple. But no one here can say at all what Apple will or will not do.
    Hope you get it taken care of!

  • No suitable driver found?

    Hey,
    I've been searching this forum for a problem like mine (and I've found a few that are "like" mine, but none that are exactly the same or that will solve my problem).
    First, any information that might be relevant (I really have no idea how much of this is relevant, I am brand new to this):
    I'm using Eclipse and Apache Tomcat 6.0.14.
    I'm trying to set up a JSP page that shows a query from an Access database. I'm working from an example, and I've followed the example to the letter, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
    I have set up a "System DSN" ODBC and linked it to the proper .mdb file (I don't know that I'm using the proper terminology, but what I'm talking about is going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) > System DSN tab under Windows XP).
    This is what my context.xml (in my WebContent\META-INF directory) looks like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Context>
    <Resource name="jdbc-odbc/ExampleDB" auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    driverClassName="sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"
    url="jdbc:odbc:exampleDSN"
    removeAbandoned="true"
    removeAbandonedTimeout = "20"
    maxActive="8"    />
    </Context> "exampleDSN" is the name of the DSN I set up, and as I understand it, the value of the "name" attribute can be whatever I want, as long as it's referenced correctly in my JSP file.
    Here is the content of my JSP file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/sql" prefix="sql" %>

    Apache Tomcat/6.0.14I hope this is enough information to get some help with my problem. I can't think of any other information I need to include, and I may have included too much already.
    Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    You probably don't have the Resource defined in your web.xml. Try adding that.

    Do you know where else this could be located? I don't even have a Blackberry so I am not sure how that even got there. I used to have one a couple of years ago but this problem just happened today.
    I went to the Extensions folder but I didn't see it in there anywhere. I had a couple extensions folders but they are located at Library/App Suppt/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions and Library/Safari/Extensions but when I go into those folders the names of the files are things like pmejhjjecaldkllonlokhkgldsbkcni (that is the name of a folder and there are about 8 of them).
    Thanks so much for your help!

    Many thanks.
    That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
    So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
    First we'll need to change some view settings.
    In your Start menu, open Computer.
    In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
    In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
    Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
    If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
    What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)
