With EHP4 itself, there is not much that comes in as far ESS is concerned directly. As mentioned by Siddharth - If you are already using concurrent employment there are more functionalities added (actions, time management related etc.) with EHP4. Also there are more functionalites delivered for Performance management, Talent management, HCM processes and forms, ECM, LSO and EIC. If you are using any of the above, you might want to check the documentation to see if it affects ESS in any way.
However, with EHP3 and EHP2 there were few delivered functionalities directly affecting ESS.
for ex. personal information, concurrent/global employment. With EHP2, as a part of HCM processes and forms, there are some delivered forms an employee can trigger from ESS - for ex. address change including tax details.
It really depends on what level of EHP you are on, if you are on ECC 6.0 without any enhancements you can jump to EHP4 and use the features delivered by EHP3 (assuming you are only looking out from ESS perspective). I called Apple Support and they walked me through it. They told me to basically copy and paste my music to the external hard drive. (I think.) Or maybe it was they had me transfer a folder to the EHD. I don't exactally remember it was a few years back. But I tried to plug in the EHD before starting and...nothing. Still says same thing, "locate file."

We currently have a two-node deployment running 1.1.3.124, as depicted in diagram:

Question 1:
After step 1 is done, node B becomes the new primary node.
What's the license impact at that stage, when the license is mainly tied to node A, the previous primary PAN?
Step 3 says to obtain a new license that's tied to both node A & node B, as if it's implying an issue would arise, if we leave node B as the primary PAN, instead of reverting back to node A.

Question 2:
When step 1 is completed, node B runs 1.2, while node A runs 1.1.3.124.
Do both nodes still function as PSN nodes, and can service end users at that point? (before we proceed to step 2)
Both nodes are behind our ACE load balancer, and I'm trying to confirm the behavior during the upgrade, to determine when to take each node out of the load balancing serverfarm, to keep the service up and avoid an outage.

Question 3:
According to the upgrade guide, we're supposed to perform a config backup from PAN & MnT nodes.
Is the config backup used only when we need to rollback from 1.2 to 1.1.3, or can it be used to restore config on 1.2?
It also says to record customizations & alert settings because after the upgrade to 1.2, these settings would change, and we would need to re-configure them.
Is this correct? That's a lot of screen shots we'll need to take; is there any way to avoid this?

Exactly how do you disable services? Disable all the authorization policies?

Question 4:
The 1.1 user guide says the maximum number of nodes in a node group was 4.
The 1.2 guide now says the maximum is 10.
Is there a hard limit on how many nodes can be in a node group?
We currently don't use node group, due to the lack of multicast support on the ACE-20.
Is it a big deal not to have one?

Foreign currency valuation (new) for vendors and costumers open items

Dear friends,
Is there any option that when i run the foreign currency valuation program (fagl_fc_val) for vendors and costumers open line items not to generate the reverse posting? I have read in the sap library that the reverse posting is optional and the when you pay the invoice the system works the difference out between the valuation and the exchange rate of the payment, but i can not find it in customizing.

I also like to add that it is best to post reversal because normally the revaluation entry is posted on the last date of the month and the reversal entry is posted on the first day of the following month, which means that the following month will have a new entry on the last date independent of the entry made in the prior month.
The idea of posting the valuation entry is to value the customer and vendor open items which were posted (let us say 3 months ago in a foreign currency) with the latest exchange rate as of the end of the month. This way these payables and receivables stand corrected.
Is there any reason why you don't want to post the reversal entry?

What's new for C++ AMP with respect to DX 12 ?

Second, keep in mind that our feature backlog is full of hundreds of ideas. And if you were to ask 10 different users for their Top 11 list, they wouldn't match yours. So let's say we covered all 11 of your requests. Then someone else, perhaps MagistrateCoyote, would come along with her list of 11 requests that we haven't met yet. In other words, there's no shortage of perfectly valid enhancements we could make, and nobody's going to get everything they want in a given release. For that matter, you might come back after the next update with another list of "what abouts..."
The best way you can influence which features get prioritized for a given release is to submit formal feature requests.
I hear you -- and I've been submitting these requests for years now, literally... It's just frustrating when I see you obviously spent thousands of man-hours on new features, when I know some of my requests could be coded in a couple of hours -- and they're mainly about achieving parity with what, say, Avid & FCP have had for 10-15 years.
AND, some of those requests are aspects of the UI that are completely inconsistent with not only the entire CC suite, but UI practice in general (like having pasted items be selected, or the shortcuts for kerning.) They are clearly an oversight stretching back years. And some are just plain bugs (like the scrub toggle not working.)
On the other hand, kudos to the team because MANY of the features I've requested have shown up very quickly, so thanks.
By the way, I'm not familiar with AE's Reduce Project option, but Premiere already has one called "Remove Unused" that sounds similar. You'll find it in the Edit menu.

Deploymentshare : local or DFS? What is best for performance and failures? And what about multicast in relation to DFS?

we use MDT 2013 on MS Server 2012 Standard. We deploy LTI's. We have only one (virtual) MDT-server and that has only one deploymentshare. I'm having now a discussion with my colleague about where to put the deploymentshare. He says that we should put it
on our fileservers (which use DFS) because it's more safe and more dynamic (no idea what he means with that). But to me it appears quite strange to separate an application and its main folder structure. I have this idea that those two need to be as close
as possible, like to avoid network problems for instance. It's also a fact that our MDT-server is backed up every night, so if something bad happens we just ask our colleagues to restore the latest snapshot. Can someone explain which option is the better and
why : local or DFS?
Second thing which is related to my first question: I've read on this forum about multicast not being possible when the deploymentshare is not local on the server? Am I correct? Anymore info about this issue would be nice too. Awaiting your answers I'll
keep looking for more clues everywhere.

IN addition to what is mentioned here.
MDT works great with DFS. However note that MDT is *NOT* supported with Domain DFS, only stand-alone DFS, because Domain DFS implies that the client is joined to a domain when you make the call, and MDT needs to run within WinPE, where there is no domain
infrastructure.
Multicast should be on the same machine as your DeploymentShare, wherever that may be. If you have DFS, your deployment share would be the root.
Another idea is to use DFS to replicate out to your DFS leaf nodes, and each Leaf node would be it's own WDS Server with Multicasting being done from there.

Hi Peter,
There is a wealth of information you can pull from SAP sites by looking at presentations and product info. If you need a short cut, I have a simple presentation I put together with some talking points about the SAP Portal. eMail me at [email protected] to get it.
In a nut shell, the "native" things you can get from the SAP Portal is quick and easy access to SAP systems. For example, you can create and display a page to users with a SAP R/3 transaction, an ITS screen, or a BW report in just a few minutes. With some simple configuration work, users will not have to login to the separate systems. One of the key advantages of the portal is that it creates an environment for administrators to create/modify views to information using configuration (templates) instead of having to do any coding.
SAP Portal out-of-the-box also has some support for connecting to web services (SAP and non-SAP) and for displaying content from external/internal sites using an IFrame.
If you are not familiar with Portals, I would read some of the product information on the SAP Portal. There you will learn more about the use of Roles to secure and display information, delegated administration of content, end user features, etc.
Another key concept is the use of Business Packages provided by SAP and other vendors. Business Packages are pre-built content that you import into the portal. These packages do require some configuration, however, they are really meant to be "plug and play." Depending on your companies license agreements, a lot of these packages may be free. Examples, include Employee Self Service and Manager Self Service business packages that interface with the HR Module in R/3 and BW. You can get to a listing of the packages here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio If you look at some of them, you will see documents and screen shot examples.
If you are not using out-of-the-box functionality then you will create your own templates and applications. Custom development is done based on JAVA or ABAP development stacks or by using visual toolsets. JAVA development is done using SAP Netweaver Developer Studio which is based on the Eclipse IDE. There are two main styles of JAVA development: JSPDynPage model or WebDynpro model. The first is pure JAVA, the second is designed to speed up development with some JAVA and some Configuration/Visual development. ABAP development can be done using SE80 and writing a BSP or I beleive you can run a JAVA and ABAP stack for your portal. .NET development of iViews can be done using the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio for .NET. Visual development can be accomplished using Visual Composer (I would stay away from this until 2.0 comes out).
My company has been successful deploying Business Packages, configuring SSO to systems, custom iView creation to R/3, BW, and ITS, custom JAVA development, BSP development.
We have also experimented with deploying our own web applications on the WAS and may move all JAVA development onto the WAS for hosting.
To take an exisiting web app and truly make it a portal app you would have to rewrite quite a bit of the front end. You could almost completely separate out the back end of the app from the front end. You would have to rewrite the front end of the app and possibly redesign the app to take advantage of portal functionality (eventing, centally managed styles, etc).
Another option besides a full rewrite of the app is just to create a url iView (basically an IFrame) to your existing application. This way it is in portal and then you can take advantage of Roles and security. With this option though, the portal doesn't control the display of the app (if your buttons and color are different they will remain different). This is nice for working with a vendor app.
Yet another option would be to integrate the app enough to take advantage of portal events. To do this you would write a quick custom Portal application to accepts events and call your app with parameters. With this option though the portal doesn't control the display of the app.
Sorry for the book, but you asked a few open ended questions, which, there probably are books out there to cover. I know I only touched on a few of the capabilities.

Just joined the photoshop + LL for photographers and I may misunderstand how this works.........

I thought I would have the option to use Photoshop and Lightroom as an online version without downloading the product. However, the first thing I was asked to do is to download the product. Can someone clear this up for me. Do I have to download the complete version of Photoshop and Lightroom to use the creative cloud subscription version of this product or Is it a choice or do I simply download a small syncing app of some kind that links my computer to the online version. Please answer this for me. I already have a couple of software editors on my computer including Elements and others. I really did not want to download another heavy software editing program. So, let me know how this works.

The "Creative Cloud" name has caused a lot of confusion for many people. You do have to download any of the Adobe apps as none of them have an online version.

Whats the future for RM and Paas deployments

At present my understanding is that to do a paas deployment you need a proxy machine to run the deployment from. That's fine and works ok, but this has two problems.
You need an proxy per deployment you want to do as you can only use a proxy for one concurrent deployment, makes sense as the model is you are deploying to that machine, but clearly is a problem when used as a proxy
You can't set properties of the paas service if the "proxy server" is being used to deploy multiple services. Thus you have to set the properties on each release.
