WHAT'S THE CAPTURE FIX IN TERMINAL?

Hey again,
About a year ago I wiped my system and did some house cleaning but after everything was back up and running the capture tool in FCP wasn't working. Someone posted a fix in terminal that was awesome and it fixed everything perfect. What is that programming fix? How do I do it again? Thanks

do you mean the SUDO SHUFFLE?
Try the sudu prebinding shuffle.
It goes like this:
From Apple Knowledge base Article ID: 93984
Warning: This document describes how to enter commands in the Terminal application. Users unfamiliar with Terminal and UNIX-style environments should proceed with caution. The entry of incorrect commands may result in data loss and/or unusable system software.
1. Save any files or work you may have open, because you'll need to restart the computer after these steps.
2. Open Terminal (found at /Applications/Utilities/).
3a. In 10.3.x or earlier Type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force
3b. In 10.4.0 and later sudo update_prebinding -root / -force -debug
4. Press Return.
5. Enter your password when prompted.
6. The prebinding operation may take a few minutes. When it is complete, a new command-line prompt will appear. When this happens, please quit Terminal and restart your computer.
(Don't forget to Restart.)
another option would be to trash the prefs for FCP using FCP rescue

First thing anyone can do is replace or upgrade the system boot drive to SSD. Makes a very nice improvement.
How new or old is it? What version of OS X is it running?
Maybe it won't run faster but could run better with more RAM.
Take a look at all the tabs in Activity Monitor. If not on the Dock, go into Applications/Utilities and open it and keep it on the dock. Can tell you what is using your processor the most, RAM usage, disk and network I/O.
Don't install things that aren't needed. That can be counter intuitive to some but 'less is more' and some just really pull a computer system down. Security programs, "clean up programs" and others.

  • What is the BUG FIX for automatic image crop done to all imported Raw files on the 5DIII? I need to be able to get back to the original size image without doing it manually thousands of times using the plug in, that's a huge waste of time.

all you can recommend is an unsupported plug in that forces me to reset each image manually? Can't images be altered in a batched way, or all at once, back to original without having to do them manually one at a time?!!! Time to change software? What is the official line on this problem please?

Yes, this is the official line and it is old news.  It is either that or BREAK everyone else's images who shot a Canon 5D-MKIII and didn't crop in-camera.

  • Error EJB:010116 and what is the best fix?

I got an EJB:010116 error and need some advice on how to fix it (quickly, I am
    running out of time).
My basic understanding of the problem is:
    1. I defined a many2many relationship with a join table, say ProviderEJB to ProviderKeyEJB,
the cmr field for ProviderEJB is providerKeys and a correcponding abstract method
    with default transaction-attribute (not specified):
    abstract public Set getProviderKeys();
    2. generated code with ejbgen 215
    3. deployed to weblogic 8.1 SP1 JDK141_03
    4. at run time, my facade session ejb find a local ejb instance of ProviderEJB,
call its method getProviderKeys() to get a set of local instance of ProviderKeyEJB.
all works OK up to this point.
    5. then the facade session ejb try to iterate through this set of object and at
this point I got an exception from weblogic:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: [EJB:010116]Attempted to access the collection
valued cmr field, 'providerKeys' for bean 'ProviderEJB', outside of the scope
of a transaction. All access to the collection must be performed during the transaction
in which the collection was initially retrieved.
    6. Very clear message. I can understand the meaning of it. However, the getProviderKeys()
method was declared abstract and was generated and implemented by ejbgen. So how
can I access this collection INSIDE of the transaction?
In general, does that mean I will have to turn off the transactions on my entity
beans and let the facade session ejbs to manage the transactions? if so, why do
I need the CMP entity beans in the first place?
So assume I have to do this way, does that mean I have to add the ejbgen tag "transaction-attribute
= Supported" for those methods that I do not want to have a transaction?
On another separate issue, just read weblogic 8.1 doc on ejbs and it recomends
that do not use facade session beans and DTO (value objects) from the web tie,
simply access local entity beans directly. Any experience on this, in terms of
design issues. Obviously I understand it will go faster without a facade, but
what about clean architect of your software design?
    Many thanks and best regards.
    Charles

    Hi,
for this particular case, you should implement a transfer routine at IObj level (general TAB in RSD1/0MATERIAL)
the code is as easy as
    TRANSLATE RESULT TO UPPER CASE.
    RETURNCODE = 0.
this will be executed whenever you load 0MATERIAL.
    hope this helps....
    Olivier.

  • Is the capture of a terminal session supported?

    Hello,
I'm going to evaluate this product.
My major doubt is: where is the best place to install
Captivate? It is possible to capture an RDP session (Microsoft
Remote Desktop)? and if yes what happens to the sound?
The question arise because I use Virtual Machines to build my
labs and I'd like to install Captivate on my real computer and not
    in a virtual lab.
If the RDP capturing is not working well the idea couldbe
install a demo of captivate in the VMs and do the post-processing
on the pc with the licensed/activated copy. [but seems a bit too
    unpratctical]
    Kind regards,
    Marco.

    Hello, Davide_ita.
Also tried to use RDSM to "Remote Control" user's sessions, but in this thread
    Remote Control
with Remote Desktop Services Manager - error Access is denied (Windows Server 2012 R2)
I get the recommendation to use RDP or Remote Assistance.
    The quote of
    TP []:
    Hi,
You cannot remote control a session on a 2012 R2 RDSH server using Remote Desktop Services Manager.  You need to use the RDP 8.1 mstsc.exe or the RDS gui in Server Manager on 2012 R2.  The command you would use with the RDP 8.1 client would be
    this:
    mstsc /shadow:<sessionid> /control
    -TP

  • Internet explorer allows me to open certain information/tabs which are somehow connected to java script but Firefox won't. This just started happening a few days agoyet my javca script is enabled. what is the problem/fix. I'm a novice with computers

I am not sophisticated at understanding computer language. What I know is that 3 things have happened in the last 2 weeks.
1.My yahoo account which I go to from Mozilla firefox 4.0.1 now requires me to click on a link that says it disables updates. Then my homepage seems to be ok/normal except:
2.One of the email links tries to open a site called Ok Cupid and that site is really distorted and unreadable
    3. another website www.texastrails.org has a tab called 'docs' which can be reached from "member portal". There should be documents in Word and adobe reader on the left side of the screen which can be opened normally. These do not exist now and the texas trails webmaster says it has to do with Java Script. (it does open in Internet Explorer)
Why would these two sites open in IE but not firefox?
Note that I went to "My Computer" and found I have environment 5.0 Java6 update 24 and J2SE Runtime environment 5.0update 6 on different lines. I have no clue what these mean:-)
I also click on Firefox "tools" and see that java is checked/enabled.

This is not an answer. I have the same problem, what gives? None of the "solutions" have worked. The only thing left I haven't tried is resetting my IP an disabling my routers firewall, which is dangerous. Guess I might just keep on using IE instead, sure it's annoying, but hey it works.

  • What is the capture  range of the snowball and the nessi usb mic ?

anyone knows the max range to capture voice with these usb mic, or any other.  it is to records Church Sunday's messages, my audi booth is at the far back of the church. it would be so much easier if apple would equip their product with an audio in, then i would just need a audio cable from the comptuter to the sound console, but they don't so i need another solution.
i would welcome other not too expensive solution
    thanks
    Rob Mongeau

It depends on the quality you need. The iMic would give you about the same quality as the built-in audio input of an earlier Mac. If you want a more professional quality input, or something with a more rugged jack than the 3.5mm jack in the iMic, something like the Lexicon Alpha or M-Audio M-Track might be worth looking at. There are higher-end devices available, but those might be overkill for capturing chuch services.

  • Device: iPad 2. Problem: since iOS 7.0.2 upgrade I can't open iTunes Store. I've done hard reset to no avail. Everything else works fine! What's the safe fix?

Is anyone having trouble opening ITunes Store on IPad 2 (or other apple devices) since the latest upgrade? Mine worked for about five minutes after upgrade, and then it would not open up any longer giving me the message: "CANNOT CONNECT TO STORE"I, but I can connect to the Apps store. I synced my devices. I have latest soft wear updates on my PC and IPad. Everything worked fine before upgrade. I did a hard reset. My wifi connection was checked and rechecked. I had enough storage at the time of the upgrade. I'm not computer savvy, so please speak computer for dummies language should you be so kind to respond. Thank you in advance.

    Hello LDinaz,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the iTunes Store on your iPad 2.  For the issue you are experiencing, I recommend signing out and back into the iTunes Store on your iPad 2:
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
The last step states to sign in with another account, but for the situation you described, I recommend just signing in with your same Apple ID.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

  • Capture Conv: rev/reverse - what's the point?

    Take this example from http://www.langer.camelot.de/GenericsFAQ/FAQSections/TechnicalDetails.html
    public static List<?> reverse(List<?> list) { return rev(list); }
    private static <T> List<T> rev(List<T> list) {
         List<T> tmp = new ArrayList<T>(list);
         for (int i = 0; i < list.size(); i++)
              list.set(i, tmp.get(list.size() - i - 1);
         return tmp;
}Now, I've read the JLS, the Generics tutorial, the JOT.fm article and the langer.camelot.de FAQ, but I can't for the life of me figure out one thing:
What's the point!? The wildcard version of reverse returns List<?> whereas the naive alternative (public static <T> List<T> reverse(List<T> list)) returns whatever you pass in. That seems much more useful! You pass in a List<String> and you get back a List<String> The JLS says that the templatized version "is undesirable, as it exposes implementation information to the caller."
My question is this: is that the real reason? It's not, right? What implementation information is exposed? The type parameter? How is that bad? Is it bad enough to reduce the functionality of the method?
I have a hunch that "exposing implementation information" is low on the tradeoff scale - and that the real reason for the wildcard version is backward compatibility. If you only had the templatized version, old code that tries to pass in a plain-old List to reverse would now generate unchecked warnings because of the conversion from raw List to the formal parameter's type List<T>. The preferred wildcard version doesn't generate unchecked warnings because the conversion from raw List to List<?> is 'safe'.
Isn't that right? The reason that "public static <T> List<T> reverse(List<T> list)" is bad is not because it exposes implementation details, but because it causes old code to generate unchecked warnings, non?
If I'm right, then my follow up question would be: who cares? Who cares if old code generates unchecked warnings? Isn't that fair? - a sort of gentle pseudo-deprecation of raw types?
And furthermore, if you'll allow me to smush several questions together, why the preoccupation with eliminating unchecked conversions all over the place? Doesn't the bytecode that comes out look the same either way? What benefit does an unchecked-conversion-free program or CompilationUnit have over one with such conversions? Does provability make possible some future JVM optimizations where some casts or instanceofs can be eliminated? I don't really see how, unless we're talking about some wacky static compiler. Why go to so much trouble to avoid unchecked conversions?

Angelika, you caught me. I was writing about the 'void reverse(List<?>)' example from the JLS when I went back to your page and realized that your example had a return type. It confused the matter slightly, but not enough to detract from my main point, I thought. In fact, it seemed to prove my point - to provide a good counter-example to the JLS reasoning! But let me start from the beginning:
In the draft JLS, it mentions that<T> void reverse(List<T> list) {} is preferable to void reverse(List<?> list) {} which is "undesirable" because "it exposes implementation information to the caller."
What implementation information? The only difference between the two is that the 'unknown element type' has a different name. '?' as opposed to 'T'. In both cases, it means the same thing! A List with some unknown element type.
Whether it's called 'T' or '?' is inconsequential, it seemed to me. Perhaps one could argue that one is 'prettier' than the other but I didn't see how any implementation detail was exposed.
I didn't see any real reason to prefer the wildcard version over the other, except the reason I gave: the wildcard version avoids unchecked warnings for legacy code.
I now see that there is one other important difference - the type parameter T is actually part of the method signature. That could have important implications for overriding. In that sense, the 'List<T>' version does 'expose' and impose an unnecessary implementation constraint. I haven't thought through how that could be a problem, but I certainly can imagine that it might.
However, neither the 'avoid-unchecked-warnings-on-legacy-code' reason nor the 'typeparameter-is-part-of-method-signature' reason is mentioned in the JLS example. Without those two pieces of information, the preference just seems arbitrary.
So that was my initial question: "am I incorrect? The dont-expose-implementation-information reason seems much less important than the avoid-legacy-warnings reason - shouldn't the JLS mention *that* instead?"
THEN, to add to my feeling, I noticed that the similar-looking example on your page involved a return type of List<T>. It seemed to follow the JLS recommendation to its detriment! The preference in the JLS example seemed arbitrary yet harmless, but here it seemed actually wrong! In trying to avoid the hand-wavy concept of 'exposing implementation information to the caller', the usefulness and semantics were ruined! That seemed like alot to give up, just to spare legacy people some unchecked warnings. I thought this just drove home my original point about the JLS example - but instead it just made my question a confusing mixture of two different issues. I should have realized that and left the FAQ version out of the discussion.
Given all of that, consider now only the JLS's 'void reverse(List<?> list)' case and let me ask this refined question:
I think the JLS should say that '<T> void reverse(List<T> list)' is undesirable not because of the vaguely unconvincing reason that "it exposes implementation information" but rather because of these two explicit reasons:
. the type parameter is part of the method signature (which can cause strange 'gotchas' with overriding) and because
. it causes previously acceptable code to now unnecessarily generate unchecked warnings.
    Does anyone else think differently?
    POSTSCRIPT:
Of course, the thing I didn't realize was that that code snippet in the FAQ is crazy. ie. 'List<?> reverse(List<?> list)' is absurd! You would probably never do that. What kind of reverse method would return a List of a different parameterization than it gets? That would be a really weird reverse method, I think.
Given that, it seems to me that you should modify the 'reverse' snippets in the FAQ, under sections "What is the capture of a wildcard?" and "What is a wildcard capture assignment-compatible to?". I think you should do one of three things:
    1. Make rev/reverse return 'void'. Then your example code becomes the same as the JLS, the wildcard version makes sense, and preferring it makes sense too.
    2. Remove one of the two methods and only have 'public <T> List<T> reverse(List<T>)' which gives the correct implication.
    3. Keep the example but give the methods a different name and purpose than 'reverse', like
    'List<?> examineListAndMaybeReturnOneWithDifferentElementTypes(List<?> list)'. :)

  • What are the things we need to take care while moving from 11g to 12c.

    Dear All,

And what makes you say so? What about the changes/fixes done in the optimizer that would alter the plans? What about if the client wants to use in-memory database option? And your statement that database in 11g will now act as PDB in 12c doesn't make any sense. What if the client is not willing to move to multitenancy? What about the scripts that are running in 11g without any issues and suddenly, will break in 12c  due to PDB's ? Do you have any technical reference to validate your claim that there won't be any impact ?

  • What is the easiest way to sync Google Cal and Contacts with an iMac?

iTunes will sync Google Contacts, but not calendar. Weird. Why? What's the best fix?

There must a better way to do this. The problem is, YOU CAN'T UNCHECK IPHOTO in the installer. You pretty much need all the support files which you can't see in the installer, but you usually don't want iphoto.
1 way to get around this is: Quit the installer if you launched it. Open the install disc > search = (any ilife app) > make visibility option 'invisible'. (if you don't know how, search invisible files in apple's help menu). run through the stuff to find a 'packages' (or some similar name) folder. Inside of that, I install everything except for what I don't want, which for me is the iphoto and imovie stuff.
Still there must a better way, maybe you can create your own installer from the packages w/ package maker or something and burn that image... Worth trying...
Please be assured that you will not get full integration between the current apps and the iLife apps in 10.9.x; Mavericks.  The apps don't have all the expected hooks to each other due end of product development. This seems to be the crux of the problems I've had testing to make an idvd dvd.
If you're running 10.9, I recommend moving on to current replacements that will work as expected. That way you won't be wasting time running down project problems.

  • What is the size of capture window for MX440-VTD8X?

I am trying to figure out how best to resize video I have captured with my MX440-VTD8X. For the application I am using (AVISynth) I need to calculate the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio), for this I need to know the size of the capture window for my video capture card.
I think that this card uses a Philps SAA-7114H, although I cannot be certain as MSI don't seem to publish this fact anywhere. (I found a few references to the 7114 via Google so that is the best lead I have had so far).
Anyway, even if I knew it used a 7114H that doesn't much help as I can't find any published data that tells me what the capture window (in microseconds) is for this card. The WDM driver might modify the window so how, so I can't just look it up in the datasheet for the 7114H.
I am looking for figures for the capture window for both PAL and NTSC,
    could someone please help?
    many thanks,
    Kevin

To quote from the article I have been using which gives step-by-step instructions on how to calculate to aspect ratio ..
(Pixel Aspect Ratio, Source Aspect Ratio and Target Aspect Ratio)
"To determine your source PAR, you first have to know what the aspect ratio of the capture window of your capture device is. This capture window is fixed, but again it is rarely exactly 4:3. The device always digitizes the same area of your video and resizes it to the size you set in your capture application. The raw captured height is always 480 lines for NTSC and 576 for PAL. The width of the capture window has to be determined. A table with known values (and a more elaborate explanation) can be found in section 5.4. A method for determining this value yourself can be found in chapter 11.
Once you know the capture window width, the Image Aspect Ratio of your device can be calculated as:
    PAL IAR = (4 / 3) * ([window width in µs] / 52.0 µs) / (576/576)
    NTSC IAR = (4 / 3) * ([window width in µs] / 52.6555 µs) / (480/486) "
The 'window width' is given for some capture cards in the guide, but unfortunately not the MSI one I am using, and the 'window width' does vary from one type of capture card to another.
Without this information I am at a brick wall. There is a method to determine the window by using a PAL DVD player as the source video, playing some test image, the problem is that I only have an NTSC DVD player so I can't use that technique,
this is something that the manufacturer must know, but unfortunately they rarely publish it,
    Kevin

  • Please fix the "Capture Recording" feature...

    Ok..
Here's how "Capture Recording" (a.k.a. "Retrospective Record" in other audio applications)
    is supposed to work:
The song either is or isn't playing.
    You play your instrument.
You liked what you did, even though you weren't recording.
You press the "Capture Recording" button.
Your software captured what you played, even though the song wasn't playing.
And that's why Retrospective Record was asked for, and implemented in the DAW's of the world.
But in Logic, if the song is not playing, and you play something you liked,
Capture Recording just puts every note onto Bar1, Beat1 of a new track.
And there's what you wanted to "capture", every note you played, sitting at Bar1, beat1,  All at the same time. lol.
Now, I know that in this particular user group, there are many who love
to jump onto a fast response in defense of this application.
And that's ok, because I love this app also.
but the Capture Recording feature needs to be fixed.
Capture Recording (or "Retrospective Record" as Cubase calls it (they were first to implement it in 1995 btw))
works as described above in bold,  it DOES make a very VERY big difference, believe it or not.

    I want My ES2 wrote:
Ah,, that must be because Logic stops sending Midi clock to ext. Instruments. I know Cubase continues to send MC when stopped, so its clock must continue while stopped and it bases(nu pun intended) your recording on this clock. But like i said, it must needs quite some editing afterwards since you didn't hear a click. The note must be all over the place, rhythm-wise. Cheers.
No, it has nothing to do with MIDI clock being enabled or not, it's the manner in which Logic's MIDI/Audio engine is implemented and can be traced way, way back. When Logic is not running, there is zero processing going on, this is part of Logic's intentional design and is one of the main reasons Logic is processor efficient, it also allows large instrument templates to be designed and loaded, if Logic's not running, no CPU is used. All other DAW's keep plugins partially active, you will always see CPU use. Early on when Mac's had limited graphics processing this was a big advantage, when Logic was stopped you had the full CPU to perform editing. This behavior was carried over as more powerful hardware was introduced.
The downside: Many of Logic's quirks can be traced to the fact that nothing is being processed when Logic is halted. The "System Overload" message, missed notes at the beginning of bar 1, not being able to play a song all the way through the first or second time it played.  Say you have a region at bar 40 that uses a processor heavy instrument with a couple of Waves FX plugins... a second or two before bar 40 Logic starts to fill the FX and Instrument buffers with data as the plugins become active... "System Overload". I'm guessing Logic 10 will do what recent versions of Cubase has done, offer a preference that enables either type (active, inactive) processing.
If anyone wonders why some Cubase users get on Logic's case... it's pretty much payback as Logic users use to really slam Cubase as being unprofessional because it was pirated so much it had many, many users who were completely clueless musicians/producers.
The shoe is on the other foot now, a Mac is a dongle for Logic, while Apple would rather have your $199, they're not going to gripe at pirated versions as it will sell Mac hardware... and Apple makes their money with hardware, software is merely a support group for the hardware. As anyone on this forum can see, It's Logic collecting the clueless these days.
Users don't realize how much they owe Steinberg/Cubase...
    Logic's Arrange Page
    Virtual Instruments
    Low Latency Audio Systems
    Piano Roll style editing
And that's just a few, make no mistake, Steinberg has been the innovator on a lot of the breakthroughs.
I've used Logic since version 2.1 (MIDI Only) and Cubase since version 3.
