WHAT TO DO NOW? I CAN'T PUT SONGS ON MY IPOD!!!!

i think my ipod is 3rd how do i tell? its either 2nd or 3rd any way . . . .
so i plugged my ipod in and clicked on itunes, then i try and sync my ipod BUT i see that my ipod image never showed up at all why is this doing this i cannot add any thing to my ipod at the moment any help for this 1 ?

Are you getting any error messages? How is your iPod set to update? If you are trying to drag songs to it make sure it's in manual update mode and not set automatically update.

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.

I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod Touch!

whenever i go onto iTunes and try to put songs onto my iPod using the click and drag method i get this message - 'the iPod "George's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to'. What can i do? Please, anyone, even a guess will do...
By the way i have the latest version of iTunes and the latest system thing on my Touch.

I have seen this article listed on many requests for help. I have tried these fixes but the iTouch will get about 200 songs into the sync and then will give the same message. I have successfully synced the iTouch to my laptop (Vista system)but that is not the primary computer for the touch. Are there any other ideas/solutions?

Ok so i got a new ipod and now i can't put songs on the new one

so you see i have a shuffle and i sold that one and now i got a nano and i am unable to put songs onto it when every i grab a song to put onto my nano it doesn't light up and i've tried everything to attempt to put songs onto it but it all just brings me right bcak to where i am. anyone have this problem and know how to fix it or anyone have any ideas on how i might be able to fix this problem. i have restarted, reinstalled, uninstall and reinstall again nothing seems to be working.....please help me however you can i will love any help i can get at the moment i have in withdrawl from my ipod...haha...and i would love it my brand new ipod nano would be nice and work for me so i don't have to go kung-foo on it and possibly do something i might regret teehee well please ****

You'll need to be connected to a Wi-Fi source in order for the Photos to download to your iPod Touch.

I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod

Hey, I have 697 songs currently on my library, when I connect my iPod to the computer it says it's retrieving less songs than that, say 200 for example, which it doesn't do anyway. It just sits there not putting any songs onto my iPod and then comes up with a message that it doesn't work. Please someone help this is getting very annoying!

apologies for the late reply ... during the early weeks of the 5.0x launches, my email went down and i wasn't getting any notification of replies to my posts. at that stage, i was pretty much trapped in "Installations & Upgrades" so i couldn't get out to my other favorite forums to check for replies to any of my posts ... i'm currently working through a backlog of 500 unanswered email notifications, saw your post, and decided to take the opportunity to have a chat.
update from our last communications. traffic levels are certainly down in Installations and Upgrades. our primary concerns over there at the moment are probably the nastier versions of the QuickTime 1402, and the newer variations on "the software required for communicating ..." and "Ipod Service Error". I'm taking this (in a perverse way) as a good sign. these were rarer sorts of errors at the height of the madness. so when the discussions are being dominated by the rarer sorts of errors, it suggests we've got a good handle on the other 5.0.x installation problems.
the "general mood" of the forum is still a little more bitter than in the 4.9 days. but it has improved considerably over the past couple of weeks. (however, giving helpful and descriptive titles to posts and threads still seems to be a lost art over there ... i'm not entirely sure why.)

How can i put songs from my ipod into my itunes library?

I want to sort out all mu music on my ipod and start fresh, but i want to keep all my music. Is there a way of putting music from my ipod into my iTunes library? I understand that if there is music on my ipod then i mustve put it on there from the library but i dont think i did! It's just not there! all i need to do is transfer it from my ipod to my itunes library Pls help. Ta.

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.
Manually managing music and videos is manual all the way.

I can't put songs on my iPod mini

When i plug my iPod mini into the computer an error bubble pops up in the bottom right corner of my screen saying that the destination of the file is invalid. I have tried everything and have tried putting the songs on my iPod multiple times and i'm not getting anywhere. The songs i have bought from the music store have not been used 5 times yet and there are 397 mbs left on my ipod, so it is not a memory problem. Please help!

New version itunes-now I can't view songs on my iPod

I just downloaded iTunes 7.0.2 and now, when I look under devices, I see my iPod, but I can't see my list of songs to add/delete. It just automatically uploaded my entire iTunes on there and I can't for the life of me find how to edit w/out editing my actual library. I am sure it is right under my face as iTunes is usually a very easy program to navigate, but right now I am getting really frustrated!

Thank you so much, but I have done that and under "music" there is not a traditional song view. That is exactly where I imagined it "should" be...but under music there is only a box with a couple playlists in it and they appear "light gray" and cannot be clicked on.

This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." I got that when I tried to open itunes after i installed a burning software. I am going to have to reinstall itunes, but I don't want to loose all my album art and play count and playlists. How can I save all this??

Don't Worry, as long as your music is consolidated in your library, then your information (ie alb. art lyrics blah) will be saved! Just don't delete your music in your iTunes folder!

First, backup your library.
Then, that sounds like a problem that StarDeb55 pointed out to me, documented at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300554
...where you would basically use the Restore function of the updater to wipe the iPod clean and restore it to out-of-the-box settings.

I downloaded a movie to the wrong library by accident. now i can't put the movie on my husband's ipod because it says it can only sync to one library at a time. how do i fix this? i don't want to get rid of the old videos, i just want to add new ones

Copy the movie from the current library to the correct library.
iDevices can only sync to one library at a time.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
- Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
- Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.

If the key is the only thing, I'd take it to the nearest Genius Bar and ask if they could pop it back in.

With Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to 'Lock Rotation' have you then moved the switch on the right-hand side of the iPad above the volume control 'off' ?
Or with the switch set to control 'notification mute' you should be able to unlock rotation via the far left of the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
