I made the mistake of trying a free trial month of Adobe Pro XI.  Whenever I would try to open any kind of PDF document with my Adobe X reader, an ad kept coming up saying that my free trial had ended and would I like to buy a year's subscription for 19.99 per month?  I could not open any documents, this malwarish ad would crop up.  Finally, I caved in and bought a trial subscription and then, when I figured out I didn't need Pro XI to open my documents, it was like hell trying to cancel the subscription.  Very poor customer service and sleazy sales tactics Adobe!

You are getting the warning message since the Acrobat pro XI is still installed on your computer and it is still the default application to open PDF files. You can simply try to uninstall Acrobat pro XI from your computer or set Adobe reader as default application to open PDF files.

    It is rare to get an Adobe employee on this site.  We are just users like you.
    The error for requesting empty the cache is not all that uncommon on a mac.  The are numerous posts on this.  Here is an excerpt from one Omke posted some time ago.
    If your cache has got real corrupted then the quickest and best way to solve this is manual dump the cache and start again, maybe also with fresh settings.
    Here is what I would do.
    Quit Bridge,
    Find the user library (the library in your user account, not on root level)
    User(your name)/ library/ caches/ Adobe/ Bridge CS6. Inhere are a plug in and a folder called cache. Grab both items and drag them outside the user library, preferably in the trash
    In same user library go to the folder preferences and inhere find and delete the Bridge plist file (com.adobe.bridge5.plist).
    All removed files will refresh itself with new and empty ones after you have restarted Bridge.
    Again hold down option key to restart Bridge and choose reset preferences.
    Now you have a fresh almost out of the box Bridge with factory default settings and empty cache. You need to set your custom wishes in prefs again and also custom UI colors. Your custom work spaces are also still there but might to be reset.
    Now you need to recache the lot to rebuild the thumbs and previews, you can do so overnight and if you want all your images cached just pick the main folder and in menu view use 'show items from subfolders' and let it run for a while.
    Search works well, but the files have to be indexed for the search to work.  You also have to be on the same drive, and the search starts where you indicate and moves down from there.

    Not only do Adobe SUDDENLY expect users to keep reciepts, from 8 years ago (the tax department doesnt require records to be kept back that far!) If you didnt keep your reciept, TOO BAD. We are now pulling the rug from under your feet, and you cannot transfer license.

    Near as I can tell, the page you linked to is not a EULA, Marian, but published Adobe policy.
    License management is an ongoing task that costs Adobe money. Of course they are going to try to limit the amount of it that they do after the sale (read: They're going to make it a pain to do).  And they can write conflicting stuff online all day.
    But in the end it really IS about the rights granted in the EULA, as you say.  Note that the EULA varies by country, and I don't see any English versions for countries down under at all.  I honestly don't know what EULA governs in that case.
    What specific rights about transferring licenses did the EULA for the version in question grant?  I don't have an actual EULA for PS 7.0 handy, which I think is the version we're talking about here, right?
    These paragraphs from a newer (CS2) en-US Photoshop EULA, however, don't list any limit to the number of times you may transfer software.  They do state that Adobe can make you jump through a BUNCH of hoops, though.  It's especially important to note that the version being transferred may not have been upgraded before if you expect to use it as an upgrade.  I'm wondering just how much "used" software hasn't been upgraded.
    4.4 No Transfer.     I think when Microsoft and Adobe were young they were very aware of what customers needed.  As they matured as companies their goals and philosophies changed the more money they made.  Money became the goal and the philosophy is how to maximize the money.  Adobe, Microsoft, and now Apple are all at the same developmental stage.  The kinds of behaviors you have seen from the other large companies can be expected from Apple.  I have been with Apple since the early 80's and own 5 machines including A 12 core Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro so I am Apple to the core. 
    My question: Has Apple turned the corner on a customer focus?  Is Final Cut X the first of many decisions Apple will make that negatively effect their customers?  This is the path Adobe and Microsoft took when they thought they were too large to be affected by negative consumer input.

    Thing is, this isn't the first. It's being going on for ages.
    But remember, when Apple first started, they were all about making computers "for the people". Mac Plus for example... and all those old commercials from the Performa era slating the "business world" of PCs.
    They have always followed the populist approach, developing products for the every day person... just now on a much bigger scale with the ipod and iphone generation.
    The whole things about Apple being top dog for the media industries started ages ago too with the Design and Print industry, but I reckon with Final Cut and Shake, the video industry was one of their biggest successors in that area - but it came later, and now it is going earlier I think.
    When they got rid of Shake, that said it all really... it was only a matter of time.
    It seems like they are turning their back on the pro video industry - and there is probably a very valid financial reason for this... it's one of those things they do.
    But ****, is it ******* **** that they are!! ;-)
    I haven't written this post very well, apologies. To much time on here has and a bottle of wine has made my brain go numb (and yes, I have been editing this week on FCP7 at the same time :-D   )

  • When did Adobe decide to market a product that manifestly doesn't work? It should be so simple, but it's made so difficult. Even the process of getting help is a nightmare. How do I get a PDF converted?

    How does anyone get a point over to Adobe? Not everyone needs or wants a bewildering range of product permutations. I bought the product to do just what it should - convert PDF to word. It worked once, I had the 'Welcome' email, and from then on, it's failed in every possible way. How many others using this forum have a similar experience?

I know that I have put at least 40 hours in trying to get a simple connection to a database with a c# program with VS2005.     Am I crazy or in some recent iteration, has FCP changed to become 'inclusive out'? i.e. you get the marked frame, instead of dropping out before the marked frame?

    My impression from reading other posts of yours is that you've been in the business long enough to have experienced linear editing. On most systems, linear editing would make cuts between F1 (Field 1) and F2 (Field 2) in a frame (between the first field and the second field). So, if you made a one frame edit, you were going from the end of F1 between, say, 01:00:00:00 and 01:00:00:01 and the end of F1 between 01:00:00:01 and 01:00:00:02.
    That also allowed the system to do a zero frame edit, which was useful for doing dissolves while maintaining video sync through the edit.
    In non-linear editing, however, you are making the cuts at the end of F2 of one frame and the beginning of F1 of the next frame. So, a one frame edit includes an entire frame with both fields.
    Note that Field Dominance and Field Order are two different things. Field Order in the order in which the two fields are recorded / displayed. So, if the order of the fields displayed is the opposite of the order those fields were recorded, then the playback, as it proceeds from frame to frame, will be going back in time for a field, then jumping forward two fields, then going back in time one field, etc. That results in stuttered playback, which is most noticeable during motion on screen.

  • When did Bluetooth become a standard option on Powerbook G4s?

    I am trying to determine if I have a problem or if I'm just being stupid. I have the second to last revision of the Powerbook G4, purchased 11 months ago. When I purchased it I believed a Bluetooth module was included as a standard option. I remember turning it off since at the time I didn't have a phone that could use it. Today, I went to turn it back on and it has disappeared. I know that some people are reporting similar issues, but I want to confirm that I in fact have a BT module in my laptop before I start trying to have the problem fixed. Does anyone know when BT became a standard option?

    Bluetooth is included with all of the aluminum PowerBooks except for the first 12-inch and 17-inch models.

  • When I start up from a bootable Hard Drive copy, Adobe Apps such as Photoshop will not open.

    I use SuperDuper to make bootable backup Hard Drives. When I boot from these drives Adobe Apps such as photoshop can not be opened. Is there any way to make functional backup drives? Those same Apps when brought up from Time Machine will can not be opened.

    Alas, fire ant, you cannot run Adobe Photoshop or any of their Creative Suite apps remotely. It's their anti-piracy restrictions, also the installer for PS puts a whole bunch of resources and drivers into system folders that again, due to anti-piracy efforts, cannot be copied via SD or any cloning process. (said system files NEVER copy out the same size)
    This is why it wants you to reinstall and it will put in the correct files - If you have an installer, just re-install to the cloned drive and re-enter the product key and password.
    A P-I-T-A, but that's Adobe for you.

  • When I load sites such as ESPN it loads the headlines and news from weeks ago. I've cleared my cache, history, cookies, and it did not fix the issue.

    When I visit sites such as ESPN where the news and headlines change daily or even hourly for some reason my browser loads the site from a few days ago. I try to refresh the page but that does not fix the problem. I have cleared all history, cache, etc... that did not work. I added a ? to the end of the URL and that loaded a different page but still not the current new head lines. It's almost like it is stuck with the info from a previous visit.

    had to delete firefox and reinstall it. in doing so, i lost all of my bookmarks. when i follow the instructions on how to restore it, and the dates drop down, it is only giving me the last couple of days. it is not giving me an earlier date. and after reading the help answers, i have come to the conclusion that all my bookmarks which i use about 85% of them on a daily basis are GONE !!!   • Where can I find the plugins folder when I have opened PSE13? I miss it in this version! If so why did Adobe removed it? Then this version has no use to me.

    I just purchased PSE13 and after installing I noticed that I can't find my plugins  while I could easily open it in my PSE11. Why did Adobe removed it???  If so I think I will install PSE11 again.
    Kind-a weird that this version doesn't have a plugin-use anymore.

    I have Windows 7 Professional X86 and I also noticed that PSE13 was installed in my  'normal' program files folder instead of the X86 program files folder. PSE11 used the X86 programfiles folder. I dunno why though!

  • How did Adobe Customer Support get so horrible?

    Reading through the posts, it seems that I am not alone in my experience.  You pay over $2000 or a software solution, but you cannot get hold of a single person to help you do basic things like install the darn thing.  Endless waiting on hold, being tossed from one department to the next, people you can hardly understand who know nothing more than basic information on their computer screen, and a system that treats you like dirt.  You schedule a call, it happens hours later than promised, and if your call is dropped, you will not get a return call.  You get to start all over again and go back to the end of the line.  In fact, if you get transferred to another department, you also start over.  No way to put you directly through to a person, even though you already waited on hold for 30-45 minutes or more.  And if by some miracle you actually get hold of someone, I guarantee that they will not be able to help you.  Your efforts are wasted, and you have to do it yourself using Google. 
    Sad to see that Adobe, a company that I used to respect and recommend, sink to become such an embarrassment.

    The problem is that when I installed CS5, Acrobat did not install as if did under CS1-4.  Ok, Adobe decided to keep that little fact a secret, but I think I worked through it.  But now, I have no way to create .PDF files from within my programs. Take illustrator for instance. Can I save as a .PDF? No. Can I export to .PDF? No. Can I print to a .ps and convert? Only if I use the .ppd for my little desktop printer and shrink everything to 8.5 x 11.  Where is the .Ppd for .PDF? I tried to download something, but the .sea file is invalid or corrupt. Why isn't PDF integrated anymore?  Why do I have a PDF option (albeit clunky) in some print dialogs, but not others?   If Adobe has decided that I have to use Dustiller, then how do I print a 20x40 .ps file?

    I'm an IT professionnal in a large company, and we've been dealing with an issue using this software.
    Using the "Adobe Customization Wizard 9", prior to version X and XI, the following option was available:
    Adobe Acrobat 9:
    Adobe Reader 9:
    As you see, the customization wizard of both software allowed you to leave Adobe Acrobat as the default PDF handler.
    Now, let's look at the Customization Wizard X
    Adobe Acrobat X: (XI has the same options)
    Adobe Reader X: (XI has the same options)
    Now here, we can see that in Adobe Reader X, we only have "Make Reader the default" or "Installer will decide which will be the default"
    I want to keep Adobe Acrobat as the default, so I choose "Installer will decide which product will be the default"
    Guess which software becomes the default? Adobe Reader....
    So what is happening here is that Adobe Customization Wizard X and XI will NOT let you keep Acrobat as the default, unless you execute a repair or reinstall Acrobat after installing Adobe Reader.
    Adobe Reader X and XI forces itself to become the default handler, in every option scenario we can find. Adobe Customization Wizard 9 would let you choose to keep Acrobat as the handler. Why was this removed in X and XI?
    This is very annoying and causing a lot of grief inside the company. Is there a solution for this?

    Adobe has photoshop elements for those who don't want photoshop.  What about pagemaker for those that don't want to drink the In Design cool aid?
    Am I really the only one complaining about the untimely death of pagemaker?  I am a dual user- I have PC's and Mac's in my house.
    I have gone through the transition of Wordstar to Ami Pro to Microsoft word.
    I have gone through the transition of Visi Calc (on an apple II) to Lotus 1-2-3 to Excell.
    I will be damned if I'm going to switch from Pagemaker to In Design.  I've been using pagemaker since 1990.  MY GOD THAT'S 20 YEARS!!!!  Longer than some of you have been alive.  I have a right to claim upgrade fatigue god damn it!!!!!!!!!
    I can run pagemaker on a pc.  And that's where I go everytime I want to use it.  But my main computer is this mac I'm typing on right now.

    Bacause I said so, you may find Bob and Big John's responses to you post a somewhat harsh. I'd call them suscinct and to the point. Nevertheless, they are quite correct. PM is dead. PM will NOT be fixed, upgraded or updated to run on Win Vista, Win 7 or the latest version of Mac OS X. So from that point of view, you HAVE to get over it! Unless of course you continue to run Win 2000 or XP.
    Of course, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. One option is to use Win 7's XP mode. I do not have time to go into haow XP Mode works. Suffice to say that you need Win 7 Pro or Ultimate and an Intel or AMD cpu that supports virtualisation. How good is it? Well, I use an acient DOS program. on Win XP mode and it runs perfectly well. In this case I have no choice other than to use a true copy Win XP (which has nver been installed on this PC). XP mode is a perfectly viable alternative to this.
    That said, I would NOT run a complex app such as PM on Win XP mode. Not that it would not work, but more from the point of view that XP Mode should be seen as a temporary fix or where an old program has to be used which will NOT gain any upgrades or updates and where NO OTHER alternative program exists, such as my old DOS program.
    With PM, there is an upgrade called InDesign. Yes, you may not like this situation, and neither did I a few years ago. However, the writing was on the wall for PM as soon as InDesign was announced in 1999 and launched in 2000. PM was then 'downshifted' into becoming a business publishing platform to compete more with the likes of MS Publisher, hence the more business orientated marketing. As time went on it became clear that the future of Adobe's publishing focus was InDesign, even though I was assured at an Adobe seminar years ago that PM would continue with more InDesign features!
    Remember, InDesign was not only a response to the technical challenges og making PM comlient with thae latest Win and Mac OS's, it was also a response to QuarkXpress which had left PM far behind by 1992.
    Adobe is not the only answer of course. No one is forcing you to use InDesign. If I were you, I'd strongly consider PagePlus. It runs on Win Vista and 7 and no doubt packs a lot more up to date featutes than PM 7 does right now. It is also updated, upgraded AND supported! Or if you're happy to use what is essentially a drawing program with some DTP options, give CorelDraw a look.

    I have recently installed 4.5.1 on a Linux machine. The server starts fine but the console will not start. The script hangs and the console is not started. I tried starting it myself without using the script but the same thing happens. Has anybody el
