When I open FF it asks me EVERY time which file I want to open firefox.exe with. When I choose FF, it opens a savefile prompt and opens a blank web browser.
When it opens and I choose FF to open .exe with, it won't let me click the box that says use this program from now on.
Also it doesn't matter if I save the file or not, it asks every time.
Then when the screen opens, it is a blank browser. I just click on my bookmarks to get me started, but I've tried setting up my home page, it won't start up there though.
I've already tried a new shortcut, but the program file does this too.
I tried updating my version of FF, it's not helping this problem either.
I also found an article about a web page fixer program that is supposed to help with the box checking that says always use this program, but it hasn't helped either.
My solution to my original problem of stopping FF from intruding with an erstwhile search doesn't work. Firefox IGNORES my settings to NOT check for updates to addons (letalone disabled and unwanted addons). It continues to check when I reopen FF. What a PITA>
Further, it gives me no solution. Just takes more than a minute of my time waiting for it to stop.

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

I'm endlessly frustrated with iTunes Cloud syncing, something that was supposed to make lenjoying my music easier. I routinely find that, though itunes and podcasts have been split, iTunes arbitrairily removes music files or in progress podcast in favor of 'new' podcasts. The settings are just not fine-grained enough to allow true user control and so we are instead subjected to 'Apple knows best' protocols. I understand and appreciate the level of exacting control Apple excercises over their ecosystem, however, more and more often I see them tightening control over things that should be user control while dropping the ball on aesthetic desisions made in producing their own software (see the hideous pull down tab for iTunes to access Podcast, TV shows, Music, etc.
I would like to see features like those in Mail and the Podcasting apps implemented in iTunes afor the management of content on mobile devices, for instance it would be great to swipe to delete files that you know longer want on your device, at both the album and song level. Another issues is the new pushiness of iRadio and iTunes Store, the app now seems to default to the iRadio page (versus the last page Albums, songs, etc. that the user was navigating, or in the instance of the iTunes Store push, if I doon't have all the tracks of an album i own on my mobile device 'complete my album' takes you to iTunes store rather than showing the 'cloud' download icon next to missing tracks. These are the tactics I expect from Google, not Apple (pushing commerce over quality user experience).
Fix these things Apple, please. -

Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. I ask because every time I did call they could not fix the problem, as in I could not send mail, I was told it was my Internet, then they tell me it is my computer. After spending many many hours on the phone with Apple, I was told I had to reload my hard drive. Which by the way takes a lot more then a few hours. The next day I found I still had the same problem. I could not send mail... I found the problem my self// I didn't have a mail box set up to send mail. How sample that was. Then the next time if I wanted to empty trash I had to turn off the computer then reset to do so. When I called tech support she tells me that is normal and they had to do the same thing every time. Well she is wrong in that if you use "empty securely" and not the one that just says empty trash then you do not have to reset or turn off your computer.... So I ask what am I paying $245.00 for? I am sure I will need support at some time, and at least it does give me someone to talk to.

FYI - there has not been a name brand consumer personal computer actually manufactered in the USA in years. Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, Apple, Samsung,... - you name it they are ALL made in China or Tiawan. Often many of those brands are being assembled by the same Chinese company in the exact same factory, pulling parts (hard drives, displays, RAM, etc) from the exact same bins. Foxconn for example, which makes iPhones and iPads for Apple, also makes dozens of other makes and models of tablets, ereaders and smart phones for other companies. Like it or not, but the consumer electronic manufactering center of the world is China.
The only consumer computers actually made in the USA these days are by local custom build companies, and it has actually been that way for many years now (I think twinhead may have been one of the last with a plant in the USA - they are still around, now GammaTech, and they still do their "final assembly" in the USA but most of thier manufacturing is done in Tiawan and Malaysia).
By and large, the USA has been out of the actual consumer electronics manufacturing/assembly business for a decade or so now. -

Open the Preferences panel (Edit menu on Windows, Dreamweaver menu on a Mac), and select the Site category. There are two checkboxes there for dependent files. Make sure both are selected. The Dreamweaver default is NOT to upload/download dependent files. You need to click Yes, if you want the dependent files to be included.

In the last week my Imac (OS Lion) has started opening two to seven programs every time I log in. Why? How do I stop it? I think it started after I was led to do something I can't remember with Terminal.app.
If they have open windows/documents from your last use of the application, try going to System Preferences/General and check the 'Close windows when quitting application'.

Follow the instructions on the page that you posted from, they should let you reset them i.e. if you have a rescue email address set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 half-way down that page should let you reset them.
If you don't have a rescue email address then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

I am trying to purchase an app and when I try to it tells me to login. When I log in it ask me security questions which I don't even remember the answers to. I put, "forgot answers" and it says, "we can help you reset your security information by sending a message to your rescue email address: [email protected]" I only have one email and thats on Yahoo. i still click send email button and it tells me to check my email but i dont recieve anything. please help me
