when i play a song, at the end of that song the other one starts too play how do i correct this problem?

You've got Audio Crossfade on, I think.  If you go under Settings > Music, you'll see that you can switch it on and off.

Sorry for not getting back with you...
That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
This is good you still have it.
    Try this...
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.
    Does everything work okay?

  • IPod splices bits of songs into other songs

My iPod Touch (2nd generation) has started mixing songs together - splicing in bits of songs into other songs.  I listened to an album the other day and during one song, suddenly another song from the album played for about 30 seconds.  The iPod still displays the original song and the time keeps going as usual.  I restarted the song and the same thing happened.  Other songs in the album also played with bits of another song spliced in.  I listened to the album again a few days later and the same thing happened, but the splicing happened at different points and with different songs.  The songs play fine in iTunes.  Has anyone experienced this?  How do I fix it?

Does anybody have any ideas for me?

  • Play ends when song ends - Shuffle and Continuous Play not working

I'm pretty sure I did not install an update prior to this starting. Since the problem began, however, I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled to see if that would solve the problem and it did not.
I typically play songs, on shuffle, from my main library. When I open iTunes shuffle is automatically selected and I click on the play button to choose a random song. Since this past thursday when I click the play button nothing happens. I have to manually choose a song to play. Once the song has ended iTunes does not choose another song (if on shuffle) nor does it play the proceeding song on the list (if on normal play). In order to play another song I have to choose another. Once that song ends I have to select another and so on.
I have checked the settings and I don't see anything that could be effecting the way iTunes plays the songs.

    *Figured it out*
Somehow, all of my songs where not checked....

  • Start of song, end of song (| and |)

PLEASE Apple! Can you please add a "Start of track |<<" and "End of track >>|" buttons on the iTunes application?
All you have is "Next Track >>" and "Previous Track <<" on the iTunes application. It's very annoying when to use those buttons when all I want to do is go back to the start of a currently playing song. Pressing "<<" goes back to the previous song on my list. I do not want that!

    Tom,
Sorry. I should have been more specific. Double-clicking on SONGS works (starts at the beginning). But double-clicking on hour long PODCASTS does not work. Double-clicking does nothing (except a split second delay in playing podcast).
There's a new feature that build-in to iTunes that keeps track of where you last listened to PODCASTS. So that when you quit and then start iTunes again, all your previously listened to PODCASTS will "remember" where you last stopped.
This works for all PODCASTS in ones playlist; not just a single file. So, you can have 100 different stop points on 100 different unfinished PODCASTS. This is a great feature!
Apple has taken away the double-click working on re-starting the PODCASTS at the begining because they want to make sure that it DOES NOT start at the beginning. It would defeat the purpose of the "memory" of the track point. I understand why Apple did this. But, now they should give us a "|<< and >>|" to compensate.
It shouldn't be so hard for Apple to just add another button. Make it smaller than the others. Or at least make it an option (preferences feature).
Draging the slider, ok. But not so clean as a "|<<"

  • ITunes recopies library when I add other songs

When I transfer new songs to my iTunes library from a portable external drive using the "add to library command" (I have the "copy to library box checked), it starts working correctly but then I see that it apparently starts recopying everything in the library (which is stored on another external drive).  This is a big deal because I have 57K songs in there.  I've tried adding directly from the portable and dragging the new folders into the iTunes window, and but the same thing happens.  I check back and it's busy copying songs that are already in the library.  What is the problem?

Another thing.  If I drag single folders from the HD into the iTunes window it copies fine.  The problem is when I do it in "bulk".

  • I have a sync issue with any songs name track 1 or 2 so on ..even though my itune shows I have the play list right but after i sync the same 20 tracks play very different tracks, it doesn't happen when I sync other songs that actually have names

I have a sync issue with my ipod, anytime I synch a playlist that has generic song names instead of actual names like track 1 or track 2 so on even though my itune library shows and plays the song, but after a sync my ipod will play a different song. Never happnes if the playlist has actual song names, than everything is fine..!!!!Any help?

If I understand you correctly, when iPod play the Track 1, a different song is played, what is the name of this different song?

  • IPod overwrites existing songs with other songs!

    iPod: 80GB Video
    Software version: 1.2.1
    Purchased: May 31, 2007
I haven't had my iPod for very long, and I've slowly been adding music to it, so it's nowhere near full.
Recently, I added Sarah Brightman's album "La Luna". The album played just fine.
A little while later I wanted to hear the soundtrack to Final Fantasy 6, which I had put on my iPod quite some time before "La Luna".
When playing this soundtrack, the iPod screen would display track information for FF6. But the audio for most of the songs was Sarah Brightman's "La Luna"! Same deal via iTunes.
Another example: some time ago I got the song "Every Drop of Rain" by Chris de Burgh. This played fine until I added the song "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. Now I have an entry on my iPod that says "3 Doors Down - Kryptonite" like it should, but the song "Every Drop of Rain" also plays "Kryptonite"...
This also happened when I added "Laundry Service" by Shakira (iPod overwrote another album, I can't remember which now).
In all cases, I did not add the new music in the same session, so the problem is recurring. Sometimes the music added has been from my CD collection (ripped), or downloaded.
I have 7.23GB (4 days) of music on my iPod. This problem is forcing me to listen to each song individually to find out which ones have been overwritten, and over time I am finding more and more of them. It's a really big PAIN IN THE BUTT.
I'm afraid to add new music for fear of losing who knows what. I have no idea how to fix this issue, or how to "save" the music that isn't already corrupt (since I currently don't know which ones are OK and which aren't). Help!

Do you mean from the library? Naturally, the song files on my PC are correct.
If I use iTunes to navigate to the song (for example, "Every Drop of Rain") on the iPod, what plays is "Kryptonite".
I understand I should restore the iPod regardless, because there is no way to undo the data that is overwritten, except to overwrite it again. But the question remains as to why this is happening in the first place--after the restore, the only way I will know if the problem has been fixed is to listen to every single song on the iPod every time I add a new one, to see if anything was overwritten. If it the overwriting continues, what do I do then?!

  • My ipod works fine with some headphones but when I put others in it plays for about 20 seconds than fades and shuts off?

I can use one of my skullcandys but when i try to use the other pair it works for about 20 or so seconds before it will fade away

Make sure the plug is pressed in all the way.  The fit seems to be different for different brands, so with some headphones, it takes more pressure to insert the plug completely (including Apple's recent EarPods).  If the plug is not completely inserted, you may hear something, but the shuffle does not "see" the headphone so stops playing after a short period.

  • HT204406 am having issues with songs playing in there entirety.  song starts playing and then half way stops and starts playing the second song of say a minute or so and then no sound until end of second song.   it then starts to play third song and it do

any one having issues with songs playing in there entirety using itunes match?  plays parts of songs and skips and starts playing second song.  part and then keeps playing with no music.  does this on every set of songs.

  • Same song starts playing without my starting it and song isn't in my itunes

    Hi,
    Please Help,
A guy from my Church created a website. I went there and actually copied a couple of pictures off of it. The site apparently has a song embedded into it that plays while You're on the site. Now somehow the song is embedded in my Mac. I can't find it and it just starts playing on its own and when the song ends, it immediately starts again.
Any ideas how I can find and delete this song or whatever process is causing this?
    Thanks,

hm, that's pretty strange. does it only happen when you are using a browser? i would suspect a stray java script of some sort but restarting the browser should have fixed it. clear all your browser data: cookies, caches and history.

  • I have a iPod nano 5th generation and there's a song I'm trying to play, but each time I click it from artist it just shows the songs name again. And when I try to click the song from the song list it just skips. How can I fix this?

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. I have tried restoring my iPod but the song still won't work I've also tried removing the song from the library and the putting it back on iTunes but still no luck. What do you guys suggest I do?

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

  • Ipod skips to middle of next song instead of the start

when my ipod moves to the next song at the end of the previous song, or is skipped forward to the next song, it will sometimes start playing the next song either 30 seconds or sometimes over a minue into the song. This seems to be happening when it is on shuffle. I've tried resetting it but its still happening. Any suggestions? Its only a couple of weeks old (and happens to be a warranty replacement for my last 5th gen ipod who's headphone jack didn't work properly). Have i been given a dud?

Hello all... i was having a horrible issue with my iPhone seemingly shuffling at random. So frustrating until I turned off the "shake to shuffle" option... I think most new iPods and iPhones have this feature in settings... good luck.

  • End of songs are cut off

I have several tracks that are cut off with 4-5 seconds left. The next song immediately starts.
Anybody else have this problem and now what to do with it?

I think in iTunes, you might have changed your settings. The settings allow you to select when to end your song, crossfade your songs etc. Go and check your iTunes preferences.

  • DVD Player will not Start Playing Disc Automatically...

I am not sure when exactly this feature stopped working... I have the most current version of the DVD Player program (App Version 5.0.1, Framework Version 5.0.3) and I have all the settings the same as I have always had (within the Preferences Menu: Player Tab: When DVD Player opens, start playing disc (checked) AND When A Disc Is Inserted, start playing disc (checked)...
Do I have any other configuration that needs to be set for this feature to work? The DVD Player works fine, but of course after I press PLAY and then I get the menu that pops up that asks me if I want to start the movie from the previous location, start the disc over, etc.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would try going to System Preferences CDs & DVDs pane, then set "When you insert a video DVD" to something else, such as "Ignore." After verifying that inserting a DVD does nothing except mount the disk to the desktop, reset it back to "Open DVD Player."
Sometimes, rewriting the preference file gets it working again.
