How do I solve this problem?

Troubleshoot Safari extensions ..
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches. Now try a video.
And make sure your OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click: Software Update

"Streaming video requires Safari 4 or 5 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Safari on iOS 3 or later." it says on the keynote streaming video page. My iMac is not even 2 years old and they cut us out already? I've got Safari 5 and I've got leopard running. I understand that technology evolves but has there been a dramatic change in the way video is compiled for streaming or something?

Why doesn't apple tv appear when playing video in safari?

Hi Guys:
     I just bought an apple tv. I am able to use the mirroring function with no problem, and I can see the apple tv in the "Airplay" menu.
     But When i play a video in safari(mirroring turned off), I can not see my apple TV in the "AirPlay" menu.
      So my question is : why doesn't apple tv appear when playing video in safari?
Does the same thing happen to you guys??
btw, I just dont want to mirroring when play a video in safari, that's why i'm asking this question

Experiencing the same issue. Everything used to just work. I'm up to date on *everything* and it's all apple devices (airport extreme, appletv, 2 macbook pro lion, iphone4s, ipad).
My gut says it's the AppleTV since it happens from both laptops that have itunes.
Let me know if you find a fix.

What is a good procedure to capture all formats of possible streaming video using Safari. I have used firefox for years with plug- ins, but not Safari. I do not want the procedure to convert the format, but save the streaming in the original format.

Apple TV disconnects when streaming video from iMac.

I am using my Apple TV to stream video from my iMac to my TV using AirPlay display. Every 5 minutes or so, it disconnects. The video freezes on the TV but will continue playing on the iMac. Then after a few seconds it disconnects completely and the apple TV will return to the menu screen and I then have to reconnect. I also have noticed that it only disconnects when streaming video. I'm able to use the Airplay to display what's on my computer screen and it works fine without disconnecting. I have no issues with the connectivity of my internet, there is always a full signal. I've been searching for answers on this and have found similar issues have happened to other users but none of the suggestions have worked so far.
Very frustrated... please help!

Intermittant audio static/distortion when streaming video

New member seeking solution to an annoying problem. When
streaming video sites such as Youtube, MSN videos, and other video
sites, the audio has intermittent static, much like a radio station
that isn't fully tuned in. I have a laptop with an external sound
card, and it does it through it hooked to a small stereo system, as
well as the laptop's built-in soundcard and speakers. I have
updated the Flash player, and tried completely uninstalling and
reinstalling the sound drivers. Next thing, I am going to totally
uninstall Adobe Flash and try reinstalling it to see if it takes
care of the problem. By the way, it does it with both Internet
Exploder and Firefox. Any suggestions are welcome.

When streaming video on my iPhone 4s with OS 7.1 the sound is fine but the video is like watching a slide show. What's causing this?

Thank you but I got that figured out. The issues is in that the text from incoming Emails are so small it is difficult to read. If you increase the font size using what you suggested, incoming is easier to read but when you compose a new email it is like getting far fewer words on the screen because the text is so large.

Safari slows down/freezes completely when streaming video

I do not usually have this problem, and it is not with every site. Certain sites with embedded video content (YouTube, Google Video, etc.) do not have this problem. This problem only occurs when I attempt to stream from a video link.
This is how the scenario goes almost every time:
I click the link, Safari goes to a blank page with the QuickTime symbol in the middle. Soon after (5-15 seconds), the mouse beachball occurs and Safari basically freezes. If it does not freeze, it will lock up for about 10 minutes, the fans in my Mac Mini will go wild (spinning abnormally fast as if attempting to process a very, very large app or task. It is also quite loud for any type of computer or process. This problem also occurs when Safari freezes completely) and will eventually cause my computer to lock up entirely. I have had this problem for about 5 months now, and have looked at the forums to try and solve this problem numerous times (there is no Rosetta check box on my version of Safari btw, so I could not attempt that fix; I deleted my QT plugin and restarted Safari; I attempted the various fixes with QT in System Pref and MIME pref). I would appreciate if none of those answers would be listed.
Please, if anyone has any clue how this problem works and how to fix it, let me know. This has been plaguing my computer for far too long.

I did not make myself clear enough: the link does not open a new page, but rather in the same page as the original site. In other words, the video opens and plays in Safari in the same page. I do have a program, Flip4Mac, that deals with video, but I do not believe it affects QT movies because it apparently only deals with .wmv files and not .mpeg or .mpg files. My QT is also Pro, by the way.
When I stream the movies (if this is considered streaming), I let them download fully in Safari before playing them. I know when the video is beginning to load because a preview (screenshot, per say) of the beginning of the video appears and the QT menu (status bar, play/pause buttons, etc.) appears around the video. Unfortunately, Safari usually never gets to that point and locks up before the video even begins to load.
Also, when I adjusted the MIME settings, I messed around with the video, miscellaneous, and streaming tabs. I attempted to try each change with a restarted Safari with no luck. Are there any other MIME settings I should be looking at? If not, how else could I attempt to fix this problem? I have tried downloading the video, and it works from there, but it takes about 10 min. to download when it takes only about 30 seconds to stream/download in Safari. Thus, I would prefer it working in Safari, not only for convenience, but because I don't like problems going unsolved on my computer. Thanks to all so far for giving advice, at least.

G4 silver locks up when streaming media in safari and Firefox.

G4 Silver, OWC Mercury1.4,1g Ram, OEM Video Card 2HD’s 10.3.9 and 10.4.11
This machine locks up when playing streaming media in Safari. This is a long standing problem on this machine. The symptoms occur a few minutes in to the Daily Show or BBC News or whichever media site I’m watching, it freezes, sometimes there is a sound loop that gets stuck and will play over and over until I shut down the machine. It always requires a hard boot to restart. It often requires several boot attempts to get it to reboot. The machine will chime but the screen stays black. On really bad days I will get kernel panic messages on the reboot but most often just booting over and over 2 or 3 times brings everything back up. The longest I’ve had to spend getting a reboot is about 50 mins. of repeated boot attempts.
I have done several verify and repair disk, and permissions repairs. I’ve run Techtool and it reports no errors on processor, memory, Video, HD or functions. I tried swapping out Video cards. This freeze happens using either HD one is loaded with 10.3.9 and the other 10.4.11 both OS’s will crash under the same circumstances. I have unplugged all peripherals. I’ve put in 2 new sticks of OWC Ram. All software is currently upgraded to latest versions. A DVD will play all the way through without crashing the machine. I’ve tried running the Mac Hardware Diagnostic Disc and get a mother board error but that is to be expected with a 3rd party OWC processor. I don't have the original processor I believe this to be a false error. The only thing that crashes this machine is playing downloaded/streaming internet media. I've got crash logs but have no idea what to look for. Any of you want to weigh in on this one.
I have 2 silvers a Blue G4 and a MB PRO. I've had an SE, 7500, 8500, G3 Tower. I've never had something I can't solve. This one has been a 2 year problem. I thought adding the 2nd HD and a fresh install of Tiger would cure it. Thought wrong again.

Remember/Memtest crashed the machine within 4 minutes. I took all of the ram out and tested them one stick at a time. they all tested good. Strange I noticed that *all OWC Ram reprots to be PC100-322S, rather than 133.* This is across the board in both G4 Silvers and a Blue Digital. I then ran Chess, it Crashed the first 6 times. The procesor hits around 118-120 degrees. I have an infrared heat gun and can measure the cooling fins on top of the OWC Mercury Extreme Gold. Game #7played all the way through, # 8 crashed and #9 played but was only about a 10 move game. I called OWC and was on hold for about 30 minutes with tech support and then got shuttled over to service for an RMA. I got cut off from service and it was then too late to call back. Service wanted some numbers off the Processor. The service guy insisted I'd find numbers on the side of the processor, but I had to power down and take it off the MB to get numbers. They are all on the bottom. I'll call OWC back on Monday and try again. I still have the original instalation instruction sheet. I found it while looking for the processor box in my old too good to get rid of containers.
Thanks for steering me towrd Chess. I found the FAC at OWC while waitin on hold for those 30 minutes. I'd liked to have know a year ago when I called them about the possibility of having a flaky processor.

Vividas Streaming Video and Safari

In an attempt to see a video that apparently uses Vividas Streaming video, Safari gives the following error message:
Can't use Java Script here. Cannot run the script "set Mac Loaded Percentage (0)" because Safari does not allow Java script to used in this way.
At least Safari gives an error message. Both Netscape and Internet Explorer just quit when I try to access this video.
I am not an experienced computer user and do not know about Java but would really like to see this video and my internet server could not help. Thanks for your reply.

If you have items connected directly to the computer, do you have issues? Try connecting 2 peripherals at a time to your computer (or 3, if you have that many USB ports on the computer) and see if they work fine. If so, the problem may be with the hubs you're using.

MacBook shuts down when streaming video

I use safari, so my assumption is the problem lies there. I did a software update in January along with upgrading to snow leopard but this problem has been happening since before then.
Its only a few years old and the only thig that's wrong with it is the battery is dead and needs replaced but I have my charger plugged in 24/7. would that have anything to do with streaming video?
Has this ever happened to anyone?

I've found that the computer only shuts down when streaming netflix.
I can play videos on youtube or vimeo long periods of time without the computer crashing.
When streaming netflix, the computer turns off within 5 minutes or less usually.
I have the newest version of silverlight installed and older versions deleted from my hd.
Does this information point to another or more specific problem?
Have others experienced a similar issue with regard to netflix or silverlight?

Satellite A660-07U freezes when Streaming video

I bought a Toshiba satellite A660 07U 2 months ago.
From the beginning, when I try to watch any streaming video from Facebook,Youtube etc, my system totally hangs and keeps on making zzzzz....noise and I have to manually shutdown the notebook by pressing the power button.
This is happening very often now. I contacted toshiba support and the response was to change my microphone boost settings in Volume configure..:smileysurprised:.
Does anyone have any tips for solving this problem?

Today this also happened while I was watching a movie on DVD.
The graphics card is NVIDIA and I have updated the driver for it.
Once it freezes I can't check the background processes as the whole system ceases to respond.
I don't think its a problem with the player as streaming video is sometimes played with WM, sometimes with Real player.
Toshiba claims this laptop is a special edition as a media entertainment tool with blue ray dvd player.
I am a software engineer and i do run heavy softwares like Visual studio and sql server database on this pc but never had any problem, but only have this freezing problem while playing video.
