When transferring paid purchases someone else's email comes up

When I do a backup of my iPhone, it begins to transfer a purchase and requests permission to do so. When the permission popup opens it has a user id and a password text box. The user id box is pre-populated, which is normal, but it's not my email. It's a umich.edu email address... so not a generic apple email or anything. I looked the person up and it's a student (as you'd expect with a .edu email) and he is not associated with any application coding or anything. I then tried to look up the application that iTunes is trying to transfer and it doesn't even exist on my phone! It's called "Money". I've never downloaded this app and it does not exist anywhere on my device (or on my iPad or any other device i've ever synced with). I'm concerned I've been hacked or my account has been hacked somehow. I would like this popup to stop showing since I've transferred every other application on my iPhone to my computer about 5 times.  I've added screenshots for more assistance (whited out the first part of the email address so someone's personal email isn't showing up on forums).
1. I've never jailbroken my iphone and don't have any illegally gained applications on my phone. I bought it new from an Apple store.
2. My computer was bought new from the Apple store.
3. I have no association with the person who owns the email address showing up.

Change another one at the Apple Retail Store or fully erase iPhone to factory settings before using it.

    http://www.ngpixel.com/2011/06/25/mac-app-store-you-have-updates-available-for-t he-other-accounts-bug/
Whats interesting is why [email protected]'s username? I am speculating it is some sort of virus, possibly from some other app I may have downloaded directly from some developers website ...
Anyone else experince this and have a better understanding of whats going on?

  • When i go to download an app it comes up as someone else's email, when i go to download an app it comes up as someone else's email

when idownload an app it comes up as someone elses email and it wants me to type in their password to download the app but i cant log into my email instead for apple store

You're on the right track here, but the app itself has nothing to do with it.
Usually this issue occurs when the iPhone was bought used or given by someone else. And usually when someone sells/gives away their iPhone they don't bother logging out of it or restoring it as new. So their Apple ID's will remain logged in, meaning that you will not be able to download anything until you log them out and log in with your own. To do this is really simple:
    1. Go to Settings>iTunes and App Store
    2. Click the email that you see (someone else's email in this case)
    3. Click either "Delete Account" or "Log out" towards the bottom of the screen
    4. Sign in with your own apple ID
If you do not have an apple ID then I recommend going to appleid.apple.com and creating one. Be sure that when you create it, your information is accurate and that you can easily remember both your password and security questions.

  • TS3988 Someone else's email shows up on my iCloud account

Someone else's email shows up on my iCloud account. How do I get the email removed?

    Hi
Go to setting -> reset -> reset all content and setting. And to avoid this to happen again, after using your apple Id go to setting -> general -> restriction -> account and change from "allow changes" to "never allow changes". I even turn off itunes and app stores in restriction, i only turne them on when i need to download something and soon after finishing i turn them back off for safety.

  • Would someone else's email address show on icloud backup?

My iphone was stolen 2 weeks ago, as soon as my replacment arrived I tried to restore my details from icloud. To my surprise, I found someone else's email address displayed asking for their password?
Would the case be (surmising only!) that this person has tried to log into itunes with their details to reset the iphone so then when I have tried to restore my new iphone it is displaying their last attempt or details in attempting to reset my stolen iphone?
I just dont undesrtand how their email is displayed on my icloud back up?

That Apple ID is associated with content on the iPhone. It's not itself a security threat.

  • TS3276 Why am I getting someone else's email in icloud acct?

I am getting someone else's email at my icloud.com account . This person has same email as me. Emails are all UK based

It is most likely that they have either mistyped their address or have somehow got the notion that your address is actually their address (inexperienced people do sometimes do this sort of thing).
Since you can't contact them (as you would just get the message back) I can only suggest responding to a suitable message to them and asking the sender if they can contact this person by another method and explain their error. As you have their credit card number possibly you could identify the card issuer (you could ask your bank - the first four digits would identify it) and contact them.
I don't think, given your description, that this is likely to be a phishing attempt.

  • Receiving someone else's email on my computer but addressed to another

I have been receiving someone else's email on my computer, but the email has the address for their
computer. We are using 2 different ISP; only our last name is the same. Is this the work of a virus/worm received from an email from the other person? What can I do to rid my email of this intrusion?

I would say there are 2 possibilities:
    1) The the sender (or sender's computer) sent the email to your address
    2) The ISP of 'the other person' has made an error in one of his rerouting-rules
The only thing you can do is report these cases (forward the email with Full Headers ON) to the postmaster of both your and the other person's domain, as well as to the sender.
The problem is not on your end UNLESS you managed to configure your mailreader in a way that you use the other person's mail-servername, username and password, which is very unlikely!
    Kind regards,
    Adam

  • Someone else's email account in my inbox address line?

I recently downloaded an update to the software ad all of a sudden someone else's email address appears in my to address line of my in box instead of mine. Anyone have a fix?

    Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, copy the text on the line below into the box that opens, and press return:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
A Finder window may open with an item selected. If it does, move the selected item to the Trash. Log out and log back in. Test. You'll have to re-enter your Apple ID and App Store settings.

  • When I downloaded firefox someone else's bookmarks and homepage are there, it is a used computer. How can I "start over" with firefox?

I have tried deleting firefox from my computer entirely (I have a macbook). Then when I download it again, much later, it still acts like it knows what bookmarks and homepage I want. These were obviously set by someone else, and I want it to be fresh, I want to start over with a new firefox. I bought the computer used, and apparently firefox recognizes it as having been downloaded before and automatically adds stuff to it. It is annoying!!

The simplest method will be to create a new profile and delete the old one. User information such as bookmarks is stored in a profile folder. You can create and remove profiles by using the profile manager. First use the profile manager to create a new profile, then use it to delete the old profile.
For details on using the profile manager see the [[managing profiles]] article. An alternative site that can help is http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

  • Why am I recieving someone else's email on my iCloud email?

I set up an iCloud account back when my partner and I purchased our iPad 2.  We recently purchased me a new Retina Macbook Pro and when I set up my mail the icloud account was automatically filled in due to my Apple ID account info. However after it was set up I started recieving emails from three people all with the same last name.
How do I regain control of my iCloud account or create a new one and associate it with my Apple ID so I can stop getting email from people I have never met?

It is most likely that they have either mistyped their address or have somehow got the notion that your address is actually their address (inexperienced people do sometimes do this sort of thing).
Since you can't contact them (as you would just get the message back) I can only suggest responding to a suitable message to them and asking the sender if they can contact this person by another method and explain their error. • HT201209 I have a $54 credit from an itunes gift card. I'm trying to buy songs to gift to someone else via email. iTunes is charging my credit card instead of taking it from my $54 gift card balance. Why??

Also, when I click "redeem" it tells me that the credit has already been redeemed. Which it hasn't. It is clearly showing up as my credit next to my AppleID. ;(

Because your iTunes Store credit can't be spent on content for anyone else or transferred to anyone else's iTunes Store account.
