You can shop around on places like eBay for a used unit, but that or purchasing a refurbished unit from Apple, when they have them available, will be the only way you're going to get one for less than the normal price of a new unit. No iPod touch that is in working order is going to be "cheap", though.

How did you format your Mac Mini? Did you restart into Recovery Mode (Command+R) and erased your Macintosh HD? Or did you use some external drive or DVD to erase it?

Venom, I use a Griffin Survivor it's a full case, Note; it is waterproof not watertight-- drop it in the pond and your iPod will get wet. Overall works very well, have knocked the "stuffing" out of it, so far it has protected my iPod 5 from falls, drops (that should have broken the screen more than one time), a 6 year old, rain and snow. Also does a great job of keeping dust, dirt, sweat off the iPod. The belt clip locks shut, or can be opened to clip onto waist band or pocket opening. Fairly heavy spring keeps it in place. An added function the clip can be locked full open and it acts as a stand like a picture frame or you can remove it altogether. If you do decide to get one, get disposable screen protectors, cut then to fit the window of the survivor. the window is plastic and scratches easy. The protector does not interfere with function, when it gets scratched up peel it off and replace with a fresh one. They come in many colors, mine is black and day glow yellow, makes it easy to find! I literally just got off the phone with my local Best Buy and according to them Apple is hording the Ipod Touches to themselves and only selling them at their stores and on their online store until the end of the month. But I don't know if this is true because I'm pretty sure I have read posts by ppl who claim they got their touches at a store other than the apple store. so if you got your touch somewhere else other than at the online apple store or at your Apple store then please let us know.

Where can I send a ipod touch, for it to get fixed? Anywhere besides apple store that I could absolutely trust. I don't want to send it in the mail either, because I don't want to get scammed. I guess I can go to an Apple store if I had to. But, my warrenty is up. Could they fix it, but would I have to pay more.
Problem(s):
- screen is cracked at bottom right corner going 1/4 of way up.
- Music won't play out of headphones. I tried cleaning it and wiggling it, but nothing. It plays, but it only has either the words of the song, or the music of the song. (NOT the words) I could press down in front of it for a while to make it work, but it doesn't work that way anymore. (Thats how the screen cracked I think.)
So can any of you look it up, and find what price I'd be looking at without buying another ipod touch. If, it's to much I might as well buy another ipod, NOt a touch, and only have it for music.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
