WHERE clause text.

Hello all,
I have created a package to retrieve all the DML's executed against the database for the day, for a particular user. DBMS_LOGMNR package was used to retrieve DMLs. But the DMLs retrieved have their 'WHERE' clause text converted to ROWID's. I need to find out the 'WHERE' clause with the parameters.
I tried retrieving values from the v$sql views, but that information is cryptic and very volatile.
Is there a way to retrieve the 'Where' clause? If not, is there a way to retrieve the 'WHERE' clause information using a trigger against the corresponding table.
I am using oracle 8i and tried SYS_CONTEXT current_sql parameter. But Current_sql is not available in 8i, it's from 9i onwards.
I am desparately lookin'for a solution. Hope someone out there can help me out.

A bug? BC4J ViewObject where clause change doesn't affect view contents

Hi!
I've found the following interesting behaviour (maybe a bug?) of BC4J ViewObject caching:
1) make a viewobject with where clause and 1 parameter in it.
2) set parameter binding to some value
3) execute query
4) then change viewobject's where clause, but leave parameter binding intact
5) execute query again
6) view object contents haven't changed!
actually, changing where clause text should make view object requery data from the database instead of using cached rows...
If to add a call to viewobject.clearCache() before second viewobject.executeQuery(), then everything works fine and view object's contents are changed.
Does anybody have any ideas about this? Or is this a some kind of a feature, or it is already fixed in a newer version of JDev?

How to change recordset bahaviour to accept dynamic column names in the where clause

Hi
im using php-mysql and i make a recordset and i want to make the column names in the where clause to be dynamic like
"select id,name from mytable where $tablename-$myvar";
but when i do this my i break the recordset and it disappear
and when i use variables from advanced recordset it only dynamic for the value of the column not for the column name
and when i write the column name to dynamic as above by hand it truns a red exclamation mark on the server behaviour panel
so i think the only way is to change the recordset behaviour is it? if so How to make it accept dynamic column names?

As bregent has already explained to you, customizing the recordset code will result in Dreamweaver no longer recognizing the server behavior. This isn't a problem, but it does mean that you need to lay out your dynamic text with the Bindings panel before making any changes. Once you have changed the recordset code, the Bindings panel will no longer recognize the recordset fields.
Using a variable to choose a column name is quite simple, but you need to take some security measures to ensure that the value passed through the query string isn't attempting SQL injection. An effective way of doing this is to create an array of acceptable column names, and check that the value matches.
// create array of acceptable values
$valid = array('column_name1', 'column_name2', 'column_name3');
// if the query string contains an acceptable column name, use it
if (isset($_GET['colname']) && in_array($_GET['colname'], $valid)) {
$col = $GET['colname'];
} else {

You can then use $col directly in the SQL query.

Passing a value to Inline View WHERE clause through JDev...

I need to pass a value to inline view which is mentioned in below VIEW query.
That view is created inside a view using jDev. Note that there are two WHERE clauses one in the Main query and the other in the Inline view.
How to set the value for the innerView.

What happens when you change your Java code to:
view.volAlertsHistroyView.setWhereClauseParam(0, new Integer(clientId));
The ":1" does not directly relate to the where clause param index you use in Java. In your query you could also use a ":2" for example. In BC4J you still use "0" for the first param.

How to populate bind variable in view objects where clause in ADF faces

I've got a page with 2 input items.
The user manually enters the first value.
On the second input item I have created a LOV for the item which opens in a popup. How do I restrict the data returned in the LOV using the value entered in the first input item. I have created a bind variable and have included it in the where clause for the view object but how do I populated it.

Here is an example:
Using the HR schema with the EMPLOYEES and DEPARTMENTS tables.

When you entered a text (LastName), that value is passed into the backing bean method.

How to dynamically update columns in a where clause to a SQL query in OSB?

I have a requirement where in we need to dynamically update a where clause to a SQL query in OSB(11.1.1.6.0).
For example:
If the JCA sql string is "select * from emp where emp_id = 100 and emp_status ='Permanent'" now i want to change this where clause and the new query has to be like "select * from emp where emp_name like 'S%' and emp_dept like 'IT' ". basically we need to change the where clause dynamically.
We can also use "fn-bea:execute-sql()" in a xquery but I don't want to use this function as creates a new connection.
I have done some home work and found out --> as per the DOC "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866/jca.htm#OSBDV943" section: "25.5.2 JCA Transport Configuration for Proxy and Business Services", when a business service is created by using JCA, we can see Interaction Spec Properties under JCA Transport Tab. This will have a property "SqlString' and we can over ride it. But I am unable to figure out how to over ride the value. I have tried by using Transport Headers activity but no luck. Please guide me how to achieve this?

I solved my problem.
In my header renderer, I simply added a line to set the text to the object value "label.setText( (String) value );" (where label is an instance of a JLabel.

Call of constant function in where clause

Hi there,
I want to execute the following query
select a_field
from a_table
where another_field = a_func('10')
where a_func is a stored function and returns a value dependent on its argument. Same argument returns same result. How to see, the argument is a_table-independent (constant), so the result is a constant. How can I prevent oracle from executing a_func for each row of a_table? I know, that the following code works:
select a_field
from a_table
where another_field = (select a_func('10') from dual)
but this less readable and harder to explain to low-level-users in my eyes. Is there any pragma or anything else I can do, so the first statement can executed with a single(!) execution of a_func?

Unfortunately Variables do not help in this case. The query-text goes (in one of three uses) into a Delphi-TQuery-Object and after opening it the results are shown. Declaring Variables is not allowed this way. I want a single (very) easy(!) statement to be executed (see the first one above). To explain the use of the function is ok (instead of using any subselect this function calculates), but any subselect- or variable-usage is beyond most of my app-users that want access to the stored data. The solution must be found in declaration of a_func (to put it into a package an restrict it by WNPS, WNDS also did not help ...)

The best thing for you to do is start over. Start as small as possible, then take baby steps.
Pick one of the tables; fcr perhaps, and write a query that just uses that table, like this:
SELECT *
FROM apps.fnd_concurrent_requests fcr
WHERE fcr.actual_start_date >= TRUNC (SYSDATE)
AND fcr.actual_start_dt < TRUNC (SYSDATE) + 1
;(I think this is what you meant to do when you said "... LIKE SYSDATE".)
Make sure this little query gets credible results. When that tiny query is working perfectly, add another line or two. You can cut and paste code from what you posted, if that helps you.
If you get stuck, post the last version of your code that worked perfectly, and the latest version (only a line or two bigger) that has the problem. Describe what the problem is. If you get an error, post the complete error message. In any event, post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for all the tables and columns needed to run the query, and the results you want to get from that query.
When you post any code, format it, so that how the code looks on the screen gives some clues about how it is working.
When you post any formatted text on this site, type these 6 characters:
\(small letters only, inside curly brackets) before and after each section of formatted text, to preserve spacing.
If you going to use the AVG function in the sub-query, then you probably need to do a GROUP BY in the sub-query.
If you're not using any aggregate functions (like AVG) in the main query, then you probably don't want to do a GROUP BY in the main query.
I know this is a lot of work. I'm sorry. If there was an easier way, I wouldn't ask you to do all this.

Where clause with conditions

I have a report that is to be filtered based on user input into a text field and drop down list.
The goal is to let the user enter either an exact value (based off auto-complete functionality), or use the wildcard character, %
This is where the drop down comes in. If they select value1, the autocomplete, exact value is used and the where clause would look like something below,
select col1, col2, col3
from table
where :P1_FILTER in (select distinct col2 from another_table)If they select value2, then the where should process using the like function and %s. Something like,
select col1, col2, col3
from table
where :P1_FILTER like (select distinct col2 from another_table)How can I take care of this in 1 where clause? I'm sort of stuck trying to figure it out.

I don't believe the way you have it coded is correct.. Can you move it over o SQL Developer of the SQL Commands page in APEX and trying running your query? If it doesn't work there then your SQL is coded wrong.
Since you are trying to have One or The Other condition be used for your query, I would think the Function returning Sql Code would be the obvious selection, but I could be wrong here...

Using CLOB datatypes in WHERE clause

Hi All,
I have a table with two columns as CLOB datatype. I'm using Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition. I can do a query, insert, update and even delete the data in the CLOB field using Oracle's SQL Plus.
What I want is to do a search on those fields.. that is include that field in a WHERE clause. I'm using this datatype to store large number of data.
I'd like to see this query working...
SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE CLOBFLD LIKE 'Something...';
Now this query doesn't work. It returns: 'Inconsistent datatype' near the word CLOBFLD.
Please Help me out.

I presume you want to query based on the contents of the CLOB, right ? If that is true, then you have to create a text index, using Oracle Context and then use "Contains" in the where clause to query. Hope this helps.

Dynamically stating the field name in the WHERE clause

Consider the following select statement.

 FOR ALL ENTRIES IN gt_table
 WHERE kunnr = gt_table-cust_id.
Suppose there is a case where I do not know the name of the internal table field
(say, "cust_id" in the above case) with which comparison is to be done in the WHERE clause. Only at runtime that fieldname is available. So in the WHERE clause can I mention it dynamically?
I tried using the following.
lv_fieldname = 'cust_id'.
SELECT kunnr INTO TABLE gt_kunnr
 FROM kna1
 FOR ALL ENTRIES IN gt_table
 WHERE kunnr = gt_table-(lv_fieldname).
But this is giving a syntax error.
Could anyone suggest an alternate approach?

The syntax error says "The WHERE condition does not refer to the FOR ALL ENTRIES table".
Even after using the FM 'RH_DYNAMIC_WHERE_BUILD' as suggested by you, the syntax error is coming.

Where clause in BMM (logical table Source) is not working

I felt I ask here before I ask Siebel(oops Oracle!) support, by which I could save significant time NOT restart box multiple times , change log level , upload RPD , making multiple screen shots etc.. etc..
Here is an example the scenario
I have a custom field in the activity called the Activity source with two digit abbreviation
TX – Text message
LT – Letter
EM – Email so forth
The LOV table W_LOV_D has the type as CUST_SRC_ACT
Whoever implemented analytics they did an alias table for W_LOV_D and did a physical join between W_ACTICITY_F to W_LOV_D through field VAL
W_ACTICITY_F.X_ACT_SRC--> W_LOV_D.VAL and they did not do a where clause in BMM to retrieve only W_LOV_D.TYPE =’CUST_SRC_ACT’
So in fact the query pulls TX for CUST_SRC_ACT as well as TX for State abbreviation
I went ahead and added the where clause filter
"Siebel Data Warehouse".Catalog.dbo."Dim_W_LOV_D_Acty_Src".TYPE = 'CUST_SRC_ACT'
I saved the repository and started the server (I was doing offline) spooled the SQL and the results are the same. Looks like the filter is not being applied.
I did reload the server meta data etc..
Would anyone knows what is going on with the filter (or what I am doing wrong)?

Where clause in Data Block

I'm running Forms 6i client/server.
I have defined a where clause in the Property Palette for a Data Block.
What I like to do is to extend the where clause with a subquery, but
how can this be done? I mean, should I put the code in a trigger, which trigger?

My block has name is dc_gmod. In the where pallete I put the text (and the all is work good!!!):

1.The dc_gmod.cd_gmod - is full name my block_name and item_name.
2. The ttt.xxxxx_table is full name of my table what is source for block dc_gmod
3. The cd_place is ITEM of BLOCK dc_gmod
