Where Do Drivers Go??

I've created an application that successfully connects and retrieves data from a remote MySQL db located on my web server. In this configuration I have placed the appropriate driver library (mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar) in my lib/ext directory.
Is there a way to access the driver from the server?
What I want to do is create an applet that would enable general web users to run queries against the db. What I dont understand is how would an anonymous user get the appropriate driver? I get the impression that there might be some way to get the driver from the server but this point is not very well documented.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Chris Williams

Hi,
You can use the jdbc driver to connect to the datatbase directly from the applet.specify the jar file name in the archive tag of the HTML page.copy the driver jar file to the folder where the applet class is stored on the server.
But its subject to some applet restrictions.you cant connect to the database if its not in the same machine where the webserver is running.(But ok if you can change the browser/JVM security restrictions).
Note: use Class.forName("Class name").newInstance(); while loading the driver from the applet. (instead of usual Class.forName("Class name")).

  • Where are drivers stored?

Hey, I've just bought a new Canon MP500 and I have it connected to my home Windows computer. Now, i have an iBook G3 with OSX 10.4 on it, and I have the two computers networked using AirPort. I want to be abke to print straight from the laptop, but I dont know how, anyone have any ideas? When I go to the Printers and Fax section in System Preferences and I search for printers it finds the printer, but when i try to print...it says it's printed but it hasn't done anything (the computer says its printed, not the printer).
When I'm setting it up though, it says the model is Generic PostScript Printer.
The only idea I have is that if I can find the drivers, then i can select them for the model...maybe. I just don;t know where the drivers are stored (I have already installled them) so, if anyone can help, i would appreciate it greatly.
    Thanks,
    Jason.

    Hello Jason,
The driver for the MP500 will be located in Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter however it is designed for a direct USB connection. Sharing the printer via the Windows PC won't permit the driver application to see the printers availability, which the application requires to load its files. But a direct connection to the iBook will autofill the Printer Browser >Print Using field with Canon IJ Printer.
You mentioned a wirless connection in your post. Does your wireless hub have a USB printer port (I wasn't sure from you post if you had an Airport Extreme/Express or if you had another brand of wireless and are just using Airport to connect)? If it does provide the option to connect a printer then it would be best to share it via this connection, as it will allow the driver to see the printer correctly.
If it doesn't have the USB option then you will need to look at getting an application loaded on the iBook to connect to the Windows share as you cannot use the Generic PS driver; the MP500 is not a PS printer. Printfab appears to be the answer for some users so check out their site (www.printfab.net).

  • Where are Drivers/Firmware for HP DVD1170e???

I have looked everywhere, even HP's own driver search says no results, unreal! anyone know where I can get these drivers, I am trying to install Windows 7 from scratch and I get a message saying missing CD/DVD driver at the start of the install.

    Hi,
The Drives the Installation is asking for is of SATA/RAID Drivers.
Please restart the Computer, as you see initial screen (POST), please start pressing F10 until BIOS screen is shown, click Advanced Menu on BIOS window, navigate to ‘SATA1 Controller Mode’ or SATA Mode entry, press enter, select IDE, and press Enter, press F10 to save and Exit to restart the Computer.
Restart Windows 7 CD inserted, it will not ask for RAID Drivers through F6 Method.

  • Where can i get the macbook pro (2010) bootcamp drivers for windows 7?

I recently decided to install windows 7 ultimate (32-bit) on my macbook pro (2010 model). However my macbook did not come with installation disks, i know this for a fact and it came pre installed with 10.6. And when i try to download the windows support files through bootcamp assistant, it says that the download cannot continue. So where can i get these drivers from?

All MBP's with Snow Leopard (10.6) came with an installaton disc, and that is where the drivers are, if you don't have (or didn't get) the disc contact Apple for a replacement, there is no downloadable version of BC3

  • Where are the drivers?

Alright it's probably a stupid question but I just bought a new mac that came with leopard.I used boot camp to partition and install windows vista on my new mac. Everything worked fine until I had to install the drivers.I don't know where the drivers are. They supposed to be in the leopard dvd that i don't have. Where are the drivers?

    Hi Obe7,
the Mac OSX install disc that you used to install Leopard on your Mac is a 'hybrid'-disc, which contains an OSX part (only visible while in OSX) and a Windows part (only visible while in Windows).
The BootCamp 2.0 drivers are on the Windows part of that disc.
While in Windows insert that disc and usually the driver installation starts automatically.
If not, use the Windows Explorer to navigate to the disc and start the 'setup.exe' file manually.

  • HT3669 Where did you get the driver information for the HP 4MV.  I cannot connect to MacBook Pro on 10.6.8 and believe you have information that might help.  Please advise ASAP.

Apple published a report - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669#HP - that states system 10.6.8 supports the HP LaserJet 4MV.  If this is accurate information, I would like to know where the drivers are located.  I have spent more than three hours with your technical support and no one has a clue how to make this combination work.  Please help ASAP.  Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
We are all users here. There is no one from Apple responding on these user forums.
You did not mention which interface you are trying to use, or what steps Apple support had you try already, so I'll start with basics.
Your mid-2009 MacBook Pro would have shipped with OS X 10.5 'Leopard', and OS X 10.5 and prior versions supported the AppleTalk network connection and protocols, as well as others.
OS X 10.6, 'Snow Leopard' dropped support for AppleTalk.
So, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 likely does contain the correct DRIVER for your printer, BUT if your printer was originally connected via AppleTalk, AppleTalk will not work with Snow Leopard. Period.
There is at least one recently-published workaround to connect your printer via Ethernet, provided that you have the OPTIONAL HP Ethernet MIO interface card installed in your HP LaserJet 4MV printer.
If your printer DOES have the optional Ethernet interface, you can reconfigure your printer to use Ethernet instead of Appletalk. No, it's not 'plug and play' like AppleTalk was, but patiently following detailed step-by-step instructions it can be made to work.
The HP forums contains brief instructions on how to configure MIO Ethernet, and once configured, how to select the 4MV driver within this thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/Laserjet-4mv/td-p/1176843
This Macrumors forum thread contains a post by TrumpSAJ with more detailed configuration instructions:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=8748935#post8748935
Other World Computing has an older guide linked here:
    http://blog.macsales.com/1897-appletalk-not-available-in-snow-leopard
And a thread on Gigaom discussing some other alternatives to Ethernet (for a variety of printers):
    http://gigaom.com/apple/how-to-resurrect-your-appletalk-printer-in-snow-leopard/
In my opinion, if you don't already have an HP Ethernet MIO card installed in your circa 1995 printer, then it's time to buy a new printer. Spending more money to 'upgrade' something that old doesn't seem like a good investment.

    Hello DayTrader,
When you connect the printer and if the message continues to say "Waiting for Connection", please try the below step..
Go to Device Manager, ( to do so , Right click on Computer icon, Select Manage, from the left pance m click on Device Manager , which would display the Device Manager on right pane.)
There should be Yellow bang entries ( Yellow ! mark ) with printer name on it.
Right Click on each of them and select Update Driver.
Select "Browse my Computer for driver software "
Click on Browse button to point to the CD ( if you are using the CD to run the installation ) else copy the path where the drivers have been extracted if you had downloaded it. Usually it will be in folder with name starting 7z... under TEMP folder .
    Then Click Next button .

  • WHERE are the drive

This is absolutely ridiculous. Why can't I find drivers on this site?for the Creative?AudioPCI 64 soundcard? This card utilizes the Ensonic es370 chipset. It's common on Dells and Gateways. I need to download?Win98se drivers, and yet the result of every search or attempt to ID this card by model number or chipset number is the following message:?***************"[size="3" color="#00060"> Drivers/Firmware/Applications-Sorry, no Creative updates are available for the selected query. " *************** ?WTFWhy can't Creative make this easyLook, I've been doing tech for a decade, and EVERY time I need something for a Soundblaster legacy card, Creative reminds me why I don't buy their stuff new. ?If they don't support their old cards with friendly, EASY driver downloads, I will NEVER buy their new stuff. ?Sooo... can anybody out there explain where the drivers are being hiddenThanks in advance. ?Kiev500 ?

Look, someone should update the Creative support download search engine so that users are directed to existing drivers that work for this card. That error message is complete *bleep*. For example, if a user enters: "Creative AudioPCI 64", or "es370", or "Ensonic Audiodri've 3000", or "Audiodri've PCI", or they should be directed to the drivers, NOT to an error message. The system MUST work for people entering chipset numbers like es370. This has to be a common recurring problem, and I can tell you from experience that it leaves a lasting impression. A BAD one. It should be fixed. I did eventually find the right drivers, but the web site driver download search system was no help at all. It took real people to point me to the driver. For that I thank you. Now fix the search engine...

  • T440 - DWM service is crashing in windows 7 64 bit after installing drivers for USB Replicator

    Dear All,
    Good day!,
This will be my first post to the community and looking forward for an expert advise on the issue am facing with Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video drivers in Enterprise 64bit running on T440, following are the details:
    Environment:
Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit installed on T440 where all drivers are up to date for all devices though (System Update 5) tool.
Requirement: Usage of Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video (M01060) which will be connected to .
    Steps followed:
Connected to the port replicator before installing the device driver.
Download and installed device driver from the link: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73088
    3.    Issue: After installing the device driver above, system reboots and after logging back using the local admin account or any other windows account (DWM service) crashes along with any other software installed (Ms. Office, Lync, IE9, ...ext). Tried uninstalling the driver, rebooted and Windows runs smoothly again back with no errors.
    4.    Questions:
T440 hardware compatible with Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video ?
Which USB version Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video has ? (2.0 or 3.0) ? did I missed some special drivers for USB ?
Any other links for the above driver can be found for Win 7 Enterprise 64bit ?
For 3 days, am searching the web for a similar issue, found and followed all troubleshooting steps mentioned by others but none of them helped. I will really appreciate your support if any expert can advise. Thanks in advanced

I have the same problem with my T400 updated to Win 7 pro.  Not happy.

  • HOW TO: Install LATEST ATI CATALYST drivers

So ATI/AMD doesn't consistently update the "BootCamp" drivers and as a gamer I want utmost performance out of what I have (of course without OCing). Therefore, I went searching for a solution and found it and I will explain it here, step by step. Forgive me if this has already been posted. Note that I did this in XP and NOT Vista.
    1. Download the latest CATALYST drivers from here:
    http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp
    2. Open the driver software as if you were going to install it and let it extract to its default directory. Take note of what that directory is as you will need to know that file path for later. Once it extracts it will move on to an installation. Stop/cancel the installation the first chance you get.
    3. REMOVE your currently installed ATI drivers. There are two ways to do this:
-1. If you downloaded the actually CATALYST Software Suite, there will be a program in the folder to where it extracted called "AtiCimUn" that will remove your drivers.
-2. Google "remove ATI drivers" and I think it's the first link that tells you a detailed step by step method of removing the drivers.
    4. Restart after successfully removing the drivers.
    5. Download MobilityModder here: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
-If you scroll closer to the bottom of that page, there will be a download link AND instructions for the PROPER method of installing MobilityModder.
    6. Run MobilityModder
    7. Browse to the directory where the drivers are installed.
    8. Click "Modify"
    9. When the modification is complete, close MobilityModder and Right Click on "My Computer" then click on Properties
    10. Click the "Hardware" tab
    11. Click on Device Manager
    12. At least one device should have a yellow circle with a black question mark in it. For me, Windows saw it as a "VGA Controller". Right click it and click "Update Drivers"
    13. It will ask you some stuff about if you want Windows Update to look for drivers, say "No not this time" and click next
    14. Select "Install from a list or specific location{Advanced) and click next
    15. Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
    16. Click on the "Have Disk" button
    17. Browse to the folder where the ATI drivers were extracted to (MobilityModder will have rewritten the modified files to the same location)
    18. The specific file you are looking for is a Configuration file whose icon looks like a white notepad with a yellowish cog that has some metal rod going through it. Click on it and click "open"
    19. At this point Windows should recognize which card you have specifically, if not, it will have the entire list of cards that driver can update. If you run into that, just find it in the list.
    20. Let windows copy the files, if it tells you that the drivers are not digitally signed, say "continue anyway". It's just an effect of the MobilityModder modifying the files and since it doesn't have a certificate, it's not considered signed.
    21. When it's done click finish.
    22. Restart
    23. Happy new drivers
I'm thinking you might be able to skip the MobilityModder part and just skip straight to directing Windows right to where the drivers are instead of having to mod the files. I'm not sure if it works because I haven't done it but you're welcome to try. If it doesn't work it just means you have to use MobilityModder.
    I hope this helps.

Update: After using the method described above the drivers did install successfully however, when I loaded some games I noticed that they did not take up the whole screen. No amount of changing the resolution solved the problem.
So I completely removed the drivers and loaded unmodified drivers. I had to find my x1600 from the list and there were actually two but I just took the first one. I let Windows copy the files after warning that it can't confirm they were for my hardware. After a restart I tried my games again and they were taking up the whole screen as they did when I had BootCamps outdated drivers.
So I can say that you CAN skip steps 5-9 (the steps for the mobility modding). You'll just have to find your drivers and some of them do show up multiple times. I'm probably going to try the other x1600 listing just to see what happens. I'm not sure if there's a difference between the same listings (mine was Radeon x1600 followed by another Radeon x1600) but I'm assuming there is or else ATI would put so many >.<

My laptop model no is Hp Pavillion dv6 1337tx. Someday ago I installed Windows 7 32 bit OS and also installed all drivers from the HP site. Still in the device manager I can see som drivers are missing. What can those be and how can I identify those missing drivers and solve this problem?

Determining what the devices are is a one at a time process. On each unknown device or device without drivers, right click on the device and select properties. In the properties window select the Details tab and  hardware ids in the property  dropdown. Post the PCI\VEN string as seen in the following image for each device here in your post.  Once that is done we can let you know what the device is.
This is where the drivers for your notebook are located.  Do you know  which chipset is installed?
